My wife and I recently decided we wanted to install two new doors on our house. Both doors…read morepresented a bit of a challenge: one we wanted to be larger than the existing opening and the second was an external door leading into our basement. Knowing this was going to be a good size job, we got a few quotes before starting the work. Daniel was one of the quotes. While he was not the cheapest, I was impressed with his knowledge and the thoroughness of the estimate. He also gave us a sheet of references and after calling some we picked him for the job. Right away I knew we made the correct choice. He did an excellent job guiding us through the process of picking out the doors and letting us know the type of hardware. When it was time for the work to start he was very communicative as to what he was going to do and when. He also sent me a few photos of the work in progress during the day so I could see what was going on. It was a nice touch. When the job was complete it came in on budget and was well done.

I can't say enough good things about working with Daniel and his team. My husband and I are new…read morehomeowners; our inspection revealed a very small rot problem that we planned to fix as our first project. Well, very small turned out to be not-so-small and we needed a contractor to help. Many of the contractors I contacted never returned my calls or emails. Of those who did, only Daniel asked lots of questions, came out to meet us and see the house, and stayed in contact without aggressively selling to us at every turn. Daniel was a pleasure to work with in every respect. He communicated frequently, was straightforward with us about options and cost and delivered a quick, professional result. He was friendly and respectful even though our little job and house are much smaller than his normal work. We're so thankful that we found a good contractor on our first try and will definitely work with Westbrook Restorations again! (Note: Westbrook Restorations isn't going to be your cheapest option, and it may likely be the most expensive, but it's absolutely worth it).

Ramon Arita did several roofing projects for me at good prices on several rental properties…read more However: * he is very unprofessional in many ways * initially installed gutters level (not sloping as they should be) with only one downspout per side of house (as opposed to two) * does not charge sales tax (therefore probably does not report his income) * said he thew away my materials receipts (for charges made on my credit cards) after promising to give them to me, costing me $1000s in tax deductions * when Ramon left to get materials, one of his workers (to whom I wrote a check directly at the start of the day) said he wouldn't be back the next day, because Ramon had always failed to pay him in the past. After intense urging, I paid Ramon the balance of our verbal agreements less $50, with his promise to God and his mother that he would finish some half-done flashing and poorly attached, dangling flashing at two separate properties. Our business relationship seems to have just concluded today, several weeks later, with a yelling, profanity laced tirade in which he vented his frustrations and denied that he said he would finish the work. I have significant construction experience and backbone, and was barely able to manage him and the endless re-dos which were necessary. Can't recommend his work.

Ramon Arita will promise you the world and deliver a mess. He will lie to you, take your money and…read morenever come back to complete the job. DO NOT hire this person or his services. He left my job unfinished and did not fix the leaking problem that I hired him for. He left the job site a mess. He did not clean up, and there was cement and glue material left on the walls, trim and walkways of the house. I have tried to get him to come back for 3 months, and for 3 months when I could get a hold of him, he promised to come back, but each time was a lie . . . he never showed once when he said he would. Not once has he initiated a call to me to address the unfinished work, and he ignores my texts, emails and phone calls. He is a very dishonest person who does crappy work. If I could give him zero stars, I would. DO NOT hire him. I am not sure he even has a valid business or construction license.

When I just moved into a house I recently purchased and moved out the previous owners'…read morerefrigerator, I found mold on the wall next to the refrigerator. I tried not to panic and cleaned it off with bleach. I also called Environix a week or so later because I smelled that mildewy musty smell. Brian was very nice to me on the phone -- gave me advice, told me more about mold, etc. I was very pleasantly surprised that he didn't do what most companies would do -- tell me he can't tell me anything until he comes to look at it (and charges me). We left it at I will paint it with a mold killing paint that I bought and if I still smelled the smell, to call back and someone would come take a look. Unfortunately, I did have to call them back a couple weeks later and Dustin came to my house. He was great. Given the panic factor that the word "mold" elicits in me (and others I'm sure), he could have played off that and tried to sell me a lot of costly services. But he didn't -- and I really appreciate that. He did a thorough inspection of the room and the crawl space below it and talked to me for quite a while about a plan forward. Yes, I paid for his visit but it was well worth the cost because we came up with a plan for me to address the mold issue (which is thought to currently be limited to the laminate flooring which needs to be replaced anyway). So, I'll try the steps that he and I discussed and hopefully not have to call them again. However, if it doesn't work, I will definitely call them (and recommend them to others) because they are not only helpful but they seem to be very honest and willing to help people (i.e., not just make a quick buck).

He could have recommended expensive interventions, but instead he shared information with us for free. We really admired his knowledge and integrity.
