Great little local place. You order at the counter and they bring you food out. They will clean the table for you. They have a few drink options. I had the breakfast burrito with chicken sausage. It was REALLY good. The home fries were nice and crispy. The biscuits and gravy were ok. Just not a huge fan of the sourdough. I will certainly be back!

Our favorite Sunday brunch spot. They have my favorite French toast which always hits the spot. Great service and always super friendly. They also have a bunch of pastry's that are great too.

Ok first is the service. This small shop is awesome. The people here are so very friendly. If I lived here I would be here all the time. We ordered an omelette with bacon spinach and tomato. So good incredibly fluffy and fresh tasting. My wife ordered the avocado toast with eggs. Man oh man. House made bread good amounts of avocado and two eggs on top. She may have won the ordering but it was close. Everything is fresh and tasty. You can tell they love food and it comes out in their cook of things. One last note my grandson gave me a bite of his French toast. Which had egg nog and cranberry Just stupid good stuff.

Between the delicious pastry options and no frills lattes I was very impressed. Then consider the breakfast and lunch menu and the attention to detail from staff, they truly go above and beyond. The energy is amazing and everyone works so well together. I loved the two person seating in the front room by the counter it is a real treat to see all of the pride in what you do.

Leaven Bakery is such a gem! If we lived closer, we would be frequenting regularly! We stopped in for coffee and breakfast and everyone was incredibly friendly. The breakfast burrito and sandwich were huge portions and absolutely delicious. We ordered bread and a pastry to go and were not disappointed. We will be sure to return anytime we are within a 50 mile radius! It's worth it to drive out of your way a bit!

The first time we are there, it was fantastic. The mushroom toast (incredible) & chicken & waffles were delicious. The second time was also very good; although the bacon grease from the bacon made the lettuce on my BLT greasy and wilted. But this wouldn't deter from going back probably just wouldn't order the BLT..

Another amazing find thanks to YELP! We're traveling again which means more opportunity to find and enjoy local gems. Breakfast is my favorite so I love trying new (to me) places. Leaven Bakery had some beautiful options in the case but we opted for hearty choices this time. The Leaven Hot Brown was a delightful take on the traditional dish. The biscuit was HUGE, light and delicious. The gravy very flavorful and the chicken breast was not too heavy on breading, perfectly crispy outside & moist inside. The bacon was exceptionally flavorful. A perfect combination. My husband has the Americano: eggs, bacon, potatoes & sourdough toast. The eggs were perfectly prepared and the breakfast potatoes (which I am VERY picky about) were exceptional. The service was friendly- despite the good sized crowd and less than patient patrons around us. That's an excellent customer service experience! Kudos, for a job well done!

Great space with friendly service, tasty food, and a limited menu. That door's a push, by the way. We visited for lunch and were highly impressed with the way the restaurant looked. It is a little rustic, but clean and modern at the same time. With the open kitchen and eat-at bar stretching the right side of the extremely sunny room, a case of baked goods and an ordering counter to the left and a more intimate dining space tucked up and around some stairs, it was an amazing transformation from it's previous occupants. The menu is fairly limited with only a handful of lunch and breakfast entrees. More limited when we visited due to the lack of chicken on hand. But the food was five stars! It is priced fairly average, so you're getting what you pay for. There is not really table service, but the staff is very helpful nonetheless. I will definitely be back!

    The owners' story. Charming!

I am sure on most days the bread is heavenly and the meals sumptuous. Mine was not. Sadly. Less than 3 minutes after it was served, and without me touching it except to gently turn it over after I became suspicious, the grease showed itself to have gushed out from whatever was inside. An absolute mess. Almost inedible without transferring the grease to all over me. See photo. Was prepared by the owner. I think you are better than this. A breakfast burrito should be a layup.

This place is great! Nice selection of tea and juices. The eggs are a nice orangeish color and the toast and potatoes were crispy. Biscuits and gravy was very rich- will eat over two meals. Bacon was a little salty and was precooked and reheated so it was thin. Overall will definitely go back!

I have been following Leaven Bakery since they were just a biz on social media, run out of the owners' home. I'm thrilled that I got to visit their brick and mortar location. Leaven Bakery boasts some outdoor seating and indoor spots, along with a lunch menu and ample bakery case. I loved that you could see the bread being made right when you walk in. I opted for a peanut butter cookie for my son, blondie and apple turnover, along with a loaf of ciabatta bread. The bread was the star of the show. Once I got it home and we sliced it up, we found a crusty bread that was fresh and soft in the inside. I would go back just for this. The other treats were great as well. Everything was all around fantastic. Follow Leaven on Instagram to stay up on their current offerings.

That's how I ended up with a box of the most delightful, lovely little lemon cookies ever baked, anywhere. Ever. I wandered into this brightly colored storefront while Sexy Beast was a few doors down (at Kaiser's) and was offered up a brilliant smile and a chipper greeting. The case was filled with sugary manna but my eye was drawn to the ribbon bedecked colorful confections. They were almost too pretty to eat. Almost. The cookies were delicate and light and perfectly sweet with just enough lemon flavor to identify but not so much that it overwhelmed the very obviously real butter and love that went into them. The natives of New Albany were spared the tumult of a hurricane or an erupting volcano thanks to Rookie's Cookies. Y'all might want to thank someone with a goat or a bottle of champagne or something.

Because it was bigger than my head (ok, maybe this is a slight exaggeration but not by much) i had to disassemble it to eat it in stages. First off were the waffle fries and I found them to be tasty, crunch and fluffy in all the right spots. Once the taters were off I cut that biggie baby in 8 'Oh My Danwich' slices. Y'all, I rarely find myself at a loss for words, even my high dollar, 10 letter ones, but I can't fill this space with all the adjectives I would want in describing this sanwich that would make you want breakfast for every meal. The sausage had that savory salty pork taste that makes you happy you're not a vegetarian with an egg slice that was fluffier than my German Shepherd's downy fur. The cheese even had a nice pull with the topper being their chive aioli. And that sandwich was just the beginning because I also ordered a Strawberry Cruffin, Bourbon Peach hand pie and a raspberry Danish to have as late night snacks. The handpie didn't do it for me. The peaches lacked flavor that I found myself asking bestie if she wanted it because I was jiat going to toss in the trash after just 2 bites. The strawberry mascarpone cream in the cruffin was silky smooth and berrylicious with the croissant being flaky and fluffy. It was almost like a sweet and savory after school snack. The kind of bakery item that keeps you coming back for more. And more. And the piece de resistance was the raspberry Danish. I've lived my 61 years learning to never turn down raspberry anything and today, my raspberry research paid off. One hundred percent tenfold. Even though the glaze drizzle was super sweet, the flaky danish offset it with that light crunch but fluffy innards. Y'all, with each bite I just fell more in love. The Danish was so good that when I came to my last bite not only was I sad that it would soon be gone but I wanted to cry. Cry y'all. Over a Danish! Yes, do it. You only live once. Order the Danwich & the Danish. You won't be sorry. You can pay me in Butchertown gift cards. Or Bourbon. Hubby's brother lives across the Ohio so, next time he goes to visit them I'm going with him. Just so I can drive over here and try their lunch items and grab more danishes. The folks were super friendly, the place both clean and quiet. Which, kinda surprised me because the food is so good I couldn't understand why there weren't lines around the block. That changed the longer we dined in as folks just started roaming in. I said to my friend that the Louisville folk must get started late in the day.
