I'm telling you... Cost Plus World Market is where it's at for discounts in February! This weekend they are having their 50% off red tag clearance sale, which essentially means customers stand a chance of getting deeply discounted products. (50% off products that were already 50% off!) The store is well organized, and what's great is that every store shares the same layout and merchandising. I visited two stores today and knew exactly where to find what I was looking for. I really appreciate this consistency. I walked away with so many great finds today that will serve me well throughout the year as last-minute gift ideas for friends and family. The manager at this location is horrible. Rude and condescending woman. I bought a $5 candle for a friend which smelt fine almost subtle in the store. However once it started burning it smelt like a dirty gym sock which defeats the purpose of the product entirely since it is supposed to give off a delightful aroma as its sole purpose. I tried to exchange it and was denied. I told them to keep the candle and recycle it. I've spent thousands of dollars here and never asked for a return except for this item which did not function for its intended purpose. The way you treat your customers will make you lose your business. Your business cannot survive without your customers and how you talk to people matters. Good luck in 2026. read more

Bizarre behavior from the employees. The woman ringing me up tried to take a discreet photo of me--while I was bagging my OWN items because she couldn't be bothered (thanks for that by the way). I'm assuming she didn't think I noticed--I did. One of the women in the back commented about my coat being large. I think it's really been 9 years since I have been here, so I just started going back in this past holiday season- I was able to do a lot of holiday shopping for every age group. I found the selection was well stocked, lots of unique stocking stuffers from forest scented Soaps to cat butt magnets. Prices are more reasonable with their coupons you get when signing up for the rewards app- I always had 20% off my purchase. Their curbside is little slow but they were busy so it's not something I gave much complaint time too. Will definitely go back. read more

How did I come to write a positive review of what is possibly the most surburbanite place I've ever been in? Not one of the NSFW (at best) adjectives my friends and acquaintances would use on/against me would apply to Cost Plus World Market. So what gives? Well, it's a pretty awesome place. The food section alone is mind blowing. There's Japanese candy and English seasonings (shepherd's pie mix, woo hoo!) and some of the questionable stuff the Germans are getting up, or maybe down, to. I mean, currywurst sounds like a disease or something you might catch a disease from doing. But anyhoo. CPWM also has some bad ass furniture. I know, me either! There was a secretary desk I would have walked out with if A) we'd had a bigger vehicle or B) there had been any way I could think of to accommodate a monitor on it. Still, what a desk. There were tons of other great desks and generally cool things to lounge upon. Also, cheap toy section. Keep your 5 to 12 year olds in mind or body away from there or you'll be in financial distress. This is only the right-hand side of the store. I don't know when I'll be back in Gresham, but whenever that is I'm exploring the other side and have no doubt it'll be as four stars as what I've seen. We have been coming here for a long time and used to love shopping at this location. Located in the Gresham Station Shopping center, there is ample parking and lots of good shops to browse from. This store has moderate pricing on furniture and a good wine selection. We bought our dining table, bench and chairs here when we first moved into Gresham. And still love the pieces we picked out. The last time we visited we needed a chair to replace one that fell apart. We picked out a piece and had the cashier call somebody to bring us the piece selected from the back room. Before leaving I asked the lady if there was any additional pieces we needed as she gave us the back piece of the chair and a box with the remaining pieces. She assured us that we had all we needed. When we got home I found that the chair was missing 2 legs. I called the store and they told me the salesperson simply forgot you give me the additional pieces that I was missing. There was no apology or an empty shown. When I got to the store I spoke with the manager who apologized but she indicted there wasn't anything she could do. Her excuse was that we were very busy today and that she's short but she couldn't do anything I make it right. I explained to her that I wasted 45 minutes drink to the store and back having to pick up the pieces that they forgot to give me. Again she reiterated her point that she would not be able to do anything for me. This experience has left me frustrated and feeling unappreciated as a customer. Suffice it to say I will NOT be shopping here again. read more

Love that I can get close out wines, buy Sake and beer and pick up some imported grocery items as well. Wines: They have both local and imported wines that are priced well. They have wine reviews posted on a lot of bottles for more info on the flavors in the wine as well. They also carry a lot of the bubbly!!!!! Sake and Beer: Have lots of imported beer from all the world and a decent selection of sake. Tea and Coffee: one of the best places to buy....huge selection and they have a grinder on site as well. Groceries: Love that they have hard to find pastas, sauces, and a huge spice selection. Also have a great foreign candy and cookie section. Other: They have a lot of dishware and glassware, furniture, and knickknack stuff. Most of it very nice and affordable. Seasonal things go on sale regularly. Absolutely love World Market. Love that they have Tim Tams (my partners nostalgic favorite from Fiji/Australia), and all sorts of delicious goodies from around the world. I love the halva. Their décor adorns many corners of our home. We just purchased the big circle bookcase to sit in our kitchen by the sliding glass door for both cook books and liquor storage (and the few nice looking appliances w have). We will be purchasing that gorgeous gavin cafeteria table next month and I can't even explain how exciting that is for us. My partner drags her heels about coming in here with me, not because she doesn't adore this place, but because there's always so many things we want to buy! Their staff is EXTREMELY helpful- we bought that bookcase recently, and found that we had picked up two sets of shelves instead of the box that had the frame in it and a box of the shelves. (two "1 of 2" boxes). We lost our receipt, but when we called them a week later (when our handyman discovered the error) they quickly exchange the pieces without question, and carried it out to our car to load it for us. This one star is for the jerk that when I told him I wanted to use a coupon I had he asked me to type in my phone number and since I wasent in the system or a member I couldn't use it. Complete bullshit after asking me where and how I had gotten the coupon. I told him from my coupon app which led me directly to the stores website where it was posted. He said that was illegal ! Oh lord please don't take me to jail over a freaking coupon that was legit. To the store manager please hire more People that give a damn about their job and are happy to deal with customers and can actually greet them too! read more

