In fact we fell on hard times while our son was in the NICU and she was more then understanding and did everything she could to help us out. Addressing the mice issue, the apartments are right next to a little wooded pond area and unfortunately those areas attract mice, however I NEVER dealt with them in my apartment and neither did my next door neighbor. The issues that have been reported have been addressed and attented to swiftly. As others have stated, there are some minor issues to nitpick if you wish- you can always find something to complain about. But you know what- Portland isn't the cheapest place to live, as I'm sure we all know. So, either way you're going to be forking over heaps of many for your living arrangement. Take your pick: affordable rent, quality of life, distance from crime/methheads (you can only get 2/3.) This place is in a safe location and away from Skid Row, and the building is in prime condition with new appliances, so it checks the boxes for me. Maybe the exact coordinates of your furniture placement don't correlate with the summer equinox, but I'd choose this place over 99% of other apartments in the area.

The rent increases each year by a little - what else is new, it's happening everywhere else. The grounds have never looked better, and any time I have called for a repair in my unit, it was done professionally, and quickly. They have renovated the office area and enlarged the gym with all new equipment!!! It's quite peaceful here, and everyone is almost invisible!!! I have only seen my neighbor twice!!! Lol. If you like it quiet, and don't want to see anyone, come on over. I pay my rent on-line and have never had a problem. I like it, you probably will too.

I've lived at Scott Mountain by the Brook for over 10years, and in the past year new management has stepped in and in the last year, I've experienced nonstop noise during quiet hours, violence, and criminal behavior from the apartment below mine. I've submitted dozens of complaints and Ring recordings to management -- including video of domestic violence, drug use, prostitution, guns being pulled on people, my life being threatened on more than one occasion and open alcohol in vehicles. I've even submitted recordings of people pulling guns, threatening my life, and people committing violent acts -- and management has done absolutely nothing. Most of the time they don't respond, or they make excuses, saying "Portland is a tenant-friendly city" -- as if that justifies ignoring my rights as a tenant. The leasing office claims they enforce quiet hours, don't tolerate drugs or crime, and care about community safety -- but that's completely false. I've sent them undeniable proof of ongoing criminal activity, sometimes multiple times a week, for over a year, and the tenants responsible are still here. Oregon law (ORS § 90.322) gives tenants the right to quiet enjoyment, and Scott Mountain has completely failed to uphold this. If you're looking for a safe, quiet, and professionally managed community, this is not the place. What I've experienced here is nothing short of neglect by management, and I now have no choice but to consider legal action. Do your homework before signing a lease here. A pretty landscape can't make up for feeling unsafe in your own home every day and night.

I had a very positive overall experience with Northwood, and was especially pleased with the way…read moremanagement handled my move-out in such a way that was as stress-free as possible. Speaking of, sorry for taking so dang long to write this thing! I kept meaning to for forever and have been terribly forgetful with this (moved out at end of March). Again thank you to Carolyn and Kristin for possibly being some of the best folks to deal with when it comes to being fairly treated and just overall keeping things pleasant and enjoyable as much as they possibly can be. For example they were very friendly and my deposit was returned in full and in a timely manner (through the mail to my new address). The apartment unit itself was lovely, with modern appliances including an in-unit washer/dryer (and best of all, a gas stove) and finishes even including details like a pull-out spray in the kitchen faucet :) The lobby is gorgeous, with a wonderful, laid-back cozy library feel, should you choose to meet up with some friends there (I never quite took advantage of this very much!) The location is perfect for public transit since it's right next to a Yellow Line stop. There is also a Fred Meyer just down the street -- super convenient. And even during the summer there's the bonus of being a very short drive away from the Peninsula Park pool! One thing -- parking overall was okay, at an additional $100/month my side of the parking area personally was not completely sheltered from the elements, so if you have a car you might want to see what your options are there. It did feel safer though, and just getting to have your own spot (not worrying about finding one on the street all the time) was a very nice option to have, for sure. Again overall there were so many great things about my experience here, and I want to give another shout-out to Carolyn and Kristin for being so attentive and caring all the way through the end of my time there!

When I had an emergency and went a month with no income the landlord hooked me up with resources to pay my rent for me that month. Courtyard is well kept, mowed weekly in the summer, and all of our tenants share it and get along, we watch out for each other. Only place I could find that is affordable on SSI alone if I have to. Electric is only about 50/60 bucks a month, and my apartment is automated with a lot of electronics, Alexa, smart lights and locks etc... So that's pretty efficient too. All in all I say good luck finding anyplace better on this kind of budget. I'm 63 and live alone, this is a great spot for semi or fully retired individuals on a budget. When I was sick for a few days, no one saw me around so landlord comes up to see if I'm ok and if I need anything. This staff goes out of their way to help you feel safe, secure, and happy. This place is well cared for, including it's tenants. If you want to live in a true community come live here, you'll be welcomed. I would say the only unhappy tenants are those that get evicted for something, and it's pretty hard to get evicted from here, you'd have to be really bad or really delinquent. I've never rented, even in a house, from someone who goes out of their way to help you as much as management does here. Most reasonable place to rent from I've ever been in, really, there flexible, up front and honest, I personally couldn't ask for more, this is great little place to live!
