We are staying at Marriott's Frenchman's Cove. We went to Sunset Cove for dinner at 6:30pm. We ordered a Caesar Salad, half a rack of ribs and an appetizer. The appetizer came out in reasonable time. After being assured that the food was "coming right out", two hours passed is by and still no food. We finally gave up after watching the people around us, who came in after we did, get their food. The view is pretty awesome, but service is lacking and food and drink are ok. As part of a Marriott resort I would've expected slightly better service, but the food was tasty, even though it takes quite a while to get your meal. The drinks are pretty good and while I've read that they skimp on the alcohol, that was definitely not true when we came! The bar service is good, although not super fast. Convenient spot for a casual bite while at the Marriott Frenchman's Cove. Location is great, right next to the pool and beach. Service is on "island time" (i.e., not quick), and pretty responsive. They have good pub grub menu options with some entrees, sandwiches and salads. Food and drinks were both great. Drinks are obviously going to be on the pricey side being at a resort ($15 for cocktails). But going at happy hour (4-6pm) will get you half priced drinks (beer, wine and cocktails). Getting an order for food takeout for the beach or poolside can be very long. We ordered two appetizers and they took close to an hour. So be sure to have a few extra cocktails on hand to hold you over! And FYI, the Marketplace shop right next door has cold canned beer, wine, seltzers and soda if you don't want to wait at the bar. They also have miscellaneous supplies, apparel, baked goods, and ice cream. And it all has a laid back vibe. All in all, the Marriott does a nice job of having a convenient and quality spot for drinks, snacks, dinner, and brunch at a great location. Just don't be in a rush! It's nasty up by the ordering counter. Lines move quick, drinks are good and strong. Only complaint, they're probably the most expensive on the island. No joke. We spent a couple days in Red Hook, and a couple in Havensight - these drinks are like $20 a pop! Luckily, we came at happy hour so it made the drinks "normal price" but I would have been upset if I had stayed here because I would have gone broke just drinking. Other than that, locations great. We had ordered breakfast a few times to go and it was really good, so we thought we would give it a try for dinner. I had the Curry Chicken and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Since this is just a small bar and grill at the resort I didn't expect much but I was really impressed. On top of that our server was really friendly and made our experience lovely. The Sunset Cove Poolside Bar & Grill is located by the pool area of the Marriot Frenchman's Cove Resort on St Thomas Island in the Virgin Islands and is a convenient but expensive spot for relaxing with a large variety of $13 tropical drink options poolside with a beautiful view! Unfortunately, due to covid, there is no actual Poolside cabana service of any kind. You have to leave your cabana or lounge chair, walk up to the grill area, wait in line, place your order at a register, and then pick up your order in 15 minutes when it's ready. The lady at the grill order area was quite a sour pickle, not friendly, and plain out not pleasant to deal with at all. The gentleman working at the bar area was much more pleasant and friendly. No one from the kitchen anounces your order is ready so you just have to estimate for yourself and go back when you think it's been 15 minutes or so. Normally, a server would approach you while you're relaxing in your Poolside lounge chair, offer menus, and brings your order to your lounge chair when it's ready. Unfortunately, due to covid, the previously large menu with 30+ menu items has been reduced to just 6 offerings including a hummus pita plate, island wings, sunset Burger, grilled chicken sandwich, Caesar salad with grilled chicken, and a cove house salad with chicken. The current menu is definitely missing any kind of seafood. Previously the pre-covid menu had Mahi tacos, shrimp, Ahi Tuna, and nightly rotating entrees. I really wish they'd bring back all these menu options. Margaritaville St Thomas Resort's waterfront restaurant still manages to serve a full breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu and all the restaurants in town still manage to serve a full menu so I really don't see why Marriot's Sunset Cove Bar & Grill can't. It's not like there's a lack of demand or a lack of guests at the Marriot Frenchman's Cove Resort. The Resort pool area is near capacity and busy as it is so I really doubt any of the food would go to waste. The Sunset Burger with Angus beef, bacon, cheddar, Swiss cheese, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato on a brioche bun with chips. The burger was tasty, filling, and not overcooked. 8/10 The Grilled Chicken sandwich comes with bacon, cheddar, Swiss cheese, lettuce tomato, pickles, Spicy mayo, on a brioche bun with chips. The chicken came out a little over- cooked and dry. 6/10 The island wings comes with 6 wings tossed in BBQ, Mango Jerk, or Buffalo sauce with celery and ranch. I got the Buffalo sauce for a kick and it wasn't bad but for $14 they could have provided at least 10 wings. 7/10 The Pomegranate Blueberry Coconut Colada was pretty tasty and definitely unique. 8/10 The voodoo juice bucket came with Cruzan Banana, coconut, mango, citrus, pineapple, & blackberry rum with pineapple & fruit juices is a huge serving and very potent. 9/10 The Bushwacker comes with dark rum, kahlua, hazelnut liquor, creme De cocoa, amaretto blended with creme of coconut, ice cream, and nutmeg. 9/10 The Pain Reliever came with light & dark rum, cream of coconut, orange juice, pineapple juice, nutmeg, and a dark rum floater. 9/10 If you factor in the $10-$14 per person it costs to take a taxi to get to town to get food and drinks elsewhere, the above average pricing at the Sunset Cove poolside bar & Grille definitely seems a bit more reasonable and convenient. The view from Marriot Frenchmans Cove Resorts pool is really nice too. If you're at Marriot Frenchman Cove and like burgers, wings, or tropical drinks, it's not a bad option. If you're craving seafood or a greater variety of foods you will currently have to take a taxi all the way to town. Unfortunately, theres not enough menu items currently for those wishing not to leave the resort's property during their vacation. The whole point of a nice hotel is to have a full service restaurant so you don't have to leave the property. Operating off an extremely limited menu brings the appeal of the entire resort down unfortunately. It's a real inconvenience to go all the way to town for every meal because the Resorts only restaurant decided to only offer 6 menu items. I really hope management restores the previously offered full menu with 20+ menu options as the current limited menu is not enough for resort guests that wish not to leave the property for every meal. read more

