This is amazing, my mouth is so watery
    Manuela G.

Ran into this place as I was working in the building up top. I had not eaten all day and in desperation I did not want to walk anywhere. My boss suggested I try out the small little donair place downstairs and oh boy was I in for a surprise! I got the Large beef donair and BOY WAS IT AMAZING. Not only, was the guy incredibly nice. As he talked to me about the history of the place but he also very helpful and informative on what id like. He cut the meat right in front of me - which honestly I really liked ( I don't know about you buuuut I like to know and see what goes in my food) He put it all together in front of me. Oh man, this donair was made to perfection. All of the veggies went so well together (there was red opinion in it and I HATE RED ONION but it was INCREDIBLE in it) The meat was seasoned and cooked just right and the sauces really complimented everything it in. Not only was the portion great because it looked massive that I had to save it for later, but it also tasted AMAZING! I liked how they had seating so people could have the option to eat there or eat else. I really loved that considering the fact that I was LEGIT DE-VOU-RING the dang thing and that would of been so bad especially in front if my manager and coworkers, they'd thing I'm an animal. At one point I felt embarrassed because yes, I hadn't eaten all day, it was like 5pm and this was my first meal of the day. But also, it was SO DARN GOOD that I just wanted to to eat it all at once in one bite but also, enjoy every single bite. I'm going to lie my mouth was watering THE. WHOLE. TIME. Oh, and the owner saw THE WHOLE THING I'm pretty sure he laughed at and was super disturbed from my grunting but NO SHAME. This has got to be the best donair that I have tried so FAR and I have tried many! Prices are fare for how INCREDIBLE it tastes, you get to choose what portions you like, the staff is friendly and helpful. This place is literally the smallest, littlest - hidden gem near the heart of Gastown. Next time you are in Gastown stop by either for a late snack, out of curiously or just to check it out. You cannot be in Gastown or say that youve visited Gastown and not have given this place a try! And when they do reopen I will be one of the first there!

    Large chicken wrap $8.50
    Jennie Y.

Probably the prettiest shwarma I've ever had! $8.50 for large chicken shwarma. I wouldn't really consider it a large but it was JUST enough (or maybe I have a larger than average appetite, hmmm...) It comes with lettuce, tomato, onions and a bit of tabouli. They offer those pink pickled radishes at no extra cost but only by request. The wrap itself was a bit thin and I had some problems keeping all the insides on the inside, but that really only means it was loaded with delicious filling. The chicken had excellent flavour and was juicy on the inside with a bit of crisp on the outside - awesome! A literal hole in the wall, this place is next to the Rain nightclub and serves up some pretty delicious chicken shwarmas with friendly and quick service.

Definitely try to go at opening or when it is not busy, as the dine-in experience is memorable - they place your order in a long wooden board to make it a beautiful spread. We got the Manoush'eh Special which has ground beef, pomegranate, etc and Sham Style which is shaped like a boat. We also tried the yogurt drink which pairs well with the dishes. The only con is that this place does not have free water, but it is no problem to have our own water bottles supplementing the meal. We also got the lentil soup which is pretty good. Definitely sufficient to share one to try, but the Manoush'eh outshines the rest of the items. I loved the quality and texture of the Manoush'eh and just the breads in general. It is a lot of food for 2 people so if you want a snack, you can definitely just share 1. Some people go here for the wraps too. Overall, an affordable restaurant with good food. We got the most expensive items and it was less than 50 CAD all-in, but a lot of the items are around the 10 CAD mark.

Then they told us they had run out and would serve us Costco pita. Upon leaving we saw people with Lebanese pita. A group spending 1600 getting shafted on pita. Not cool and super cheap. My wife and I came here for our anniversary dinner and we were delighted. We ordered the Chefs Special Sampler for 2 - basically giving us a sampler of everything on the menu for $90 per person. We were really really full and couldn't finish it all. Highlights: - Chickpea Fetteh: warm delightful mixture of ground meat, chickpea sauce, with soaked pita at the bottom and crispy stuff in it. It just explodes with flavour and texture. - dip sampler: the hummus and eggplant mutabbah were really good but that pocket pita bread was out of this world good. Even the tabbouleh was good and my wife normally hates that. - the lamb tartare was AMAZING. It was kneaded so soft that it was practically a paste. When you combine it with the nuts and red spicy sauce and eat it with bread the combo is winning. - grilled Kibbeh and regular kibbeh - both really delightful - the grilled meat plate was great. In particular the chicken with the garlic tahini was really flavourful. The kabob mushrooms and peppers on top of smoked baba ganoush was soo good. Loved the smoke flavour. They finished by serving us baklava sampler which was all really good. From start to finish this is an experience for the ages.

We were greeted with a warm embrace and a comforting welcome drink of chai tea paired with delicious finger foods. The Dine-Out menu was impressively extensive. We felt like kids in a candy store, eager to explore the vibrant, exotic flavours. The mango-infused dishes were a standout! The service was impeccable. One server even followed us outside just to hand us cardamom cookies for the road. Many restaurants treat Dine Out as a budget-set menu, but East is East used it to truly showcase their best work. We left with new favorites and a plan to return very soon.
