    38. Grilled Lamb with Cumin and 13. Sliced Beef Noodle Soup

I FINALLY found authentic Chinese food in Buffalo. It only took me 6 years...I'm so happy I found this place. I'll be back over and over again.

I've been eyeing this place for a while on Yelp and finally gave it a try! It is a small hole-in-the-wall place sandwiched between a deli and hair salon. There are only 5 tables and a counter with a few stools. When I came on a weekday night, it was pretty busy. Every table was taken. I knew I had to order the Chinese burger with pork. It was absolutely delicious!! The pork was like a pulled pork consistency, and it was very flavorful. The bread was crispy and added a nice texture. I would've preferred more meat though. I felt that it was a little lacking in size. My fiancé and I also ordered the beef noodle soup, stir fried tomato and egg, as well as the double cooked pork with leek. Flavors were on point and not too oily. Portions were huge so we had plenty to take home. Give this place a try!! The service was excellent. Also, there is self serve water and hot tea.

Here is another Buffalo authentic Chinese restaurant awaiting your discovery if you aren't already a devotee. I ordered one of the traditional lamb dish from Northwest China, Cumin Lamb with onions; it was absolutely delightful, the lamb was quite tender, fragrantly cumin spiced and absolutely delicious. The veggie rolls were an added bonus to an overall wonderful takeout dining experience.

This is a small restaurant that mainly serves takeout. That said, there are several tables and the hostess is more than willing to also be a waitress. The flavors and the food were phenomenal. The dumplings had a light texture with just a hint of crunch on the wrapping. The chicken with chilis is lightly fried without much oil, and the chili flavors are strong, flavorful and memorable. We also ordered a side for my daughter of chicken fried rice. This was also very tasty and not oily. If you're in the area, give this place a try.

Truly a hidden gem in Buffalo. It is a bit cold in here and it's not very big, but the food makes it worth it. Have a free cup of tea too while you're waiting. My favorite dishes are the youpo noodle and beef with cumin. The youpo noodle is a flat, thick noodle that has a kick of spice to it but is not too spicy. The beef with cumin has an interesting flavoring that I can't exactly describe but would definitely recommend to anyone no matter how high or low their spice tolerance is. The Chinese burgers are also a unique dish I haven't found elsewhere in the area, and my boyfriend and I devoured them pretty quickly (apologies for no photo -- I forgot to take one) I thought the sliced beef noodle soup, fried dumplings, and scallion pancakes were good but not really mind-blowing to me. All in all, I would definitely recommend this place. My top two recommended dishes are the youpo noodle and beef (or lamb) with cumin.

This place is a small, hole-in-the-wall I wanted to try because I love hand-pulled noodles. Once as walked in, we were seated and given menus. The cleanliness of the menus bothered me... there was dried sauce/food on the menus. We ordered the scallop pancakes, chicken fried rice(forgot to take pictures!), the spicy hot oil-seared noodles (N8). Overall, the food was very bland and everything was a bit oily. :( Unfortunately, the inside of the restaurant wasn't very clean either with some of the tables not wiped down. Doubt we'll come back unless they make some changes.

The ambiance was quiet and relaxed - a little different from the chaos that ensues from typical Chinese restaurants. Maybe a little too quiet - I lowkey felt like that made my chewing sound loud LOL. A little music never hurt anyone! The place is clean and you're free to help yourself to water and hot green tea throughout your dining experience. I ordered two dishes - the youpo noodles and beef with cumin. Those seemed to be popular recommendations from other Yelpers. The waitress brought them out promptly and the first thing I noticed was that they were extremely aromatic! Maybe it was because I was starving (they say hunger is the best spice) but I inhaled them. However, as I continued I realized that they were both actually extremely salty. So much so that I poured a little bit of tea into my noodles. So -1 star for that. Besides that, they were good! Would definitely like to try other dishes in the future.

One of my favorite places to eat in Buffalo!! I always get the cumin lamb or beef, youpo noodles. I've had the fried dumplings, a pork burger, and mixed vegetables. I highly recommend the cumin lamb or beef, youpo noodles, or fried dumplings if it is your first time at this restaurant. I've been here 3-4 times now and every time, my stomach is very happy. The restaurant itself is small, hidden, and not well insolated, but honestly, I don't really care unless the service is good and the food is outstanding. The cashier is also a server, so she takes your order, brings you your order, and cashes you out. So they do have hot tea and water that is self serve. I live about 30 minutes away so this place is a huge treat when I'm in the area. I will definitely try more dishes when I can. I would recommend getting 2-3 dishes if you have a party of 2 people. There's plenty of food for a great value! Expect a $30-40 meal for two if you get shared dishes! Love this place!

I have been very excited about this place as this is the namesake of Xian Famous Foods in NYC (not the same chain). Xi An gourmet is supposed to be a take on Chinese street food (e.g. the Chinese burger). Unfortunately, this place falls short in flavor compared to many similar places around town. Here are some pros and cons: Pros: + great variety of vegetarian dishes + fast service + clean and new space + private parking lot Cons: - lacks the flavor punch - the burger was positive tasteless. Just had a slab of meat and a toasted rice bun. No condiments. - only offers water and soda - some foods were under seasoned

