Wow. Talk about a totally random literal hole in the wall. I'm not even sure how this place even exists. It's a takeout counter in the middle of a block. Don't let the dumpy look scare you off. Parking here is pretty awful. Can't really help too much. Staff are very friendly and chatty. The guy facing the counter sure seems happy. They have donairs as well as combo plates. The photos all looked good. I had the Hawaiian beef & lamb donair. Basically a wrap with nice large chunks of pineapple. Actually goes quite well with the mix. Nice generous portions of meat. This thing really hit the spot. Oh yeah, they open late on weekends (0300 as of the time of writing). This should catch the clubbing crowd quite nicely. I have a feeling I will be lightening my wallet here quite regularly going forward. Highly recommended. read more

Ran into this place as I was working in the building up top. I had not eaten all day and in desperation I did not want to walk anywhere. My boss suggested I try out the small little donair place downstairs and oh boy was I in for a surprise! I got the Large beef donair and BOY WAS IT AMAZING. Not only, was the guy incredibly nice. As he talked to me about the history of the place but he also very helpful and informative on what id like. He cut the meat right in front of me - which honestly I really liked ( I don't know about you buuuut I like to know and see what goes in my food) He put it all together in front of me. Oh man, this donair was made to perfection. All of the veggies went so well together (there was red opinion in it and I HATE RED ONION but it was INCREDIBLE in it) The meat was seasoned and cooked just right and the sauces really complimented everything it in. Not only was the portion great because it looked massive that I had to save it for later, but it also tasted AMAZING! I liked how they had seating so people could have the option to eat there or eat else. I really loved that considering the fact that I was LEGIT DE-VOU-RING the dang thing and that would of been so bad especially in front if my manager and coworkers, they'd thing I'm an animal. At one point I felt embarrassed because yes, I hadn't eaten all day, it was like 5pm and this was my first meal of the day. But also, it was SO DARN GOOD that I just wanted to to eat it all at once in one bite but also, enjoy every single bite. I'm going to lie my mouth was watering THE. WHOLE. TIME. Oh, and the owner saw THE WHOLE THING I'm pretty sure he laughed at and was super disturbed from my grunting but NO SHAME. This has got to be the best donair that I have tried so FAR and I have tried many! Prices are fare for how INCREDIBLE it tastes, you get to choose what portions you like, the staff is friendly and helpful. This place is literally the smallest, littlest - hidden gem near the heart of Gastown. Next time you are in Gastown stop by either for a late snack, out of curiously or just to check it out. Highly recommend this donair place! I've been to many donair places throughout my trip in Vancouver and nothing will beat this one. As a middle eastern, I've eaten a lot of donair in my hometown, and I've never eaten one amazing like this. Everything was perfectly made, also the worker was the nicest person you'll ever meet. Throughout my trip I realized how much restaurant workers were so cold and distant, but this one was the friendliest person. He was so welcoming and patient because I was so indecisive! He recommended places in the city and I had so much fun talking with him! I will definitely come back if I ever have another trip back to Vancouver and meanwhile I'm definitely recommend to everyone! On the first day (15/6) of my Canada vacation I passed by this shop and didn't notice they already closed at 6pm and I was there at 6:30, but the owner was so nice that he still accepted my order. I had togo the mix beef and lamp donair, it was really delicious even I kept it until the next day. After heating up the taste was still good so I kind of regret not have a bite before put it in the fridge. If I ever go Gas Town again I will visit this place again. read more

Probably the prettiest shwarma I've ever had! $8.50 for large chicken shwarma. I wouldn't really consider it a large but it was JUST enough (or maybe I have a larger than average appetite, hmmm...) It comes with lettuce, tomato, onions and a bit of tabouli. They offer those pink pickled radishes at no extra cost but only by request. The wrap itself was a bit thin and I had some problems keeping all the insides on the inside, but that really only means it was loaded with delicious filling. The chicken had excellent flavour and was juicy on the inside with a bit of crisp on the outside - awesome! Was really looking forward to a donair, tried this place because it was so close to work. Ordered a large beef/lamb donair with extra meat for $13.50, portion comes out smaller and weighing less than a normal regular sized donair elsewhere. I think for the extra meat they just put a few pieces on top. The meat was room temperature and extremely soft, not grilled at all, texture was so soft it reminded me of cat food. You could eat it without teeth. Donair was rolled loosely and pita not grilled either. Started to fall apart after 2 bites, I gave it to a homeless guy and went to another nearby donair shop. Maybe their chicken is better. 2 stars because it technically was a donair, and I didn't get food poisoning. read more