4.5 stars. The Sunset Cove Bar & Grill offers you're traditional poolside favorites (wraps, burgers, wings, etc.). You're on an island and you're staying at the Marriott. Foods not that cheap when you're in the middle of the Caribbean, but here, you're going to be paying the same amount no matter where you dine. I enjoyed their ahi tuna salad made into a wrap, served with fries. I also like their mahi sandwich and their pita pocket with mahi inside. All were satisfying and filling. The service was quick and their staff was pleasant. Tuesday night, we enjoyed their pasta night and open mic night. The Alfredo pasta was SO good! My dad liked his marinara pasta. Warning, you can definitely share- the portions were huge (enough for 2 or leftovers). Take in the views and see some iguanas as well! Sneaky things! read more

Well the location is excellent as you are poolside at the nicest timeshare resort on island. Tell the guard at the gate you are headed to the restaurant and you are good to go. Monday night $24.95 buffet is good and go during happy hour 4-7 and drinks are 2 for 1. So 2 Carib's $6 is a good deal. The food is good even off the menu. You will wait a while as the place is always busy but relax and enjoy the view. Service is great as you would expect from any Marriott. It is rather noisy here with concrete everywhere and an open air place. A few TVs are showing sporting events as well. It is almost too loud to carry on a nice conversation so if you are looking for romantic and quiet, this is not the place. Prices are decent but this is a cashless location so bring your credit card. Go Monday night and enjoy the free fire show on the beach at sunset. This is a fun place to eat that won't break the bank. read more

