Got kicked out for sleeping when I wasn't. Watered down my first 2 drinks and I saw the bartender do it. Next 2 drinks were fine. Doorman was a jerk. Go here if you like being ripped off. read more

If I could give a zero star I would. My friends and I came by during PRIDE 2023 on 6/25/23 at 12:31pm and had a very unfortunate experience. As we were walking in the lady at the front that was taking payments to get into the club used a very disrespectful and demeaning tone. As we walked up we simply asked, "how much is it for cover" before we even finished our question she interrupted and loudly said " ITS $25 IF YOUR BROKE GET OUT". The moment this happened we immediately left as it was extremely disrespectful. This same lady continued to speak to multiple others like this. Although my fiance and I had decided to leave the facility our friend had gotten in prior to us. Once she was in and PAID THE $25 cover fee to get into the club they AGAIN CHARGED HER ANOTHER $25 with no explanation just said that she needed to pay that to continue to get in even though she already paid the cover at the front AND RECIEVED A STAMP as proof of that purchase. Very disrespectful and shady business. PRIDE is about being respectful, loving, kindness, equality and acceptance and to go into a bar and be treated like that blew my socks off 10/10 DO NOT RECOOMEND read more

I've been meaning to get to this review for good reason.... A couple months back I vacationed in Colorado and an impromptu night out lead me to X Bar in downtown Denver. I was drawn to the lively crowd partying it up on the outdoor deck so I went inside for a closer look. It was shock and awe!!..... (I realized I was in a gay bar!) I immediately went for a drink where I was greeted by a bartender named Kelly. Let me tell you, this chick is the real deal! I have never seen someone multi task so well. She worked over the entire bar AND somehow kept up conversation with the customers (including me). She turned my otherwise awkward situation (being a straight girl and all) into an awesome experience. I wound up hanging at X Bar the entire night. Props to Kelly for her bad ass bartending skills! If ever in Denver again, I will be back! read more

Located on Colfax, just down the street from Charlie's and a couple of other gay bars. It's a 10 minute walk from the 16th street mall, so this is the place to be if you're looking to do bar runs on a Friday night. The bartenders are pretty cute, and often do not wear shirts (wonderful!). Drinks are reasonably priced and there is a coat check for 2 dollars. Two floors, each with a different dj (if you get tired of one you can move up or downstairs). The music is generally techno and dance mixes of pop songs. That said, depending on the DJ, the music can be hit and miss. Generally a nice gay crowd. Sort of favors the twink scene, and is also becoming a popular place for lesbians to hang out as well (though it is still mostly gay men). read more

You can dance the night away at this place. Okay, sometimes you and your friends may be the only ones dancing, but if the DJ is good and after people have some drinks, the dance floor can be full. There is a cage that people take turns to dance in. And there is a half naked guy that sometimes has moves, sometimes doesn't, but he has a good body, so whatever. The drinks are strong and cheap, the patio is a nice place to hang out, plus there is another bar out there. The second story has a smaller bar and a smaller dance floor but a little section with seating. Upstairs seems to be more chill then down. And after you party it up, you can head next door for some 24-hour-dinner-prevent-your-hangover food. No cover, oh and this is a gay bar, so there's a lot of guys. read more

Pass. There are gay bars in Denver with 20,000 times more hospitality and 40,000 more personality. Staff will be rude or just completly ignore you. This isn't the place to go just because it's the place to go. I think the building itself is tainted and as such no business can do well here until the bad mojo is removed. If your first name is Addy, last name Tootie, then you'll get along swimmingly here. Otherwise, visit the bars on 17th street for more deals and more fun... read more

First off, I have met both owners and they are great guys. It HAD the potential to be a favorite spot of mine because I really enjoy the mix of people I've seen each time I've been here, it has a new feel to it, and a great location. Unfortunately, a few things can definitely ruin a place. First, I have eaten brunch here twice and both times my food was cold. Not luke warm, cold. I decided to give dinner a try. So 8:30 on a Wednesday night, sorry kitchen is closed. But whatever, it's a bar right? Well, it could be with real bartenders. The girl is the only real bartender (as well as the owners). The rest should keep it movin. When the owners or Kellie aren't working, expect to wait for service. They need more experienced bartenders that can handle a bar and know some rules of service. Pros: Cool people, nice owners, really sweet bouncer, nice (but plain) decor, cool concept, great location, inexpensive Cons: Food, speed of service, lack of real bartenders, dj is awful read more

Great bartenders, amazing patio, and a very mixed crowd! We traveled from Dallas and I recommended the bar to friends based on having been there once before. This time the patio was revitalized and it was a great time! They had a great game going on where they either gave you a nut, or a screw when you walked in. You had to find the matching nut/screw and when you did you got a free shot. GREAT way to make sure everyone knew each other! We loved it and that made for a great night! read more

