Update 9/26. There's a new review panning the food, dated 9/25, but looks more like this girl, Alicia, didn't look at the menu, and didn't know what they had. Another thing to note on is that she's upset that they didn't have "potstickers", lol. Quote "What Asian restaurant doesn't have potstickers?" First of all, "potsticker" is an American English term. That's NOT what they are called in one single Asian country in the world. In Japan, it is "gyoza". And THAT is what is on their menu. *eye roll*. And yeah, it's NOTHING like Panda Express. *Facepalm*.
On a similar note as Alicia's review, however, the second time, I ordered almost the exact same dish. It was good, but not tdf like the previous one was. Where the sauce was heavy on garlic (and tasty!), the sauce this time was super sugary (yuck!). I had the chicken eggplant this time. The eggplant previously was peeled. This time it had the skin. No big deal, but I did like the skinless eggplant better. The previous eggplant also had a smokey flavor, not so here. The Japanese inspired flavor was gone. Nothing at all like that here. Perhaps that flavor was in the beef??
So, still good, but not great. I left this as a 5 star rather than 4 to counteract Alicia's bad reveiw and erronous assumptions about potstickers.
Original: Food is really good. Had the beef with eggplant. There were decent portions of both the beef and the eggplant, and they had a good Japanese inspired flavor to them. Where most Asian/Chinese sauces would be overly sweet, the sauce here was more pungent with garlic, without being overly garlicky. The mushroom with beef was also excellent. Not sure if they were worth $15 apiece, especially since it was really only one serving (not generous as some others have stated online - though the portions of eggplant and beef themselves were decent, not the rip off piddly amount you see at other places. The overall meal wasn't more than one portion per person).
I'm guessing that as time goes by, after the initial hoopla, that standards will drop. We'll see. And I'll surely come back here to comment. But for right now, it's two thumbs up! read more
