I talked to many other flooring contractors before LUKS, and I was most satisfied with LUKS. The thing with flooring is there are so many unknown costs and most contractors are not the best at explaining every single step of the process. Andrew from LUKS is exceptionally good for customers like me that are particularly trying to understand everything - I took so much time trying to understand the type of flooring, the color of the stains, the type of finishes and the process. Throughout the entire process, Andrew has answered (literally) hundreds of questions from me, and they provide such a detailed quote that you get to understand where their efforts are put in. Andrew and his team worked very hard in every aspect of our flooring - carpet removal, basement LVP installment, 1st floor refinishing with staining, 2nd floor new hardwood installment and refinishing, along with set of stairs with LVP and another with refinishing existing hardwood. If you're reading this, please give a try - they offer high quality service with superb communication. I recommend asking lots of questions to make sure you get what you want, along with snacks and drinks for the workers. They're ok. Certainly not sure why it's rated 5 stars on Yelp. Yes, they communicate quickly and respond almost as soon as you message them. But work is only so-so. The work We put laminate flooring in and yes while the flooring was installed correctly, baseboards (originals) were sloppily put back on. They also broke items in the house and did a pretty messy job. Also, floor creaks where there wasn't any creak before. The cost Expensive but I don't see any net-positives compared to cheaper competitors. I'd expect more than prompt communications for the premium price. So overall if you want timely responses (and not much else while paying a premium) I'd go with them. Maybe laminate isn't their thing or maybe the bar has gotten so low all it takes for 5-star reviews is just by responding in a timely manner. read more

Andrew and Alex were fantastic. I needed a portion of my subfloor leveled and they removed my existing LVP floor and leveled everything perfectly. There was an issue with the new spare floor I bought being of a slightly different size but they made everything look seamless and were of great value, much less than another quote I got. They even came late into the day to wrap things up which worked well for my short turnaround time since I'm doing multiple remodeling projects. He was very patient and professional in helping me choose the right color and design and willing to pick up items from Home Depot for me. Communication was great; he returns our texts quickly since we are moving from out of town. We really appreciate their efforts in getting things done on time while we were not there the whole time. Andrew's communication is ON POINT. I cannot stress this enough, I've dealt with contractors who would take days to reply to a simple text. Andrew replies within 5-15 mins. In this day and age sometimes it's just easier to use text and Andrew definitely is on top of communicating with his clients like the other reviewers said. The quote was also detailed and we paid for what we saw in the quote at the end. We were moving to a new home, and were dealing with a ton of stressful time sensitive scheduling and Andrew was able to squeeze in time to make our project a reality! His guys worked at a really fast but quality pace and finished ahead of schedule and were low key. Andrew came for a final inspection at the end to make sure everything is good to go. Had Andrew's company install 650 Sq feet of new hardwood as well as plywood to level the space. Andrew sent Alex, his one-man superstar. Alex got the job done like a champ in one day. He cut doors, doors jams, and did all the usual detail work that make a wood floor perfect. He was tidy and his cuts were so prcise and judicious that they allowed me to return some of the extra wood I bought. I am so pleased with LUKS. The cost of the labor was about average compared to other contractors. I highly recommend them to you. read more

Unfortunately, we didn't have the same experience that others have had with LUKS. It appears they used a subcontractor for our job which was a first time floor wood floor refinishing. They initially tried a water based finish which they said had some type of chemical reaction which left the floor with a hazy and cloudy finish. They said they would do whole floor again, sanded again. Only problem was they had other work booked so the 3 day job took about 1.5 weeks now. Upon our return to our home we found specs of drywall, hair and dirt in the finish. Huge swirling scratches all throughout the floor and when having the baseboards reinstalled we found the floor to be so uneven that we had to have carpentry work done to make it appear flush. When complaining to LUKS they were great at responding but they said they were very sorry but couldn't do anything about it. We basically had our floors refinished twice and with so much of the floor sanded off and the unevenness, we will have to have our floors replaced. They also put down a top coat which was supposed to be extremely durable. However, the finish is terribly fragile. We are noticing very obvious, large scratches just from things like running a vacuum over the floor or sliding a small box of Christmas decorations. They did return about 1/3 of our payment for everything that happened. Unfortunately, I don't feel this is adequate when we will have to replace our flooring. read more

We loved working with Andrew. He is professional, patient and highly competent. We contacted him to remove the carpet upstairs in our house and refinish the original floors which we had never seen. He scheduled our job, was always prompt in providing quotes, and solved the problems that came up along the way. When he encountered unattached old flooring with a missing subfloor beneath, he repaired the flooring and fixed the original flooring. We were on vacation while he did this and felt very comfortable trusting him to do this while we were away. Highly recommend! read more

I originally contacted Andrew to refinish wood floors which were underneath dated carpet in an older home that I had just purchased. Unfortunately the floors were damaged beyond repair, and we had to change plans and install completely new floors on short notice and during a very short timeline before I moved into the house. Andrew was somehow able to pull off this job ahead of schedule and on budget, and ended up giving us 3-4 extra days back before we had to move into the house. His work was impeccable, and the project was far more reasonable than multiple other quotes that I received. Whenever we need more flooring work done in the future, I will go with Andrew and LUKS Construction in a heartbeat. I highly recommend Andrew and his crew. He communicates clearly, honestly and fast. We did out of state move last year and I was really nervous to pay half of the fee and leave the house key with a stranger. When I asked for updated pictures of progress and he replied fast to assure things are going well. We had to take care of few minor details after the work was done he replied to my text fast and addressed issues in couple of days. We were also on the tight schedule to finish the hardwood floor - about 1100 square footage and Andrew made it happen a day before the moving tuck bought all of our stuff. They wrap everywhere with plastic film so no dust on any place. They sanded deep down to the bare wood then 3 coatings of water based looks beautiful. I am writing this review on behalf of Andrew and his team at LUKS Construction.  I hired LUKS to install LPV flooring in a finished basement and to refinish 90-year old hardwood floors in the rest of my home.  Before I get to the quality of the work, let me comment on Andrew's communication skills.  He is an EXCELLENT communicator.  I have hired many contractors over the many years I have owned properties in Seattle, and Andrew sits right at the top of the list in terms of communication.  He is clear and prompt without fail.  You'll find no better communicator than Andrew.  Now to the work.  The first comment on the work I will make is that when Andrew sets a schedule, he meets the schedule.  This project was broken into two steps (the LPV and the hardwoods) and both projects ended precisely on time.  And the second comment is about the results - they are beautiful.  The LPV has completely changed the vibe of my basement in a positive way.  And the work required some custom touches around the stairwell that Andrew was able to adjust to with out difficulty.  And the hardwoods after refinishing look incredible.  I am so happy with the quality of the work.  Now here's the kicker...after completing the project, another contractor inadvertently flooded my property.  This event ruined my newly refinished hardwoods.  It was devastating.  Fortunately, insurance paid for new hardwoods to be installed and of course I hired LUKS to do this work.  After another round of work that was completed on-schedule again, the hardwoods look amazing again.  I cannot recommend LUKS Construction with any more enthusiasm.  I will happily act as a satisfied customer reference for Andrew and his team. read more
