I have been wanting to go to Lasy Tron's for years but have never been able to make it during the days/hours they are open. I finally made it, and I was not disappointed. My husband and I were greeted warmly upon entering, and we sat down at one of the stools around the counter. A lot of sci-fi memorabilia is on the walls. It is a unique and cool place to go for lunch. We split the beefy chipotle chili. It was full of ground beef and was very hearty. So good! We then had the LT, and it was even split for us, which was so thoughtful and much appreciated. Very flavorful sandwich with hints of maple in the beef. We could not say no to dessert, which was the vanilla rice krispy treat. Topped with whipped cream and had chunks of rice krispy treat on the bottom. My husband and I devoured it! So happy a friend suggested this place to me today. One of the coolest little diners I've ever seen. So much cool stuff to look at and take in. From the floor to the ceilings the place was decked out in vintage toys and gadgets and cool lights as well as a galaxy ceiling! The food was just as incredible. I tried a sample of the vegan curried squash soup which was delicious. But I ended up going with a cup of the creamy cheesy potato soup to start. Lots of flavor and very creamy, delicious. Then I had the Uhura fish sandwich. I can honestly say hands down that was the best fish sandwich I have ever had, and I try the fish sandwich everywhere I go. The toasted bread with the creamy garlic jalapeño sauce was good enough to eat alone. 10/10. Also ordered the Dubai brownie to go which looks amazing but I have not tried yet, can't wait to have it later tonight! Service was fast and friendly and everything was super affordable! My SIL lives in New Albany and she talked about this place for years but we never got to go there. We finally had a chance and went there 2 days in a row! It's a small eatery with only counter seats so you might need to wait a bit but it looked like a lot of the customers we saw are regulars so they know the protocol and leave as soon as they are done eating so other customers can be seated. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. Everything we ordered was so tasty. I ordered a small bowl of one of their special soups, Chipotle Chicken w/Queso Fresco, Cilantro & Sour Cream. I regretted that I ordered a small bowl because it was so good! So I got a large bowl the next day. I wish I could take a pot of it back home! The sandwiches are big so it's enough to share. They had the caramel bread pudding as a special dessert and the caramel sauce was amazing. It's not overly sweet like most other caramel sauces, which I liked. I kept taking a spoonful of it. When we visit my SIL again, we'll definitely go there! read more

I was there in March their food,service and crew helped turn a bad day into a better one. Saturday I returned with a friend to show her the place and people that I had spoken so fondly of. We loved the food and I was surprised that they remembered me. were so very grateful that they served us while they were closing. This place was cool. I liked the style of it. It felt like a neighborly place to go. Everyone inside was nice. They specialize in wet sandwiches and I liked it. The Ripley was shredded chicken cooked in Blueberry Molasses sauce. It was sweet and savory. You get a lot for what you pay for and was frankly too much food for me. We originally went to another restaurant a few blocks away and couldn't get any service so we left and found Lady Tron's. This is a funky little corner restaurant with a lot of space themed nostalgia. The two ladies running this place are friendly and patient in explaining the menu. This is a LGBTQIA+ friendly establishment. The sandwiches are massive and tasty. They also had a pineapple upside down cake and rice krispy treat dessert but we were too full to partake. Been here many times and the food is nice, fresh, crisp and fragrant all at once. It's as if you stumbled into a twist of a fancy restaurant, your mom's kitchen and a wonderful toy store of your past. The Scully was my favorite since it's basically a dessert and lunch grilled into one cheesy cake sandwich and the Ripley tastes like a sweet berry pork salad on a toasty sloppy bun. Compared to the Ripley, however, my boyfriend's Sandwich was way better in my opinion.. It was called the Jabba like from Star Wars and there's 3 different tiers to it, one including slathering the middle with queso. Despite the stretchy description it wasn't overwhelming, in fact it was a perfect balance. Oh and their menu rotates every day as they come up with new ideas often. If you've been by the corner of Market and Bank Streets in New Albany, you can't help but notice the little dining relic from another era. Occupying the tiny 8 stool space where many a Little Chef have come and gone, Lady Tron's is certainly the most unique concept to occupy the tiny space. The most obvious difference is that the new