Xcel cut my internet and phone lines and didn't even tell me I reported a downed power line in my yard to Xcel, and the next day they repaired it. In the process, they cut my internet and phone lines. They didn't tell me (the only way I knew is that I happened to see their truck drive away) and they didn't call me. They left the cut lines draped across my yard. They didn't contact anyone else to come fix it. I had to wade through 7 levels of phone menus to finally speak to someone, only to have them tell me it's my problem to deal with.

At this point, she became rude to me started yelling at me and said I was acting like a child and hung up.

I just moved to Pueblo West. This morning, there was a BHE crew drilling in an easement right next…read moreto my master bedroom window to set an ugly pole and a trash can transformer. The builder of the house next door wanted power as cheaply as possible. I asked the crew to hold off for a few minutes while I called BHE customer service. They stopped work and gave me a direct number to their supervisor. The plan originally was to get an estimate for running power underground, and ask the builder to split the cost with us, so we didn't have the eyesore or health hazards associated with the transformer. The builder refused to split the cost, but BHE halted work anyway. The supervisor called me about an hour later and said they'd decided to run the lines underground most of the way, eliminating the pole, wrote it up as a design change, and ate the cost. Didn't charge me a dime. I can't speak highly enough of the guys on the crew, the offsite supervisor, and BHE, as these men are representative of this company in the same way the negative reviews claim those men are. Thanks Black Hills In other news, we've had three blackouts in the last week. That's unacceptable. Right in the middle of washing clothes, washing dishes, making auto repairs, showering (tankless water heater), making dinner... get your act together on this. This is what you do. It's all you do. I appreciate the help with the power pole, but that doesn't make this somehow more bearable. Is this what happens when a company has zero competition and no chance for any?

I got a SEPARATE invoice from Home serve today for the first time. It was a bill for 3 separate services through Home Serve. i called Black Hills who explained that Home Serve is a separate company, but he could transfer me. He also gave me the number. When he tried the the transfer, I heard the number was no longer in service. The number worked, and I got a live agent, Monique, with no last name. My records show I cancelled in May 2024. Her records concurred, but that I changed my mind!!! NO. She was to cancel my account immediately and confirm via email. She was also to send the signed renewal she said she had as well as an updated copy for each year. I got nothing!! I called back and only get a recording asking me to rate the agent. These people sound like scam artists to me. I expect Black Hills to vet their subcontractors better than this. When I owned a business, I was responsible for my subcontractors. .

So Xcel, you are very good at responding to emergencies. The bad: We hired Xcel to do a recent air conditioning installation, and they subcontracted all the work to a company called Mac's Maintenance LLC. After a two-month-long process with them (which involved them screwing up royally on several occasions), they did not pass the city inspection. So, Xcel: your choice in contractors sucks. The good: Xcel lets me pay my bill online through my bank, and I get emails of amount due instead of paper bills (which tend to get lost in my house). That simplifies things a lot. The bad: But if I want to actually look at my bill to see the itemized charges, you make it difficult, Xcel. The Xcel website is terrible. It's a pain to use, nothing is where it should be, and it rarely has the information I want. I've tried looking up my bill and billing history several times there, and more often than not it says that there is no history available. It's an even split. Xcel, you could be better, but you could be a lot worse, too.

When they finished, instead of repairing the sidewalk, they simply tossed in some crumbly asphalt. I called several times to get someone to fix it properly, but they ignore me and never return calls. It's a little strange to leave a review for the only water utility available, but I had an…read moreexperience today that I think is worth sharing. I mistakenly believed I was enrolled in autopay when I wasn't. That's on me, and I take responsibility for missing the payments. What surprised me was the notification process. I received a single piece of mail indicating that my account was past due, but I didn't receive any email notifications or other alerts warning me that service interruption was imminent. Since I genuinely thought my payments were being handled automatically, I had no reason to suspect there was an issue. When I called to have my water restored, I suggested that Denver Water consider adding clearer alerts, such as email notifications or a more prominent warning on customer accounts. My intention was simply to provide feedback that might help prevent similar situations for others. Instead, I felt like the conversation quickly shifted to being reprimanded for the missed payments. To be clear, I understand that I was responsible for paying the bill. My concern is that the communication process could be improved. In a world where we're constantly warned about scams and fraudulent notices, a single piece of mail can be easy to overlook or question. Additional notifications would make it much more likely that customers are aware of an issue before their water service is shut off. I hope Denver Water considers strengthening its customer alert system. It would likely save both customers and customer service representatives a lot of frustration.

Came out the next day on Nov 7 and it was all fixed in about 6 hours- after having to get folks to move cars, tear up asphalt in two places, dig deeply, patch asphalt, etc. Lots of heavy equipment and many workers.
