I can't say enough good things about the people and service at Alarm Grid. Upon deciding we wanted to outfit our home with an alarm, I started making phone calls (starting with the "major" companies) and soon found that they seemed more interested in making a buck than truly answering my questions and concerns. I'm the type of person who likes to know exactly what I'm buying and like to do research comparing all my options. After being disenchanted with a few of the larger companies, I started to do research on a self-install. Almost all of my google searches brought me to an article on Alarm Grid's website or a video on their YouTube channel. These articles helped me immensely in deciding the equipment I would need and the videos gave me a sense of comfort that I could install the system myself. After my research was done, I decided to give Alarm Grid a call to make sure I was going in the right direction. I spoke with Sterling and Frank numerous times and never once did they rush me off the phone or pressure me to buy the hardware or service from them. It seemed like they were truly interested in helping me get my questions answered. From there I decided to buy most of my equipment from them as the prices were competitve. I also ended up getting my monthly monitoring through them as they do not require a contract (the only place I found that doens't have a contract) and I felt confident that if anything went wrong, they would be able to provide the support to help me fix any issues I encountered. After odering the hardware, I started the install. I purchased the Honeywell Lynx 5100 and a few wireless sensors to go along with them and the install was super easy. I had existing wired sensors in my home already and purchased a wired to wireless conversion module so I would still be able to use a portion of my existing system (and save $ on having to buy new door/window sensors). I got stuck a few times on the install and every single time I called, either Sterling or Frank were able to perfectly troubleshoot the issue. I've now had monitoring for a few months and have had zero issues. Total Connect is an awesome service, I can basically manage my alarm over the internet, get alerts to my phone and email whenever there's been a breach, and can arm and disarm my system from my phone. It's super convenient and very well priced in my opinion. I don't normally take the time to write reviews of any company. But in this case, I felt that I received such exceptional service and that Alarm Grid truly stands out from it's competitors. I did a ton of research, talked to a ton of different companies, which led to a ton of frustration. It wasn't until I found Alarm Grid that the pieces came together. Hi, I don't normally leave a review on websites like yelp, but when I asked a tech support agent who I should let know about the great experience he had provided, rather than suggest his supervisor or the CEO of the company, he suggested I just leave it here on yelp. I think that about says it all, when an employee guides you to an outside agency rather than provide his boss' contact information when asked where to leave a positive comment you know you've left the ordinary for the surreal. Anyway, here goes: I have been with Alarm Grid for over 3 years now. I had installed a Honeywell system myself in a rental property where I store valuable personal items that I need to have protected. The installation was easy, and I wanted to be able to monitor the system through my own phone, my local manager's phone and a neighbor's phone, which Alarm Grid allowed me to do. However, much more than just providing the framework for monitoring the security system in my house, Alarm Grid provides a invaluable service through there technical support. They provide guidance on not only the software that we use to monitor our home, but also, the hardware that they did not provide. This technical support has been a god send when I have run out of ideas on how to solve technical issues on setting up the system the way I wanted it to work. Today was a perfect example. I had been having problems recognizing the alert from my security system as it made the same alert that my messages made when they came in. You can imagine that not being able to differentiate someone breaking into your house from someone texting to set up lunch is a major problem. I had tried to solve the issue myself, but between the Apple IOS settings options and the software settings it was above my knowledge level. I called Alarm Grid's 800 Support number and got Frank as my technician (Frank, here's the recommendation I promised I'd give at the end of the call). Frank spent the next hour helping me solve not only the notification problem I was having, but answering a couple of other questions I'd had on the system. He was amazingly knowledgeable, not only on the Total Connect software Alarm Grid uses to monitor your home, but also a wiz with the Apple IOS that the software runs on in my iPhone (I feel confident he would have been just as at home with Windows, a Mac, or Android which the software can also be run on). If you're looking for a company to use to monitor your security system, consider Alarm Grid. My experience has been that they offer competitive pricing, a superior product and exceptional technical support. What's not to like? read more

