Great flavor otherwise though! My next and last drink of the night was the pinky Paloma. I couldn't taste the cocktail and there was SO much peppercorn on top that it ruined the drink for me. All I could taste was the pepper. I think they were understaffed because it took like 20 minutes to get our drinks every time and they were not super busy. But our waitress was very nice. I have enjoyed the Wynkoop for many years prior to our meal last night. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars (I debated 3 stars because I was so bummed) because I went online to get a view of their happy hour menu and that menu had about 3 times the items on the happy hour menu then were on the actual in-restaurant menu. I was a little pissed off when I found that out. Anyway, I ordered off the main menu. I had the Nashville Hot Chicken sliders that were excellent. Instead of a bun, the chicken was on a savory waffle. All in all a 5 star meal. My wife had the vegetarian shepherd's pie. She rated it 5 out of 5, so overall two excellent meals. The beer was good, not excellent, I've had better microbrew's in Denver metro, so I rate their beer 3.5/5.0 and between us we tried 3 different ones. 2 IPAs, and the Patty's Chili (which my wife, a connoisseur of chili beers, gave it a 3.75/5.0) In short the food was excellent (5.0/5.0), our waiter was great (5.0/5.0) and the atmosphere was good, but it was a little hot in there, which I can forgive because it's a big old drafty building (4.0/5.0). Got a chance to hit a number of breweries this weekend in Denver. Wynkoop by far wins for friendliest staff. They went above and beyond to ensure we were able to get seated with a few extra friends that decided to join us even though our reservation was only for four. I came hungry stringy from the airport. I wanted to try local food and read pork green chilli is one staple here in Denver. It came very hot, both spicy and temp, as I like with a. Fresh wheat tortilla that usually I don't care for but it was super fresh and very fitting. It was very filling, satisfying and flavourful. Only one thing, it was my first time trying this dish. This is a great place to hang with friends and have a casual night out. It's very large with many pool tables (10+), foosball, shuffleboard, darts, and a few arcade games. There's a great selection of beer, and they brew most of them themselves. Happy hour offers $6 beer and $1 off appetizers. Pool is only $10/hr and darts are free. Wynkoop is fun but be prepared to wait a spell. We were there for lunch but kept losing our waiter. He was insanely kind and super sweet but darn it, he was like trying to catch a leprechaun after a rainstorm at the end of a rainbow... Impossible! Fun fact there is a bizarre "lift" near the restrooms upstairs... DO NOT GET IN THE LIFT!! It is for the apartments above the restaurant. The twins and I decided to give it a shot, we were not warned, and had quite an adventure . Mind you we did have a lot of giggles and made a ton of friends a long the way. Stopped by here after leaving early from a Rockies game. The group I was with were just looking for something quick to eat and somewhere we could watch some of the night football games on TV. Service was timely with food and drink orders taken quickly. However, food quality was pretty bad. I ordered the carnitas tacos and was pretty unsatisfied. On top of the flavorless carnitas and watery slaw, I spent time picking out a lot of fat and cartilage from my carnitas. My friend ordered the buffalo wings and they were basically wings with a light toss in buffalo sauce, nothing else. The wings were not crispy and did not have any flavor, making it necessary to drench them in ranch to have any taste. Another friend ordered to gumbo and felt like it had no flavor with a dry piece of cornbread on the side. Overall, the service was not bad, however, the food just was so below the bar between the group of 4 that we did not finish much of it. We came in on a Saturday afternoon to check out their brunch options. Everything looked good, but we decided to go with lunch. I wasn't a fan of the QR code menus. I mean I hate QR code menus to begin with but these are just awful. You have to toggle between 3 menus and it can be confusing. Our server, who was wonderful but also very new, seemed a bit overwhelmed, so I felt bad asking him questions and I didn't get a flight like I wanted and now see are available. I did try the strawberry rail yard ale and the beer trouble at little wynkoop (and tried hard not to be too offended and woke about these names) and they were excellent. The food was pretty good. We ended up getting a po'boy and fish tacos. My bf LOVED the fish tacos and they did taste really good. The po'boy was a bit lacking in terms of other po'boys I've had in other places. It was a bit dry but luckily the bread was soft and yummy. The fries are excellent. It's a large space and I appreciate the decor. This was my first stop when visiting Denver as Wynkoop is the closest brewery to Union Station. I didn't know much about it but it seemed alright so I decided to check them out. I took a look at their beer menu and one beer stood out to me and that was the Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout. I've never had Rocky Mountain Oysters so I had to try this one because I'm adventurous like that. I love a great Stout and this one was pretty good for some reason I thought it would have some chocolate and coffee but it didn't. This is a full on restaurant with a bar with a down stairs area. The food in my opinion is okay nothing outstanding and the service is also just okay. If you're just looking to have a quick beer and some wings then this is a good spot for that. read more

In terms of the drinks, the Dinger's Golden Ale was great; it was light and smooth. The Huckleberry Mule, however, was super disappointing. After a few sips, I couldn't finish it. All the appetizers we got were pretty solid. The house buffalo sauce on the Wings was delicious but the wings were small in size. The Fried Pickles were also perfectly crispy and thin. The Banana Fosters Pudding was a nice dessert to end the meal of with but it was a bit too thick and didn't taste fresh. Cruising the mad streets of Denver with my partner in crime, we decided to stop at Wynkoop for a local brew. Unfortunately we were not hungry but did opt for a delicious warm pretzel with cheese. It was a nice day so we chose to sit outside and enjoy crowd watching. This was earlier in the day so it was not too crowded and there was plenty of seating. For beers, we settled on the High Speed head butt; which was an IPA. I chose the Kooperstown, which was a blonde golden ale. My ale was tasty, smooth, and refreshing. The IPA was also very good, it did not have that bitterness that IPAs can tend to have. Our pretzel was a great compliment to our beers. It came with both cheese and mustard. The fluffiness, good chew, and slight saltiness made it a good pairing with beer. Overall, this place was great. They have tons of pool tables you can use upstairs. Staff were friendly and helpful! Air conditioning to beat the summer heat? Double check. But let's talk about that hummus plate: it was more "meh" than Mediterranean. The hummus itself was passable, but the red bell pepper had the texture of a soggy sponge--zero crunch and definitely not fresh. Calling those veggies "seasonal" is like calling a microwave dinner "gourmet." I'm pretty sure the carrots saw fresher days... last season. However, the atmosphere is great, and the service is fast and friendly. If only their vegetables had as much zest as their staff. Cool Brewery, there is some street parking and a parking garage around the corner. We ordered a flight of beer and some food. You can find the menu on a QR code on the tables. There's plenty of outdoor seating if you want to bring your puppers. Flight of 4: Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout - this was very good, a lighter tasting Stout with some coffee notes. Mile High Pale Ale - smells and tastes more like an IPA so not one of my favorites. Definitely a lot maltier than a standard vienna Lager Patty's Chile Beer - you definitely smell the hot pepper and you can taste a hint of the pepper but not too much of a kick. Still good though. Rail Yard Ale - Very tasty red Ale and super easy to drink. Probably one of my favorite ones. We ordered Shrimp Scampi, side of Garlic Smashers, Cheese Fritters, and Fried Oystet Mushrooms. The Shrimp scampi was so delicious and came with some toast. It was a little spicy but I loved it. Garlic smashers were super good, I wish they were a little more garlicky but they were crispy. They were like crispy Garlic potato wedges. The cheese Fritter was kind of like a fried cheese ball and the Chipotle jam had a really good kick to it. The Fried Oyster mushrooms were really delicious as wellll. I enjoyed all the food. What was also really cool is that some of the chefs and cooks came out and brought bacon for the dogs.