There was karaoke at night with a dj. Kinda cool for the family. Put bug spray there are lots of sand flies and flies. This place is within the Frenchman cove Marriott. You can go places outside the resort. This bar is right next to the ppl and a few steps from the beach. There's a boardwalk close by if you want to walk after eating. Private place and not noisy. since we are staying at the Marriott timeshare, this place is closest place to have breakfast, lunch and dinner. so far, we had both bfast and lunch and dinner. dined and also did take out. on our 1st day for late lunch, our server Benedita was very courteouse, full of island charm. she served us with big smile. Yes, things take lil time (what we call island time) and yes price is lil high compare to state side. However, after spending few days in town, you will know Sunset Cove Bar and Grill is above norm in price (not that expensive) and service (not that slow). When the bill came out, I gave wrong room # (4 digits instead of 3) and she was perfectly fine with that. When i ran into her later that day inquiring about my mistake t, she just smiled and told me everything was fine. What a relief. We had bfast omellet that was excellent and also other items. However, fried plaintain with special sauce (has kick to it) was our favorite. Yes, the price is kinda high but compare to other goodies around town, it was good deal. Where else can you get good meal in clean enviroment with great view? pool has no servers. you have to walk over to the bar area and order your drinks and the carryout food. if you are done with your food, throw them away or seagull will be doing it for ya. read more

It's your typical restaurant located at an exotic resort. It's poolside, has open-air seating, and has gorgeous all-around views of the Caribbean ocean. The family whose vacation I was crashing had a family wedding meet-and-greet sort of deal going on nearby, so myself and two other family friends who had come along but were not part of the wedding festivities decided that we would have dinner here while we waited for their wine social to wind down. The view alone is worth five stars. It's beautiful and picturesque and looks exactly like the travel brochures and the tv shows make it out to be -- tropical, beautiful, warm, and just all-around lovely. The people-watching is great too, since a part of the restaurant is open-air AND poolside. Hello, sunburned tourists and rowdy children! The food, while good, isn't much to write home about. I wasn't necessarily blown away by everything that we tried. And pricing the pricing is a little on the high side, but it's expected since it's a resort restaurant. Otherwise, honestly, no real complaints. I would recommend that people at least come to the resort and walk around since the views alone are incomparable (there are even some designated selfie spots!), but unless you're pretty starving and don't have other options, I'd skip out on the food. read more

For a hotel pool bar and restaurant I thought this was a great spot! You have views of the ocean and pool and it's so convenient to be able to grab a drink and enjoy the sunshine. We had lunch there and I'd say it was very average. We had fish tacos and nachos and they were as to be expected. We thought the portions were a good size and weren't able to finish it all for lunch. The mozzarella sticks definitely hit the spot after a day out in the sun though. Service seemed to be a problem. There was always a bit of a line to order at the bar. When we had service at our table it wasn't always consistent. We rarely saw our waitress and sometimes just ended up going to the bar. At one point she told us the kitchen was closed and then a couple minutes later asked if we wanted menus. So all very confusing from a service perspective. But we were happy with our mimosas and the views! A good casual spot to go if you're in the Marriott area or doing an excursion nearby. read more

