How Comcast lost a valued customer I have worked with companies across the globe on this very issue for more than 30 years. Here's an example scenario when relevance and context were missing from my experience with Comcast. My service keeps getting interrupted, Cable TV, Phone & internet. I have called to complain - repeatedly. Too Many times! I started researching other providers competitive plans. More Service issues continue, the same false promises. My calls to customer service never have record of my past service issues or complaints. That lack of understanding compounds my problem. A scripted marketing offer on an unrelated topic doesn't help solve my issues. They offer a Free Samsung Mobile phone for being a valued customer. I switched away from Comcast today. Nine years later. How Comcast could have retained me as a customer Let's summarize my Comcast scenario to put this in today's context, driven by facts. My Services keep experiencing problems. I called to complain. That first moment of truth is vital. More than 80%of customers who switched to another provider say they would have stayed if their issue had been resolved during this first contact. After apologizing and getting facts (about the issue and my info), a resolution should be offered, and the issue noted. Common business sense to retain a valued customer. (9 Year Comcast customer) I look at competitors. In the old scenario, I may have started researching competitors. If the issue was resolved at first contact, it would have prevented my search for a new provider. But a competitive threat is a constant, so I can be noted as high-value and a retention risk. Another service-related issue. Regardless of the quality of service, my issues didn't have easy answers. I call customer service. In this case, the Comcast service rep is armed with a complete case of my past issues and conversations. With this information, the Comcast service representative can anticipate both the issue and My frustration. The service issues were pinpointed to my home, so a tech could be offered to check all my wires, Inside & Out along with a discount to keep me from leaving. The customer (Me) stays with Comcast. Even with the service issues and frustration, Comcast went out of its way to understand and make things right. A customer who could have been a justified critic may become an advocate. Churn rates are lowered, and Comcast saves the substantial cost of replacing the customer by acquiring a new one. read more

No one cares- asked to speak with a manager but was told had to wait and speak with a rep first before he would even talk to me. Totally poor management. So service is amazing when we have it. It kept coming and going then for 3-4 days at a time they would tell me that it was an outage in the area a couple times a month. I work from w home...Thank goodness I have a hotspot because it originally was costing me hundreds of dollars a day with these outages even after getting a new modem and new main line. They said that I would just need to cancel my current service with xfinity and pick up a new box for xfinity Now at the store. Sounds easy in theory. After navigating a parking lot completely under construction, the girl at the register tells me that they can't switch me to Now. This place does not want you to save money. Currently searching for another provider that stays true to their word, does not send mixed messages, and falsely advertises. If I could give Xfinity zero stars I would. They have been the most awful company to work with. We have called them several times to send out a technician to take the wires out because we canceled. They have not come or called us and we have a home renovation where we have to get it moved ASAP. My wife spent an hour and a half on the phone with them and they just continue to transfer over and over again to people who don't have a clue what's going on or shouldn't be qualified to even work on the phones. Came back, ran a new line and now internet drops every 5 minutes during peak of afternoon. Replaced two amplifiers, a power supply, new Xfinity modem and still having issue and it is getting worse and worse. They escalate and I still can't get a truck out here to fix what they screwed up. I keep telling them that I had NO problem before that truck was out here - suspecting a filter on the line. Comcast charges me every month for 1000 Mbps of internet service but routinely throttles my internet where I am only receiving 36Mbps, 3% of service paid for. If I only paid 3% of the bill they would cancel my service. Yet they seem to be ok chargiong me 100% but only providing 3% . And when I call they deny throttling my service however with a day or so I am back to high speed internet with nothing changing on my end. Unfortunately they are the ISP in my area. read more

