Before I start talking about my experience, let me say that I have been coming here to 3 years now and they never disappoint. Their food is amazing!!! I recommend any of the appetizers, the pork chop, sea bass, red snapper, and filet mignon. Any dessert is so good ! The service there is phenomenal!!! Everybody is so nice and respectful. They are attentive so you can easily have what you need. Great people, great food, and great VIEWS. If you get lucky enough to be seated by the ocean, which just about everyone is, the views are just incredible!!! The food was AMAZING and the views were even better. Definitely a 5-star experience! Sariyah was our server and she was super sweet and accommodating. We came in with a big group of 8 about an hour before closing and she handled everything with no complaints and great energy. I ordered the nightly special and it was way more food than I expected a stuffed 1 lb lobster topped with mac & cheese and asparagus. Everything was so good! The beachfront views and sound of the waves made the whole experience super relaxing and beautiful. It is a little pricey, but that's expected for the location and quality of food. The food came out in good timing and was so tasty! It was well seasoned and decent portion sizes. My only complaint is how expensive it is. We wrapped up a family trip with dinner at Sunset Grille, and it was a great way to end things on a high note. I'll admit, getting there was a little confusing at first the taxi dropped us off in a spot that wasn't the best but we figured out and made our way downstairs, we were met with nice views of the water. You're sitting right on the beach, and the vibe is calm, and laid-back in the best way. The atmosphere is perfect for a relaxed night out , honestly a great date spot. The ocean breeze, the open layout, it all just works. Drinks were strong and super well mixed (definitely not watered down), I had a Cat 5 and a Cruzan Confusion, and they got me right. As for food, I went with the Tamarind salmon maybe not the best I've ever had, but still solid. It was just a tiny bit on the tough side, but flavorful and still good overall. What really stood out was their Tres Leches and I rarely order dessert but I'm glad I did, probably some of the best I've had anywhere. If I could go back, I would've trusted my gut and tried the lobster special , it looked and sounded amazing I don't know what I was thinking. But that just gives me a reason to come back, because the whole menu looked stacked. All in all, Sunset Grill definitely was a nice way to round out the trip. This is a nice resort location right in the middle of Secret Harbor. Beautiful views of the beach and the surrounding sounds of the water waves completely tops off the relaxed vibe and atmosphere. Came in for a few drinks and apps. Our bartender Mike was great. Super attentive and extremely kind & engaging to ALL the guests. Ordered the appetizer wings. They're good size drums that are lollipop cut and the presentation is lovely with a fresh finish of green scallions and served with raw carrots & celery slices as well as accompanied by Ranch and Blue Cheese dressing to dip! We ate an amazing meal on the patio to watch the sunset. It didn't really show off since there were so many clouds this evening but the food was delicious and our waitress was amazing. Four of us shared the cheese bread which was so light and delicious. Makes me wonder what the pizza is like if it's made like this. The red sangria was so refreshing. I had the fish tacos which had a generous portion of fish in them. With a slight spicy dressing. The mud pie is definitely worth the calories. Let's get back to the most friendly waitress we had on island, Lexi. What an engaging young lady! She was fun to kid around with and pleasant to talk to. She made great and honest recommendations about our food. She was our waitress at another restaurant and we realized we were eating here for a sunset meal and she said she worked the patio so we asked to be at her table. Had a fantastic time with my wife. We had an early dinner and were able to witness the beautiful sunset. We went during off leak season in late September and it was worth it. The food was delicious, I had the chimmichuri skirt steak and my wife had the dish with portobello mushrooms. Both were deliciously prepared. Mia our waitress was friendly and very attentive. Parking may be a challenge if you're driving as there appeared to be limited spots. Highly recommend you visit. read more

We had the pleasure of trying both the Sunset Grill bar and restaurant on our recent trip to St. Thomas. First observation, the venue and ambiance are amazing. See pics for why they call it "Sunset Grill." We arrived about an hour before our reservation and the restaurant weas not open yet. We decided to hang out at the bar, and it was fun! Great bartender, good drinks, but "island pricey." The Key Lime Cooler, Sassy Mango, Bushwacker and Lime in Da Coconut were all delicious! On to dinner... We were seated at our reservation time. The hostess, waiter and wait staff were all super nice. Brandon was our waiter, great job, attentive but not intrusive. We ordered the crab croquettes and jalapeno tempura octopus as appetizers. Both were very good. For the price, we had hoped for more octopus in that dish, it was a bit light on octopus! After we finished the drinks we brought from the bar, we ordered a nice pinot grigio which paired well with everything we had for dinner. Our entrees were surf and turf... the miso sea bass and chimichurri skirt steak. Both dishes were well prepared and presented. The sea bass was up there with some of the best we have had! The shirt steak was on point, the chimichurri sauce was close to our "Texas" standard... it was good! To close the evening, we decided on dessert... martinis and tres leches cake. The martinis were delicious, tiramisu and key lime. The tres leches cake was done right, milky on the bottom with a nice pile of whipped cream on the top. The Sunset Grill bar and restaurant are a good option to experience what St. Thomas has to offer in the way of craft cocktails and fine dining. As noted above, it is "island pricey," but for they deliver the goods... the experience is amazing. We would definitely go back next time we're in St. Thomas. read more

