This studio is hands down the best place I've discovered since moving to Atlanta…read more As an adult, it's so hard (in any city... I've looked) to find classes that are curated for adults and not as just an add on to a kid's studio. I grew up taking dance classes but only got to a certain level... but enough to want to keep up with it and learning new choreography. That kind of class just isn't as available as you grow up. I don't need to perform anywhere, though I believe Dance 101 offers it, it's more about learning amazing choreo every week and getting both the physical and mental joy. Dance 101 does all of that. There's so SO many options of different dance styles, difficulty level, and instructors who all have their unique ways of teaching. And a huge schedule every day (except Friday). Amazing place, amazing classes, and now that I've moved away... I can't find another place like it. Shout out to contemporary hip hip on Monday nights with Mo! My favorite time of week every week and made me actually look forward to the work week :)

After searching high…read moreand low for a place that caters to adults, I found Dance 101 and immediately bought a package of classes. Whether you're looking to brush up on your rusty ballet basics or pick up some high-energy hip hop steps, you'll feel welcome and have a great time. The teachers are great at providing choreography that can be adapted to any skill/fitness level, and their love for dance is positively contagious! The studios are also very lovely and clean, with good acoustics and beautiful natural light.

Some people are good at dancing, others (like my hubby) are not. Luckily, there's a place where…read moreboth types can have fun... Enter Dancefx. I'm not going to lie, I was pretty intimidated myself when we attended a Yelp Elite event at this place and our instructor, Emi, told us we would be learning how to do the merengue(I thought that was pie?). Ok, moving on... Emi was super friendly and didn't make any of us feel like we were too stiff to be there (thank God, I saw bullets streaming down hubby's face when we pulled into the parking lot). The event we attended was called Elites Get Coupled, which was appropriate given that it was almost Valentine's Day. Though my guy was totally nervous about this, I'm so glad we went! Emi, along with Lorien, taught us some merengue moves, and it turns out almost anyone can learn to dance. We felt pretty good about our abilities by the end of the event! Lorien brought in her all-girl hip-hop group (I think they're part of the Pin-Up Troupe?), and they were SO COOL... and talented, obviously. I could have watched these ladies perform all day!! Though they may have had me feeling like my new merengue moves were a little lame, at least now I know I have something to work towards... right? One of the best parts about Dancefx is the fact that they're a non-profit and donate to all kinds of local charities that support causes like fighting AIDS, helping the homeless and people with disabilities, and so on. I think it'd be such a thoughtful date idea to bring someone here and learn a couples dance! You get to know each other in a different way and can judge once and for all who's got better moves (I think we all know who won that dance off...wink wink). Plus, giving back to the community is icing on the cak--lemon meringue pie.

Dancefx is a not-for-profit so they really rely on and commit to the community. Plus, they are SO AFFORDABLE! They've got a ton of classes and events coming up and they sell clothes there, as well so you can make your tutu and leotard dreams come true. If you've ever even thought about taking a dance lesson this is the place to go. All the instructors were amazing in showing us how to merengue! (Sp?) They teach all ages from 2.5 years and up, so there's no reason to be shy. They even have babysitting events so mom & dad can go out while the little ones get some energy out!

Kara Jacobson is a phenomenal instructor, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping each dancer grow. She creates such a welcoming and supportive environment, where I feel both safe and encouraged to push myself. Her focus on technique and alignment is just what I needed as someone starting later in life. Every class is challenging in the best way and leaves me feeling stronger, more graceful, and more confident. What I love most is how this space feels like a true community. The energy is positive, and the staff is friendly. Whether you're brand new to ballet or getting back into it, I can't recommend this studio enough. Coming here has been one of the best decisions I've made for my body and mind. I always leave feeling inspired!

I echo what the other reviewers with no dance experience have shared. If you have never danced…read morebefore this is NOT the place to learn. I called in advance and spoke to Sarah. I shared with her that I had no experience but was looking to learn in a fun environment. She recommended Mr.C's Beginners Ballet. I mentioned that I read the description and that the class was not a 101 class. She was friendly and encouraged me so I thought I would give it a shot. When I arrived I shared with the woman wearing glasses at the check in desk that this was my first time. She was short with me and I had to ask where to go until the class started. I came out before class started and mentioned it looked as though everyone had quite a bit of experience. The three women at the front including Sarah assured me that it would be uncomfortable but to give it a try. I even asked if Mr.C would yell and they all said no. I had and eerily similar experience to the other reviewers with no experience. I was berated throughout the entire class. Even while I cried Mr. C persisted on critiquing me. He moved my head and forced me to look at him. I also lost the will to continue when everyone had to dance across the room. As he was shouting that I had to do it I calmly said I had enough. I went to gather my thing and he thrust his hands at me and shouted, "NEVER COME BACK!" As I put my shoes on in the lobby not one of the three women said a word. I would not recommend TADA. My goal was to learn, not be humiliated. This is not ok for anyone. I have read the review responses on Mr.C's background and I don't think this serves as an excuse for rude and unprofessional behavior. Perhaps just be direct and let adult beginners know that this isn't the place to learn. What I did take away was a reminder that when you are an expert and someone is a novice to always be patient and encouraging. The world could use more patience and kindness.