03/21/22 Jhiovanny fixed everything! He is, without a doubt, the best Tech that ever came out from Xfinity, to complete service. He found the privacy settings were blocking the IP. He replaced the #7 modem and adjusted the settings. He is a very nice guy and very courteous. He is a credit to Xfinity and is studying to get better in the IT field. You better lock him up for a great position with your firm. He loves working with Xfinity and he is very amiable and has a great career in front of him. Just lost another channel (that I'm still paying for), but was informed that the new channel would be somewhere else, in a package that's $17.95, so, lucky me, I can pay more for what I used to ALREADY get included...which I just refuse to do. Generally the telephone customer service I've encountered with Comcast has been less than stellar. It could be that most of the time I call, I reach someone who seems to understand limited English. On 9/2/21 I went into this Comcast location regarding adding internet to my existing cable account. The person was very helpful, polite and even talked me into adding my home phone for an additional $10.00 a month. My complete package - existing cable service, internet and home phone was supposed to be $148.40 per month on a 2 year contract. I specifically asked if that was what my cost per month would be for 2 years and he said YES. So imagine my surprise 3 months into the contract my monthly bill increased to $154.81. I called and spoke with a representative on 1/3/22 and never got a clear answer for the increase, she did agree that I signed a 2 year contract for the amount of $148.40 per month. I went into this Comcast store on 1/4/22 and was astounded by the salesperson, Jerry, who spoke with me. He NEVER looked at my account or asked my name. When I told him why I was there he said that Comcast can raise their taxes and fees when they want to. I explained that I had signed a contract and he blew me off. I told him I was going to put in a complaint with the BBB and he said "go ahead they can't do anything" I told him I would share what he said and his response was "I don't care". What good is a 2 year contract for the consumer? I feel like I was lied to and deceived. I filed a complaint with the BBB today. Update 1/20/21: As a result of me contacting the BBB: Good Day Thank you for providing the information below. Due to our increased cost of providing services, some rate did go up effective January 1, 2022. Additional equipment, taxes and fees may change while in a term agreement for a service package. A notice was included with the monthly billing statement that was generated on November 22, 2021. The TV box went from $7.50 to $8.50, broadcast tv fee went from $17.75 to $18.40 and regional sports fee went from $10.25 to $14.35. We do value the business and feedback. I have applied a $300 courtesy credit to the account as you have been an outstanding customer. It will appear on the billing statement that will be generated on January 22, 2022. Sincerely, Nick G. Best experience ever considering visiting what most would call purgatory. When we first walked in, we quickly saw how busy the small store was. Each of the five customer service desks were full, assisting customers and people were also sitting down waiting to be called. My husband and I got in line and waited to be checked in. When we made it to the front, we were greeted by a friendly customer service person who was ready to check us in using a tablet. He asked why were were visiting today and we explained that we just needed a new remote. To our surprise, he pulled out a box of remotes from behind the counter and exchanged our old one for a new one right on the spot! He thanked us for being customers and we were then on our way to finish off the day. We were very pleased that we did not have to wait very long and that service was so friendly. read more

We are paying for a service as well as rental equipment , and have to endure the worst in service when their equipment fails prematurely. Four employees on staff and ten clients waiting. They take the bad equipment at the door and then make you wait for your number. So every Tom Dick and Harry that hasn't paid their bill or arguing about charges gets to waste the time of those that pay cables ridiculous charges and surcharges and extraneous equipment charges. Perhaps a couple dedicated billing specialist ?? Why not a dedicated associate that simply exchanges equipment quickly, like the same one that took it in ?? It's literally a swap ! We were having a problem with our Internet router. Turns out it was an old model that is no longer in use with Comcast. Boxed it up and went over to Comcast with it. I arrived 30 minutes before they opened. As I was standing out front, they opened early, greeted me, and took care of my problem. The young man I dealt with was Lawrence. In and out in 10 minutes. Beautiful store and nice people. Update ... We switched our service to X1. I'd be lying if I said it was hassle free. We have one DVR, and three set top boxes. I had everything up and running on three but couldn't get the fourth to work correctly; no signal. Over a couple of days, and hours on the phone to the Philippines, St. Louis, and I think it was Texas, no luck. Set up a service call to my house , for this morning between 8 and 9 am. Their tech Brandon Harrison arrives at 8:05, and within 1 hour had us up and running. Comcast should be proud to have a young man like this working for them. Because of a reviewer's advice I made an online appointment. When I checked in I told the staff person that I had an appointment. Just a few minutes after that time my name was called! There were many walk-ins who had arrived before me who were still waiting when I left :( Staff were cordial and professional but the atmosphere is soured by the folks waiting long periods for service.