Overall a nice evening here. We arrived early for the Patio happy hour and had strong pours and a great cheese bread to start. We then moved to a table near the water for dinner. We enjoyed salads and small plates. The crab croquettes were very good. The ahi tuna was good but nothing special, just "good". We went to Sunset Bar & Grill for our 10th anniversary dinner. Only the hostess acknowledged it. Food was great; we chose the crusted ahi tuna and pork chop and both meals were delicious. But, the service was quite disappointing, not what you'd expect from an upscale restaurant. From the waitress reaching over us without warning to take things off the table or place things down, which was quite uncomfortable, to exchanging the dessert menu with our bill before we had a chance to look at it (we did still order dessert, though), overall the service was a real letdown. The prices weren't cheap, but that's to be expected for a beautiful waterfront location. The food and view are worth the visit if you can overlook the service. If not, there are many other places on the island that will meet your dining expectations. read more

Decent restaurant, offers some of the same entrees as Sea Salt, eg Sea Bass, but at a lesser price but it's exactly the same. The fish was cooked perfectly but the onion/pepper slaw on top was simply overpowering, left a distinct powerful raw onion flavor in your mouth, and quite frankly ruined the dish imo. Sea Salt the same experience (and slaw experience) but at much higher price. Sea Bass is delicate and deserves care when preparing, the slaw was just too much. The service was very good, prompt, and appetizer was good. If I went again I would order the sea bass without the slaw topping or I would order the whole snapper instead. Our dinner, appetizer, salad, drinks, and desert was about $200 total (3/12/26) for two. Relaxing venue, not too loud. I would eat here again. read more

I'm currently in Florida for surgery and, truth be told, a little bored--except when I go out to eat. Naturally, the first thing I did was start writing restaurant reviews (when in Rome... or at least, when on the internet). But since I actually live in St. Thomas, USVI, I thought I'd share my favorite spot back home: Sunset Grille. Located on the East End on the beach--where we live--it's our go-to for everything from a casual breakfast, lunch at the bar to a full dinner after 5pm. The food is always spot-on, the atmosphere is unmatched, and the staff consistently goes above and beyond. Like most island restaurants, the team can be transient with the ebb and flow of high and low season, but the quality of service attempts to never dips. Just remember this is Island Time. Whether it's lobster tail for breakfast, a fresh salad at lunch, or the guava pork chop for dinner, the kitchen nails it every time. Even their burger is cooked to perfection, and I can't resist pairing a spicy margarita with my husband's favorite fish tacos. Bottom line: Sunset Grille is a solid choice any time of day. Just one tip--don't play "tourist" and order coconut shrimp at the beach bar expecting a gourmet experience. Stick to the main menu, and you'll see why this place is a local favorite. read more

A must for a drink while watching the sunset! We ate at the Sunset Grille Patio, rather than the main restaurant. It had an absolutely gorgeous location and view of the water, sunset, and picturesque secret harbor beach. We started with drinks and watching the sunset and it could not be more perfect. The mango sangria with rose wine was full of fruit and delicious. We enjoyed the coconut shrimp appetizer, but the fish tacos were only so so (the grilled fish had a funny taste and the sauce wasn't anything special). The salad that came with the fish tacos was delicious. Our waitress was nice, but she appeared to be busy covering a lot of tables. read more

We dined at the Sunset Grille the last time we stayed on St. Thomas, and had an outstanding dining experience! The venue is divided into two sections, one for fine dining and the other for casual meals. Tip: Sunset Grille is contained within the Secret Harbour Resort The casual food they serve here is very good; it's consistent with what you'd expect at a tropical resort. On the other hand, the fine dining menu features first-tier food and exceptional service that would be the envy of any five star restaurant. The food in particular is impeccable, the service is friendly and attentive, and the views are nothing short of amazing! Everything we tried here was good, the two dishes that really stood out for me were the Red Snapper (the star of the fine dining menu; locally sourced and a joy to behold) and the Chilean Sea Bass (beautifully presented and perfectly seasoned). To sum it all up, both the casual and the fine dining menus here are consistently good; this restaurant is well worth the cost of a taxi ride if you don't happen to be staying at the Secret Harbour Resort. read more