However for the foreseeable future this is a healthy place for me to be. The teachers are really good. Its also nice to see people come out of their shells. I have never seen such a safe emotional environment. Its so pleasant that its humbling. When you see all the trophies on the shelves you see it did not come from cracking a whip, but from loving guidance and direction (which may include some whip cracking but they whip you gently so you welcome it). I have never seen so many healthy ppl in my life. The men and women at Dance 411 have redefined humanity for me. While there are different personalities there is a cohesion among the ppl running the place that is really noteworthy. I wanted to check them out before bringing my kid. Now my child has started and Im addicted to going. When I saw how much my social skills improved I wanted the same for my child. Ill go as long as she is happy going. And if she stops I may still go :) Its that pleasant. Oh and they are good! Ladies dont be afraid to let your sons or significant others come here. These ppl athletes the flow is not nightclub. Its a very healthy environment for men because since all the men view you as a potential partner they treat you like you might work together someday. I hve never been in an environment that nurtured my masculinity in a healthy way. And in our society its challenging to mingle with people closely. The environment provides a safe platform to learn about human behavior and in turn have more fun being a human. You will hear popular dance classics like ciara, Classical, Jazz, and the trappiest hiphop all in one place. I have learned to hear new types of music. My emotional IQ is skyrocketing which is helping me to advance at work. I feel like I listen to music in four dimensions now. Since I started I cant stop listening to music. Its kind of a problem. Like I need to do other things. But Everything feels new. Some music that sounded like noise to me sounds amazing because they are teaching me to listen. Good place. I am learning a lot. Including vulnerability. in writing this review :)

It's really easy to spot the location as you approach the shopping plaza from the south, and it took me less than 5 minutes to get here from I-285. The studio is nicely decorated, giving a comfy, welcoming feeling when you enter. This is in stark contrast to some studios I've gone to that are basic and drab. There is only space for one class at a time, but the floor is huge! I'm thinking there would be more than enough room for a class of 30 people. There are barres (the portable kind) for hosting ballet classes, and weights of all sizes for fitness classes. The floor is kind of slippery, so if you tend to dance barefoot a lot and have soft feet (like me - definitely slipped a couple times lol) I'd suggest to at least wear some jazz footies with a grip bottom. There is ample cubbie space to store your belongings during class. There's even a good amount of waiting room for parents if you're looking to hold a class for children. Also there is a dressing room in addition to one unisex bathroom. On my way out, I spoke to the owner who was extremely friendly and mentioned that the studio has several time slots open for rentals at the moment. Dance instructors - check this place out!

Overpriced for tumbling training…read more My biggest complaint is that if your child doesn't participate in recitals, parades etc, the coach will leave your child to self instructions. And the main reason we wont let our child participate in recitals / parades, etc., is bc she's not that GOOD! YET!!! But recitals n stuff is a scam to just get more money out of you! But the straw that broke the camel's back is coming right off Thanksgiving they shoved a pack of raffle tickets in my face neatly wrapped with my childs name on it - I asked what if we don't want to participate in that (SCAM) the unprofessional said you have to pay $50. You already know - DECLINE!!!! Next class the coach only let my child practice a few routines. Towards the end the coach left my child standing in line waiting for her turn. The ignored my baby! Finally, my child just left and got her STICKER and belongings and we left. After I witnessed that as I watched from outside through the glass window, I decided to finish the course and w/draw my child. There is no way I will allow them to bully my child ALL bc I declined to sell or pay them $50 for some RAFFLE TICKETS!!! So this Wednesday, they paid my child no attention ! My baby got little practice and was told the training was for kids in the parade (which the coach denied saying it when I confronted her about it). But this week not only did the coach limit my child practice she wudnt even let her get a STICKER - NOPE! THE COACH TOOK THE STICKERS AND STARTED TAPPING MY CHILD ON HER HEAD WITH THEM!!!!! So no I wudnt recommend!

We've had lessons with Oscar, Tristen, and Olga, and every single session has been an absolute joy. They are not only skilled instructors, but also patient, encouraging, and so much fun to work with.
