The final straw was when I could not keep any food in - no matter what I ate, it came right back up. After months of visits they finally did an abdominal ultrasound and found I had gallstones. When I asked how to get rid of them they told me 'we can prescribe pills, but we don't treat it: we wait for it to get bad and do surgery'. What!? You can treat it, but you'd rather send me to a surgeon. OK. I'm out. And my search for a real HEALTHcare provider began. That is how I found Providence Wholistic. The state of RI does not accredit Naturopathic Physicians (like other states do) even though they have the same scientific education as an MD plus they study holistic therapy focusing on keeping you well. Therefore, it's out of pocket, and I still need a PCP to order lab tests and so on. (I found a new one of those too) The naturopathic association is working on getting RI up to speed. In the mean time, I am very, very happy to have found Dr. Sheila Frodermann. First up was pesky symptoms that every ageing woman experiences. The PCP had advised me my only option was to 'suffer' (the bedside manner is weak with that one) - Dr. Sheila gave me actual things I could do to reduce and resolve symptoms including introducing me to herbal supplements. No more pesky symptoms. OMG! Why did I wait? Next up, I'm always deficient in Vit D. Well, Vit D is a fat soluble vitamin, if your gallbladder is not working on digesting fat, you are not getting Vit D. So, we add a supplement that helps my gallbladder do what it is supposed to, and voila, Vit D is no longer a problem. My brittle bones thank you. And on, and on and on. All the things I have been dealing with for YEARS, Dr. Frodermann got to the root of at my very first office visit. Holy moley and thank you Universe for finally getting me to someone who actually knows how to keep me healthy! It's a team effort. She has the knowledge, makes recommendations, instructs, and I do the work. I'm all good with being the creator of my own healthy life. Wholistic medicine takes the entire person into account when prescribing a course of treatment. It's not a one pill cures all, kind of place. You may have to change your diet (I did and she explained why), exercise more (stupid triglycerides), take supplements and/or add some kind of body work into your routine (I love a good massage). All of it is worth the effort if you are truly interested in getting HEATLTHY. I am grateful to have found a health advocate. A group of professionals who work with their patients to figure out what it is that each individual body needs to function at it's healthiest. Every body is unique. What works for you may not work for me. You are treated as an individual here. They are supportive and my visits to their office are always a pleasure. Dr. Behtash was recommended to me by my doctor at Memorial Hospital, Dr. Susanna Magee - who was my doctor for both of my pregnancies. I enjoyed Dr Magee's style, ease of emailing communication, and asked for her to recommend a local provider to be my regular physician. Dr. Behtash runs a micro office, which allows her to spend a ton more time with her patience -- you set up your appointments, and even email her through an app or online. This helps because she is the one who writes back to you - not a nurse! My first visit with her was about an hour. She took the time to truly understand me and my history, and has been incredibly kind at subsequent visits. She is young, knowledgable, warm, and welcoming - and I 100% recommend her to others! My husband just made the switch, and he said the quality of care was unlike anything he had ever experienced. And the best part - barely any waiting for my appointment!

The waiting room is welcoming and the private treatment rooms are quiet and calming. Each room has it's own tone, that is set fourth by the therapist. This place is without a doubt top notch. They are a full service healing center that offers quite an impressive menu of holistic treatments that are 100% client focused. It is clear that the therapists and all staff in general are there because they want to be. Therapists are knowledgeable and incredibly able to contour every treatment to the client's needs or requests. I have been in with Stanley for a 70 minute deep tissue massage. Stanley is incredibly talented and focused on your body and body responses. He is professional and thorough. The deep tissue experience is just wonderful - especially for those that are on their feet for their profession - Nurse, etc.. I have scheduled another massage with Stanley and cannot wait to go back. It really helps to detoxify the body, loosen the muscles and clear the mind. I recently went in for a 70 minute hot stone full body Swedish massage with Kayla. Kayla is a very skilled and masterly in her craft. Her massages literally take you to another place. I was so calm and relaxed when I left I had to sit in my car for a minute before I started driving! She spares not one second of your session for anything other than making you feel absolutely wonderful. I plan on being a regular of Kayla's as well. This place is a 10. It is such a step above your "chain" massage centers. If you are looking to take your healing needs to the next level, look no further. They offer amazing incentives for first-timers and students. The facial starts out well. Cleansing, exfoliating, microderm, all fine. Then she asks if I want extractions for an extra $10. I have literally never gotten a facial costing over $40 where extractions weren't included... But I go for it since I'm on a Groupon. She gets the tip of my nose and that's it. Seriously? I KNOW my skin isn't so perfect that it doesn't need extractions. It had been months since my last facial! Moving on. She puts the mask on. She's mixed in tea tree oil which starts to sting my face, so I let her know. She is very nice and takes it right off and applies some aloe instead. Here's the problem: she was just bragging to me about how cheap aloe is, $1.49 at the store. Then she goes and puts it on my face as my mask, and never puts another one on after the tea tree one. So the $1.49 aloe is my mask. Sorry, but I could have done this at home. Then the facial is over. It lasted 50 minutes. No massage. No head rub. No real mask, hardly any extractions. Total "value": $143 not including tip. I mean... So then I email them my grievances and explain why I didn't like my experience. No one answers. Instead I start getting mass promo emails. I even respond to one of them reminding them that I had messaged them with some feedback. Again no answer. Bye bye Dharma! I originally went to see Marisa for extreme anxiety and ongoing sleep issues, after trying what felt like every modality out there: somatic exercises, journaling, therapy, BIT, meditation, breath-work...you name it. While many of those helped in their own ways, nothing truly moved the needle for me the way hypnoacupuncture with Marisa has. From my very first session, there was an obvious shift. Getting appointments with the practice has been notably smooth throughout my time with them; the staff is willing to work with you based on your needs and clinician availability. I've also enjoyed seeing a few of the other practice members (eg Benitez, Berg, Rodriguez), each of whom is thorough, knowledgeable, and helpful. The use of the Healow medical app as a portal, and their fully integrated connectivity to electronic medical record systems, has given me peace of mind that all my instances of care are suitably connected in one place. It's also convenient to be able to head downstairs for a quick and easy blood draw when required - and again, clear results are available in the app shortly thereafter. I've also noticed the patient set is younger than it used to be - not just geriatrics anymore. As important as anything above, Dr Ruggieri is friendly and engaged during visits, as the rest of the staff I've dealt with are also. I definitely have a "medical home" at Wayland Medical.