One of our favorite dining experiences while on St Thomas. They take reservations, and while it wasn't busy when we were there, I'd imagine they can easily become busy and highly recommend making one. So many good food options here. Our big winners were the Caribbean Jerk Rib Eye Steak - so juicy and tender with delicious flavor. The baked Mac and cheese it comes with was super cheesy. The crab croquettes are also a great choice for appetizer. Fish is super fresh. They make good drinks here as well. They make a really good bushwacker - it's a sweet, blended drink that reminds me of a mudslide and was created in the Virgin Islands. They make a great one and is worth a taste. I really hate to give this restaurant a lower rating, because the food was amazing. But, the service from both the manager and staff was absolutely horrible. The service, unfortunately; vastly outweighed the food! Our group consisted of 14 guests. We were seated 7 at two separate tables that sat back to back. Unfortunately, we we only had one server to tend to both tables. We placed our drink and food ordered seamlessly. Soon after, the night completely spiraled out of control. You would think that it is common sense to enter both of our tables' orders into the the system at the same time or the communicate to the kitchen staff that all 14 orders need to be served together. Sadly, this did not happen. The other seven individuals in our party received their meals significantly ahead of ours. In fact, they had nearly finished their meals before ours even touched the table. Now, this wouldn't have been as big of an issue as it was, if our server had at least come back to our table to inform us of what was going on. She literally avoided us, even after we repeatedly attempted to flag her down to figure out what was happening with our meals. When our meals finally arrived, they were delivered with snide remarks from a woman whom I'm guessing with the manager. She didn't come to our table with an apology, she came with an excuse, claiming the size of our table was the issue. A simply apology would have gone a long way. As for the food....while the octopus was severely overcooked and rather bland, the red snapper was amazing. It was a pretty large piece that was cooked perfectly! The skin was extra crispy and the meat of the snapper was very moist. Sadly, as I mentioned at the beginning of my review, the service sadly outweighed the food. The staff and manager definitely could use some training, although there is no training needed to just be a kind person and to communicate properly with your customers. I hope this review finds its way to the owner(s) and changes are made. read more

We came here twice during our visit to the USVI, initially during one of our first days and then on our last day for lunch before heading to the airport. It's one of the few places on St. Thomas that offers an outdoor beach view. I'd return for the view and ambience. Food and service are so-so, depending on your luck. Be prepared to wait at least an hour for your food to arrive. We probably wouldn't have come here again on our last day since we had a plane to catch and really didn't have 2.5 hours to spare for a meal. The first time we came was great because we didn't mind waiting a long time for our food to arrive. They have an amazing beach view so it's a very enjoyable, relaxing wait. Just don't come here starving. Their drinks are reasonable priced and pretty much all of their food items are $15+. Their pizzas are great for sharing and for mains I recommend the fish tacos with a pineapple pico de gallo and their burger. Our second time here our waitress didn't catch my order of steak gyro and by the time the rest of our food came, she said it would take too long to make it so I ended up just eating off of everyone else's plates. They have a section of the menu that's dinner only, served after 5pm. Also half of the outdoor seating area is reserved for evening dining only, which seems like a waste during lunch hours because we had to wait at least 15 minutes to be seated for lunch, when there were clearly a ton of empty tables in the dinner section. On a fun note, the restaurant has a couple of resident chickens who like to roam around guests' tables and do an incredible job of eating all of the food dropped by (mostly) kids. read more

View was beautiful which is why we came here. Guide books and hotel said the food was good and the view was beautiful at sunset. This was our fanciest dinner on our trip celebrating our honeymoon so we were excited to sit and enjoy a quality meal however it went downhill. Losing stars because I did order salmon (my husband got the filet and said it was delicious and cooked perfect) and while my meal started out seasoned perfectly and evenly over fried rice as I got further it was raw inside. They took it back and made it again and AGAIN it was raw. They suggested I try the sea bass and said it wasn't cooked well because the salmon is frozen. I tried it and it was okay but it wasn't what I wanted. I understand salmon is not a Caribbean fish however don't put it on the menu if you don't know how to cook it. Another woman at the table behind me said oh I'm not sure I think I'll get the salmon and I wanted to turn and warn her that she shouldn't! I cook frozen salmon at home all the time and it comes out cooked through why can't a chef take care of it the same? When we got the bill, the had us pay for the sea bass and didn't take anything off of the bill. My husband kindly asked if anything could we just get the salmon price for the sea bass as it was considerably more money for something that I didn't order and that's all they did for us. There were no comped drinks or dessert which we did order as well. Server was kind and understanding but there is no excuse for raw food at a restaurant with as high of prices they had. read more

This place is a bit of a drive from downtown. The parking is ok, not plentiful but adequate. The restaurant sits right on the beach which is nice. The one side is open to the beach and the tables mostly all line up against that wall (or non wall). The service was a bit slow but it was acceptable. Prices fairly high but the food was of good quality. It poured while we were there and rain pours in from the connecting rooms through the pathways open to the sky so the floors were very wet and slippery. This is a hazard they would be well served to address before someone breaks an ankle. The drinks were ok, average. If this was not on the beach it probably would not get a second look. 3 stars for food and drinks but one more for the view and the sound of the ocean right in front of you. read more