owner (Lady Tron, herself) has tossed out the traditional red, white and chrome of the building and layered the entire structure in Sci-Fi kitsch and memorabilia. The painting on the outside looks amazing, but the inside is filled with classic posters, masks, toys, schematics and ornaments from an amazing array Sci-Fi or space-related TV show and movie from the last 60 years. Also revamped is the menu. Don't expect to find burgers and fries at this little diner. Here, the sandwich and soup get elevated to the next level, transported away from the mundane to galactic level delightfulness. Everything is made right in front of you, because there's really nowhere else to go; it is really small. Lady Tron's business partner is more than happy to talk you through all of your options as well as share the history of the building, their relationship, and basically anything else you want to talk about. He's probably the best person you could have at this tiny diner; super friendly, relaxed and talkative. All the drinks are either packaged or tap water. Chips are from a bag. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I have driven by a few times and wanted to pop in since I moved in August. today I happened to park right in front of it and decided to take a detour, and what a treat! My son loved the peanut butter sandwich and chips, she was so sweet and set us up with crayons and a coloring sheet, and even showed him his chip options. I ordered the queso which was a large enough portion to feed multiple people, especially as an appetizer. Very unique and quirky and so many cute touches, it kept me busyy the entire time just soaking up every little corner and detail I could. Most decor is space themed, so jetsons and Star Wars etc -- and even as someone who isn't a Star Wars fan (never seen it) I completely appreciated it and it had SUCH a sweet vibe. The owner was humming and singing along to retro sound effects and songs and I cannot wait to bring my family here (who ARE Star Wars fans!!) and have them experieence it also! It's pretty tiny, maybe ten stools, which is my favorite part. It's like an entire experience. It seemed there were two regulars there also enjoying lunch, who were very friendly and you could tell weRe always taken care of very well. Cheap, tasty, with a fun point of view -- love it! On a recent afternoon exploring New Albany, I finally got to try Lady Tron's. The "Lady Tron" standing in front of this diner building -- a robot with chef's hat, sandwich and toothy grin -- beckoned me in and promised a fun meal ahead. The inside of this tiny space is decked out, from the ceiling to walls, with fun sci-fi and space-themed goodies. Star Wars, E.T., Star Trek, the Jetsons, Pigs in Space -- you'll find it here. And really, this is a highlight of visiting, checking out the toys from childhood. One of my faves is a wind-up E.T. that I think I got in a Happy Meal when I was five. But on to the food. The menu is made up of fun-named sandwiches -- Ripley, Uhura, Leia, etc. -- as well as soups and munchies. I went with the special of the day, a gorgonzola grilled cheese. The bread was toasted to perfection, buttery and crunchy. And anything with gorgonzola on it makes me happy (within reason). This was pretty cheap, around $7, I believe. I wish there was some side options, though. Next time I'm going to opt for a soup as well. And the other sandwiches that I saw other diners order were hefty. The guy who was manning the register and serving up the tasty dishes was super friendly. Loved chatting with him about how the collection of fun toys in this spot came together. I haven't had so much fun at lunch in a long time! Lady Tron's is a small diner with a lot of personality. It's one of those rare, lunch counters that used to be all over America. This silver beauty sits on a central corner among the boutiques and shops of downtown New Albany. Parking can be a challenge out front, but I always find something on Bank Street. Step up into the diner and immediately sit at one of the stools at the counter. Wheelchair and walker users would probably have to sit at the picnic table out front or order carry out to enjoy at a downtown park. The standard menu is small and all the sandwiches ($7.95) are a la carte. Several, homemade soups, a featured sandwich, and sometimes a special side are also available. Vegetarian options are offered on the regular menu and in the soups. The inventive selections range from a gourmet grilled cheese to a concoction with bean soup and sausage. I went with the Uhura, a HUGE piece of tempura-battered fried fish with crispy lettuce and a scrumptious, jalapeño sauce. My lunch buddy had the Ripley, a pulled chicken in a blueberry molasses sauce topped with slaw. Both sandwiches were so enormous that neither of us needed a side. In fact, I think I'd have to share a sandwich or take soup for later. There's no way I could do both. Our server was very kind and the atmosphere is