I wan't quite sure what to expect as I entered X Bar with my wife and Aunt at my side. This was our first time going to a gay bar and the first time at a drag show (unless you count Cirque de Soleil - Zumanity). I would label us as straight people who are incredibly open to the LGBT scene. We came to the X Bar to see the Drag Show. Now for the review... We arrived around 8, grabbed three seats at the bar and ordered dinner and a few drinks. It was so hot in there. I don't mean hot from all the sexy people, I mean hot from the lack of circulating air. A few guys flirted with me as waited for our food. It didn't bother me and made my company laugh at me. Nothing pushy, just harmless chatter. When the food arrived I couldn't believe it! I ordered the White Pizza. It was simply amazing. It honestly tasted better than food at many high end restaurants. All three of us sat in awe the "best food ever from a bar". The drinks were coming fast, the staff treated us with the greatest respect and friendliness. The people who complained about a grumpy bartender; I'm not sure what you were talking about. We were served by several bartenders (including Kelly - I assume she was the person they were complaining about). She treated all of us wonderfully. I look forward to visiting again and would love some fans added in the future. Lack of cool air (fans or whatever) made it uncomfortable. But after a few drinks and dozen trips to the bathroom I hardly noticed anymore. read more

Uh oh X Bar, a third review and I was really hoping it would be an outstanding one but its not. Compared to last time the staff was better, with the exception of a bartender who was once again rude to some of the people we were with. This last time I brought along a reasonable sized group for my birthday and so it was disappointing to have some of them treated poorly. I appreciate the additions to the rest of the space, the bathrooms were in good condition. Perhaps I'm not going on the right nights but again the DJ was hit or miss. While she didn't train wreck at all on her mixes, the music was mostly outdated and far too one sided on the genre selection. Not everything needs to be a remix. I grew up in the era of the original Tracks and so perhaps my expectations are high but we were given music by DJs who were competing to give us the most current or the best throwback mixes. They challenged themselves to be on top of it and that's how I learned to listen to dance music. I know they are a little more expensive but what would it take to get some of our community's well known DJs in on a residency? I'd love to have a bar to call home for hanging out and dancing that isn't Tracks or Charlies. This bar has a ton of potential and is getting better, but I'm not sure about going again until its established it's identity and it's market. read more

My friend brought me here, and the crowd was very nice, easy to make friends. It was a mostly gay+ male crowd. Love the outdoor area, really nice to sprawl and sit outside, at a club. Drinks were extremely cheap it was a wednesday. Drinks were strong but sugary- and that is a combination for destruction. Live DJ, they have Go Go dancers on the weekend. The videos made me laugh and giddy. I am easy to please, I like unpretentious and fun. read more

I have been coming to X Bar since it opened, and it is by far my favourite bar in Denver. The staff are all amazing and welcoming, recognize my friends and I and give prompt and courteous service. They host multiple house events during the week and weekends and offer an X Card which gets you discounted well drinks during the week! Anytime a friend is in town, I bring them to X Bar at least once, regardless of whether they are gay or straight. Everyone has a great time! I've never sampled their menu of food but the drinks are always strong and delicious. Highly recommended!! read more

I as straight white guy going there to meet up with my roommate (who is gay) who was having a college graduation party and was discriminated against by a black lesbian door person because I was rude. but in fact she had a question about my drivers license. I had a proper answer (my id is taped because it broke) and I said well it is just broken along the barcode. I have gotten it through multiple airports with this id. after asking why she then claims I am completely drunk and am not allowed in. (I had gotten off work 30 minutes prior). great door service. the place lost a hundred dollars because some lady doesnt know how to do her job. hope you read this x bar and know you I'm talking about ps. I've worked as a door guy and a bouncer so I know how the process goes.. read more

I went here with a few friends that were visiting from out of town on a Monday night. There wasn't much of a crowd, but the bartenders and few people that were there were so nice that it made up for the lack of a crowd. I here this place is normally packed and plan on checking it out on a weekend as well. We kept telling the bartender ideas of what we may want with a drink and he would just mix us something up, always strong, always tasty. He also told me about the VIP card which was free to sign up for and would get me even cheaper drinks in the future. We were interested to see what the upstairs area was like and so our bartender took us all up to check it out even though that area is closed during the week. Overall, wonderful staff from bartenders to doorman. Cheap, strong drinks. Great atmosphere, even when not packed. We made so many new friends there, will definitely be going back. read more

Great drink specials...cheap and awesome specials!!!! Wish the drinks were stronger and they had better quality vodka though....Compound Basix used to have superior vodka and HUGE very strong drinks but alas, sadly, The Compound closed.. LIL Devil's lounge has far better vodka and stronger drinks for about the same price...less younger guys though at LIl Devils Lounge though but friendlier people there.. When I go to X-Bar, I have fun but usually nobody talks to me...last time I went, I sat next to a couple of guys that were much older than me...I didn't butt into their conversation but I did try to laugh with them at a few things we both saw that were funny...and the older guys gave me attitude...wth!? But that's not the fault of X-Bar.. read more

