If i could send a negative star review i would everything was undercooked and quality of food was beyond awful the sushi tasted like a swamp fish and the pork tasted like chemicals do not go here unless laxative don't work for you because i promise you, your going to be bleeding from your asshole and wishing this place wouldn't have existed. read more

My daughter & I were craving sushi. Seen this. We went there. Huge mistake... The sushi was bad. There was less amount & the avocado were old. We didn't get to eat some. Then, went in line for food. Everything was less amount of food again, the desserts empty and some fruits were molded. Even my drink, hot tea didn't taste right. I asked to change my drink, which they did. Only thing I liked was the chop stick I got for my daughter. read more

I saw the reviews and was a bit skeptical, but I was craving sushi and a restaurant with a sushi bar is something I can't pass up. There was SO MUCH FOOD. Some food wasn't as flavorful as my husband wanted, but I'd say if it doesn't have the flavor punch you're looking for, there's lots of other options. I was pretty satisfied with everything they had to offer. Food was continuously coming out, so it was hot and fresh. For the price you pay, it's 100% worth it. Service was on par. Staff was nice and attentive. The experience was peaceful. Don't go solely off the bad reviews. Try it for yourself. We're glad we did. read more

I've eaten there too many times and ended up with an upset stomach or diarrhea. The staff have been nice. No complaints there. Food quality is erratic. read more

Quite a bit of back and forth on this particular restaurant within the reviews. It is conveniently located next to the Hampton Inn on East Griggs and very easy for a traveler to pop over. I asked at the front desk their opinion on the place and it literally had mixed reviews. It was late and I did not want to go anywhere else at a long day of travel so I walked over. You pay for the buffet as you enter. Price to inlcude drink was around $14.50. Proceed to your table with your ticket and one of the wait staff will get your drink. Not very crowded when I went. Fairly large selection of soups, appetizers, entrees, sushi and dessert. I will say that some of the product on the line looked fresher than others. Checked out the sushi and spoke to the chef who was preparing it. Wanted to make sure it had not been sitting out too long. He assured me that it was recently prepared and asked me if there was anything in particular I might like (very nice). Got a full plate and cautiously dug. It was very good. Went back several times and the chef even prepared something special for me with mackerel. I was pleased with the sushi. I did not really get much from the hot bar, but what I got was okay, perhaps a little dry from sitting too long. So, an acceptable meal. read more

An option is take-out! For me, rice, couple of chicken options and mushrooms were all okay and the price was right as I am to pay per pound. I am not a buffet person, nor a big eater, but if you are then check this place out as you will probably love it! read more

The food was great and "fresh" but I think it's because they were getting ready for dinner around 4ish. Nice staff, quick with refills. The sushi wasn't bad either. Clean place. read more

Great Chinese food! To me, as a Chinese, their food is really tasty. I like their Sushi and seafood. read more

They charge dinner prices and are serving lunch food. I came in at 5:00 PM paid dinner prices. Went to get hot and sour soup there wasn't even enough to fill a bowel even if you scrape the bottom. I had to ask them to put out more. The chicken was extremely over cooked and only room temperature. I understand they have no competition for a Chinese buffet in this town, but that is not an excuse for this type of quality when charging premium prices. Every item that I selected hoping to satisfiy my hunger was not fresh or hot. I basically just ended up going elsewhere after in order to get a decent dinner read more

Our dining experience was horrible. It was Memorial day, May 30, 2022 the two Chinese employees where fighting in Chinese in the dining area. They were soooo loud! Everyone heard them, saw them. It was scary. They could have handled it differently. It did not only happen once but more than three times. The two employees continued fighting every time they encounter each other in the dining area. We lost our appetite due to this incident. Food is okay. The dining experience was horrible! read more

We arrived at 11:00 and were greeted by an arrogant cashier who clearly was unhappy with her job. I sampled the sushi first and found a large variety of items and they were all freshly prepared., which is why I didn't rate them with one star. They offered a huge selection of Chinese and American items as well, I sampled several and although they were fresh, they were mediocre at best. I recommend this place if you don't care about the quality of your food or if all you want to do is fill yourself up with fatty, mediocre food. read more