Otherwise, instead of $6 beers, you should just buy them for $3 each at the market next door. Liked multiple food items I tried and the loaded nachos were huge! Disappointed that the football menu burger was the same as the regular, but you then had to pay extra for fries! Their Sat/Sunday brunch for $22 with bottomless mimosas were a decent deal as well. Unless you're starving, and trapped at the marriott without anyway of walking/ taxing elsewhere then maybe you could maybe consider eating here. Otherwise, just don't do it. The view is spectacular, but apart from that everything from the service to the food is horrible. It takes ages after you are seated for the waitstaff to get to you for your orders. The food when it does arrive (at least 45mins after the actual order) is pretty horrid, especially for the steep prices. My lemonade order arrived after both me and my husband had finished our meals, and were trying to get the waitress's attention for the bill. She just plopped down a glass of lukewarm frozen lemonade (the kind that comes out of a can, but here they charge you 6bucks for) without any apologies or acknowledgment that the drink was so freaking late that i'd forgotten i'd ordered it. Anyway. In short, don't make the mistake of coming here. And don't listen to the desk staff when they say the food is good. Oh- and for one bad veggie burger + under cooked fries, and two overcooked fish tacos (can you even overcook fish?! it was so chewy I thought i was eating chicken) and chips + one lukewarm lemonade we were set back $45bucks. Sunset's restaurant views are simply breathtaking, but their snappy hostess, forgetful waitress and eager seagull attacks for food made it hard to find the beauty in our temporary surroundings. Within seconds after being seated, we were asked whether we knew what we wanted to drink. The drinks were quickly delivered and the waitress was back asking if we were ready to order. We asked for a few additional minutes since we were still admiring the view and had not had a chance to look at the menu. She returned no more than 30 seconds later and asked if we were ready to order. At this point, my boyfriend leaned over and asked "do you get the feeling that they are trying to hurry us out?" I definitely agreed, though their restaurant space was maybe 1/4 occupied only. The Rock Shrimp and Crab Cake was pretty good, but felt very inferior to the gigantic bun that was overwhelming it. We also ordered the Ceviche in search of a lighter dish and found that it was very generously portioned with seafood, but it did not taste fresh at all. Since both dishes were lacking that extra flavoring that would make us say "this is good!" we entertained ourselves by doing mixed concoctions between the two dishes and came up with some pretty flavorful ones. We never mind shelling out money for good food or a worthy dining experience, but unfortunately, Sunset Cove Bar and Grill was a disappointment. read more

Another overpriced restaurant at the Frenchman's Reef with seriously watered down mixed drinks and mediocre food. $18.50 for a burger which is one of the least expensive things on the menu. Our food arrived about half an hour before we had to leave for the airport even though we had already been waiting for about an hour and there weren't that many people at that time of day. The waitress seemed bothered because of the kitchen's cock up of some of our plates which we had to switch out at a very crowded table. The restaurant overlooks the ocean and has lots of beautiful scenery and that's about it. Go elsewhere if you can. read more

Don't even think about it. Take the free shuttle from the lobby over to Havana Blue (at the Morningstar side of the Marriott). For the same price per entre you get a fresh piece of fish or meat at Havana Blue vs the standard sysco/us food piece served here. Served by real servers who care about your dining experience vs the Marriott employed locals who (to me seemed like) they were untrained to serve the mainly northeastern mainland guests. read more

Ridiculous prices for small alcoholic drinks in small plastic cups. $11.50 for a plastic drink a mojito barely any liquor in it. Food barely average . Slowest waitress service. The waitress Shelly shouldn't even be working here. She was assigned our table and never waited on us . Instead she pretended to be cleaning tables.Someone from the back I guess kitchen, whom had a hair net came to us after about 20 mins to take our order.She said she was not the waitress but would take our order. If you are staying at the Marriott's Villas you are limited in your choices to dine at the hotel. The prices are jacked up here, taking advantage of this fact. The food is good, but way over priced. They do run two happy hours but that doesn't make up for the high prices. You're much better off bringing your own food and drink to the hotel with you (which it is set up for). The service here is not bad, the servers are friendly as is the bar staff. It can get a bit crowded so if you're in a group, you may want to stakeout your tables early. read more

If I wasn't staying at the resort I wouldn't recommend the place. Even though I was staying onsite I seriously thought about taking a taxi into town and buying my own booze. The quality of the food is decent and the views are very nice. We went on a day when it started to rain. Unfortunately, the kitchen is located across from the seating area, so our food was carried over in pouring rain and served. Soggy fries and a burger isn't very appetizing. This happened to most of the other patrons as well. The restaurant could easily use serving tray covers to fix this issue, but I do not think the management cares. read more

I have to say, I am very disappointed about the food here. It's definitely overpriced AND I would say they have the worst beef short ribs I ever had.