So I already come here all the time with my bffs and we have a blast . But the real reason I'm leaving this review is because pride weekend Saturday I left my wallet here with my id, all cards , even a gift card to SEPHORA in it. How this was possible to do I'm not sure but I left it there . I came back to get it and not only was my wallet there with EVERYTHING still there, I also saw about 30 cell phones that had been turned in. If this doesn't tell you about the people that patron this bar idk what does. Thank you X and whoever the angel was that did this ! read more

On Sunday night after watching the GoT series finale we stumbled on this gem. The music was so lively it stopped us dead in our tracks we just had to check it out. Friendly atmosphere. The drinks were strong. There was also a drag show going on which was a pleasant surprise. I would definitely come back for more. read more

Being from Southern California I couldn't resist the $10 all you can drink scam. I mean really, $10 all you can drink who could turn that down? Drinks were poured pretty heavy throughout the entire day. They played edm music as well which was another plus. The atmosphere seemed a bit odd at first but after a couple hours everybody had a pretty good buzz and it ended up being a decent time. Oh and they had Giant Jenga set up which apparently is pretty popular in colorado! read more

Xbar is THE best place to meet good people without dealing w the club scene! The owners and the staff make it so welcoming. I'm not the typical guy to come here but if you want to get and give complements and dance your ass Off... come here! Kelly, Steve and Jorge are honestly amazing host. read more

Where to begin?! Whether you are looking for a place to dance the night away, have lunch, grab a quick Happy Hour drink with friends, or kick off Sunday Funday in style, this place is your best bet. For a new establishment, they have a great menu, WITH Vegetarian options, fun theme nights, and a good crowd. Everyone who works there is very friendly and looks pretty darn good with their top off. The owners Steven and Jorge are regular fixtures and want to make sure that everyone has a great experience. Need a break from the office? They have free Wi-Fi - score! I've only ever had a fun and welcoming time here and would recommend it to anyone living in or visiting Denver that is looking for a fun neighborhood bar or restaurant. Did I mention the 5 O'Clock shot? You shold stop by at 5PM sometime and see what thats about ;-). See you on the dancefloor!! read more

I'm being honest I loved this place the Manager Kristian is a bad ass . He makes you feel at home .

What a difference time makes. Last year we went the the "X" bar and the service was less than stellar. But the owner promised that he would make it better and we decided to try again. This time we knew what to expect. The three of us walked in and found a high table. Now that we knew there was no table service, one went and got the drinks. We had been turned away at another restaurant (because they were having a function it was overcrowded. 100 gay guys and lil ol me in 4" heels and a mini...it wasn't going to work out ;)) So we were hungry and knew the X served food (last time we ate there it was typical bar food..and it was ok). The new menu was excellent. I ordered the priscuitto pizza, yes all by myself. Perfect size and I ate it all. :) the others ordered the tacos. Excellent food and reasonable price. It is still a little loud for conversation though. The patrons are way younger than this ol....don't even think what you are thinking. It is a very nice and open place to go. The week before I had been invited to the show and maybe some time I will have to try that. Parking is good and easy to get to. I will now recommend this place when asked "Where can I go in Denver?" read more

It's alright. A bit nicer than a normal gay bar. Cheap drinks, friendly staff, nice inside. It's got a nice small dance floor with somewhat decent music. A good little seating area. It's nice that it has a big smoking porch to get away from the dark and the music. It's got more of a club feel than a gay bar and it's a bit dark for me. But aside from that it's not half bad for a night out. read more

I think I came at a bad hour. I was hungry and ready to have a drink. The drink was good, not too strong or weak. The food is actually from the place next door - so I am torn on the review. The food? Well..... It was OK for bar food. But if I got it in a restaurant, I would be sorely disappointed. The customers were some of the most social I had met in Denver, which was nice. But in the end, I had the guys cleaning up, moving chairs, and never even asking if I needed anything. I was obviously in the way. I left. read more

Not a bad place for happy hour other than the fact the music is too loud for socializing during happy hour. They are a confused place. Don't know if they are going for a club feel or a bar feel?!? Some of the staff is friendly, most of the staff not so much. I go ever few months, and thats about enough for me. read more

I haven't had a bad night here ever. The music has on occasion been a hit or miss and the entertainment can be meh. Outside of that a lot of awesome improvements over the years including cleanliness in bathrooms and bar staff. Drinks are fast love the people who come here and have felt a really positive and open vibe from others. I could turn around and see or dance with anyone. One night there was a creeper who was physically aggressive with my wife and the staff immediately handled it. They have their customers in mind. read more

Fun bar with great music, no cover, and cheap drinks. Much better than the others in the area.

