Lotsa pasta is a saint Mathews neighborhood Italian market/deli place in the city of Louisville located off Lexington ave. Me and my family was riding around the Saint Mathews area today on a Monday evening looking for a new place to eat. We seen a lovely patio with the words lotsa pasta on it and was like "boom we love Italian food let's go". So we pulled up in the parking lot. Walking through the front doors and we was surprised. This is a grocery store that has all Italian delicacies and food items. We noticed that there was a next door so we walked to the back and there was a small counter for ordering what looks like it use to be coffee and speciality drinks. A worker approached and we asked him about the place. He said it's a market but up front there is a deli that serves sandwiches and we were more than welcome to dine on the patio tables out front. We decided that may be cool so we browsed the market and found the deli. The market was very cool and fun to explore. The deli had a large menu and also every cheese I could ever imagine. From them menu I personally got the meatball sub. My wife got the soup of the day which was beef stroganoff, and my daughters got mozzarella and pepperoni pizza paninis. My wife and daughters picked out some cheeses to take home and eat later. My 19 month old also picked one out too as she found a cheese block and gnawed through the plastic. So we did the honorable thing and purchased it. Beside our food and cheese I also got us some canned sodas and some frozen cannolis as I've always wanted to try a cannoli and never had before. After the deli market you take it to the front counter for our purchases. A very nice lady greeted us and asked if we wanted some free bread today and pointed to a a shelf behind her with all kinds of fresh bread. We asked a what she would recommended and she said sourdough so that's what we got. She sliced it up using a machine and wrapped it for us and put with our purchase. Whole order cost around $70. So not bad at all For a family of 6 to eat and have speciality cheeses to take home. We went outside on a lovely patio and the male worker from earlier brought us out a trash can so we could dispose of our trash (top notch service in all aspects here). My meatball sub was phenomenal. Best meatball sub I've ever eaten. My daughters paninis were large and they loved them. I tasted the pepperoni pizza one and it was great. My wife loved her beef stroganoff and said her store purchase salad was good too. The cannolis was a three pack so we busted it open out there as well. I never had a Cannoli before so nothing to reference it too but it was really good. We all loved everything. We ordered and got here. We haven't jumped into our cheese purchases yet (19 month old doing a mouse impersonation in the store did I guess) but I'm sure it will be top notch too. No reason for us to think otherwise based off everything else so far. Overall a great experience and a super cool and unique place. How are more people not talking about this place? It's great. I'll absolutely come back and spread the word on this hidden Saint Mathews gem.

We opted for the bruschetta topped with mozzarella and served with tomato basil drip. Then the fresh bread arrived and my goodness was it good. It was fluffy with a crunchy exterior, perfect for dipping into the sauce of our entrees. They have lots of pasta options, including a build your own pasta with a choose of noodles, sauce and meat. I was torn between the piccata or Marsala, but wanted something fresh and bright - the piccata did not disappoint. the chicken was moist, the capers were huge and the sauce was bright and tart. I would definitely order it again. I've already made reservations to go back in December!

From the moment we walked in, the service was so warm and genuine. Now, let's talk about the food because holy cannoli--it was chef's kiss worthy. We started with escargot, which was excellent. Then came the caprese pasta with grilled shrimp. Imagine tomatoes, basil, mozzarella, and shrimp having a delicious little party on your plate. The lasagna and manicotti, bathed in pink sauce so rich and creamy, made me question my life choices up to that point. Of course, this Italian feast needed wine worthy of the gods--Chianti, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc all played their parts beautifully, like the perfect musical trio backing an epic food opera. There is something to be said about fresh pasta & these folks used all of my ten dollar words when bouncing ideas off one another in creating it. That pasta dish was so delicious I contemplated another one to go for a midnight snack! In all seriousness, if you can make it, I totally recommend it. Bestie had the Lasagne Al Fornno and it was also delectable. I specifically saved room for dessert and the Tiramisu was not a disappointment. Seriously folks, go! Run! It's just that good. We have enjoyed ourselves immensely and if I ever make it back, bar bites are next up.

She was very sweet and kept a big smile on her face. She's been there 6 years and recognizes a lot of their customers. We went through the line and if you ordered a salad or a buffet, you helped yourself. There was also the ice machine and soft drink machines to help yourself and then if you were waiting for a pizza, you seated yourself. We got to all sit together down the row by the door. It was great seeing Charlie back in town again. The food was so very good. It's nice to be able to use the buffet and have a taste of everything. The Kitchen Chefs, Ethan and Jose kept the Pizzas and Pastas coming out. More than half of our group used the buffet. It looked so good and there were so many varieties. Emma checked on us and cleared off the table, multiple times. We also got to meet Brian, the Manager. He was a great help bringing food out to the tables and the buffet bar. I also read online that Wednesday nights were the Senior Night and that we would get a discount! I think we're going to go back, pretty soon! We also want to pass a shout out to the Owner, Jim Ferrel. He's a great Swain Pointe Supporter. It was a great night! Robyn

And, as we had the grandkids with us, I thought the daily buffet would be a great option. So, in fairness, I suspect if you order off the menu, you'll be brought a darn good pizza, served piping hot. The buffet is another story. $11 for adults, $5 for kids gets you endless pizza, soft drinks and some kind of "knots" (if you look hard enough). The pizza on the buffet was pretty good, as long as you like pepperoni or sausage. Gluten free options? Nope. Nada. Zilch. We asked for a thin crust veggie pizza and they accommodated. The salad bar was a huge disappointment shredded lettuce, a few peppericini , banana peppers and chopped bell pepper. A few bins held croutons, pepperoni and ham. Nothing fresh. Dressings come in packets. So Mazerella's. Gets good points for food. But the breakdown comes is service and cleanliness, or lack-of. The salad bar, the floors, the trash bins, the kitchen prep area were filthy. At no time did anyone come to the dining area to clean up. Tables weren't clean. Trash over flowing. And the buffet restocked only when they were down to one or two pies. With only 2 people working, it's clearly a staffing issue. The board of health would have lots to say about food safety. Would I go back? Maybe. Mazerella's is a whole lot better than Mr Gatti's or Marco's. But I'd feel more comfortable if they swept the floors and empty the trash.
