It was a different life though back then... It's funny masks are a way of life now, and nobody questions them anymore, at least in the greater Portland area. This store is great if you want to get some good products at reduced prices, but there are definitely some cons. I think most importantly during the COVID-19 pandemic we have going on right now, it should be noted that this location has let the public use their restrooms. That's a small thing to some but it also puts the employees at risk as well as customers. There are a lot of really good products such as fancy cheeses at good prices, but the normal sliced cheeses and most of, if not all of the dairy is much more expensive than Fred Meyer. Overall the store has some serious gems and I'm still happy to stop in here for a good product or two, but there are some notable setbacks in my product selection decisions. Also, there definitely has been a review by a current manager on this Yelp, which I thought was hilarious. Make it your one-stop shop before heading to your regular grocers, definitely. But don't forget, get things fast before they're gone. read more

I go to this location quite often weekly it is the cleanest one and I usually never have issue I get in and I get out and the employees are friendly. However yesterday when I went in to the store midday to grab a few things when checking out I had this older woman cashier and she thought it was appropriate to make comments about my makeup specifically my eyelashes to my younger sister and telling her I'm surprised you haven't gotten into that "mess yet or the crazy long nails" which neither of us had fake nails so at this point we knew she was trying to offend us and call us ghetto without saying it. She thought she was being so clever about it too and that we were too stupid to understand what she had said. After this incident I will no longer be coming here for my weekly grocery trips it was completely not okay! And I recommend no other poc come to this location as well unless you want to be treated poorly by their staff. read more

I moved out to Gresham a few months ago, this spot is close by and is the best for my family shopping wise. My four year old adores the little shopping carts that she can 'shop' with next to me. This evening, being a Friday and busy, there weren't any little shopping carts left. My kiddo was having a hard day already, so this left her upset. Just when I thought all hope was lost, the amazing Skyler comes through the doors with a kid's cart and says that he heard how sad she was and he hunted one down. Skyler, as a fellow grocery store worker, your customer service was out of this world and you saved the day 100000%. Thanks bro. read more

I use to love this grocery outlet, but then the owners sold it and things began to change. Today I stopped in to pick up. Few things. At the checkout my Tart Cherry juice came up at $4.99, the price on the shelf was $3.99. I asked to have the price changed but the manager Kelli said she couldn't change the price because her scanner said the item was $4.99 and that the tag was wrong and the UPC code didn't match. In order to read the tag I would have had to kneel on the floor and read a font of about 5 (very small print) and I am not as agile as I use to be and my eyesight isn't as good either. While I was waiting to see if she would change the price I was told this exact thing had happened a few days earlier and that manager honored the price. What is concerning is the store management knew there was a significant pricing issue but failed to correct it and continued mislead customers hoping their customers didn't notice. I believe this criminal behavior. Check your receipts! read more

It was 8:15 am on a Friday morning. I was one of 5 customers in the building. There were no children in the building. When I entered the store, there were no shopping carts available at the front door. I saw the small shopping carts that have a flag saying, "Shopper in Training." I thought that was cute and I could make it work. So I grabbed the cart and started shopping. I was kind of enjoying pushing it around. My cart had multiple items in it when I was approached by a clerk telling me to switch to a bigger cart. The clerk stated the cart I was using was for kids. I asked if that meant I wasn't allowed to use it and stated that I like this cart. She seemed frustrated and stated, "Fine." And walked off. I kept shopping. While I was looking at the bananas, a different clerk told me the cart I was using was only for kids. She insisted I go get a bigger cart. I asked if I was causing any harm. I noted there were no kids in the store, so it's not like I was preventing a kid from using the cart. She restated the cart was only for kids. She suggested she could get a cart for me. I responded that it wasn't necessary; I would just leave without making a purchase. While leaving, I explained the situation to two clerks in the front. They were not surprised by their fellow clerks confronting me and stated they could get me a cart. I simply restated that won't be necessary. I would no longer be a customer there. It is unfortunate because this market is close to my work and I often go here. This is clearly a "Their house; their rules" kinda thing. So I don't have to like it, but I also don't have to shop there. I will no go to other available markets in the area that don't harass their customers who are causing no harm to anyone and just minding their own business. read more