I work all the time in Las Cruces and by the time I end my day I usually grab something on my way to hotel next to Grand Buffet. Well tonight I got off early and after a lot drive from Northern New Mexico I was starving. So I figured I'd give it a go. To say the least nothing really looked appetizing... Most of the food was luke warm at best. The pork... well let's just say the sole of my boot would've be easier to chew. The selection was vast but the place was kinda dirty... and it made me skeptical. So I stuck to stuff that was cooked and not from the sea... I stayed till about closing time when they started cleaning up. I did notice that they would pull the trays from the warmers and cover them as if they were going to reuse the food for tomorrow... not sure about that but just my guess. I got up and got some ice cream which was more like milky... flavorless slushee. While I was up the lady who never waited on me cleared my table and I didn't have a drink. She did offer me a new drink but that was the only time I saw her. Probably won't come here again unless I absolutely have to.... but then again I'd probably just walk to Walmart and get some microwaveable bullshit in a box because it would probably taste better. read more

Possibly the worst place I ever ate at. A lot of the food was dry or not tasty. The cheapest Chinese food of any restaurant I have been to. The floor is sticky where you get your food and plates (entire buffet area. The napkin holder on the table looks like they cleaned it maybe 3 years ago. Dirty and finger prints all over the top. The carpet was especially dirty and had a funky smell. The carpet at my booth and other areas have crumbs and are just plain nasty. This place is in need of some serious cleaning. The waitress brought a cup of water, not sure if she knew any english and was a Zombie to us. Absolutely zero customer service skills. Not friendly or inviting and looks like she can't wait to go home. The lady working in the buffet area is another walking Zombie. I asked where the rice was and she said she just filled the container. Top of the rice cooker looked dirty. She was not friendly, no smile and just somewhat rude. My stomach hurt after I ate the food. This is the first and last time I will ever eat at this place. I would never eat here again even if the food was free. read more

I am surprised that this Chinese Buffet restaurant received poor response. In my opinion, the food is above average and the location is excellent ( right behind Walmart on Lohman) and the price is ok. Maybe some Yelper did not like their service as I also sensed the "typical" Chinese attitude of some servers (no offense intended. I am just trying to mention some cultural components here such as facial expression etc) I would recommend to my friends that it is worth trying at least once. read more

Grand Buffet - Seafood section - Buffets Near Me - Las Cruces, New Mexico

This would be a last resort type of buffet. The food is decent, hit or miss if your food is hot or cold. The hospitality is mediocre, they all have attitudes and will only see you once or twice during your time there. One thing that definitely bothered me was that they have a sign the says NMSU student discount, I'm a GRAD STUDENT GETTING MY MASTERS. So when I showed my ID the lady said no sorry you're not a student it says you graduated. I told her politely, "I'm getting my Masters so I'm still a student." She replies, "but it say here you graduate." I just dropped it, I was just shocked how dumb the whole conversation was. DONT OFFER NMSU STUDENT DISCOUNTS IF YOU'RE GOING TO EXCLUDE STUDENTS GETTING THEIR MASTERS AND PH.D'S. Know the difference at least. read more

Love their soups, fresh fruits, and Sushi's great when nice lady prepares sushi Great for groups and kids ( lots of good choices) One visit they were out of my favorite soup and I mentioned to employee and she came to our table with a fresh hot bowl of soup a few minutes later ... Honestly I would give 5 stars because the food and sushi are amazing. Just I hate when people watch me eat and The Whole time me and my family were eating, there was an employee standing in the back of us watching everyone eat including us of course and it just made me to uncomfortable to eat my food. I felt so weird and awkward. I knew they were watching my every move. then I was paying for my food and I was going to get the tip money ready cause I only had like $4 in my hand and she was like "the tip the tip" asking for the tip and I was going to give more than $4 for a tip but I just gave what was in my hand cause you guys be hella unpatient. I love the food just the customer service needs to be better. read more

