However, most tables were given biscuits besides ours. When asked, the server stated "Oh you wanted them? I'll see if we have" Food: We got brussel sprouts and octopus as our appetizers. These were amazing and set the bar high. Then our entrees were lackluster. The shrimp tasted very plain and could use a sear. The mahi was very overcooked. Dined at 3 Palms for the first time on our recent trip to St. Thomas. Nice place, venue is upper level in a building next to the marina. We arrived a bit ahead of schedule, so we opted for the bar and had a couple of cocktails. Nice speciality cocktail list, decent wine list. I normally make a few observations about our server, but I cannot in this review because we didn't really have a server. Service was chaotic,some times the waiter, some times the bartender, some times the manager, some times the hostess... it was a circus, with us having to repeat orders already given to another staff member because there was no communication between the staff.... It wasn't crowded, the restaurant was only about 50% full. The service chaos often resulted in dirty dishes left on the table for 15-20 minutes. We were also told at 8:30pn "the kitchen is closing is 15 minutes"... the restaurant is open until 10:00pm! Comical... so the food was rushed out, I assume, in time for them to lock the doors at 10:00pm. The food was decent enough, but the quality of the food didn't make up for the incoherent system of service. The service was a real downer, tough to justify the prices when we're just a party of two and the staff was fully engaged in entertaining other large tables. The food was good, but we don't need to go back. For the price, much better places on the island! read more

Such a sweet little dinner spot! Service was phenomenal- Bri took excellent care of us. I made a mistake of making the reservation for 2 people when it should have been 4 but they staff handled it perfectly. All I can say is, ORDER THE LOBSTER DUMPLINGS. I would have licked my plate if my better manners had not prevailed. One of my all time favorite meals on St Thomas. We also had the shrimp spaghetti - super tasty but don't expect it to have red sauce. We also had the pork ragú that was pretty tasty as well. We went to 3 Palms with another couple and the experience was terrible. Our food took an hour and 15 minutes to arrive. Our table agreed that the reason it was taking so long was because they must have had to redo one of the dishes for some reason. However, when our food arrived, all 4 dishes were luke warm at best. In fact, my wife's prime rib was literally cool to the touch. When the manager came out, at our request, he assured us the food wasn't luke warm because he is always at the food staging area. Had a delightful dinner at Three Palms. Nestled in Red Hook, our hostess seated us at an outdoor table. The lobster dumplings and the tuna special were mouth watering. We both had the grouper special. Very seldom do I want to lick my plate clean but I would have made an exception. I came here on a vacation with a group of 8 people and had an amazing time! We made reservations about two weeks before hand and got a table outside with a gorgeous view of the harbor! The service throughout dinner was attentive and I thought the staff was very knowledgeable about the menu. I started out with the rosa tequila cocktail and thought it was refreshing and not too sweet! For appetizers the star was the lobster dumplings! They served biscuits with it that were perfect for enjoying the delicious sauce left over on the plate! For main courses I tried the swordfish, cod and a side of Brussels sprouts. All were delicious but the swordfish was my favorite. It was served over a bed of buttered greens and fresh tomatoes that was perfect! I would definitely recommend coming here! They can accommodate small, family and large group dinning with high quality food and gorgeous views One thing to be aware of is that they do charge for the water they serve! Pretty decent food. It was a pleasant night when we dined here so we had our food outside on their patio. While we enjoyed the experience, nothing we had here was overly special. But all-in-all their food was tasty. I think the best dish we had here was the fish. It was fresh and perfectly cooked, if not a bit less substantial than expected based on the price. 