Really enjoyed our meal here but were surprised by the atmosphere. It's in a kinda sketchy area complete with beggars greeting you at the door. It's definitely a jeans and flip flops feel which we were not expecting. Nonetheless the meal was excellent. I had a Caesar salad with a wonderful light dressing and coconut shrimp which weren't at all greasy or heavy. We weren't in a gumbo mood but our waiter insisted it was the best and brought out a taste and my husband agreed it was excellent. Came here my first day on the island since this was really one of the places at the top of my list. We were gonna dine in but decided to take the food to go and head down to Brewers beach. BUTTTTTT what I really came to say was get the conch fritters and not just one order you'll be mad!!! I ate at so many places while on the island..... but I couldn't get over the conch fritters they were just really that damn good!!! For entrees we both got the blackened snapper which came with rice and a corn salsa which was 10/10. The food looks nothing like the pictures! Most of those items aren't even on the menu, in fact. I wouldn't say any of the food was disgusting or inedible, but I couldn't say much more about it either. It was quite mediocre and left us feeling sick and in the bathroom for over half an hour. Very greasy, and it all tasted like it was heated from frozen. To be specific, the braised short ribs came overcooked with RAW broccoli, very salty. The blackened snapper was also so salty, and the rice and corn it came with were so greasy and heavy that we couldn't finish the dish. My friend who ordered the snapper eats very passionately, so this is out of character for her. The shrimp and crawfish etoufee was fine. The fried conch was the highlight, but I can't say it's enough to go back for. The Painkiller cocktail was painful to drink - tasted like straight soap, DISGUSTING. The lemonade was obviously from a powder mix, but somehow much cheaper than the $7 liters of water. The service left something to be desired. To start off, an automatic 25% service charge was added to our bill for THREE PEOPLE with no warning on the menu or front of the restaurant. This was absurdly expensive, not to mention the fact that the bill was the first time we learned that they were charging us for water. Would have been nice to know that! Thanks server Zach! Additionally, their card reader wasn't working, so they asked us to visit a sketchy ATM next door, where we were charged a service fee to withdraw cash. This was the most expensive, crappiest meal I've had in a longggg time. Would not recommend it to my worst enemy. read more

This restaurant was recommended from our time share. It is a cute quaint place which makes you feel like you are in NOLA. Nice decor, and the staff were great! We ordered the zucchini fries to start and I got the pasta and chicken dish. This was delicious! The zucchini fries were addicting! We ate them all! My chicken pasta dish was bursting with flavor! So good!! Justen also ordered the short rib with a cheesy grit. The short rib was very tender the grits had a little funk from the cheese. Still delicious! We were told that the restaurant is no longer acknowledging the free appetizer for staying at Wyndham. Our server also told us that their pay was cut..this was disheartening to hear. Went to French Quarter Bistro for dinner tonight. Was just OK, not up to the hype in some of the reviews... we arrived early for our reservation, which was no problem, because the restaurant was mostly empty at the time. We were seated quickly and Vicki, our waitress, came by immediately and took drink orders, and provided information about the nightly specials. Service was good, attentive, but not intrusive. We ordered a gin martini and escargot as an appetizer. The cocktail was good, the escargot not so much. The escargot was presented in a low rimmed dish in a watered down butter sauce. The dish did not have much flavor. The tasted garlic bread on the side was great!! We also added a bottle of chablis to finish the dinner. The wine was served at the appropriate temperature and was good. One observation about the wine list... It is comprised of mostly large producers, who emphasize volume over quality, so while there is something for everyone on the wine list, it is not that impressive. For dinner, we ordered the sea bass special and the local snapper, blackened. The Seabass was very good, accompanied by a vegetable risotto. The fish was prepared well, but the sauce on top was very bland. The local snapper, blackened, was overcooked, and the fish was a bit tough. The sides of corn and rice were well prepared, but again lacked depth of flavor. For dessert, we ordered the pecan pie, à la mode... The ice cream was delicious, but the pie was just OK. All in all, it was an OK meal, the price was not bad, but we likely would not go back, given the other dinner options on the island. read more

