Historic brewery with prime location downtown next to Union Station. Seating and service was quick on a Sunday night, with another couple dozen people eating/playing pool upstairs. Menu is fairly typical brewery food with a few unique options. Edamame appetizer was too spicy for the table while the pretzel was huge and tasty! Bison burger was cooked well and fries were crispy. Overall, good experience, you get what you expect and we will likely end up back here with friends again for food and/or one of the many group events that is always going on upstairs. read more

What a cool brewery/restaurant! Sat in the bar area to watch World Series, enjoyed some tasty brews and a giant pretzel with the best garlic beer mustard. If you're looking for a spot to play some pool, grab a beer with friends, and even sit down for a full meal this is the spot! love the vibes in here and located across from union just can't be topped. only beef is parking isn't easy, but that's to be assumed with anywhere downtown. take the train and save the planet! highly recommend this spot! read more

We are visiting from Portland Oregon and heard about this brewery on You Tube so we decided to come check it out once we got here. We walked in and it was a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The food was delicious and our waitor Thomas was amazing! There's also a large billiards area upstairs for those who like to have good beer and have fun. We would highly recommend to anyone visiting to make a stop at Wynkoop Brewing. Also, make sure you order the wings with dry ranch rub...delish! read more

During our trip to Denver we stopped by here twice. Once just for a beer and once for lunch. We went to many breweries during our trip and this was my least favorite beer during our visit to Denver but they do have a pretty extensive list of beers they brew. The food for lunch was pretty good. I had the Korean chicken sandwich and it was tasty. Service was decent and the inside ambience is really cool with what looks like an old place with a great old feel. It's convenient to Union Station and a decent lunch meal. The beer, well, there are better breweries around. read more

Perfect evening weather wise so ambience was really nice. We sat outside facing Union Station at a high top table. Beers were good - I got a Hefe and my husband got a Red Ale. The food was very average - I got the Brewers burger and he got the pork chops. For $19, the burger was very OK - had a fakey charbroiled flavor and wasn't overly flavorful or juicy. The sweet potato fries were tasty. The pork was VERY dry - was severely lacking a sauce (I thought it came with an apple sauce but it was mustarda glazed apples in top). Polenta was tasty. Glad we had the Denver Passport book so it was BoGo entrees. Positives were great location and the building/historic Feeling was cool. read more

I'm told this is the oldest brewery in Denver. Across street from Denver Union Station, so it is super easy as a first step into the city after taking the train from the airport - cheaper than Uber and prob easier. I tried a few beers and found the Pitcher Perfect IPA was the one for me - at least out of their standard IPA and Pales. It was mild to medium hoppy, clean with a unique flavor that was worth the visit. The others were all a bit of a hoppy 'Amber-esc' for my taste and not reminiscent of these types. Reminds me of beer IPAs in Texas more than the west coast, which I think is the gold standard for them. Call me what you will. Worth a visit for the history, atmosphere and ease. read more

Great service and bartender the people who work here are great! It's a great spot for a drink and snacks. The main course food for me is underwhelming. The "Korean Fried Chicken" sandwich is also described as kaarage, and seasoned with togarashi, both Japanese so not sure what part of it is Korean style? Not letting the misnomer affect my review I promise just confused. It was ok-the pickled peppers and spinach do nothing for the sandwich and the chicken itself while perfectly crispy was super bland. The whole thing fell apart and we had to eat both sandwiches with a fork. The coleslaw is what you'd get in any standard diner. The bbq pulled pork was very juicy but again the bun couldn't handle it and was coming apart like a sloppy joe right when served. My root beer had an awful flavor almost like mold or cleaning solution in it, not sure what that was from but if it's served from a tap that tap needs to be washed out. read more