4.5 stars! We picked an outdoor table for date night. Appetizer: lobster dumplings- great sauce and texture for dumpling wrapper. I wish each dumpling was bigger for the price. Entrées: scallops- no pepper and a bit on the saltier side and the yellow pepper sauce could use more flavor. I asked for pepper, a side of butter and lemon wedges and it made all the difference. Asparagus was perfectly cooked. Ribeye- cooked and broiled perfectly to medium and gravy was flavorful and yummy. Drinks: painkiller and blueberry skies. Strong and great flavors for both drinks! Would order both again! Apparently they make their drinks strong in the island:D Dessert: chocolate tarte with candied pecans: rich and chocolaty, so good! Enough to share. The service, ambiance and food were exceptional. We had Scott serving and he made numerous recommendations and was very honest, he was spot on. We had the lobster dumplings, gnocchi, a cheeseboard and burrata as apps. For meals, our group was heavy on the filet, also a special breaded veal and seared veal special. As sides, we had spinach, broccolini, whipped potatoes and asparagus, all were excellent. I read an earlier review that the service was haphazard. We had a dedicated server but the bartender/owner and host were all helpful in covering drinks and chatting. This is apparently offseason so restaurant was pretty quiet the two nights we were there. One of the better meals we've had on the island...4.5! Reserved online for 6:15 outdoor dining and was seated on the edge of the patio next to planters with plants above our heads. After a few minutes, asked to move to the table for 2 in the center of the patio so we could feel the breeze and see the marina better... and was glad we did. The 3 other 2 seater tables were empty until about 15 minutes before we left. Staff were friendly and accommodating though so that was nice! Lobster dumpling appetizer was really good! Used the biscuits as others did to enjoy the sauce left on the plate! Mains- I got the Mahi Mahi and my husband got the Veal Schnitzel. We added on a 6 oz lobster tail, Brussel sprouts and potatoes. Planned to share everything. Mahi Mahi was good but not great- the sauce could be more elevated in terms of flavor. I'd hoped for something really enjoyable like the flavors in the lobster dumpling sauce were... but this sauce didn't quite hit the mark for us. It was fresh, nice and a smaller portion in the event you aren't too hungry. The lobster was good. The veal schnitzel was the winner! Nice and flavorful- larger portion too. It was a challenge to find the restaurant. (TIP: It is best to map to "Hook'd" and go upstairs--3 Palms is immediately above Hook'd.) While meandering lost on the island we called for directions and to let them know about our status. We got a recording but moments later we received a call back and a text (very nice touch). We had a reservation for outdoor seating and sat overlooking the marina at American Yacht Harbor. We enjoyed the soft evening breeze in soaking in casual yet elegant vibe. Service was warm, friendly, and attentive. We opted for cocktails rather than wine and our drinks were quite delicious and beautifully garnished. Dinner started with the lobster dumplings which were sublime. Warm biscuits (crisp and buttery on the outside and soft on the inside) came out shortly afterwards. We were able to dip them in the velvety sauce that accompanied our dumplings. To be honest, they were so good on their own, we opted to savor much of our biscuits without sauce. We opted for grouper, snapper, and chicken entrees. All were outstanding and most notable was the Grouper Ponchartrain sautéed in a lemon butter sauce with giant lumps of crabmeat adorning it. We topped it all off with a chocolate tart with raspberries--a perfect conclusion to a great meal. We are grateful to the chef and staff who made our meal memorable. read more

I live nearby and this is usually my favorite place. But tonight it failed on all counts. I ordered the mahi and clearly stated not to overcook. It came out way overcooked. No argument and about 15 min later yet another overcooked fish. I returned it and ate nothing! My friends had finished their meals by then. But it gets worse. They ordered a steak medium rare And it came out way overcooked. They ate it anyway but were not happy. On this island it all comes down to how the cook feels that day. Clearly I picked a very poor day. Sadly the waitress did not even offer me another dish. Indeed on the second overcooked fish it was ten minutes before she even came by. 3 Palms is by far the best restaurant we ate at the entire week we were in St. Thomas and St. John. We were traveling for our honeymoon and ate at several fancy restaurants on both islands (all which were fabulous), but 3 Palms was the one restaurant we would travel back for just to eat there. We only heard about the restaurant because a bartender on Saint John recommended it to us. We were a little worried at first, because not a lot of people on the island seem to know about it and we couldn't find it on the map. It's really a hidden gem on the water and Red Hook. We shared the octopus appetizer, which was perfectly cooked. My husband got the pumpkin and squash soup which was absolutely fabulous. We also shared the lobster dumplings, which are an absolute must. These are a staple on their menu and you must try them while you're here. The dumpling sauce was so good we slopped all of it up with the biscuits! My husband ordered the mahi and I ordered the snapper. Both were delicious and the snapper had a wonderful crispy outside. We are so glad we listened to the recommendation and will definitely be coming back! read more