I arrived with my son for dinner on a Tuesday night and was able to use a kiosk right away. The system was user-friendly but there wasn't an option to add extra bacon (for the extra bacon orderers out there). We grabbed a number to dine in and found our table. The dining room was clean, and all but one table was bussed, which is not bad by any restaurant's standards. Our food was brought to our table in probably 7 minutes. I ordered the double bacon cheeseburger with crispy onions and my son got the chicken sandwich with the herb mayo. For sides, we got the spicy fries and onion rings. I grabbed some napkins from the plentiful (and full) dispensers located near the shelves by the front counter. Wow. These were the best meals we'd each had in some time. My son said it was literally the best chicken sandwich he's ever eaten, enough to want to be the one to write the review in the feedback survey sent to me via text. A teenage boy wanting to write a food review should tell you something. And just look at my burger. Looking like the star it was. Basking in the sunlight during golden hour. Made perfectly and was as good as it looked, if not, better. It was juicy, and cooked perfectly. The little sleeve that my burger came in was not my favorite. It served its purpose but I may have preferred it being lightly wrapped in one of those foil lined papers. The sides were perfect as well. Crispy, fresh onion rings, that were nice thick slices of onion. The spicy fries were nice and crispy too, and weren't your standard cajun. The shakes for dessert were delicious and tasted like real ice cream. I can't speak highly enough about the service on our visit. The young lady, unprompted, refilled our drinks at least 2 or 3 times during our meal and even offered to refill our drinks before we left. We ordered our shakes to go, after our meal and she continued being attentive! When she saw we had another table number, she checked in on us and asked what we ordered so we weren't waiting too long. My only contention is the price. It is more expensive than fast food by a bit. However, in my opinion, Shake Shack shouldn't be judged alongside McDonald's but more Five Guys in the middle ground between fast food and casual sit-down. But that being said, based on this experience, Shake Shack beats any other burger chain, by a long shot.

They even give out promotions, I got a free fry for spending 15.00 via the kiosk, which was easy to do as there burgers average about that price. Three burgers (doubles) with the free fry was 40.00 bucks. The smash burgers are very good, cooked perfect with great seasoning. The bun to burger ratio is off, the burgers are way bigger than the buns! I did get a bunless burger. The service was great the ladies behind the counter were working there butts off with a smile. The fires were delicious, crispy and seaosned, I love a good crinkle fry!!

The second you walk in, you immediately smell the real hardwood lump charcoal they've been grilling over since they first started in the late 1920s, and you can actually watch them cook your food to order (which I love). The place oozes a casual backyard BBQ energy, and it feels like an old school Buffalo institution that might no longer be in its heyday, but it clearly still has a hardcore group of local fans. It was confusing as first time diners to figure out how it all works. First, you go in and place your order with the person behind the grill. The nice lady immediately started grilling our meats. Next comes the toppings that can be customized, and then any additional side orders. You pay, get your food, and seat yourself. The dining room is clean but delightfully frozen in time, looking very late-'70s retro in a way that feels exactly right. The seating is old, dingy, and uncomfortable, so this isn't a restaurant where you'd want to sit and linger. Food-wise, this is definitely a spot for beef and sausage lovers. If you're not into that, fair warning: my grilled chicken was pretty mediocre and mostly just tasted like charcoal (which some people might love, but it wasn't doing much for me). The flavor was exactly like what I'd eat when my Uncle would break out the charcoal grill in the backyard during my childhood. The smell and taste brought back pleasant memories, but I guess I'm so used to gas grills or wood grills now that charcoal seems so dated. Meanwhile, my husband's sausage on a bun absolutely stole the show. His was loaded with grilled onions, juicy, smoky, and genuinely drool-worthy. I was a little jealous just looking at it. If you eat sausages, I would recommend ordering that here. There's not a lot for non-red meat eaters, and certainly this isn't the place for vegetarians! Despite my disappointing chicken breast, there were plenty of wins. The buns were especially soft and delicious, and I loved the fresh leaf lettuce and tomato on my sandwich. The produce tasted fresh and bright and wasn't wilted at all, which genuinely surprised me. We split the half-and-half side (which was half fries and half onion rings). The fries were nothing noteworthy, but the onion rings were the real star. Get those crispy, flavorful rings and thank me later! Also, shoutout to the two free pickles on the side, which is a small touch that equalled big happiness. There's also a self-serve soda fountain with free refills of Pepsi products! I'm glad I spotted Ted's and decided to stop in. I couldn't resist the old school exterior, and I can see why this continues to stay in business (despite it not being crowded at all the night we dined there). It might not be the best pick if you're avoiding beef or sausage, but it's still a fun, very Buffalo place to try. Between the smoky grill, the retro atmosphere, and those killer onion rings, it feels like a local rite of passage. I'm glad we did it.

Unfortunately, something has changed over the past two years, and this location has noticeably declined. The service is now slow and inattentive. Employees tend to ignore customers waiting in line, moving without any sense of urgency and appearing unsure of their responsibilities. On my most recent visit, I brought a friend who had never been to Blaze. We arrived shortly after opening to find only two customers ahead of us. Despite the light traffic, employees walked around flattening dough and looking lost, with no one stepping up to take orders. After several minutes, a young woman finally approached and got us started. They completed the orders for the two customers ahead of us, then shifted to what appeared to be online orders, leaving us waiting again. When they eventually got to us, one employee worked carefully and methodically -- the pizzas were well-made -- but the pace was very slow. I then stood at the register for several more minutes before anyone came to take payment. Throughout the entire visit, the overall impression was that in-person customers are simply not a priority. The pizza itself was delicious, though our two orders came out separately despite being made back-to-back. The dining area also needs attention. There is debris collected in the corners and food crumbs left on the chairs. I did notice they finally fixed the giant tear in one of the booth cushions. That was an improvement over my last visit. Blaze makes a great product, but the experience at this location needs significant improvement. I am sad to say this will likely be my last visit.
