However for the foreseeable future this is a healthy place for me to be. The teachers are really good. Its also nice to see people come out of their shells. I have never seen such a safe emotional environment. Its so pleasant that its humbling. When you see all the trophies on the shelves you see it did not come from cracking a whip, but from loving guidance and direction (which may include some whip cracking but they whip you gently so you welcome it). I have never seen so many healthy ppl in my life. The men and women at Dance 411 have redefined humanity for me. While there are different personalities there is a cohesion among the ppl running the place that is really noteworthy. I wanted to check them out before bringing my kid. Now my child has started and Im addicted to going. When I saw how much my social skills improved I wanted the same for my child. Ill go as long as she is happy going. And if she stops I may still go :) Its that pleasant. Oh and they are good! Ladies dont be afraid to let your sons or significant others come here. These ppl athletes the flow is not nightclub. Its a very healthy environment for men because since all the men view you as a potential partner they treat you like you might work together someday. I hve never been in an environment that nurtured my masculinity in a healthy way. And in our society its challenging to mingle with people closely. The environment provides a safe platform to learn about human behavior and in turn have more fun being a human. You will hear popular dance classics like ciara, Classical, Jazz, and the trappiest hiphop all in one place. I have learned to hear new types of music. My emotional IQ is skyrocketing which is helping me to advance at work. I feel like I listen to music in four dimensions now. Since I started I cant stop listening to music. Its kind of a problem. Like I need to do other things. But Everything feels new. Some music that sounded like noise to me sounds amazing because they are teaching me to listen. Good place. I am learning a lot. Including vulnerability. in writing this review :)

I've made so many friends through the "flamenco family" that Malita has built up here at Calo Gitano. I was fortunate to join the Call Gitano gang on of these trips where we spent a week in Cadiz and another week in Sevilla flamenco'ing every day! Malita and the Calo Gitano brand she and her equally great flamenca sister, Cara, has built up is the ONLY place in Atlanta you should be at for anything flamenco related, be it lessons or one of their amazing shows! After not seeing the results I was used to seeing through barre from running, I decided to go back on the hunt for a new barre place. Let me go over some of my concerns before I started with Pure Barre. 1. It's expensive - Yes, it is way more expensive than other places. I am price conscious and it was daunting to think of how much I will be paying. I think that is what kept me away for a good long while from joining or checking this place out. Yes, it's expensive. Is it worth the money? Every single cent. I'm not normally the type to work out every day. I usually go every other day but with Pure Barre, I've been going every day. I feel like the instructors definitely pay attention to every single student and correct your poses to make sure you're working out (I can't even slack even if I wanted to). 2. Is this going to be a place I want to keep coming back to? - I worried about this because well if it's not a place I want to keep coming back to then I'm wasting money, right? The instructors and all the students here are fantastically friendly. It's been encouraging me to ramp up the number of times I work out in a week (almost every day now) and it's been great to be a part of the Pure Barre community. 3. Will I feel like I worked out sufficiently? - Yes. Yes, they will make sure you are doing your darned hardest when you're working out. They correct your posture and poses to make sure you're BURNING out those muscles. No classes are alike and even though I come every day, the classes have enough variance that it keeps it interesting. If you find yourself feeling like the classic isn't enough, try out Reform or Empower. They're both difficult in different ways (one is more focused on core and the other on cardio). I highly recommend Pure Barre to anyone looking for a studio class.

Since I was already in the area for a nail appointment, I decided to look up the closest studio nearby, and that happened to be the Memorial location. Naturally, my first question was, "What's the parking situation?" Let's be honest--parking in Atlanta can make or break the experience. Thankfully, this location checked that box with ease. The studio is located in the shopping center with Publix and AMC, and there's a free parking garage available. The studio itself is directly across from the garage entrance, so it's only about a two- to three-minute walk depending on where you park. You'll head into the building and take either the elevator or the stairs up to the studio. Overall, it was very easy to find and super convenient. I took a Vinyasa Yin class with Megan, and she was absolutely wonderful. From the moment I walked in, she greeted me with such warmth and genuine kindness. Before class even started, she took the time to ask how my day was, and I immediately felt welcomed. Those little interactions really do make a difference, especially when you're visiting a location for the first time. Her energy throughout the class was just as amazing. She created such a calming, positive environment while still keeping everyone engaged. I found myself thinking halfway through class that I'd absolutely make the drive back just to take another class with her. Although the Memorial location isn't the closest studio to me, I wouldn't hesitate to return if I'm in the area again. Between the convenient parking, welcoming atmosphere, and Megan's incredible instruction, this was a wonderful experience from start to finish.