Grocery Outlet is really a unique animal because you cannot quite define what they sell on any given day. I was in there recently and their organic section (yes they have one) is full of chia seeds, quinoa and even.... get this.. Freekeh. Freekeh is one of those will-create-peace-in-the-world and make-you-younger ancient grains. In other sections you might find these wonderful bad-for-you Smores cupcake mixes! These outlets give random a run for your money and are also very entertaining as you head down each aisle looking for that special something. I found an Oregon pinot noir for less than half the price of what it would normally cost anywhere else. read more

If you love organic food, but hate paying the high prices, go to a Grocery outlet. Every Grocery Outlet is different, but the one in Gresham has a great variety of organic foods you can buy at half the price of a regular grocery store. They offer name brand organic and natural dairy products such as cheeses, yogurts and milk. They even have dairy alternatives such as soy cheese, rice milk and soy milk for .99 cents. Organic cereals such as Canadian farms for only $1.99 or a big box of Kashi cereal for half of what you'd pay at Fred Meyers of Whole foods. Organic chips, sourdough pretzels, and Dagoba organic chocolates for .99cents. Grocery Outlet also has organic canned goods and a Frozen section with some organic products like vegetarian egg rolls or a box of Annie's' veggie lasagna for only $2.49. They also offer non-organic products, such as Ben and Jerry's ice cream for $1.29. If your wondering why they can sell these product so cheap, it's because their products expiration date is usually with in a month or 2. Sometimes however, you may find a product's expiration date is with in a few days, so remember to always check the expiration date. Also, their products change every week. A product that you may buy one week may not necessarily be their the next time you go. BUT...they ALWAYS have Organic and Natural products available, just not the same label kind. I usually end up spending $ 50.00 and have a savings of over $100.00. One more thing to add. Grocery outlet has a nice wine and beer selection for half price. read more

I've lovingly renamed that establishment "The Used Food Store". SImply because you do really have to watch the expiration dates on the edible items you purchase here. That being said they have prices that can't be beat. Great place to buy shampoo, lotions, wine, and frozen foods. I've also found random items on closeout that are great deals and also very random.....electronics, garden items etc. This is not a place to do all your grocery shopping....but if you're on a budget it's worth the trip. read more

Customer service is lacking. An employee named Aahlivia blocked me from getting in over 5 minutes before closing when I came to get 1 item. I came here for the first time, as I hung a right on Division from 202nd, nary two miles hence from my journey from work to home. I saw the poor sod holding the "mattress mattress!" sign first, then the Grocery Outlet sign, and swerved into the parking lot on pure impulse... AND PURE ADRENALINE! Half-naked men on bicycles with homemade tats swooned back and forth across the road like extras from Breaking Bad. THIS. IS. ROCKWOOD. Yo, don't knock the Rock, baby! I've been a Fred Meyer shopper, mostly from pure laziness, ever since moving out here. I mean, they have everything, right? I wasn't expecting much from this place, maybe a few canned goods we might need, maybe a box of e-z mac or something. As soon as I scoped out the store I was in CANDYLAND. The meats and produce--including fresh lamb--were 60% less than what I'd been paying at FM. The staff here are warm, helpful and eager to please. The place wasn't a madhouse like FM,--full of frantic souls rushing hither and yon as though the apocalypse has drawn nigh. And parking was easy peasy...nice n' squeezy. What good instincts, I've got! How fortunate I am! I've never been so excited to buy food. I even found cut-cost herbs to plant for my little garden. The only thing I did not find bargain basement bargains on was beer I liked, but hey, that's okay. I expected to find next to nothing I needed here, and instead i found an oasis of good food--nectar, mana, golden nougat, destiny's egg--for myself and my withered pocket book. read more

