12/30/25 McKinley's Cafe made for a great lunch stop. I ordered the soup of the day, a bowl of clam chowder. It was fantastic: creamy, comforting, and not too fishy or salty. I also tried their popular Gouda & turkey panini, and it did not disappoint. This is a pay-before-you-sit spot, and the service was impressively fast. My food came out hot and delicious within about 10 minutes. The ambiance was casual and inviting, and the staff was very friendly. Overall, a great enjoyable experience, and I would definitely eat here again in the future. But also there's limited parking as it is street parallel parking near by here. But well worth it.

McKinley's was OK. There are a few options nearby but this local sandwich spot is the most charming and busy. There was a steady stream of dine in and to go customers. We didn't wait long to order and then grab a table. Tried the Reuben, taco salad, and southwest salad. All the food was fine - a bit bland and wilted despite being made to order. The service was attentive but a few minor things were mixed up - like type of chips, etc. it has a very classic feel, and it cozy and relaxed. A decent option if you're in town.

Spicy roast beef and potato salad

Food was good, the service was good, and ambiance was laid-back. The aioli was good on the spicy roast beef, but the potato salad was a little underwhelming. Overall, a nice little place to grab a quick bite.

Reuben Panini

McKinley's is a very solid deli/lunch spot. I had the Reuben Panini which was very good, I don't think I've ever had a pressed Reuben before. I also ordered a bag of Sun Chips, Garden Salsa, and a chocolate chip cookie. While I was sitting waiting for my order to be made I saw a Butter Pecan Toffee cookie in the case and decided at the last minute to do a cookie switch. The food prep didn't take long and the prices were reasonable so I plan on returning to McKinley's.

This place is undoubtedly my favorite place for lunch in Shelbyville, Ky. It's tucked away in downtown Shelbyville on the main drag. You order at the counter when you enter. There are menus on the wall for both normal fare and catered food. We always change it up and try something new... everything is always on point. Their potato salad is a must-- definitely my favorite thing on the menu. Today we got paninis. I also opted for the chicken curry soup with rice as my side and it was heavenly. It really hit the spot on such a chilly day. I absolutely recommend this spot for a lunch made by a local shop with delicious, fresh ingredients.

Pineapple salad during lunch was absolutely out of this world amazing. Look forward to returning soon and trying this again!

The rotisserie chicken with collard greens and wedges is my go to every time! Though I have tried the tenders, the sandwiches and few more items. Waldo's Chicken & Beer isn't just another chicken place (which is why I honestly hadn't bothered visiting). They have AMAZING sides and desserts. I was wrong for thinking oh another chicken tender place big whoop.... We chose the cheddar biscuit basket with honey butter, chicken tender basket & the chicken tender sandwich. The chicken was fried perfectly. Crisp but not too greasy. The buffalo dipping sauce is perfectly spiced and just the right amount of pucker. I could dip just bread in it. It's so good. The coleslaw is divine. Sweet and tangy with the perfect ratio of vinegar to sugar. It reminds me of my Momma's. Comes with fries and Texas toast. Yum!! My daughter had the tender sandwich and she loved it. I didn't try the sandwich but I did try the mac-n-cheese and it was very flavorful. The cheddar biscuits were so-so; but, I'm a loyal Red Lobster cheddar biscuit snob. These were really sweet. They did have banana pudding on the menu that I will definitely try again next time. Portion sizes are big so you can eat on it twice. Welcome to Shelbyville Waldo's. We will be back!

We shared a basket of the fried pickles. We have been trying fried pickles where ever we eat and we all agreed that these were the best fried pickles. The pickles were crispy and the breading was light. I had two pulled pork tacos. The pork filling was generous and delicious. I loved the pickled onions and sprinkle of cheese on top. These were good tacos. My husband had the Fish Dinner composed of two battered cod pieces and a mountain of fries. He loved his fish and I ate half of his fries. My only downside here is there is no game day specials to really draw people in. Also note that it is al a carte so all entree items are the sandwich/wrap by themselves around ($12-$15) then the sides are all $4 per item. It does add up quickly and I do wish they had more options of combo meals. A burger and fries for almost $20 is a heavy hit for lunch. The food however is really delicious, getting refills was a bit slow but our server was really sweet!

At first, everything seemed fine -- we were seated, looked over the menu, and placed our drink orders. However, things quickly went downhill. When my drink arrived, the rim smelled strongly of hand sanitizer. The server who brought it also smelled like hand sanitizer, which made me believe she had touched the rim of my glass with her hands -- something that should never happen. After we finished our drinks, we received no refills. When the server came back, she told us we had to specifically ask for them. Even when she brought out the salads, she could clearly see our empty glasses but chose to ignore it. We ended up waiting what felt like hours for our food. At that point, we asked to speak to the manager. To our surprise, the manager defended the same poor service and also said we were responsible for requesting refills. No one from the staff checked on our table to see if we needed anything or if everything was okay. The service was disrespectful and inattentive from start to finish. On top of that, we were charged significantly more for fountain drinks than they should cost (they quoted a much higher price than the typical $2-$4 range). Their lack of care completely ruined a 10-year-old girl's birthday celebration that she had been so excited about. We never even received our entrées and had to leave, which meant a lot of food went to waste. Had someone simply apologized and made an effort to fix the situation by saying something like "I'm sorry, we're a little busy we'll try to do better," we might have stayed. Instead, the indifference and rudeness were completely unnecessary. We will not be returning. Very disappointed and upset that a special family occasion was handled so poorly

The BBQ was outstanding. The brisket had a beautiful smoke ring, was incredibly juicy, and had the perfect bark. The ribs were exactly how I like them--tender with a slightly sweet, sticky sauce that complemented the meat instead of overpowering it. The macaroni and cheese was good, but honestly, I'd make the drive again just for the BBQ. We've tried BBQ all over the Louisville area, and B & N Food Market is now our favorite. If you're anywhere within driving distance, it's absolutely worth the trip.

My wife's ribs were huge and the sides generous. The ribs were smokey and very meaty. These are not baby back ribs, they are very big. Our only complaint is the ribs were enveloped in a pretty tough crust. Quite chewy. BUT once you broke through to the meat it was tender and very tasty. Her sides were Mac and cheese and green beans. My wife thought the Mac and cheese was just OK but the green beans were seasoned very well and she loved them. My brisket came with two thick slices with a nice crust on the fat side. I really enjoyed the brisket. My sides were the Mac and cheese, and pinto beans and cornbread. I agreed with my wife, the Mac and cheese was OK, but the pinto beans and cornbread was very good, seasoned nicely. There's no real handheld menu. You walk up to the counter and there are big pieces of paper taped to the glass case that serves as the menu. So you get in line, and as you move forward staff comes out and takes your order. You grab a seat and your self serve fountain drink if you want one. They bring your food to you. Other than ordering and food delivery, everything else is self serve. Desserts and soft serve ice cream are also available as self serve. All staff are very friendly and accommodating. They were extremely nice and patient with me walking through the whole process since this was our first visit. BTW, be prepared for communal dining. Very few single tables and they go fast. You pay once you're done eating. Nice small town folks and good food.