In Atlanta parking can prove to be difficult or very costly garages, but this location is in the Madison Yards complex and offers ample parking. There's a free parking garage directly across from the entry right next to the AMC. And if you'd like afterwards its not too far of a walk from the beltline and some brunch options. In regards to the space itself, it is very clean and offers lots of natural sunlight. The studio is spacious enough but can get pretty packed during their busy times. If you are new to Highland yoga they do have great newcomer specials to give it a try. This studio is also on Classpass which also seems to be a great value if you're interested in trying different classes and locations.

Sky Barre - Up, up and away!

Sky Barre was on my bucket list forever and it was worth the wait! A private party costs $245,…read moreminimum of 7 to book. Drop-ins cost $35 per person for 50 minutes so arrive early. Park free in the small lot or the Publix parking deck across the street. Our instructor CoCo patiently waited for my crew, but the clock was running because of other bookings. The environment is cool and clean with cubbies for personal items/shoes. You enter the mat barefoot or in socks. The website mentions 30-minute-high intensity low impact cardio classes, indoor water rowers, aerial sling yoga to release tension etc. We had a P-Valley themed party, so I knew it was going down! We each picked a Sky Barre nickname and CoCo broke down the routine into steps. I haven't worked out in awhile and I have zero upper body strength, so I was nervous but willing to try. I couldn't do some of the moves but CoCo made modifications. It's not easy. Initially, it felt like the aerial silks were burning into my feet, butt and side. But it's more discomfort than pain and she said you get used to it. An hour wasn't enough time to learn the routine. But you are your own audience so it's more about feeling confident, getting out of your head and having fun! We had a glow party under blacklights, so highlighter colors really pop! The lights were dimmed, the track was played, and we killed our routine. Not! We did it 2x and I still forgot half the moves! The best part is how sexy you feel if you let yourself go. But when I played the video later it was more like the rhythmless nation! At the end we cheered each other on as we freestyle danced in a circle. Water was provided and we said our goodbyes. Sky Barre core + cardio = full body workout. I was sore for few days but it was worth it! Memberships start at $150 (1 hr a week, 12 drop-ins per month). There's a $99 3-week unlimited beginner class promo for newbies. If you can afford it and you're brave enough to try, drop in for a fun, creative workout. I recommend!

The Forum Athletic Club - Clear warning sign in the gym but staff doesn't care about health warnings

I plan on doing more of this in the future and what a great facility The Forum Athletic club was to start at. The gym's aesthetic fits the industrial theme in this area of Atlanta. It's super clean on the inside and small. Although it's small, it doesn't feel like it because it doesn't get crowded (at least the two times I went) and it still has everything you need to be successful in the gym. For example, squat racks, cardio machines, free weights, stretch area, cross fit style room, clean bathrooms, towels...I mean checks, after checks, after checks! I think I enjoyed this gym more than my home gym in Ft. Lauderdale but shhh don't tell anybody lol. The only con I would say is there isn't hand sanitizing wipes or machines. When I come back to the ATL I would def have to make it a priority to revisit.

Serious Safety & Liability Concerns - This Gym Puts Members at Risk…read more This gym is playing fast and loose with member safety, and it needs to be called out. The sauna has a clearly posted warning sign stating a maximum safe temperature of 185°F. Despite this, staff and management insist on running it at 200°F, knowingly exceeding their own posted safety limits. That alone is reckless and a massive liability issue. What made this worse: I entered the sauna first at a safe temperature. Another gym member then came in and turned the temperature up to 197°F, completely ignoring the warning sign. When I pointed out the posted safety limit, this individual became aggressive, threatened me, harassed me, and disturbed my peace while I was simply trying to protect my health. No member should feel unsafe--physically or verbally--while using a wellness facility. Management's response? Dismissive and unconcerned. Instead of addressing: * the unsafe temperature settings * the violation of posted safety guidelines * the harassment and threatening behavior by another member ...the manager failed to take the situation seriously at all. This gym is exposing itself to serious liability by: * Ignoring its own safety warnings * Allowing saunas to operate at dangerous temperatures * Failing to intervene when a member is threatened Saunas are supposed to support health--not endanger it. Until management starts prioritizing member safety, accountability, and basic respect, I strongly do not recommend this gym. Consider this a warning.
