Big Dave's Cheesesteak and Whiz Fries
    Steve B.

The food was fabulous. My wife and I split Big Dave's Cheesesteak and whiz fries. We did have them put cheese whiz rather than American Cheese. It's cooked to order and the best one I've had in Louisville. While the food is that good, the ambiance is very casual. You eat at card tables and drinks are from styrofoam cups.

Wow wow wow. Whether you come from near or far to find it, or you happen to be in the neighborhood and stumble upon it, this place is it. I don't have a single bad thing to say, it is perfect exactly as it is. This literal little shack is simultaneously easy and hard to miss. It's teeny tiny and freestanding, but it's also a very bright purple. It is very unassuming, with its small building and adjacent picnic area. You take a look at the menu on the side of the shack, walk up to the window to place your order, and wait for them to fix it up. There's a big sign on the side that says "Best Hot Brown in the Ville" which is a bold claim seeing that I don't know that I'd ever had a hot brown that wowed me. That changed on this day. Truly the best hot brown in the city, maybe anywhere. And the portion is huge! I got some cheesesteak fries thinking it would be a side-sized portion. No, this was a whole entire meal on its own. And so delicious! Come here and come here right now. This place is awesome.

They were nice and friendly, but my cheese steak was very dry. The meat on my Philly was over cooked like beef jerky and the fries were kinda soggy. My boyfriend's Sandwich was very flavorful and juicy tho. It was really nice and clean, the paintings on the wall were dope.

Gorilla bob's grub shack is a tiny take out or outdoor patio down establishment off Terry road around the valley station portion of the city of Louisville. You pull into th parking lot and see a brightly colored small purple shack and walk up and place your order. The shack here is the only thing tiny about this place however. The portion size on the meals are massive! So a little backstory. I've been wanting to try this place all summer. Someone told me they have hands down the best Kentucky hot brown in the city. I love hot browns so I immediately added this to my to do list. I'm just never really out near Dixie Highway and Terry road area. So yesterday I was with my wife and 4 kids and mother In law helping the mother in law run some errands on Dixie Highway. It was a round lunch time so i was like "hey we can finally try gorilla bobs". Obviously based off the back story my order should be apparent to everyone. I got the hot brown. As mentioned everything here is large portions. It was also very good. Very smooth and tender and great flavor. Very filling. It lived up to the hype. It is now my favorite hot brown on the city. The rest of my family sampled the menu pretty well. My wife got a jalapeño mango chicken which she loved. My oldest daughter got a Buffalo chicken which she said was amazing and my two youngest ordered a Monster meatballs to share. All three of those are actually sub sandwiches and came served open face on a sub like breading. The youngest two couldn't finish the meatballs so I did for lunch the next day and it was slaps top notch. Very cheesy and great flavor. My mother in law got maybe the biggest Reuben sandwich I've ever seen and she ate it for lunch that day and the other half the next day and was also very impressed. The workers were very diligent and nice. Had our whole order ready in id say ten minutes or so. Not bad at all. They do have drink options that is outside the shack in a mini fridge. Mainly 20 oz popular cola brands. But they did have a few flavors of some decent sized jugs of lemonade called lady J's. I tried one of those (pink) and it was pretty good. Overall I was very impressed with this place and glad I checked it out. Massive portions that are massive or flavor and taste too. I'll absolutely come back. It will have to be on nicer days so I can dine at the outdoor covered picnic tables again. As Dixie is about a 40 min drive for me. But I'll absolutely be a repeat customer.

YUM YUM YUMMM Located: 8503 Terry Road, Louisville Ky Open: Monday-Friday 11am-8pm Saturday and Sunday 11am-4pm I absolutely love this place! Ive been supporting this place since it was in the purple shack, now he has a restaurant! The food is always fresh, hot and seasoned good. The staff and owner are very friendly as well! The staff makes the restaurant feel like home. I enjoy the vibe of the place Sooooo, I had to get three things First, I got the Philly cheesesteak with roasted peppers, onions and cheese whizz. The bread.. so soft and fresh. The steak was seasoned really good $11.99 Second, I got THE hot brown (half size): turkey on Texas toast with tomato and bacon, covered in mornay sauce and topped with cheddar cheese. I can't express how GOOD this hot brown is! Definitely a must try $9.25 Last, I got the chicken cheesesteak. Grilled chicken with roasted peppers, onions and provolone cheese. The chicken was seasoned well! $11.99 Overall, this is a must try in Louisville! 10/10 There's nothing like a great local place with amazing food!

I stumbled upon one of Louisville's best kept secrets, Gorilla Bob's. not only are they famous for their award winning Cheesesteaks stuffed from end to end with meat, The Hot Brown is delicious. If you're ever cruising through PRP, you have got to stop in and check Gorilla Bob's. Let him know you saw my review on yelp, tell him Dave Williams sent ya.

Best Philly cheese steaks in Louisville. Friendly staff, fast service. I got the big Dave, wasn't as spicy as I was hoping, but I think that's on me, next time I'll add jalapeños!

If this came out of it, it couldn't have been all that bad. What a great fusion of the two cultures. Place was super clean and comfortable. The guy at the counter was very helpful. We ordered the banh mi based on his recommendation, and I'm glad we did. I've said it before and I'll say it again...the best pho I've ever had was in Duluth, Minnesota. The best banh mi I've ever had was in a gas station in Metairie, Louisiana. Does this place measure up to those? No, but it's still five star. If I'm in Ellizabethtown, I'm stopping here.

There has been a small pub below the restaurant called " Walter's Pub" . It was not open when we arrived; but it was also a great view. There is even a large scenery binocular mounted on the deck. It was a nice sunny Thursday afternoon, so you could see the river so well. We went into the restaurant and were greeted by a display with what was hand made candy, cookies and cannoli , awesome touch. We were seated by the window giving us a constant view of the winding river. We were promptly seated and asked if we'd like any beer beverages: Crystal the waitress provided the specials of the day. We settled with the fried chicken plate and the cod plate. Drink list is fairly standard normal list ( Miller Lite, Bud Light , Coors) with a few exports "Modelo". Not many in the restaurant when arrived but customers started to increase. Food took awhile but we weren't in any hurry. The restaurant was fine up with nice easy to the eye decor. You really get the feeling of an establishment that's been here for a long time taking care of customers. Food arrived and it was a nice portion, considered is a tad higher price, you get nice sized portions. Crystal was very good and nice waitress and took care of us. A small detail but I really liked it was waitress/waitress's name was on a card in a small block of wood on the table- small but nice touch. Many people don't ask or hear their servers name so it's sweet. Chicken was nice plump breast's, nice coating and so moist as I took a bite. Very , very moist and tasty. My wife had the cod sandwich; came with nice sized 2 portioned fillets. French fries with both and not bad, crispy. I had coleslaw as a side; it was very tasty if I must say! The cod was really tasty and had a nice crust to it as well. We took to go box with 1 of each piece cod and chicken home. But I was intrigued by the cannoli; so one to go. Nice place; scenic and great people and food! Stop if you get the chance! Thank you Crystal!