WORST service I've received at any restaurant in a longgg time...and no they were not busy! Our server was sitting socializing with her other table majority of our time here. We weren't asked how the appetizer was or if we needed anything (would've loved lemon). A second drink took over 25mins to get. Had to get up and find her to ask to order main entrees. I'm currently pregnant and can't eat spicy without horrible heartburn. She advised the Thai soup wasn't spicy because they can make it without peppers so I did. (I typically love spicy), but this soups was INCREDIBLE spicy even without the peppers. It was almost inedible even for my boyfriend who loves spice too (hotter than medium at a typical thai restaurant). I woke up all night from heartburn from eating one bite. I had to switch meals with my boyfriend otherwise I wouldn't have been able to eat since she NEVER came back again for me to order something else. From the time we ASKED her to take our order, the only other time she came to our table was to bring the bill AFTER we finished and had to ask the bus girl to ask her to bring our bill. Mind you she only had 2 other tables (1 which finished well before us). Such a shame this was our last night on the island and so disappointing especially when their prices are pretty high. BEST meal we had on the island!!! If you go you must get the lobster dumplings (my husband said this was probably his best bite of our trip). I was in St Thomas in February and I decided to take my girlfriend to 3 Palms for dinner and what a great surprise. The food, the staff, and the ambiance is stupendous. I tip my hat to the owner for the fabulous restaurant. I am not going mince words.. I really like 3 Palms. One of the best restaurants on the island. We started at the bar which is very nice. Very comfortable. The bartender could not have been nicer. Great service. After our cocktails... we went to our table which was outside on the deck overlooking the harbor. For starters.... My girlfriend and I split the Caribbean lobster dumplings which were superb. Highly recommend them. For my main coarse.. I had a seasonal pasta which I cannot remember. My bad. It was very good. I think it was an Alfredo. Sucks to get old. My girlfriend had the halibut which she loved. I had a bite and it was superb. For dessert.. we split the key lime pie. Delicious. Our server was exceptional! Very attentive. If you are looking for a superb restaurant in Redhook with great food and service.... 3 Palms is the place. Will defiantly be back!! FYI.... Ambiance is wonderful sitting slightly above the Harbor on the outside deck. Friday night and surprisingly the place was maybe 1/3 fill, most outside. Waitstaff was ok, nothing special. Somewhat attentive. Had a nice bottle of wine. They brought a couple of biscuits as an appetizer after we asked for bread. Very small and somewhat dried out. We had the shrimp risotto and the mahi ponchartrain. 5 shrimp and a thin layer of risotto. Taste was good, not great. The mahi was a disappointment. Probably an 8 oz filet and a very small amount of crab meat on top. It sat on what I thought was going to be a decent amount of veggies. Ended up being 7 snow peas. I am not necessarily a big eater, but they absolutely could have supplemented it with a decent amount of veggies and rice and it would have cost them next to nothing and made a much happier customer. It was tasty and presentation was nice, but I really felt kind of ripped off. Not a place I would likely go back to next time we are here. read more

The only good thing about this restaurant was our waitress. We were very excited to try this place out given its semi-new. When you walk in, it has a nice ambiance to it. The menu is VERY limited so if you're a picky eater, I would suggest somewhere else. They bring you biscuits with honey butter on them (pretty good) to start. We got the ribeye, filet, and pasta as our second course. For the price of the food, it tastes very mediocre and the portion sizes are pretty small. We went to this restaurant on 4/18/2021,it was excellent! we had the lobster dumplings which were delicious. The kale salad was large, fresh and had a great dressing. Our concierge recommended 3 Palms. I was a little bit skeptical because the valet guy a couple days before had recommended a different restaurant that wasn't that great but we went and I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is very nice. We requested the balcony, but it was fully booked. It had a view of the harbor with the boats. But, the inside dining room is well appointed with chandeliers, cool lighting and a very welcoming vibe. Our servers, Alex and Scott were very good. All of the food was outstanding. The swordfish was the best that I've ever had. The cauliflower side dish was fabulous. The octopus appetizer was wonderful. The chef is the dad of our server. I wish I had a restaurant just like this in my town. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town. This is the best restaurant that I've eaten at in a very long time. read more