First stop of the night for a beer, based on my niece's recommendation. It was busy enough that they had an hour wait for tables but there were a few seats at the bar. This is a neat spot with a deep history. It was the first craft brewery in Denver on Skid Row and started in a time when Skid Row was not a great place. All that's changed as Denver and this neighborhood gentrified and grew up. Today, standing across the street from the renovated Union Station, it's a seriously awesome watering hole. As much as I would have stayed for dinner, I had plans for elsewhere and a short time on the meter. I thoroughly enjoyed the Wixa Weiss beer and drooled over the fried pickles and burger that my neighbor enjoyed as we watched some ball game on the television. Off to the next but I am sure that I will be back to this place. [Review 18984 overall - 84 in Colorado - 2508 of 2022.] read more

Fried green tomato sandwich with chipotle Mayo was delicious. Bread thick, crusty, and chewy!!! Generous salad . Great service, food, and ambiance. Watermelon salad was fresh but could have used feta. Appetizer edamame had a chili oil on them, salty and crunchy and the pretzel was large and great to share. read more

Sat in the bar area at a table and waited about 10 minutes for any service or acknowledgment. The bartender finally told us we would have to come up to the bar and order since she was the only one working this area. What? OK. So all four of us go up to the bar and get our drinks and retrieve a food menu. We decide what we want and my daughter has to play waitress, write down what we want and take it up to the bar. She waits ten minutes before someone takes the order and brings back more drinks because who knows how long we would have had to wait for those. Food later comes and it is really pretty good. The shrimp po boy was nicely prepared and had a great sauce. We then had to bus our own table and take the dishes up to the bar. Later on, the bartender comes to our table and says the business didn't think it would be busy this particular night and didn't have enough staff. What?! It's March Madness and the city is hosting rounds one and two literally less than one mile away. You're a brewery. It's a tradition for my boyfriend to come here whenever he comes into town. This is our first trip together to Denver so we kept it going. It looks like Wynkoop has taken a hit on Yelp lately but my experience was great. Here's why: Pros- - excellent fish and chips- like some of the best I've had. And it's not like it's a hard dish to prepare but I've had not great fish & chips in the past. This fish was battered light so it was crispy and flaky. The chips cooked perfectly. - friendly & fast service. - close proximity to union station (literally across the street). - beautiful day to sit on the patio. Cons- - beer is just okay. Not bad, nothing stand out either. I honestly wasn't too focused on the beer since we would be attending GABF the next day. read more

Stopped here for with a few friends after work for a drink. I really liked the hot spiced rum drink but there was a thick layer of butter floating on the top that was off putting. Great flavor otherwise though! My next and last drink of the night was the pinky Paloma. I couldn't taste the cocktail and there was SO much peppercorn on top that it ruined the drink for me. All I could taste was the pepper. I think they were understaffed because it took like 20 minutes to get our drinks every time and they were not super busy. But our waitress was very nice. Lots of seating indoors and outdoor. Not much parking nearby other than street parking. read more

At a 3 1/2 stars overall rating, take the hint and go somewhere else. Had a cup of green chile 'soup'? ' It's not soup. It's not chili. It's diced green chile, onions and tomatoes tossed in a pot and heated up a little. Mine wasn't even hot through. Bush league. No salt, seasoning or other ingredients. I came hungry stringy from the airport. I wanted to try local food and read pork green chilli is one staple here in Denver. It came very hot, both spicy and temp, as I like with a. Fresh wheat tortilla that usually I don't care for but it was super fresh and very fitting. It was very filling, satisfying and flavourful. Only one thing, it was my first time trying this dish. It wasn't thick as I know bean chilli to be, it was more soupy. I'm not sure if this is how it meant to be. Service was attentive, welcoming and nice. read more

We came in on a Saturday afternoon to check out their brunch options. Everything looked good, but we decided to go with lunch. I wasn't a fan of the QR code menus. I mean I hate QR code menus to begin with but these are just awful. You have to toggle between 3 menus and it can be confusing. Our server, who was wonderful but also very new, seemed a bit overwhelmed, so I felt bad asking him questions and I didn't get a flight like I wanted and now see are available. I did try the strawberry rail yard ale and the beer trouble at little wynkoop (and tried hard not to be too offended and woke about these names) and they were excellent. The food was pretty good. We ended up getting a po'boy and fish tacos. My bf LOVED the fish tacos and they did taste really good. The po'boy was a bit lacking in terms of other po'boys I've had in other places. It was a bit dry but luckily the bread was soft and yummy. The fries are excellent. It's a large space and I appreciate the decor. We had a good afternoon and I'd come back when in Denver again, for sure. read more

