Can't believe it took this long to put this gem into words, but after visiting more times than I can count, Red Hog has firmly cemented itself as one of our absolute favorites in Louisville. There isn't a bad seat in the house or the butcher shop. Every corner has its own character, as unique and thoughtful as the food coming out of the kitchen. The open cooking in the shared space adds a warmth that makes it feel like dinner and a show, without the performance. The menu rotates with the seasons, but the crowd favorites never disappear. And for good reason. The burger is a legitimate contender for best in Louisville, no small feat in a city with serious competition. White cheddar, Ross Sauce, bacon jam, fried shallots, pickles, and Red Hog bacon, served with hand-cut fries and a curry aioli that deserves its own review. Unreal. The seasonal farmers market salad was everything summer should taste like, fresh, crisp greens with whey vinaigrette, market vegetables, and cave aged cheddar. Light but deeply satisfying. The Denver steak with chimichurri was perfectly executed. A glass of Cabernet and a martini rounded out a meal that had zero weak links. Red Hog is the rare restaurant that earns the hype every single time. Home run, every visit.

Always love a trip to Red Hog. One of my faves in town. Tried lunch for the first time today. We split a Caesar salad, which is also a dinner item. It's a fantastic salad - full of flavor including herbs from their garden, lots of cheese, and anchovies. Also split the smash burger for lunch, which was hefty. This isn't a whimpy, limp burger, but crispy, hot, and a great compliment to one of their tasty salads. The server we had today was so kind and attentive. Very chatty and easy going, and I've found universally the staff are so hospitable. We ate on the patio, which is a quiet and airy touch to the meal.

HOLY MOLY. My friend's parents had this restaurant on "the list" for Louisville so we figured we'd check it out. Such a good vibe when you walk in - smells like the pizza oven and tasty food, has a cool covered outdoor patio, indoor seating, everyone happy and smiling and stuffing their faces. We sat outside and had a cocktail, appetizer, and some amazing dishes. The pimento cheese dip was different and really tasty. The wedge was banging and HUGE. The burger actually was simple but perfect and the sauce was amazing. Fish sandwich special was impressive and soo crispy. Let's talk about this club sandwich on the pizza sourdough. OMG. So fun and delicious and I've never had anything like it. Truly amazing. Cocktails were solid. The avocado margarita was a nice surprise and we all had to try a sip. Server was friendly, busy, and great. Very sweet and took good care of us.

The food here is delicious! We had the burger and the pizza, and both were fresh and made to order. I tried the Poblano Peridot and was surprised by the flavor profile! You get the flavor of poblanos with the creaminess of avocado! I would recommend reservations. I am on the shorter side (5'4"- ish), and found it difficult to sit at the high top tables (which is most of their seating). My feet could bot even touch the rung on the stool.

Went on a Thursday night. We had a reservation which was good because it was already crowded at 6pm. Had friendly service from the hostess & server throughout the night. Enjoyed the sangria for a drink. The whipped feta and sourdough bread starter was so good. Highly recommend. Had the Denver steak and smoked chicken for our entrees. The steak was seasoned and cooked well. The chicken was also seasoned and cooked well, but I liked the steak more.

When you think you're going in for chicken & you end up having the best filet you've ever had. That's what this place did lol. The potatoes had the perfect crisp. I would come back to order other things to try or be perfectly content getting the same exact thing. Great casual service with a nice cozy vibe. Definitely recommend. We will be back.

One of our fav restaurants in Louisville! Farm to table concept with locally sourced organic ingredients to bring you the best. Everything we've tried is delicious. Indoor and outdoor seating are cozy and intimate. Fire lamps and heat lamps in the cooler temps keep the patio warm and set the vibe for date night. The outdoor area feels like a dreamy upscale backyard in the best way. The staff are so sweet and helpful and make you feel like family. Erin (manager) and Tim (owner) are the absolute best! Very accommodating to food allergies** The butcher shop has hand made sandwiches, charcuterie, meats, cheeses, and all the accoutrements. Perfect for a small get together or large party.

We had a Saturday night reservation and had never been to the Red Hog before. When we arrived we were seated quickly and greeted quickly by our waitress. We were sat next to the garage door which had a fair amount of cold air coming in. The place isn't very big on the inside and I had to take my coat and hang it on the wall just inside the entrance. I had the chicken which was good and my wife had the Denver steak. The chicken was good but the steak was a bit chewy. We also ordered the cabbage and beets, my wife enjoyed them both but I was more of a cabbage fan. I would eat here again but wouldn't necessarily make it a priority to get back.

One of my favorite, go to restaurants for consistently great food and service. Plus they take reservations. Something to be said about reservations at a restaurant, regardless of the price point. Their expanded outdoor seating area, which is heated, making winter dining warmer!!! We had lunch instead of the normal dinner experience. Started with cesar salad with anchovies on top. Fresh and pairs with anything you decide on for your main. Finished with smash burger with fries. Burger was great with this lovely crispy edges on a smashed burger you look forward to. Hint: ask for a bit of curried aioli on the side for fry dipping in addition to ketchup! Their spirits a wine select is on point as well.

Went to Red Hog for the first time over the weekend! It was fantastic! We sat out on the patio and it was lovely! Did not make a reservation , but next time we will! It was busy on a Friday night! We did not do any cocktails this trip , but their ice tea was fantastic. For appetizer we did the whipped feta and sourdough. That sourdough was CHEFS KISS! For dinner , we did the Denver steak , pizza and Caesar salad to split! No dessert. We didn't want to leave because it was so nice out Friday evening! They have a lovely community table outside as well that's covered! We actually ended up knowing one of the chefs there too. It was nice seeing Aaron! We cannot wait to come back!

My husband and I came to try Redhog for date night after hearing positive things. We sat outside, which was a cute little dining area. I'd highly recommend reservations as it is a small, yet cute place. We started with the buttermilk brioche appetizer and it was my favorite part of the meal, SO good! I ordered the dry aged cheeseburger for my meal and my husband the chicken. It was a good portion of food and very tasty. Our service was also impeccable throughout our meal. This is more of an upscale place, so you will pay a little more, but a good date night place!

We eat at Red Hog quite a bit. Very dependable for an excellent experience in every aspect. They usually have a few fresh additions to the menu that highlight their creativity. Their menu isn't huge, but it has something for everyone.

Red Hog is the perfect elevated casual restaurant. You can roll up in a dress and heels or dirty overalls and feel right at home, and I love that. The food is incredible. It's so obviously fresh, simple but creative in their presentation. Indoor seating is comfy even with the zillion degree wood fired oven right in the dining space. This was our first time eating at the restaurant but have frequented the butcher shop previously - also huge fans. My favorite was The Franck, which is what I'd imagine it'd be like if a pizza, calzone, and sandwich all had a love affair, 10/10.

The food - A lot of variety of sandwiches to choose from. My Turkey sandwich was packed with meat that overwhelmed the regular slices of bread. Loved the variety of fruit options, frozen items, fresh meat, and other things to try out. Garden section - Didn't know this existed in here. A variety of plants and flowers to choose from. Customer service- It was top notch from the counter and front store cashiers. Everyone was nice and on point. They kept lines moving which I appreciated too. There are 4 Paul's Markets in Louisville, and I am fortunate to live very close to the Middletown location, which opened in 1996.