Both the chicken and the beef donair are seasoned and cooked to perfection - juicy meat but with crispy bits throughout the wrap. This place isn't exactly a classy eatery, it's just a booth with a couple of tables on the street, but the food is good, the portions are generous and it's extremely good value. Shawarma wrap for 6$? I love this little shack!! It's the perfect, quick, after-work meal when you are too hungry to wait and walk back home. You can smell the shawarma a block away and it makes my mouth water every time. Nearly every wrap I've had has been awesome. I love the chicken, the sauces, all the fresh veggies.... very filling for the great price point of $8 (for large). As I write this, I'm drooling... This little place is literally a hole in the wall on Water St. I worked in the area for 10 months and didn't notice it until now. No matter--my last favourite donair joint was also a hole in the wall downtown. I thought this place would be a hidden gem--NOT! I ordered two of their "$5 donair", thinking it would be nice and filling. What I got was two cold wraps, with a smidgen of cold meat in both. Lots of lettuce and a bit of tomato. Not nearly enough sauce. The thing was dry and difficult to eat. To top it off, the vendor was making these wraps with his BARE HANDS! Touching the wraps, condiments, and the till. Don't know whether it was the bare hands or some other uncleanliness, but I felt queasy and very bloated for the rest of the day. I'll definitely take a pass the next time I need lunch! read more

In my rare moments of weakness, if you want a quick place to grab fast food, good and cheap, while club hopping here in Gastown.... but what I don't like is them using bare hands to make food lol...used to workers wearing plastic gloves. Like many surprising yelp journeys, it looked REALLY different than what I imagined. I thought this'd be a restaurant but the place is the size of a public bathroom. Yep, it's not even a room, it's literally a nook in the wall. However, food tastes pretty good. Same quality as those street vendor carts, though. Just more permanent and in the wall. Little cleaner, and the workers are really friendly. Gyros and donairs always taste good anyways. However I give it s 3/5 because the food had rocky sand in it :( I love donairs but this prevents me from coming back. It's REALLY unpleasant to chew sand. read more

Okay. This one hit me in the face when I was least expecting it. One day when the skytrain was broken down (yes, you all know it) after work, I was walking around listlessly like a woman in the desert hoping to find water in Gastown. It was getting late and pretending to be a tourist in my own city wasn't entertaining anymore because of growing hunger pangs. I just couldn't justify spending $20 on dinner at some ritzy touristy pub and kept walking. It was about 6:45 when I came across this literal HOLE in the wall. It was a serving hole with a counter space and some welcoming lights. I saw two Eastern European tourists, a man and woman, sitting outside on one of their patio chairs. Loitering next to them were haggard looking street people smoking and talking loudly. The woman was stuffing her face so fast I thought she'd suffocate herself. Not bad for advertising. I became interested and asked her what she had and she looked up long enough to tell me her order. I said to the guy in the hole, 'what she has'. He smiled big and went about his work. IT WAS AMAZING. It was perfect. I mean this thing was lean, mean and bang on. I don't know how exactly he had the meat flavoured or what kind of sauce he was drizzling on it, hot sauce and some kind of mayonaise dressing. It was on a bed of fresh lettuce and pure meat from heaven. GO HERE. Be prepared to stand and eat as seating is limited and who knows who's loitering nearby. The prices aren't cheap. This guy knows he can milk it. For the bed of lettuce and meat, it was about $10. For extra meat, it's another $2.50 or $3. It's way better than the touristy pubs. read more

I make it to the end of the work day, and see World Wrap Place like a desert hiker seeing a mirage, but this was real! I ordered a falafel wrap from the friendly gentleman at the counter, digging through my coin purse for the $6.85 (cash and interact only). 3 minutes later, my wrap was ready - warm, flavourful, and with fresh falafel goodness. Not only is the customer service amazing, the chicken and the beef wraps are SO DELICIOUS I eat there every week. They even have baclava (spelling??) which is a tasty, flaky dessert which I get in 4's or 6's to take home and share with my hubby. You can have the wrap anyway you like (I like mine without onions and hot sauce, but with extra tzatziki and donair sauce) and they are super fast and made well (fast if there is no line up, which there usually is because this place is amazing.) During the recent trip to the BC exploring the gastown area we came across this small place squeezed between the shops and the nite club. We tried the falafal and the chicken wrap and was amazed with the taste and quality of the food. The hot sauce had the perfect blend of the sweetness and chilly. Unlike the other review the falafal we got werent dry and tasted good. The chicken was juicy and warm. The pita was also soft. Its in BC i have seen that they open the pita and put the filling inside may be that adds to the taste. In short we all liked the place. The location is good have a quick bite and hit the clubs :) read more