I was looking for a state of art the alarm system to replace my 25 year old solid as a rock (but old technology) system. Looked at every review and pricing on every alarm system on the internet I finally found AlarmGrid. Look no further because between AlarmGrid client support and Honeywell technology you got the best of the best. Their Lyric panel/whole house control system is amazing. After watching their many how to install and configure videos (nice job Sterling) I realized we don't need the smoke and mirrors of the big company's install fee and contracts. We just need access to the latest technology and great customer support for a great self-install system. (Dylan, Jorge, Sterling are the best) AlarmGrid provides all that and much more. If you want you a professionally monitored 24/7 system for police, fire, home intrusion and medical dispatch this system this is it. You are provided with multiple choices of easy to install cellular cards for your favorite provider, Internet or both. You can also choose self- monitored if you just want to receive alerts immediately on your cell phone no problem. Since I had 8 hard wired circuits previously installed on my old panel I utilized their optional panel that allows you to connect the old circuits to it and they wirelessly communicate to the new Lyric system. No expense of replacing them. That was like 5 door/window contacts, 3 passive infrared that I got to re-use which was great and they work perfectly. I added a few new circuits that I could not add with my old panel. For that I used their full duplex encrypted door and windows sensors that are easy to self-install. So now I have my whole house protected. I can monitor, disarm/arm the system with the panel, voice control, my cell or key fobs. If you wish you can open doors, monitor cameras, adjust thermostats, check your garage doors the list goes on and on. It even takes a picture of who arms/disarms the system and does a slide show of your favorite pics on the panel with your local weather forecast. When any zone is opened the panel plays a specific melody you chose and also says "front door" "Basement Slider" etc. Way too cool. This is not just an alarm panel this is an amazing whole house control system. read more

Prior to signing up with AlarmGrid, I was using a hardwired alarm system that was very out-of-date. I wanted to use the existing wiring infrastructure, but wanted to replace the brains with something more modern and powerful, that can be interacted with a smartphone. I was also looking to add other features such as cellular backup and expandability for home automation and wireless expansion zones. Although I'm a do-it-yourselfer, I wouldn't call myself a hardcore one, so I had some doubts about my abilities at first as I've never installed a "professional-grade" alarm system before. When I began looking up do-it-yourself options, I began by watching YouTube videos and came across Sterling's "very detailed" videos. At first, I only thought professionals can buy these type of systems from the manufacturer. However, with some more research, I later found that Sterling worked for AlarmGrid, who sells all the parts needed and offers the monitoring services as well. When I found their web site and called their number to ask for more information, I was very happy to be speaking with Sterling--the guy in the videos himself. He was extremely helpful. Although there were a lot of similar hardware accessories to accompany the Honeywell 21IP, Sterling knew exactly which accessories were needed, and which weren't. One thing that impressed me, is that he made suggestions on how to save on the purchases instead of pushing to buy several items I didn't need. This convinced me right away that I was working with the right person. Once the parts arrived, I found that Sterling's videos hit everything on the nail. His videos alone answered many of the questions I had. For everything else, we spoke by phone and by email (and he was quick to respond when I chose to email). Not only did I find the experience of working with AlarmGrid to be very positive, what really impressed me was Sterling's willingness to go out of his way to find the answers to the "non-conventional setup" questions I had. In trying to identify a new company where I can transfer my current Honeywell 20P system, I looked all across the Internet and contacted many of the big names out there. When I came across Alarm Grid, I was provided a different experience. In today's market it is all about the customer experience and providing the information, products and support needed to gain business. I was wowed from the initial contact to the transfer of my monitoring. Criticom is the station they use which provides 3 redundant monitoring centers. I am a very analytical guy and want to ensure I'm not settling for something I'm not confident in. Sterling was able to provide a level and support and knowledge that gave me a comfort to move forward with transferring my system to them. There were no smooth talking sales, or sugar coating what the business model is and this provided a comfort level not obtained by the others. I am confident that Alarm Grid is going about it the right way with the content of their website and support they have provided me. They are willing to go above and beyond to support me and making some modifications to my system. I look to be adding additional items to my system down the road and they were quick to provide a couple of solutions for me to choose from as well as the pros and cons for each. I wish them the best of luck as I believe in what they are doing and differentiating themselves from the competition. However, once the company grows the success will be dependent on the continued support provided at the start. I have been very happy with the change and am also saving some money compared to that of my local company. I've been with AlarmGrid since April of 2013, almost 9 years. I wanted to install my own alarm system and their website AlarmGrid.com is the "Wikipedia" of DIY home alarm information and the "Amazon" of professional products often only sold to professionals. You don't need to be a professional to install your own alarm system, not with the help of AlarmGrid. Since I bought all my initial equipment from them