I was waiting for my flight at the airport, and I decided to get a late lunch. Wow Cafe is the only restaurant at the BTR airport, so I thought I'd give it a try since I had time before my flight. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and a fountain drink. It was $14, which thought it was kinda pricey for just a wrap and drink. The airport was busy and a lot of people were placing orders, so I didn't get my order right away. But, I really didn't wait too long...maybe 10 minutes. There were tons of places to sit, and I could keep refilling my fountain drink. The wrap was delicious! It didn't come with fries or anything, and I glad it didn't because I wouldn't have been able to finish it. It was nice and warm and everything was well cooked. I would get again! read more

Food was okay. My biggest complaint was the server was not happy to be at work. All i ordered was a burger which the menu says: $10.99 but my receipt said "crescent city" for $11.99. I was charged a total of $13.25 after taxes. It wasn't enough for me to go back and complain about it and i didnt notice the discrepancy until after i was up by security. First, I want to say that BTR is the cleanest airport I've ever been in! For being so tiny and semi-dated, I was so impressed with this! I got a surprisingly phenomenal fried chicken sandwich. I was expecting something very "meh" but was indeed "wow"-ed! I ordered a side of fries and the Polynesian sauce to come with my sandwich. The fries came (and were crispy for the most part) but the sauce never did, though I got charged for it. The bar service was lacking the entire time. There were long periods where there was no staff in sight. And, to top it all off, the man and woman working the bar were having a heated tiff we could all overhear. I understand that things happen and sometimes you have to hash them out, but pretty unprofessional to carry on in front of a packed bar top. This is your only option in the airport, so if you find yourself delayed here (like I did) it's your only option for a stop, aside from the hot dog and popcorn stand. read more

Both bartenders were on their personal cell phones the whole time and customers were second priority, even if they were both kind. The food was great for airport dining- and kudos to the chef who came and delivered everyone's food himself. My advice- until they fix the service attitude, eat before the airport if you can. It's an airport restaurant (grill), and possibly the only one in the entire airport. They offered a plant based burger option which I was grateful for . The folks behind the counter were super nice and they cooked my order fresh rite after I placed it. The sweet potato waffle fries were great. This is a 3 stars for food itself, the waffle fries maybe bumping it up to 3.5 stars. However, the staff was super friendly, there was lots of roomy spots to sit, the plant based burger option, and I could literally see my gate from my booth. I had the chicken tenders and sweet potato fries. Chicken tenders were amazing! They were big, fresh battered and fresh fried with great seasoning. Fries were standard sweet potato waffle fries, fried fresh when I ordered. I would eat here again for sure. I'd probably only order 2 tenders instead of 3. There aren't a lot of options at BTR and WOW Cafe is one of the only places to grab a bite or get something to drink. It never seems busy here, presumably because the airport is already laid back people traffic wise, but more likely because the place is lackluster as can be. The food is so mediocre that I wouldn't want to focus on ordering anything at all. Temptation got the best of me many times and I've tried more here than I'd like to personally admit. The infamous chicken biscuit is really dry and unmemorable, which is also how I'd describe most of the breakfast items. Don't shoot for the quesadillas or burgers. It's going to be a really long flight. I thought the last time I was there that I could shoot for something healthier, like their salads and / or wraps. Went for a Covington and Kentucky Club salad and was underwhelmed. Given the already spendy airport price tags, I don't think I could be more disappointed. As if it couldn't get any worse, the staff here is so inept that the wait times can get a little too long here. I've nearly missed at least two flights after waiting breakfast items. They're not exceptionally bright or friendly, which is a huge damper, since I really do believe in southern hospitality but none of that exists here. On a positive note, the place is spacious enough to accommodate all sorts of travelers. There is a lot of seating and room for things like luggage and big parties. It's not always the most well kept (sticky tables, random crawlers in dark corners, crumbs on the floor, etc.), so keep the expectations low. Lastly, they serve PJ's coffee, a New Orleans staple. I'd say more but I don't know what I should say beyond the service is awful, the food is more like a 3 star, and for crying out loud it's so limited on food choices for someone like myself who has dietary restrictions it's almost torture! If I had known that this place was the ONLY place in the airport I'd eat first before I came. All I can say is "don't get the burgers"! Frozen patties thrown on a flat griddle and cooked to barely warm. I honestly asked myself whether I should return it and ask for a more cooked one. But, if your flight diverted , as mine did, your probably standing in a heck of a line along with your fellow passengers. And the lady making the burgers is definitely giving off the vibe of "just leave me alone"! So this place is definitely not the best. But if I'm taking a sleepy 6 am flight out, their eggs on a biscuit always hits the spot. The biscuit isn't overly greasy and the eggs are done just right. When I fly out of here during the 540 frenzy of getting to the airport on time, managing client meetings, work and forgetting to eat lunch - their mozerella sticks and chicken fingers also deliver pretty well. I have also tried the veggie quesadilla and deem it pretty decent - none of their food is anything to write home about, but given the convenience and lack of other options, the place gets the job done for me. read more

Recently opened business at the airport. I'm not sure if it can be accessed before going through security. Great selection of snacks and little sliders to take on the plane. I had the Buffalo chicken roll-up with hot sauce #2 and hot sauce XIII on the side. Very good! The XIII hot sauce is pretty F'n hot! Cayenne pepper. Quick, friendly service. I ordered the Texas burger and it was just ok. The cheese on the burger was shredded cheese so it was a mess everywhere, the lettuce was awkwardly big but the bread was soft. Let's just say I'll never order a burger again. The customer is great which is why I gave the 3 stars but the food should be better especially since it's airport prices. I paid 10 dollars just for the burger.. You may want to wait until you get to your final destination. read more

Just plain bad. Zero stars if I could. Servers have no idea who ordered what. Also not sure if they are sanitary. Bartender dunks the glasses in a sink and puts them back in the cooler for the next customer. Doesn't seem very clean to me. He was pleasant, made good strong drinks, and had a calm but pleasant demeanor while helping everyone. All I gotta say is, "Wow, there are very slim dining options at the Baton Rouge Airport". This is pretty much it in the gate boarding areas. When you are tired from a long day of traveling or need a pick-me-up to get help you get movin' during an early flight, this cafe has something for you. They have a grill (if you're craving hot foods), cold sandwiches, yogurt and more. So, I know it's probably not the ideal dining situation for some, but it's there to serve a purpose and when you're desperate, you'll probably want to give them 5-stars. There is plenty of seating and tables, so if you need to take some time to work on your laptop or sit and enjoy your meal, you have a spot! The Baton Rouge airport is not very big, so I don't blame 'em for not having too many options. If you need a cocktail and want to hang out at a bar, they have it and it's open before 12noon! Adjacent to The WOW Cafe is a PJ's Coffee, so go over there for your quick fix before your flight. read more

EAT BEFORE YOU GET HERE!! Okay, I never post a bad review but this is necessary. There's one restaurant in the Baton Rouge Airport and it is horrible. So many things wrong with this place - bad food, dirty cooking area, overflowing trash cans with stuff being stacked on top and, (I bet you guessed it), employees with the enthusiasm of a root canal patient. I should've bought a couple of bags of candy at the news store and had that for dinner. It would've been healthier, definitely tasted better and if the sugar rush made me sick, that's better than the probable sickness I'll have due to food poisoning.