SNACKS. Oh my goodness. I visit Cost Plus to stock up on all the fun yummy things I can't seem to get anywhere else, like marzipan pigs during Christmastime, or chocolate hippos! They have a fantastic beer and wine selection (my husband and I are partial to the Belgian beer mixed packs), and everyone is super friendly and helpful. I also highly recommend their customer rewards program; so far I haven't found any reason why anyone that enjoys the store should go without it. Lots of awesome coupons, very few obnoxious emails (always a deal-breaker for me), and a double-punch coffee purchase on Wednesdays. Yay! read more

I came in this evening because I had a question regarding my receipt from the previous day. Online it showed that I had a 30% discount. However, when I checked out I didn't see that the coupon had been applied and came in to see if they be able to help. Domingo was gracious in explaining that coupons are a bar code that should have been scanned in order for it to be applied and was able set me up via text to get the coupons in the future. As far as my transaction from yesterday he called the manager Julie over to see if she be able to do anything with last night transaction to get the 30% applied. She quickly said no and mentioned this was online only and she can't do anything about it. I then asked even when it's an online order to pick up in store and she quickly responded with a no. I did not appreciate her approach to my simple question nor the fact that she seemed annoyed for being called over and her unwillingness to help!! Yes I know that even if it says "WORLD" it's not really.. mostly it should say Cost Plus China Market but there are some things from India as an example. Good selection of coffee...they also have a customer loyalty program, 6 bags to get one free, I think. I was actually about ready to leave but her offer was tempting. I stayed and listened to my options about holding the item so I could go home and sleep on it. I had a problem so I called the store and discussed it. The man said to come in and they would honor my gold bell reward that was expired. I told them the day I received it I bought not quite the amt that it was so just paid for it thinking I would come back another day and use my coupon as I had to hurry to an appt. When it was awarded I was not told I had to use it that day. I asked the man on the phone his name and went directly to the store. I told them a Mike had talked to me and told me it would be honored. They treated me like I was a criminal trying to get away with something. One said to the other " has it already been used?" Then they told me they didn't have a Mike that worked at their store. Well, I checked my phone and it was their store that I called and I know that the man said his name was Mike. They also told me the person issuing the reward "always" tells the person getting it that it must be used that day. If so, don't you think that person would use it that day? After the transaction the man told the cashier to cut the coupon up good so it couldn't be used again. Gee, nothing like making a customer fee like a criminal for a $20 award as they buy something for $30. read more

Worst customer service ever. After the helpful Portland staff had Gresham hold an item for us and we made the thirty five minute drive, the unhelpful Gresham staff acted like they had no idea what we were talking about. Wait--oh, right, they did talk to the Portland store but never said they had that item in stock or would hold the item. A honest explanation, like we goofed when we confirmed we had that model or another sales associate sold it would have been acceptable. But to defensively declaim any responsibility and be combative on top of it was unacceptable. I get retail is an oft thankless and low paying job. But we would've never even darkened your door had you not made the promise to hold an item for us. After spending over a hundred dollars that day at the Portland store and wanting to spend an additional two hundred, it was reasonable for us to expect more transparency. The Portland store was willing to ship the item from another region, but at that point we pretty much decided we never wanted to shop there again. read more

I debated weather to post this or not, as I would normally just not shop at a business again. I have been a repeat customer of this store for years. The workers are always friendly and make sure you are taken care of either there or another store. I happened to come in today for some goodies and a free gift. The lines were somewhat longer then usual but were moving pretty quickly as they had 3 cashiers. My mother and I were next in line and began moving up to the counter when we were told we needed to move back into line because (she) the cashier was leaving to her break and I could go to the next open register. Well that cashier had already called for another customer to come over. So there we were awkwardly standing there now with no where to go. Number one I was put off at the fact that she would walk away seeing as thought there was at least 7-8 more people waiting and the other to cashiers were busy ringing up people. Would it of killed her to help with the line? This is not the first time I have come across this employee. To which I normally avoid like the plague because of her lack of customer service skills. She is a middle aged lady with grey hair and acts as though she is not happy with being there or having to help customers. I now know to not have contact with her or engage. I frequent this place since its opening day. It was an AMAZING shop, something Gresham had never seen before. Items and alcohol around the world, furniture made in India and Japan...beautiful things that you couldn't find anywhere else. I spent so many days wandering around with no intention of buying, just to see the things they had. They have so many nice things but they're SO expensive. If you're buying anything, don't expect to pay under twenty. I do see occasional sales that make the items somewhat reasonable, but geesh, the prices are whack if you're looking for anything remotely large or nice. read more
