Custom Relocations Moving Company was hired to do a household move from Chapel Hill to…read moreFayetteville, they were given the keys to my home to do a walk-through while we were on the phone with them so that we could get a verbal quote before paying them nearly $1,300.00. We also left a very detailed letter in the home explaining exactly what was to come to Fayetteville, mind you that all the boxes had been labeled and only a very small amount of furniture was coming.
We had never hired movers before and even helped carry some of the items throughout the house. It wasn't until they left that we noticed we were missing items ...many items. Come to find out, when my previous landlord did the walk-through to look for damages, she found the house a MESS! They had gone through boxes, never brought any of the items from either the shed or the crawl space (which WAS INCLUDED IN THE QUOTE), as it was only a 2 BR APT, and one BR was utilized as an office. We immediately contacted them and they apologized, saying it was an accident and that they would go back to retrieve the items and bring them to Fayetteville. They never showed up. Now they will not answer any phone calls or texts from either myself or my case manager (I am disabled). As the days go on, I am finding more items missing, including items that were my Grandparents and all of my items from my Daughter's childhood (photos, baby book, etc.) !
I am beyond heartbroken at this point, the money is bad enough but to know that I will never get those items back again (my previous landlord did not know what they were, assumed I had trashed the place, left a bunch of items that I didn't want and so she threw them out).
Now, I am left with only the memories I have of my Daughter in my head, also my Grandparents. It is very sad that people take advantage of you like this.
