Big shout-out to Williams Bakery! On a Sunday morning they had a beautiful selection of all kinds of cookies and cakes. Picked up a big cake to take to a family reunion and it was a huge hit! The Baker herself was there and said that the bakery has been there for 130 years, obviously not in the same location since this is a nice modern place, but that tells you something! We've purchased every single birthday cake for our family here since I was a child. Unfortunately, we purchased our last today. Globby greasy icing that has literally pulled off the cake due to the weight and consistency. No roses which is standard on every cake we've ordered for a birthday. William's has been a staple bakery & donut joint on this side of river for a very long time. They have everything from breads to cakes to cookies to donuts. I popped in on a Sunday morning around 9:00am to get some sweet treats. Their thumb print cookies are to die for. I wanted to try some of their donut holes however the staff member told me they were sold out for the day. He told me they typically sell out of donut holes between 7am & 8am on the weekends. He was very nice and helped me select a couple of other donuts to try. I got a glazed donut (big yum) and a cake glazed donut (also yum). I preferred the glazed donut over the cake donut. I will definitely set my alarm and head over one weekend to see about snagging some donut holes! read more

I will definitely be back! I was looking all over for a lamb cake, as I always grew up in Chicago having one each Easter. A few people had recommended this bakery. While they didn't have a lamb cake, they had this bunny cake which definitely was a great stand-in in place of the lamb! All the kids loved it, and it tasted delicious! O.M.Goodness....I stopped here to bring donuts to visiting family on a whim as I had never been to this hidden gem before. The staff (plentiful) was very friendly & gave me the run down on the bakery's offerings regardless of the crowd that continually filed in for baked goodies. After being gone for nearly 30 years I was thrilled to learn that although Williams Bakery was no longer located off Lewis-Clark in the same plaza where K-Mart used to be located when I was a child, but that they have relocated to a location that's about 3 miles away - if that far. When I was a child my mother would treat me to their star-shaped butter cookies when we'd visit K-Mart on the weekends. That was a memory I always held onto. Although I couldn't literally taste that fond memory since they no longer bake my favorite cookie, I was able to try their other goodies. They have a huge selection of donuts, cakes, cookies, etc. I tried the glaze donut, fried chocolate danish, and peanut butter cookies. The glaze was super delicious - they tasted like the old school donuts that I've found to be difficult to find now-a-days. The fried chocolate danish was really, really good - to die for. - oh my goodness! The sales lady said they sell quickly - I can taste as to why! The chocolate was thickly atop and the chocolate flavoring itself was really good (made from scratch maybe??). The PB cookies were definitely made from scratch - they were light, yet really good. I will definitely go back for the glaze and fried chocolate danish and I look forward to trying other baked goods. Oh...I think they're reasonably priced. I bought 2 glaze, 2 fried chocolate danishes, and 1 package of peanut butter cookies (6 in the pack) and it totaled $7 and some change. The bakery itself is large on the inside, it has a seating area, and a drive-thru. Parking is ample, whether in front of its building or in the parking lot belonging to the plaza next door. My husband's favorite cake so we have this cake a few times a year. We order a white cake, which is always fresh tasting and it is topped with the bakery white nostalgia vanilla icing. Flower roses are a staple feature on the cakes. I have tried to deviate from the roses several times but it is never works out for me. I know communication is key when ordering, but you can only do so much. As long as you keep it simple you will not only have a great tasting cake, but a pretty floral cake as well. I have had other goodies from Williams and all the have been delicious. Everyone is very pleasant when you call and pickup service is always fast and friendly. I will continue to order my simple little cakes because they taste great and my family loves the traditional bakery taste. read more

My opinion only here, but Southern Indiana has two top of the charts doughnut shops, Williams and Jeff's. Jeffs was in Jeff, but moved to Charlestown and Williams is still in Clarksville. I love both equally but I really appreciate the downhome feel of Williams. You can buy doughnuts, a drink and sit down and eat, or get homemade cookies and breads on the sales racks to take home in bulk.their hot cross buns are awesome too and you cannot beat their King cakes but be sure and order those early! read more

I love this place. I am a bit of a apple fritter expert, and this place is the standard that I compare all other apple fritters too. The product is consistent and delicious. All of the other donuts I have tried have been wonderful as well and I have heard great things about their cakes and bread. If you find yourself in the area, swing​ by and give it a go. Williams Bakery. Terrible customer service and an awful place to get your sweets. I ordered a cake and they wrote a boys name in pink. When I asked to have the cake remade because of the error they made they blamed it on me and told me I would be charged again, and when I asked why would they write a boys name in pink if I didn't clarify it should be pink they said "because that's the world we live in how do we know". Which doesn't even make sense. We asked for a boy cake regardless and the lady there wanted to argue. This was the worst experience I've had with customer service. They wanted to charge us again for another cake even though it was there mistake. They will not go to any length to provide good customer service. read more

Williams Bakery is by far the best bakery in the Southern Indiana area! I have grown up on their donuts and birthday cakes. The cakes have that "old school" butter cream icing that has just the slightest crispness when you cut your piece of cake with your fork. The white cake and chocolate cake are both just delicious. They also have donuts that beat all the competitors. Delicious crispy edged glazed, amazing chocolate long johns and renowned apple fritters and so much more. They always have big hand iced and decorated sugar cookies that go with every season. Pies, bread, buns, cupcakes, anything your heart desires. Before I begin, let me preface that I've been a Williams customer for as long as I can remember and I've always had great experiences with them, but I was highly disappointed this go-round. I ordered 2 dozen cannolis for Christmas dessert and when I went to pick them up, they only had 1 dozen because they "misheard my order," and charged me $33. I was thinking, "Fine, whatever, but these better be the best cannolis I've ever had." Lo and behold I get home and find that the cannolis are filled with WHIPPED CREAM. My pal is a fan of well crafted beers so the folks at Williams Bakery made a cake that looked like a can of Budweiser beer. Now THIS is a bakery!! Donuts that just melt in your mouth..try a Yum Yum..omg! Coffee cakes..this Beehive coffee cake they make is unbelievable! They have the thumbprint cookies my mom used to always get at the Dobbs and Krall bakeries. Wish they had some with the nuts around the edges too. Tons of sugar cookies for all occasions and holidays. Brownies, cakes, freshly made bread and rolls. This is a bakery..not a donut shop like some like to call themselves..Jeff's! I especially like that you can actually watch them make things and decorate items because the area is open. Also great that when you walk in it DOESN'T smell like stale cigarette smoke!!