This was my first stop when visiting Denver as Wynkoop is the closest brewery to Union Station. I didn't know much about it but it seemed alright so I decided to check them out. I took a look at their beer menu and one beer stood out to me and that was the Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout. I've never had Rocky Mountain Oysters so I had to try this one because I'm adventurous like that. I love a great Stout and this one was pretty good for some reason I thought it would have some chocolate and coffee but it didn't. This is a full on restaurant with a bar with a down stairs area. The food in my opinion is okay nothing outstanding and the service is also just okay. If you're just looking to have a quick beer and some wings then this is a good spot for that. read more

Ordered: Dinger's Golden Ale (~$6): light ale brewed with pale male, a touch of oats, and Noble hops (5% ABV) Huckleberry Mule (~$10): huckleberry vodka, ginger beer, lime Fries (~$5) Fried Pickles (~$9) Wings (~$14): in house buffalo flavor with celery, carrots, and served with ranch or blue cheese Banana Fosters Pudding (~$7) Aya's take: Wynkoop is considered Colorado's original craft brewpub and has plenty of patio and indoor seating. We sat at the patio before it started to rain and moved inside shortly after. Our waitress, Maddie, helped us out and handled our group of 5 very well! In terms of the drinks, the Dinger's Golden Ale was great; it was light and smooth. The Huckleberry Mule, however, was super disappointing. After a few sips, I couldn't finish it. All the appetizers we got were pretty solid. The house buffalo sauce on the Wings was delicious but the wings were small in size. The Fried Pickles were also perfectly crispy and thin. The Banana Fosters Pudding was a nice dessert to end the meal of with but it was a bit too thick and didn't taste fresh. If you are just coming for the drinks and light appetizers, you will not be disappointed! read more

Two stars are not for the service because they are a 10/10! Extremely kind people who were very understanding. Zero stars for the kitchen which left us waiting for an hour and a half for our entrees. Stopped by here after leaving early from a Rockies game. The group I was with were just looking for something quick to eat and somewhere we could watch some of the night football games on TV. Service was timely with food and drink orders taken quickly. However, food quality was pretty bad. I ordered the carnitas tacos and was pretty unsatisfied. On top of the flavorless carnitas and watery slaw, I spent time picking out a lot of fat and cartilage from my carnitas. My friend ordered the buffalo wings and they were basically wings with a light toss in buffalo sauce, nothing else. The wings were not crispy and did not have any flavor, making it necessary to drench them in ranch to have any taste. Another friend ordered to gumbo and felt like it had no flavor with a dry piece of cornbread on the side. Overall, the service was not bad, however, the food just was so below the bar between the group of 4 that we did not finish much of it. At this time, I can only recommend coming here if its for the drinks. read more

Wynkoop is fun but be prepared to wait a spell. We were there for lunch but kept losing our waiter. He was insanely kind and super sweet but darn it, he was like trying to catch a leprechaun after a rainstorm at the end of a rainbow... Impossible! Fun fact there is a bizarre "lift" near the restrooms upstairs... DO NOT GET IN THE LIFT!! It is for the apartments above the restaurant. The twins and I decided to give it a shot, we were not warned, and had quite an adventure . Mind you we did have a lot of giggles and made a ton of friends a long the way. Got a chance to hit a number of breweries this weekend in Denver. Wynkoop by far wins for friendliest staff. They went above and beyond to ensure we were able to get seated with a few extra friends that decided to join us even though our reservation was only for four. The food was good and beers were the star of the show here. I wasn't drinking much here, but my friends who are beer experts provided the two thumbs up. This is a very unique interesting venue. The service was excellent and very attentive. There is a nice variety on the menu from great salads and sandwiches to entrees. I had the chicken and waffles that were some of the best and I am from the southern us where they are a staple. They put their on unique spin on the dish with a wonderful light flavorful waffle with a house made syrup and tender juicy chicken.
