If I had to describe this place in two words, it would be missed potential. The food here was honestly amazing, but unfortunately, the service didn't quite live up to the quality of the food. If Yelp allowed half stars, I would give this place a 3.5/5, and I'll explain why. Starting with the food, I honestly have no complaints. The fish was incredibly fresh, and you could tell they weren't cutting corners when it came to quality. Everything we ordered from the sushi bar tasted great, and the rolls were a good size with generous portions. The fried food was also amazing, perfectly crispy and cooked well without feeling overly greasy. The ramen was another solid choice, and overall, the food was easily the highlight of our visit. Whoever is running the kitchen and sushi bar definitely knows what they're doing. Unfortunately, the service was a completely different story. This was our first time visiting, and from the moment we walked in, the experience felt a little underwhelming. We weren't greeted with much enthusiasm, nobody seemed to have a smile on their face, and there wasn't much effort to make us feel welcomed. Since this was our first visit, we weren't familiar with how everything worked, and nobody took the time to explain the ordering process. One thing I found a little strange was how the food was brought to our table. Whenever our sushi orders arrived, nobody explained which fish was which. They would bring the plates over, stand there looking at us, and wait for us to figure out where to make room. No "excuse me," no asking us to move a plate, or even a simple explanation of what they were serving. It was almost like we were supposed to read their minds. Another thing was the water situation. Our glasses weren't refilled unless we asked, and even then, we had to ask multiple times. I understand restaurants get busy, and I don't expect someone to constantly check on our table, but I feel like refilling water is one of the simplest parts of good service. What disappointed me the most was the overall lack of friendliness. There wasn't much conversation, no checking in to see how our food was, and honestly, no real sense of hospitality throughout our meal. Of course, once it was time for the bill and tip, the interaction suddenly felt a little more attentive. I'm honestly one of the easiest people to please when it comes to restaurants. I don't expect anything fancy, and a simple smile, friendly greeting, and decent service go a long way with me. I've only ever given five-star reviews on Yelp, so writing something less than five stars is a little difficult for me, especially when the food was this good. Overall, I think this restaurant has a lot of potential. The quality of the fish, the sushi, the fried food, and the ramen were all excellent, and I would gladly come back for the food alone. I feel like with a little more attention to customer service and hospitality, this place would easily be a five star experience. I'm also interested in trying their Buena Park location to see how the two compare. Great food deserves great service, and unfortunately, this visit only delivered on one of those.
This place is the place to go for quick and friendly service. Food is delicious and fresh. Good for large group because the atmosphere is loud.
I've heard many good things about this place and I understand why! We were luckily enough to come on a day that wasn't too crowded and got seared immediately. The chairs imo, were too high for the table, I felt like I was hovering over the food, idk if that makes sense but something I noticed immediately after sitting. The menu system is a bit confusing. There's a paper menu and one you place online via QR code. For the paper menu, we were limited to 20 pieces of nigiri at a time. This wasn't a huge deal since it was only 2 of us, but I can see how that can become frustrating with larger groups especially since there's only 3 rounds, unless the limit increases with group size. The online ordering system only allowed you to order 2 appetizers at a time. I love me some baked mussels and unfortunately 1 order = 1 baked mussels which means we were only able to order 2 mussels at a time and then have to wait until our 5 minute wait period is over before placing another order. This is the first sushi restaurant that I been to that had this small of a limit... They also limited you on the carpaccio order but that was expected. Aside from the menu and ordering frustration, I think their food and service is great. Their fish tasted very high quality and the fish to rice ratio was spot on! They had many different options of nigiri to try, so we definitely got to try a little of everything. There was only 1 item we didn't like and our server was kind enough to remove it from our bill. Overall it was a good place for high quality sushi. I just wish I wasn't so limited when placing orders since it is ayce and they already emphasis the leftover charge.
