We were on the island a week, and had dinner here twice. The prices for a decent burger can't be beat. I had the double cheeseburger for $12, and you can add almost any toppings you want for free. I had sauteed mushrooms, grilled onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a couple other things for no extra cost. The small cup of fries for $4 was tasty and enough. The service was mediocre and setting is dive bar. It took close to 45 minutes for our food to be prepared, and when it came out, my wife's chicken tenders were warm, not hot. "Hands down" the BEST place to get a burger. I'd go as far as saying one of the greatest burgers I've had. The price is extremely reasonable and the taste is high class! We have been to BOTH locations on St. Thomas and the experience has been exactly the same. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive whether you do a drink or a meal. Each locations are near shopping, so really the perfect place to stop and grab a bite. FYI- Don't be alarmed or think you have to take it to go as every order comes in a brown paper bag including the fries! That juicy burger is nestles in foil as well as their KILLER wings. While eating you're treated to a nice atmosphere of a DJ playing great music, some people casually dancing, and an overall fun vibe. The place was not packed while we were there but it had a steady stream of locals and tourists in and out constantly. The one downside I would say is the bathroom situation. It is on the second floor and is a public single-use. It felt a bit sketchy going to and from so I'd suggest going in the buddy system. The T&S is a fantastic little gem that does not disappoint. It's got an amazing dive bar feel with what we think are the best burgers on the island AND they are reasonably priced. They have freshly cut homemade French fries that are delicious. They also have wings on the menu that we didn't try on this trip but have been really good in the past. My husband and daughter shared the cinnamon elephant ear. I tried a bite and it was a little too doughy for me but the two of them made it disappear. Our waitress was super friendly and waited until there was a lull in the orders for the elephant ear so we could linger over our drinks. Even the bartender checked on us as he walked past. We grabbed a great dinner at the Tap & Still in Red Hook after returning from a day trip by ferry to St. John. It's a perfect place for a totally laid back meal and good cocktails after a day on the beach or on the boat. Service was quick and pleasant. You place your order for food on a card and list all of your preferences for toppings and side, then return it to the server. Our food came out real fast, although we got there around 5:30 pm and it wasn't crowded. Their cocktails were great. They make a great Painkiller...highly recommended. And pricing was reasonable when compared to other spots on the island. Its located right next to the water, and the whole place is open air, so it has a great island vibe. The music choice was interesting...not quite what I was expecting (haven't heard the Scorpions in a while!), but it was all good. Just know this is a nice bar/restaurant and not fine dining. We loved that you can walk up and dine in your bathing suits and just chill. The food was the highlight. Loved that they serve it in a brown paper bag and wrapped in foil with no dishes, take out style. The fries, burgers and chicken sandwiches that we ordered were outstanding. Nothing fancy, but perfectly cooked and served. They hit the spot. Parking seems a bit limited in the area. We tried the garage next door without any luck, then got lucky and landed a spot behind the restaurant on the water (there are only about 10-15 parking spots back there). But there is also a paid lot nearby (I think it was a few bucks an hour). So if you want a laid back, chill spot for dinner or lunch, and love burgers, fried chicken, hot dogs, wings and fries, you'll love it here. What a gem in a Red Hook! Came for dinner, stayed for drinks and dessert. Me and my friends - a party of six - came for burgers and we were not disappointed. You get to choose what you want on it and how you want - and we were all pleased with how our burgers came out. We also enjoyed the fries and the Korean hot wings - crispy and very tasty. Full service bar - good selection of beers and made-to-order drinks kept us there after dinner. So we ordered a couple of funnel cakes - crispy, powdered and hot, they were the perfect end to our great evening. One downside - as the bar emptied out, I wish the music volume went down. The burgers are served in tin foil, the fries come in a paper sack, and the music is the same mix (classic 70/80 rock). The Tap & Still is one of the first bar resturants you will see coming into the area. I will say, with the prices in St. Thomas being what they are, the Tap and Still is one place you can grab a burger beer and fries for just about twenty bucks. They also have a nice variety of cocktails and beers on tap. I was overly impressed with my burger but I give them a big thumbs up for their fresh cut fries. The process for ordering your food is quite simple, you check off what you want and the waitress grabs your order slip. If I'm ever back in St. Thomas, I would definitely return for the fries and funnel cake. read more