I went on my Birthday with family. The food was good. The only thing I wish they had real Chicken Fingers, not the ones that you get in the freezer for kids, The chicken wings were over cooked. I came for the sushi and was not disappointed. It was pretty tasty and it was made fresh buy a sushi chef. The layout of the food looked pretty good. I tried a couple other things like the soups were good. I tried the orange chicken and enjoyed it.The food was fresh because we got there when they changed it for lunch. It's easy to overeat. I would have given them a 5 star but they use MSG read more

Decided to try out since we just arrived in town for event and it was right next to hotel. Not the best/worst buffet I've been to. The waitress was attentive. Fairly good chance you'll find something you enjoy with the selection. Mine turned out to be the beef/broccoli after a fresh batch came out. The fruit seemed fresh as well. Agree with a previous yelper, the 5 star reviews and yelpers with only 1 review all around the same date/time does seem very suspicious. Good if you're in a pinch, but a little bit on the pricier side than what I thought it was worth. read more

Not sure why there's so many negative reviews? I've only been here once last month as I was driving through NM to get back home to CA & I can honestly say this place was the best Chinese buffet I've ever been to. I went on a Saturday night and all the food that came out was fresh. Nothing tasted like it was sitting out for a long time, which is what I'm used to at buffets. I loved the sushi here because they make it right in front of you. My boyfriend and I still talk about how good this buffet was so it's very surprising to me to see such a low rating. read more

Good selection and a lot of food for the money. However I have never been to a Chinese buffet that does not load with MSG. This is a potent preservative thank you Monsanto but most likely as most of their products a neurotoxin. read more

This was the first time eating at Grand Buffet and for that matter in the building that used to be another establishment. First of all, I agree with a former review, things could have been better labeled. The Lo Mein was delicious by itself, even improved with addition of Mongolian Pork. Some items were good, and some others were edible, but not tasty (mac-n- cheese, and egg rolls). I usually like rice pudding but the dessert here was way too sweet for my taste buds. Table service was very good. read more

Went for dinner Friday night around 8pm. Seemed like a good selection. Loaded a plate or two and immediatly noticed the food was not hot. Warm at best. That cut out half the food on my plate. The other half was either super salty or super sweet. Weird So round 2 i go for sushi. I have never in my life been looked at as crazy as I was by the female sushi chef. Then mid looking at me crazy she yaps chinese smack to other worker. (You know when someones talking smack) ok. No more sushi for me. So i went to the crab and oysters. The crab was dingy looking and a bit suspect but i gave it a go. It was soggy. I have never had soggy crab before but never again. The oysters were good though. The table service was good to. Thats about it. Oysters and drink refills. I wouldnt go for anything else read more

Wow! Such mixed reviews but you see that a lot at Chinese buffets. On this day all of the food items that we tried, all seemed fresh and was hot. Most very tasty. The greeter wasn't very friendly and the server didn't pick up plates very quickly but that was minor. The restaurant was clean. We would go back again. read more

Not a bad place to eat for Chinese buffet. At least they don't put celery on every dish( what's with Las Cruces Chinese restaurants putting celery on everything). Price is about $10ish for adult price ( buffet + one soft drink) compared with other Chinese food in the area is above average price. For what is worth and what is around the area is not a bad place to eat. read more

If you want to pay a lot for mediocre food and no drink refills this is the place to be!

Please understand that anyone who rated this place above 2 stars has NO idea how Chinese food is supposed to taste. The food was unappealing, it was far from fresh, and much of it smelled like wet dog. I found it nearly impossible to sit through my meal. I left the restaurant in search of other places to eat. Save your $14 and buy something edible. I wish I would have. read more

This business has changed hands in the last year or so, and not for the better. It's now called Asian Buffet. It's been newly redecorated, and the interior looks nice, but oh my, the food appeared to look good in the trays, but looks can be deceiving. We ate there late afternoon, December 17, 2018, and were looking forward to enjoying the food the way it used to be, but left bitterly disappointed and still hungry. Every single thing we tried on the menu was just worse than lackluster, it was just flat awful. My guess is this buffet will self destruct before long unless they make some major changes to the quality of cooking. The $30 we spent, $12 per person and for two drinks was a waste of money. We won't be back. read more

worst food i have ever seen, just the sight of the food was repulsing I could not even imagine putting this "food" into my mouth.
