We called for an estimate we had mold in our attic, Ryan seemed very nice until he tried pushing a "smart exhaust timer" I told him we already had a exhaust timer that worked just fine, apparently they must of had a quota to meet because when the tech came out to do our remediaction they brought a NEW SMART TIMER that I specifically said I didn't want , and I apparently paid for. I was also told if I didn't get the timer they wouldn't give me the warranty. So 3 business days later I'm still waiting to be reimbursed for the timer I didn't want and I still haven't gotten a completion report. So I feel that they are retaliating because I'm calling them out for something I didn't want nor did I request it. And this company is doing the least amount effort , I get more from MC Donald's when they mess my order up!!!! read more

Matt came and did a thorough inspection of the attic space and the upstairs living space. Afterwards, he provided us a very detailed explanation of the conditions inside the attic. He didn't recommend any remediation work, as he did not find active mold activity, and provided us with recommendations for how to maintain a mold free environment. We really appreciated his honesty and professionalism. This company has a very informative website. I have been trying to figure out what to do about high mold counts for a year. Consulted with two mold professionals and they were not clueless but not thorough either. I called another who was obviously a scam. I get the counts down and then they come back. I have a friend who has been going through this, too, and she has been scammed and payed a small fortune without result. That is why I am trying to inform myself and came across this website. When my husband and I were deciding to purchase our first home, the home inspector found mold in our attic. I hired them to do some asbestos and lead testing on my home after they were recommended to me by the design-build company doing a renovation project here. Making the appointment was easy. They sent out a technician by the name of Dustin, who took the time to make sure all the necessary tests would be performed. Some of them, he explained, would require him to cause some damage, but he did so extremely carefully, making sure the areas would hardly be noticed. I called Environix to inspect my home because the air in my home was causing me to be ill. They came with their equipment, and their professional inspector. He stayed for about an hour, used his equipment in search of the problem. At the conclusion of his inspection he said there was no air quality issue just some dust. He sent me his report via the email confirming his conclusion. I was shocked, I knew I was only getting sick inside of my home. So I got another referral from a friend. This I believe is the best way to get credible references. I called Bluesky testing. They sent a technician who had an abundance of experience with home inspections, and equipment that focused in on my air quality issue. Paying Environix was like giving away money. When I just moved into a house I recently purchased and moved out the previous owners' refrigerator, I found mold on the wall next to the refrigerator. I tried not to panic and cleaned it off with bleach. I also called Environix a week or so later because I smelled that mildewy musty smell. Brian was very nice to me on the phone -- gave me advice, told me more about mold, etc. I was very pleasantly surprised that he didn't do what most companies would do -- tell me he can't tell me anything until he comes to look at it (and charges me). We left it at I will paint it with a mold killing paint that I bought and if I still smelled the smell, to call back and someone would come take a look. Unfortunately, I did have to call them back a couple weeks later and Dustin came to my house. He was great. Given the panic factor that the word "mold" elicits in me (and others I'm sure), he could have played off that and tried to sell me a lot of costly services. But he didn't -- and I really appreciate that. He did a thorough inspection of the room and the crawl space below it and talked to me for quite a while about a plan forward. Yes, I paid for his visit but it was well worth the cost because we came up with a plan for me to address the mold issue (which is thought to currently be limited to the laminate flooring which needs to be replaced anyway). So, I'll try the steps that he and I discussed and hopefully not have to call them again. However, if it doesn't work, I will definitely call them (and recommend them to others) because they are not only helpful but they seem to be very honest and willing to help people (i.e., not just make a quick buck). read more

This past summer, I moved into a recently-flipped house and found that I had a moisture issue in the downstairs/basement level. I could feel it in the air and furnishings and what I read about moisture issues online scared me. I was initially referred to another company but found that they only did structural remediation (cracks in foundation and that sort of thing) but they told me Environix was what I was looking for. I needed a moisture detective who was going to help me figure out why the downstairs felt damp, help me understand any impact of the issue to humans and pets living in the house and explain what my options were for addressing it. Environix sent out Michael Croston. Michael was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. All the good stuff you want someone in this line of work to be. He was also sensitive to the fact that we have 2 skittish dogs in the house who were not at all excited about us having a visitor. Michael patiently conducted a thorough series of tests and answered all my questions along the way. He also gave me additional insight to things he saw while he was conducting the tests; things that could help me increase our comfort in our home. He advised that he would be completing a report based on all of the findings and that the report would have the final determination, but he also took the time to talk through some of the things that typically resolve issues like mine. A few days later I got the report and now have a plan to address the issues (for us, it looks like inadequate ventilation is a big part of it). The report includes recommendations for what should be done now and other things to keep an eye on. It also includes air quality data, which is helpful to anyone who wants to have a healthy environment. I have been really happy with my experience with this company - there was no up-selling or pitching or anything like that. Just a really simple and clear experience with a knowledgeable professional. If I could rate them 10 stars, I would. I was in a crisis situation with our house falling out of escrow due to a toilet tank leak two years ago that was identified within 4 1/2 hours of starting. The remediation company did everything to repair and remediate the damage, restoring the impacted areas to as good as new. The speed of the repair meant that there was no opportunity for mold to develop. The buyer, unconvinced, rescinded her offer and we out of escrow, putting our close on a new home in CA in jeopardy with 2 leaks to go. I found Environix early Tuesday morning, and despite being last minute, they fit me in for an appt the following morning, David Mallory was the technician performed the testing. He was thorough, courtious, patient with my questions. He offerred/recommended testing the full house, since it wouldn't cost any more and we would then have the results for the full house. David agreed to talk to my buyer and explain what he did and what he found. The buyer was much calmer after she talked with him, and came over to see the areas he tested. She then elected to rescind her rescission. David was simply exceptional. He represents the organization with incredible knowledge, patience, and kindness. David's colleague Kathy was equally as impressive, courtious, and finding a way to get the air samples processed by Wed evening so we could imform the buyer. Although the transfer to and backlog at the lab meant they couldn't expedite the work as quickly as they were hoping, Kathy called me back to apologize and commit to communicating the results the next morning. Brian called and left me a voicemail about the quote I requested on Yelp. I called back and Brian was very thorough in explaining the process to me as a first time home buyer. We setup our appointment and he said who our inspector would be and clearly explained the base cost and additional cost for additional samples if we needed/wanted any. My dad was the one to be there to let Dustin in and when Dustin was running ahead of schedule, he offered to come by earlier so I was able to coordinate him and my dad to meet an hour earlier. We had thought about getting a drywall sample taken but Dustin informed my dad that 3 samples would have to be taken and unless we were planning on taking major walls down, it probably wasn't worth it. I appreciate his professional opinion to help us avoid paying for something we didn't really need. My dad gave a good review of Dustin, "nice guy". Our invoice came out to the price quoted and we received our report two days after the samples were taken. This was extremely helpful because when I originally spoke with Brian he said I would have the results by the end of that week which I based scheduling an asbestos abatement contractor around so I am very happy that everything worked out. We own a home in Seattle and called Environix to come in and test the air quality throughout our house (and check ceiling for asbestos).
