I had my first session a mere few days later and it was beautiful. The atmosphere was relaxing and cozy. The fabric I draped myself with was super soft and luscious. A soothing playlist was playing in the background. The steam session was the perfect temperature... very durable for my first time. Based on her evaluation, she chose to do "cleanse" herbal mix on me for this session. With no exaggeration, the first couple of minutes I had effortless tears softly cascading out of one eye. It felt like I was releasing; I immediately began to meditate and savor this moment for the duration of the session. Overall, it was such a lovely experience. Immediately afterwards I was so ecstatic to do it again in the near future. I really want to make yoni steamings a monthly routine to "pour into myself" as a form of self-care. I drive over an hour each way to see her and it's been so worth it. I originally went to see Marisa for extreme anxiety and ongoing sleep issues, after trying what felt like every modality out there: somatic exercises, journaling, therapy, BIT, meditation, breath-work...you name it. While many of those helped in their own ways, nothing truly moved the needle for me the way hypnoacupuncture with Marisa has. From my very first session, there was an obvious shift. Even the people around me noticed. After that first session, the tension in my shoulders decreased, and the only way I can describe it is that everything (physically & mentally) felt like it had been taken down a notch. Since working with her, my sleep has completely transformed. I went from having an extremely hard time falling asleep and waking up almost every hour, to now pretty much sleeping through the night. This comment gave me pause to think about exactly how well, or unwell, my healthcare really was and began my search for a new health care provider. Dr. Liu is gentle and explains where he's placing the needles as he goes. Part of acupuncture treatment includes the doctor leaving the office after the needles are placed for about fifteen minutes. I think that information is helpful-especially if it's your first treatment. I've actually fallen sleep during this short period of time! His office accepts insurance coverage so worth checking out if your plan covers it. Holding back a star because it's tough to schedule appointments during the week. Availability trends between 10 -4 and each treatment is about an 45 mins to an hour start to finish. There are Saturday appointments available,however, and that's what I've been taking advantage of.
