The bougainvillea plants were initially placed at the entrance right next to the opened window right where the cash register is located. We proceeded to gather other plants around the area, and left the plants in same spot, as where we found them. As we were coming back for them, , we saw a young man (which we later learned was apparently the owner) by the name of Robert Simmerly (unsure how to write his last name, a person gave us his name) moving the bougainvillea plants and placing them far away and placing them along the fence. My elderly father told him in Spanish that we were taking the plants. He saw him, looked away and ignored him and continued moving the plants. When I witnessed this, I became irate and told him we were taking the plants (in English) to please bring them back, as we were going to pay for them. He literally responded "no, you want them, come get them from here". I was baffled at his response. That young immature boy acted so arrogant and disrespectful towards my dad and my self. I was beyond myself, went up to him and literally told him how rude he was and that he hadn't been taught manners, especially how to deal with women and the elderly and that chivalry was definitely gone. I let him have it. He told my elderly mother I was crazy. He then turned around and told me I was sick in the head! The nerve! No business person, especially in El Paso has displayed this type of disrespectful behavior, lack of manners and lack of education that this boy from this immature and arrogant boy displayed. People, my best advice to you, if you are Hispanic, female, or elderly or simply want to shop here for someone, I would think twice. DO NOT waste your time. You would be supporting this type of horrible customer service. We were only going to spend $300 at this place, so, it was no loss. Instead, we drove to Lowe's. Don't waste your time, energy and money in this nursery. Many of the plants there, are either dying, or very dry, thus very cheap and inexpensive. Not worth it. Go to another local nursery and deal with actual professionals and not with an arrogant, little boy that thinks that just because he may /may not own the place, means he can treat hispanics, elderly and women in such a cowardly and arrogant manner. You've been warned. Support professionals or other local nurseries.

Since I have what I'd call a "black thumb," I figured I'd do best with plants suited to the El Paso environment. I love gardens, but not the work that comes with them, so I focused on plants that require no mulch or fertilizer, and minimal watering. So far, I've purchased sage, evergreen sumac, creosote, a desert willow tree, and various species of Hesperaloe--and I haven't killed anything yet! The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. At 70 years old, my digging days are behind me, so I always include planting with my orders. I'm not great at garden design, so I typically start with a rough idea of where I want the plants and ask for their advice. Their suggestions are always spot-on, and I follow them to create a yard that I'm genuinely happy with. "Focal point" wasn't something I used to think about, but now I have several beautiful focal points in my gardens. Lastly, I rescued a small dog who can jump 5 feet, so I needed to raise my 65-foot rock wall from 2 1/2 feet to 6 feet. High Desert Native Plants completed the work in just two days, and the wall looks fantastic. They did such a neat job that there was no cleanup needed on my neighbor's side! A note: The nursery is usually open by appointment, so it's best to call ahead. Their stock can vary, but they can source many different desert native plants from places like Arizona and New Mexico.