adorable. There is a vegetarian options, no vegan options, although I asked and sometimes they have vegan specials. So call ahead if you need to. What a tiny gem in downtown New Albany. I've had this bookmarked for a while and glad I had time to stop by. The server mentioned it was packed right before we came in. There are only maybe 8 seats at the counter to sit. My little guy loved the cartoon and Star Trek and Star Wars themes! There are lots of vintage toys there and it was so fun to watch my little guys identify all the memorabilia. We were greeted promptly and our food took no time! Score!! Loved the daily soup special options and loved that they allowed me to sample the ones I had in mind to order. I ordered the sausage and cabbage soup for my lunch and took the red lentil soup home for later! Also ordered the ripely sandwich, it's huge! BBQ with blueberry molasses and slaw. My little guy ordered off kids menu a grilled cheese and chips. Small bags of chips (frito lay) to choose from. They also have the water Capri sun, score! Better options than just sift drinks. Lady Tron's has been on our to-do list for some time now, but just finally made it today for a late lunch! The rumors and reviews are true! I'm not sure if I've ever had a more unique and delicious sandwich in my life. I had the LT and my first bite reminded me of a Bahn Mi. Not entirely sure what the beef is marinated in but it definitely has a hint of Vietnamese flavors. Be warned, this is a fork and knife sandwich and about half of it will be dinner tonight! The soup was a special today. Bok choy, ginger, sweet chili, and soy with pork. It was incredible as well! My wife ordered the Ripley and was wowed by her sandwich too. She also had a cup of soup and enjoyed the Southwest Chicken soup (another special). The tiny diner feel of Lady Tron's reminded me of the diners I grew up with in the North East. It's funky vibe, eccentric Sci-Fi decor, and friendly staff are just bonus reasons to go back. This might just be your favorite new lunch spot! Check it out!! read more

Not my favorite dish choice, but this was tasty, so folks who love adventurous tastes of lentil burgers, with red cabbage and a cilantro sauce just might be in heaven. As a kid who was obsessed with Space themed media stepping into Lady Tron's Diner was a very fulfilling experience. Both the server and the cook were in plain view which sparked pleasant conversations. They don't have a vast menu, their space is cramped, and the food isn't served on the finest of china. However, everything I tasted was absolutely delightful, from a Chopped Beef Sandwich to a warm bowl of Creamy Mushroom Risotto. They even have their own brand of Hot Sauce called "Java Juice"! Lady Tron's is beyond unique. My husband & I were staying at the casino near by for a few nights and happened to be driving through downtown when we stumbled on this place. The outside looks like something straight from one of the Fallout video games and with my husband and I being "nerdy" we knew we had to go inside. For any SciFi fan, you will not be disappointed. It is decked out with memorabilia, comic books, coloring books, and a psychedelic ceiling. The owner and her one waiter run the restaurant and are super personable. We went at an odd time and had the place to ourselves. We were super lucky to get to chat with them. We only wish we lived closer, because we would be regulars. The portions are out of this world (see what I did there ) so be warned! The seemingly simple menu is far from it. They use great ingredients and offer up the most unique combinations I've ever seen. They always have a few specials to choose from, on top of their regulars, and offer up some super yummy soups. We both got the mushroom soup & sandwich, mine being the LT & his the Riley. The soup was so delicious and the bread served with the sandwiches are great for dipping. The LT has maple ground beef, applewood smoked bacon, green chili queso, cream sauce, and topped with potato chips. It was super rich and decadent, I was stuffed! The Riley has pulled chicken marinated in a blueberry molasses topped with slaw-amazing! They also have a walk-up window for people on the go, perfect for lunch! I would tell everyone to go there and have spoken about this place a ton since visiting. I'm sure my husband would make the drive to New Albany every weekend if he could-it's just great. This place is quirky, just the right kind of quirky for a little counter-top-eating-only corner luncheonette. I pretty much loved everything about it. The sandwiches look like something you'd find at a much swankier restaurant - lots of unusual ingredients and combinations. When the weather is nice, there is a picnic table or two out front, but sit inside if possible because that is part of the experience. There are lots sci-fi-ish tchotchkes to appreciate inside, from Star Wars to The Jetson to Pigs in Space. You'll have to go a few times just to take it all in.
