IYKYK!! Morris Deli…read moreis most definitely a spot to try! Everything about this place screams hole in the wall, yet this place is such a GEM! Just on the edge of the Highlands, Morris Deli is not only your stop for your packaged drinks, but a nice sandwich or homemade soup as well. Drive by on the right day, you'll also see the smoker blowing outside. My sandwich of choice is a club on a toasted croissant with Colby cheese and a cup of broccoli cheddar soup. Look at the pictures, this place doesn't miss! It's constantly full of usuals and the staff definitely knows their people. Morris Deli is the neighborhood classic and definitely a place to try when in Louisville.

Definitely a ( sort of ) hidden gem…read more I really love this spot because when I can't find certain things like Coopers cheese, or legit country ham, they are there in full force. It's hard to find certain things in Louisville. They fill the gaps. Service is pretty on point. Straight up and " let's get to it " kind of vibe I'm used to in big cities, but they don't really rush you. Just let someone pass you if there's questions. There's just a lot of random things here down to the chips and take home items that are worth the visit alone. Need an entire country ham with stamps from the farm? Check. Bread is pretty good too. I would for sure recommend this place, but it takes a few trips to get your orders dialed in.

We had been watching their facebook page and saw that the special today was fried Pork chop, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, beans and cornbread, and fried apples. Pork chops were tender and juicy, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and beans and cornbread tasted like grandma made them, yummy and delicious! Great chai, great sandwiches, great desserts, and you'll definitely want a loaf of bread to go. They do a fish night a couple nights a week which I have yet to try, but I hear great things. These folks genuinely care about the quality of their ingredients. The staff is very personable. The back deck gives you a great view of the lake. All in all, a great food addition to our community. I hope this amazing family can find a better location for their great food soon.

My coworker saw this place driving by the other day and so we decided to get lunch and try it out…read more We got four slices, a pepperoni, a sausage, sausage and jalapeno, and fugazzetta, which is an Argentinian style pizza with cheese and onion. The fugazzetta was mine and it was very nice. I also had a bite of the sausage and jalapeno. I didnt feel that any one flavor stood out but overall it was good. My coworkers said they liked what they ordered and would come back. The interior is small, and mainly for take out. There is a counter that runs along the front windows with some stools, and a few tables outside, but its not a "sit and linger" type place. Service was quick, pleasant and efficient. I hear the food in the ball park is especially egregious so if you want something decent to eat, its right across the street from it.

Food is fresh and delicious (an elite smashburger, I should give that shout out in particular), and it's hard to leave hungry. Good drinks too. Friendly and welcoming servers and staff. The community table on the patio is a pretty neat setup. Also just kind of enjoy dining indoors--not a huge space, and the wood-fired oven just makes it feel cozy to me...but that may really just be me!

After all the hype I decided to try Red Hog for lunch on a Saturday afternoon…read more It was pretty busy for lunch but we were seated inside. Lunch menu was a little pricey but we figured this meat must be amazing to have these prices. First the cocktails. Pricey at $15 a pop. We tried two that sounded pretty different the Spanish Pipe Dream and bourbon based Velvet Goldmine and they were just ok and kind of tasted way too similar. These were supposedly on the sweeter side but I'd give them a 6/10. We tried the $17 dry aged burger with an additional $2 charge for fries and it was pretty good but after all the hype it similar to all smash burgers. The dry age flavor really wasnt there. Bun was standard brioche type, not toasted. Good burger but nothing special though. I did enjoy the sauce and toppings giving. It a unique sweet flavor. 6/10 but just go to Toastys for a similar cheaper one with way better fries. The fries were disappointing. Soggy, floppy, zero seasoning and salt on the. Tasted like the oil they were fried in and that's it. Not the best. 5/10 Turkey club. 8/10. $18 with no sides. The bread and sauce really do 99% of the work because taste wise the turkey was not discernable from supermarket deli turkey. The bread is a delicious oven baked pizza crust folded over and the sauce combo tastes like a Cesar salad. I highly recommend this , it's a simple but amazing sandwich, but it at this price point for salad and turkey on pizza crust it really should have a side. Service was 2/10, non existant. Took 1.5 hours to get out of there because of how it took 20 minutes to order and another 20 just to get our drinks, and our server was busy with tables outside so we didn't see her until we were asking for our checks. Overall the food was good, drinks just ok, but the hype this place gets , at least for lunch, along with the service is grounds for dissapointment.

We finally made the drive to B & N Food Market in Bagdad, and it absolutely lived up to the hype…read more Even arriving for a late lunch, the place was packed, but the line moved quickly and the staff kept everything running efficiently. The BBQ was outstanding. The brisket had a beautiful smoke ring, was incredibly juicy, and had the perfect bark. The ribs were exactly how I like them--tender with a slightly sweet, sticky sauce that complemented the meat instead of overpowering it. The macaroni and cheese was good, but honestly, I'd make the drive again just for the BBQ. We've tried BBQ all over the Louisville area, and B & N Food Market is now our favorite. If you're anywhere within driving distance, it's absolutely worth the trip.

Heard about B&N from a friend. Road trip to Bagdad for lunch…read more My wife ordered the half rack of ribs with 2 sides ($23). I ordered the brisket special that also came with 2 sides ($19.99). My wife's ribs were huge and the sides generous. The ribs were smokey and very meaty. These are not baby back ribs, they are very big. Our only complaint is the ribs were enveloped in a pretty tough crust. Quite chewy. BUT once you broke through to the meat it was tender and very tasty. Her sides were Mac and cheese and green beans. My wife thought the Mac and cheese was just OK but the green beans were seasoned very well and she loved them. My brisket came with two thick slices with a nice crust on the fat side. I really enjoyed the brisket. My sides were the Mac and cheese, and pinto beans and cornbread. I agreed with my wife, the Mac and cheese was OK, but the pinto beans and cornbread was very good, seasoned nicely. There's no real handheld menu. You walk up to the counter and there are big pieces of paper taped to the glass case that serves as the menu. So you get in line, and as you move forward staff comes out and takes your order. You grab a seat and your self serve fountain drink if you want one. They bring your food to you. Other than ordering and food delivery, everything else is self serve. Desserts and soft serve ice cream are also available as self serve. All staff are very friendly and accommodating. They were extremely nice and patient with me walking through the whole process since this was our first visit. BTW, be prepared for communal dining. Very few single tables and they go fast. You pay once you're done eating. Nice small town folks and good food.