Sushi sushi sushi. Loved everything about this place - the service, the food, and the ambiance. Fish is fresh and price is very reasonable. We went here right when they opened on a Sunday and didn't have to wait for a table. Plenty of parking and near so many good places to walk to after eating all that sushi.
came first thing when they opened on a Saturday, it def was already pretty busy and they seemed short staffed. During our meal there was someone who i assumed was newer to the restaurant and the person training or teaching them was really loud and kind of rude pointing and touching all the tables trying to teach the new person the layout. I understand training but I don't think it was a good idea to do it in front of full tables of guests. or maybe have a map of the tables near the kitchen for them to review but training very very loudly and disturbing others guests just did not sit well. Besides that the food was great as always. I wish they did offer a less rice option but the portion isn't as much as other places. It's a very very busy location so i would recommend getting there a decent amount of time earlier than you'd want to eat.
Service was good and quick ~ never had to wait long to place new ayce rounds, arrived around 3pm on a Saturday for a party of 4 and no wait. Interior is really clean and nice decor. We did the $42 ayce standard and it was very good. Probably my favorite ayce sushi places. They have a huge menu of nigiri, carpaccio, appetizers, ramen, rolls with a handful of rice less rolls (we liked the Sakura roll). Sushi quality was great! Some items are limited to 2 pc per person like the carpaccio and those were some of our favorites. Unagi (eel) is limited in sushi form but you can get unlimited eel hand rolls.
Good quality for a reasonable price. Personal favorites are the mackerel and squid. The service was good and quick. Their sides of ginger was great for a palette cleanser.
Still my fav all you can eat sushi spot. Lunch deal is such a great deal. If you like salmon. Don't sleep on this spot. I hate when all the fish taste the same. But here the salmon is always nice and buttery. Great texture Salmon bomb I get regular salmon and peppered that has a slight sear Udon soup is really good here. Get the Nagasaki spicy udon. Flavor is so good. Little char flavor that I love. This is a must get Fried tempura shrimp is done well Always good food. Always great service. Plenty of parking

X-Fish has been on my list for quite awhile and finally it got to try it. We did the lunch signature $41.99 pp My friends have been raving at how affordable and delish the fish here is esp the toro but I had one order of it and I did not want another order off the menu at all. Only good tasting item was the Alaskan roll. Calamari Karaage is also a good appetizer. Items we tried during our visit: *Baked Mussel - came out on the cold side. Baked mussels is usually warm. *Alaskan Roll *Orion Draft *Grilled Chicken Teriyaki (Half Size) tastes like they used old oil or it's been in the deep freezer for awhile. *Albacore Carpaccio (2 pcs) *Yellowtail Carpaccio (2 pcs) *Baked Scallop Roll *Rainbow Roll - 1 - tasted normal. Walking into the establishment to put my name down it had a fishy smell. But I tried my best to just keep a positive outlook since I've had friends who rave about the place. But after the meal, I felt like I should've listened to my gut when I smelled how fishy it smelled. Restroom needed attention! Female toliet has no toilet seats and just needed to be cleaned up. I personally would not recommend this spot nor would I come back. I just felt very disappointed and like I wasted my money since it was not the best tasting. Tips: *Credit card accepted *Indoor seating only *Serves alcohol *Free street/parking structure nearby *They have another location in Buena Park.
Sushi is delicious! Our favorite is smoked salmon, the giant scallops, yuzu yellowtail and Cajun tuna. We enjoyed everything but the tri peppered sushi, they were mildly flavored and underwhelming. The first two rounds of our order arrived quickly but the third time we had to get the servers attention to pick up the order sheet (I noticed another table had to do the same) staff passed by our table multiple times and didn't pick it up. This time the sushi took a long time to arrive, it pushed us to the 90 minute time limit. I appreciated one staff member coming by and giving grilled chicken skewer sample (very good!) The restaurant is round shaped and the acoustics inside is awful. It's very noisy and it's difficult to hear the staff. The chairs scrape on the floor. Also the table tops have water damage from the ice water glass condensations, coasters would help. The restrooms were ghetto. One of the women's sink was out of order, one of the stalls was out of toilet paper but the big roll was precariously hanging from the stall door hook and it fell and rolled on the floor. For the price I expected a better experience.