I just love this place. I'm hooked. They have a rotating stock plus a few staples they seem to keep on hand most of the time. I found the best Jamaican style beef patties here, they have organic maple syrup and flax milk, just weird specific stuff I happen to love. They've got a great selection at this store of wine and beer as well, I found my favorite there once and always check back. They'll have it again ;) Definitely worth going to especially if you live in the area. read more

I haven't been here for awhile but this place really does have great deals on food. It's kinda fun to roam the aisles because you just never know what you'll find. Also, they have dirt cheap prices on wine. My old boss used to call this place, "The Dented Meat Store". A friend and I bought a CARTLOAD of wine. I always like shopping at the Grocery Outlets - one can get many things at highly reduced prices, and sometimes they are unusual items not readily found elsewhere. Of course, they don't have everything. They deal in over-runs and surplus items, though they try to keep a reasonable selection of produce, cheese, lunchmeats, frozen and canned foods, etc. stocked. If you like something and its a bargain, then stock up on it - it may not be there next time you come. I saw "blue potato" potato chips marked down to 99 cents. I thought that was a bargain until I noticed Terra chips with italian flavor for only 50 cents a bag. I bought four, for a total of $2.00. The sales slip said I'd saved $13.96. Thats only 12.53% of the price allegedly charged elsewhere. . read more

some of my friends say "eww!" when they learn i shop at grocery outlet. i say "eww!" when i find out my friends DONT shop at grocery outlet. i like organic food. i like wine (a lot) i like natural health and beauty products. grocery outlet has all of this and so much more - at prices that are at least 50% lower than any other place i know of. oh, i also like saving money. there are some pretty creepy "salvage grocery" stores in lovely outter se portland. im a pretty tough chick and ive been less than comfortable in more than one such establishment. this location is not the biggest, or newest, nor is it in the greatest neighborhood. but its my favorite. i dont know why. i do know why i shop here before i hit up my other marketplaces though: i usually end up saving over 60% on the exact same products that i need to buy that are sold elsewhere. the store is always clean inside and out. more than ample parking. friendly employees; mostly. a few of the long-term cashiers are especially friendly and helpful. reasonable prices on vitamins and supplements. ask your cashier for the vitamin punchcard for free products! very nice selection of organic and natural foods and products. ever-changing range of products including some very high end foodstuffs at extremely low prices. some of the food is near expiration but a lot of it is just product overstocks and the like. i do not eat 80% of the type of foods they sell but ive never been dissatisfied with any of the organic products ive purchased here. great spot for wine, beer, cheese, crackers, olive and coconut oils, specialty foods, and usually carries hfcs-free jams. last time i was here there was a homeless woman taking a hoe bath in the restroom (which is located right at the registers/exit) which was ummm... interesting. she very loudly refused to leave when politely asked to by the management. just a friendly reminder of your geographical location i guess. happy shopping! read more

On my first visit, I went in to find whole bean decaf with no luck. On my way out, a checker or maybe the manager, asked me if I'd found everything I need. I told him no, that there was no decaf, whole bean or ground so thanks anyway. I was putting my things in my car when the same young man jogged up to me with a bag of San Francisco Roasters (right?) whole bean decaf, telling me he was almost 100% certain they had what I needed. He GAVE me the whole bean decaffeinated @ $5.99 for a whole pound, not for 12 ounces like every other brand. I've only made a few trips elsewhere since, mostly just for nondairy, sugar free, coffee creamer which isnt always available anywhere. I don't shop anywhere else since that great experience. It's not just the superb LOW prices but the staff in every store I've encountered are genuinely kind, concerned, energetic and happy. I shop in the Gresham store and the one in Hillsboro. Thank you for training your employees to treat people with dignity instead of disdain. That means everything. read more