We came here for dinner on a Sunday night and it wasn't too busy. We were greeted right away and our waitress was so kind and friendly. We started off with wine and bruschetta which was tasty. For our entrees I ordered the short ribs and grits while my husband had the steak au poivre. My husband's steak was good, but the real star was the short ribs. We had a wonderful dinner this evening at French Quarter Bistro. We were greeted by Zach who also served as our waiter-he was attentive and friendly throughout our meal. I ordered the escargot and beet salad for my meal, while my husband had the shrimp Alfredo. Everything was tasty and we finished our meal completely. We ordered the Bananas Foster Bread Pudding with vanilla ice cream for dessert-delicious! Zach was attentive to our needs, even while busy with a large table of 18. This was by far the best meal of our current trip to the Island. We'd encourage visitors to plan a meal here. Entree's are pictured and everything was delicious. I don't even like pimento cheese but got the short ribs with spicy pimento cheese grits and OMG . The meat had so much flavor too. Just fell right off the bone! One of us got the chicken Alfredo and the sauce was LIGHTS OUT delicious. You'd think an Italian spot would know how to make the best Alfredo...Nope! This place makes the most amazingly, creamy, full of flavor sauce. I wish I could buy it by the bottle and take it with me. The special was a crab stuffed grouper and man, another good one! Miles tried to talk us into the banana bread pudding but none of really liked banana bread pudding and didn't have the appetite for both desserts. When the dessert came out, banana bread pudding came too. We reminded him we didn't order that and he insisted to keep it, on the house. We all tried it and SO GLAD we did. Another OMG moment! We all ate every last bite!! You have to save room for it and order even if you don't like bread pudding normally. The beignets we so warm and powder sugar clouds all over it. Even better was dipping the beignets in the sauce on the bread pudding plate. I don't think I have eaten anywhere in my life EVER that had amazing service, and the best food ever tasted...app, entree and dessert. Trifecta of perfection. Oh my gosssshhhhh yes this spot is 10/10 We were stumped on where to go so late, and our hotel recommended 5 places. All were just about closed when we were finally ready to dine. We called to ensure they could seat us and they quickly said yes if you're here by 845 pm (google said they closed at 9, it was 830pm). So we knew what we wanted and got this awesome bottle of red to enjoy. It's a Louisiana New Orleans type feel and cuisine. Very homie, they knew what they were doing and execute perfectly. The dishes are versatile and quality, we only got an entree each and I even had my shrimp and grits in the morning it was so good lol. Huge portions, a normal dinner bill. The a service by the name of Lisa also is in the transportation industry and can assist with car services! I'd highly recommend checking this dinner joint while on your stay in st Thomas. read more

My family and I just loved this place while visiting St Thomas. The ambiance is charming and the service is beyond friendly. Our waitress was Lisa and she was incredible! Both the menu and prices have changed! They no longer serve one of the perennial New Orleans favorites: shrimp 'n' grits. Now what's REALLY deceptive is that the on-line website menu features cheesy grits which, of course, one could combine with barbecued shrimp. But - once you're there - the waiter tells you the on-line menu is not what they're serving. Not only that...the waiter doesn't listen. Conch fritters is an appetizer but I ordered it specifically as a main course - repeating that twice - since my husband ordered jambalaya. We asked to split a beet salad first. Because the waiter didn't bother to listen, he brought the conch fritters to me as an appetizer and my husband waited another 20 minutes for his jambalaya and beet salad. To say the service is slow is an understatement, even though we were there at 2 pm and the restaurant was not crowded. So disappointing to experience this at what used to be one of our favorite restaurants. read more

I had the jumbo fried coconut shrimp. It was absolutely delicious! It was so good. I came back the next day and ordered the same thing. It didn't disappoint. The service was terrific. The server we had was amazing, patient kind, sincere professional. It was obvious she was interested in us having a good experience. Ambiance and decor could definitely use some updating. This was our first real meal in the USVIs and it set the bar high. We walked over to the french quarter from our hotel and did not have a reservation. It was Monday night around 8pm. We were able to get seated at a nice table in the corner, where we had full view of the bar and the TVs playing sports. Our server, Brenda, was with us quickly and was great throughout the night with her recommendations, both regarding food, and the islands! They do not have a kids menu, but we started the night with gumbo and the black bean soups. Both were excellent and my kids made it their meal. We added a side of rice and they were in heaven. We also had the fried zucchini, which was just ok. For my entree, I had the snapper in a lemon caper sauce and it was delicious. The sauce was not too strong in the lemon flavoring, which was good for me. Only change would be to cook the fish a bit less, as the outside was a little hard for me. This is a hidden gem located in Frenchtown on St. Thomas. The atmosphere is very casual and the restaurant has a local feel. The Creole food was outstanding and the service was beyond compare. Our server (Lisa) was one of the best servers I have ever experienced. Her explanation of the menu and her recommendations were spot on.