Tried this for dinner on a Thursday around 6 pm with a party of 2. We were seated right away, but heads up, they won't seat you until everyone in your party arrives. It's located in a big shopping center with Ralph's and Home Goods. I'd recommend parking in the open lots since it's much easier to find a spot than using the structure next to X-Fish. We went with the Omakase and spent about $60 each including tip. Food was good with a nice variety, including tonkotsu, sushi (of course), and a chicken BBQ skewer. The seafood quality was solid, although u had just gotten back from Japan, so it's hard not to compare. We wanted to try some of their wines, but they only sold it by the bottle, which was more than we wanted. Taking off 1 star because it was very loud inside. I think it's the way the space is built - everyone's voices seem to echo. Overall, good food and decent value, just not the best place if you're looking to have conversation over dinner.
It's almost $45 a person and it's supposedly renowned but call me picky it's just not worth the hype or cost. Wait times can be extensive due to the popularity. You're limited to 3 rounds (20 pieces each) of nigiri. You're also limited to 2 rolls and 2 appetizers or something absurd for the online menu and have to wait in between to order more. Quality of fish is ok compared to other places I've had, but for the cost it's nothing spectacular. Overall, it's better AYCE than other places I've been, but it's on the higher cost end for AYCE. The overall ambiance is nice and fancier. It's really clean inside and feels premium.

I gave this location a try bc I enjoyed the food at Buena Park, but after a fair comparison, I just think their customer service is just bad at both locations ... & to be honest, the food is actually really good, quality and value, & I'd REALLY like to keep coming back but only if the service here gets better. It's like they purposely don't want us to come back? Ive been to X-Fish at least 3+ times, & customer service is just poor... & based on other reviews, I'd think it's an actual problem that mgmt needs to fix. Nonetheless, the quality is pretty good an ayce sushi spot, and for a reasonable price. I would recommend sticking with the signature menu, $40, but def try their omakase set, $55, if it's your first time at X-fish just because! It comes with 9 different nigiri's of chef's choice (order only once) & a premium ayce bluefin tuna (hon maguro) that only this set has! They also offer a lunch menu for $28 from 11am-2pm but I haven't tried it The fish to rice ratio here is perfect! More fish, less rice is the way to go. So I usually load up on the regular & tri pepper salmon, yellowtail, and eel nigiris. I also recommend their spicy miso ramen, truffle salmon roll, Alaskan roll, spicy scallop hand roll, oishi and kiss me riceless rolls! Sometimes, they'll bring out some yakitori items like skewers to your table. You can also order these items through QR code, nigiris are on paper. Overall, X-Fish is great for ayce sushi if you're solely there to dine in & out. The restaurant is beautiful & has plenty of seating. Location is near plenty of stores, so it's great to walk around after a full meal. There's also plenty of free parking nearby. read more

I've been eyeing this place in recent months but each time I'm ready to go the line is out the door. This A.M. I contact my friend and suggested this place and agreed to meet at 10:45am to get in line. As I arrived there wasn't a line per se but at least four groups waiting around outside until the doors opened and we were seated right away. They have 3 levels to choose from and we got the middle Signature one for $39.99. Service was quick after placing our order. One of my new favorite AYCE sushi restaurants in OC :-) I've been to their Buena Park location but only had their a la carte menu. So I was super stoked to finally try their omakase! Everything we ordered: - Sake salmon - Hamachi yellowtail - Ebi shrimp - Katsuo x-fish salmon - Yuzu yellowtail - Hon maguro bluefin tuna - Sake no kunsei smoked salmon - Albacore carpaccio - Tuna carpaccio - Spicy salmon handroll - Salmon skin handroll - Chef's choice set of 9 (x 2) The fish to rice ratio was absolutely perfect; they didn't have too much rice so it wasn't immediately filling. I was surprised to see that I still had the appetite and stomach for rounds 2 and 3. It's so rare to see sushi places do this right. Their fish was fresh, tender, and so yummy. This place was super yummy. We were seated right away on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant has a bunch of tables that filled up fast. It