One of MY FAVORITE PLACES IN DENVER!!! Really, I couldn't think of two better men to own this place. Steven & Jorge are wonderful!!!! It was fun. Great bartender Justin made our 8 Mules delightful. Festive on Sunday. Beer bash was well attended. Gracious hostess met us at the day to check this 69 and 60 year olds ID. We passed. We were old enough to be everyone Grand Dad. They fun. Great music. Savana was awesome. Very friendly and gorgeous to the eye. Rare to find a beauty with the gracious traits she shared. Little dancer was hot. Bow ties were in for one bar helper. Cheers. X bar was close to the gay bars before internet. Thanks X Bar for making our vacation complete. read more

Young crowd on Fri night. 50,50 men and women. Not my generation's approach to a gay bar, but that doesn't make it better or worse. Nice bartender, good draft beer selection, plenty of hang out space on 2 floors. read more

X Bar? XXX Bar is more like it. On both nights I was here, the bare skin factor was ratched up pretty damn high, despite the frostbite-inducing temperatures. Obviously, the guys here aren't afraid of a little sacrifice in the name of looking good. The guys hanging out on the patio must've been polar bears in a previous life or something. The staff here was great -- even when it was crowded, I snagged huge, highball-sized gin and sodas for $5. I definitely can't get prices like those anywhere in San Diego. The best part of X Bar is that it feels like a completely different spot, depending on the day you show up. My first visit was on a Saturday night, when it was a full-out dance club. People were packed in like sardines, dancing the night away to surprisingly good remixes of both past and present pop tunes. The deejay even took requests, which is unheard of anywhere else -- and actually played them within 5 minutes! Amazing! My second visit was on Monday night, and the vibe was completely different. Tables and lounge chairs were out where the dance floor used to be, and a few people were hanging out by the fake fireplace and chatting over cocktails and snacks. The massive gin and sodas had miraculously gone down in price to $3 (!!!), and the bar staff was as friendly as ever. If anything, they had gotten even chattier now that it was less frantically busy. Unbeknownst to me before I arrived, X Bar is also a popular local drag queen hangout, which is awesome, except for the fact that the queens love to step on my feet with their stilettos. I guess you have to keep up your XXX-worthy fabulosity somehow. Despite the bruises, it was easy for me to fall in love --- nay, lust --- with X Bar. read more

The drunkest I have ever been for happy hour.... I may be small, but I can hold my liquor. Maybe I walked into xbar with a swag or glint in my eye that said "go ahead, try me" to the bartenders. They were def up the unspoken challenge and two vodka sprites later, I was obliterated. So was my date. So was everyone in there. Okay or maybe just me, I can't remember. The drink specials were fantastic, service was prompt and friendly. And one pet peeve I have with male-centric gay bars with male bartenders is when they cater to men and ignore women. The bartenders this night were sexy, indiscriminate flirters/servers. Loved it. Music was generic techno but I wasn't expecting a dj for happy hour. The ambiance outside was great, nice big patio with different types of seating for groups and singles alike. Great vibes and friendly fellow patrons. The lowdown: Take your maiden voyage here on happy hour times. Heavy handed drinks that are easy on the wallet. Wanna nod to music? Sit inside. Wanna chat up your date? Sit outside. Dress casual and be ready to chat with a stranger or two! read more

I went here solo on a business trip, on a Monday night. I went for the washroom ( I needed to go, badly ) and ended up sitting at the bar, talking to randoms. I love Xbar because it's the music is always lit and the drinks are yummy. The only thing I wish is that they have variety on their drafts but most gay bars aren't known for their draft beers. Staff has always been nice and yes it does crowded so sometimes you wait to get served but isn't that a good problem to have? read more

Went here for a birthday party, cool place. Good music and drinks, even had some go go dancers . Overall a fun place with a great atmosphere

Rudest and disrespectful bartenders in Denver! It makes no logical sense why management retains two of the rudest bartenders that have been there for years. The blonde lesbian bartender who must work everyday is constantly rude to her customers will not make eye contact does not smile and forgets what drinks she is even serving. I am sure that there are a large job pool of great bartenders that could be hired at this establishment new faces are always great especially when they bring new life into the bar and negative energy from toxic employees are gone. My recommendation to any one coming in for the first time or repeat patrons choose your establishment and bartender wisely or your entire night of experience could be destroyed at X-Bar!! read more

We went on 80's night and it was a blast. Huge dancefloor and huge patio. There's also a cage for some people to get wild in, there's a bar that's kind of a weird layout but a bar nonetheless, and plenty of men in tight shirts shaking what their mama's gave them. read more
