I have had more then one unfriendly and unprofessional situation with the manager of this hardware…read more My family has shopped in this store for a very long time and spent a lot of money. I carry a shoulder bag which contains my check book, wallet, extremely expensive medication, and a $1400.00 phone, pad and things such as a note pad to execute rapid on site diagrams so I can reconfigure my projects when this small store doesn't have what I want. I carry this bag in every single store/bar/ business location. This bag is approximately 1/3 the size of a back pack. The manager yelled that back packs were not allowed. I informed him it was not a back pack, it was a mini shoulder bag and they were welcome to examine the contents before and after shopping. A woman went in with a bag 3 times the size of mine and mine was full. I was told I could not enter the store with this small Organizational tool. I told them I would not leave my bag at the their register because I needed it's contents to figure the right things and there cost. I was wearing shorts with no pockets. This bag has appropriately $5000 in content most times. This man bag is smaller than most woman's purses and has all the things I use to maintain my health, plan for projects and the items to engage in commerce. I told the Manager that his conduct was discriminatory and unprofessional and we would not shop their. My family spends thousands of dollars in that store every year. That is all done. I will not set foot in that store again until they learn customer service. I might add woman are allowed to carry bags resembling large shopping bags but men are denied bags 1/3 the size!

It's a very good sized hardware store for a small town, it has a very complete inventory. They've always had what I needed, and I find the clerks and staff very helpful.

On Friday, April 5, this year I bought a water heater from True Value; two of their employees came…read moreout after work to install it, for cash. The installation went fine; no problems then or now. The problem is removing the old heater. The employees left it outside by my back porch and said they would be out the next day, Saturday, by noon to take it away. Didn't happen. On Monday, April 29, I went to their store to ask what the problem was and when the old heater would be picked up. This touched off a comedy routine between two of their employees about who fixed problems and who was a problem. I wasn't laughing. After the comedy routine was done, I was promised that it would be picked up Friday for sure. That would have been May3. Didn't happen then, either. On June 10, I sent a snail mail letter to the store (their email wasn't working) explaining the situation and asking when the old water heater would be picked up. No response. As I write this, late July, the damned thing is still sitting right where their guys left it. This is not my idea of customer service. And I don't appreciate being the butt of somebody's jokes. I wonder if these guys realize that anything they sell can be found someplace else in town. And from now on, anything I might need will be bought someplace else.