I thought I'd give their monitoring service a try, also absolutely top notch. After nearly 9 years of service I can't think of a single criticism, they're A+ across the board. From their geographically redundant and professional monitoring, their genius technical advisors that will expertly troubleshoot any issue you may be having while installing initial hardware or when you expand your alarm system over the years. They've coached me through initial installation from a simple 6 zone system to a 45 zone system since I began my DIY alarm project and I've learned so much thanks to their team and web resources. It's excellent to gain the knowledge to do DIY alarm system work, not having to rely on overpriced service visits and being able to tweak things the way you want. A+ service from start to finish, I literally could not recommend AlarmGrid more. Long review, I know, I just have a lot of great things to say for this company. I wanted to upgrade my existing alarm panel (Vista-20SE) to take advantage of Total Connect 2.0. I browsed several sites when I came across Alarmgrid. While browsing the site,late at night, Joshua popped up on chat. We discussed what I wanted to accomplish and he made some recommendations and described their monitoring options. He even offered to get a hold of his Technical support to verify if a couple of the items I wanted could work together. The next morning I decided to follow up with Sterling in their technical support, Sterling was already aware of my concerns and answered my questions. I found a couple of items I had ordered from ANOTHER vendor would not work together, I was able to cancel the order saving some money. Sterling helped me with my installation and programing before I signed up for their monitoring service. When I decided to sign up for Total Connect 2, Sterling walked me through the process. In addition to answering my questions directly, he was also able to connect me to many helpful youtubes and writeups. The amazing part was he helped me even though I didn't buy my system through him, sorry Sterling. I totally would have went through Alarm Grid if I'd known about them beforehand. Anyway, I did end up going through alarm grid to set up my connection to the central station. Again, during this process Sterling helped me with some programming issues and saved me many hours of time and headache. In the end, I was only charged $15 for the first months worth of monitoring service - no charge for tech service and no activation fee. Sterling and the whole Alarm Grid team did an excellent job of helping me install and optimize my alarm system. I was using a different alarm company that wasn't getting the job done. When I spoke with Sterling and Alarm Grid, they helped me understand the different options I had. They were extremely helpful and knowledgable. Also, their response time was superb-- very prompt customer service. Since we have about 14 zones, it took most of the day to install the new system, and Sterling was helpful and patient during the installation process. I just signed up with Alarm Grid a few months ago. I have an existing hardwired alarm system in my home and needed to activate it. I liked the fact that AG offered month-to-month monitoring. I did not have to sign a long term contract. AG did a great job in offering different connection solutions systems...from wired, wireless, internet, and cellular. They are very knowledgeable and professional. Because I already had an existing alarm system in my home, I was looking for a DIY solution to get my system up and running. Buyer Beware, this company was a NIGHTMARE!!! I signed up for monitoring on 4/7/2013 with Alarm Grid and cancelled my plan shortly thereafter due to the lack of technical support. I have had many alarms and have had no one to reach during these events. The only persons I have talked to at this company is a guy named Sterling, the president and some guy named Josh. I have left countless messages without being contacted back. I am very skeptical that this is a two person company and that no one else works there. I have requested a full refund for the months that I have paid for as this has been a miserable experience. I wish I could report them to the Better Business Bureau but they are not even a member. I'm a DIYer but never approach a project that's outside my comfort zone until I thoroughly research it, and Sterling's information gave me the impetus to finally make the move to an improved alarm system. I purchased a Honeywell Lyric security controller from Alarm Grid a year, or so, ago. They were very helpful in helping me understand my options. More importantly for a DIY-er, they helped me understand how to install it, both with online videos and by answering direct email questions. Since then I have interacted with them several times, mostly to set up my monitoring service and tweak it for things like vacations. They have been pleasant and responsive on every occasion. After finishing an expensive contract with a major international provider, I decided to configure my own alarm system and connect it to the internet. AlarmGrid helped me to setup my system. Now I have two Honeywell systems in two different locations with the AlarmGrid services. They may provide you all the hardware you require according to your specific needs. Alarm Grid's Tech Support Rep, Travis, was very patient and helpful throughout the process as I worked with him on my problem: the SIXMINICT lost power and I lost further control of it (accidentally "bricked" it) by deleting it from the system when it went into "trouble mode" instead of giving a low battery indication. Actually "Fred" also played a key role in recognizing what must have happened, and "Travis" worked with me over the long haul to get it all figured out and a new part shipped out to me.