was peaceful inside. It is all you can eat sushi that is good quality for 40 bucks and lots of options. My favorite was the yuzu yellowtail and the salmon and scallop. Hello, This was my first time at X-Fish and it was amazing! Came to enjoy all you can eat sushi and it did not disappoint. We opted for the Signature menu which is $39.99 per person and it was completely worth it. It's located in a spacious and nice plaza with PLENTY of parking. Both interior and exterior of the restaurant is simple, sleek and modern. I appreciate the no frills, classy, and warm ambiance inside. We were seated almost immediately and one of the best parts of dining here was how kind all the waiters were. They were attentive and catering. The sushi satisfied my cravings for sure. I enjoyed all the different options they had and also appreciated the udon/ramen selections as well. All of the fish was fresh and so beautifully presented as well. You MUST order the unassuming baked lobster rolls!!! We placed another order immediately once we tried it because of how delicious they were! Each piece was flavorful and melted in your mouth. Came in for dinner on a Friday night with a party of 4 around 5:45 PM and was pleasantly surprised to only wait about 5 minutes for a table--especially since there was a crowd forming shortly after. If you can, I'd recommend making a reservation, just to be safe. All the fish was fresh and served fairly quickly. The rice-to-fish ratio on the nigiri was spot on. We also ordered a few sides, and they came out hot and freshly made. Service was good overall, though we did have to ask a couple of times for water refills. Once again, Xfish has went beyond my expectations of high quality AYCE sushi and more! This is my favorite go to spot for amazing quality dishes and nigiri. The salmon nigiri is my favorite, followed by the toro nigiri. The ambience of the restaurant is amazing, with a very simple, traditional interior. You can come here with friends or for a date night! Long time watcher, first time visitor. Came in on a Sunday afternoon with my son, it was nice that he got a discount based on his height. He loves sushi but still doesn't eat much more than a roll or 2. The menu has amazing variety and options for the whole family. The yakitori being passed around was a wonderful surprise. after a couple of full rounds of nigiri and a couple of rolls I was done. Been wanting to try this place for a while as it's still somewhat new. I made reservations just in case it's busy, but it wasn't at all during a weekday lunch. Free easy parking in the structure in downtown Brea! We opted for omakase with the ayce , which includes the chefs choice, pass around menu (chicken skewers they pass around), and a QR code menu to scan for cooked food. You could order through your phone and it'll send to the kitchen. They passed around once for chicken, which was good and tender but don't count on them coming often. The chefs choice was 8 pieces of sushi that's not on the menu. Too bad the waiter didn't seem knowledgeable, and didn't explain what was given to us. Sushi was good, I loved how little rice they gave. Less carbs for us to fill up on! Carpaccio was great and flavorful, but the rolls were just OK. We didn't order much of the hot foods such as udon and izakayas. It wasn't busy, but they forgot some of our orders and somehow some orders on our phone or paper didn't go through. I learned not to overeat so I was satisfied without ordering more. Quality over quantity! Overall it's good, I would come again for ayce sushi! But I'll skip the omakase next time. read more

ayce signature was 42$ per person. good amount of people on a tuesday late afternoon. rice and fish ratio here is perfect. yuzu yellowtail, bay scallop and bluefin tuna were my favorite. i also liked the texture and flavor of their rice, i find it to be just right and not gummy. also the orders come out super fast after you punch it in, its literally within a couple minutes. the waiter also were attentive and one of them even offered yakitori on a plate for us to sample. the manager/boss was there and i saw him help bust tables and i found that to be really nice because i dont see this often, seems like they believe in teamwork. overall the food was fresh and service is awesome. read more

How long is the typical wait time at 7pm on Fridays with no reservation? I was only able to get a 10pm reservation
their reservation isn't accurate, you can put yourself online first, and then, on Saturday I had to wait for an hour, luckily the main street in Brea seems to be colorful and worthy taking a stroke down the Birch street
