I mean when was the last time a business - even local - asked your name before you left, unless it was to put on your coffee cup? We've had the club, the Brooklyn, and the veggie caprese and all of them are phenomenal. I don't think you could make a bad choice at The Block - you're gonna be happy and satisfied. That gives it a completely different flavor and makes it stand out from the other Reubens I've tried. I really liked the atmosphere here, too. It's an older building with a cozy, old-school feel, and I enjoyed looking at all the pictures throughout the inside. It has some character to it that you just don't get in a newer restaurant. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better. There's also some pretty cool Louisville history behind the Kayrouz name. The family has been in the restaurant business here for generations, going all the way back to the 1920s. The current deli carries on recipes and traditions connected to J.P. Kayrouz, so you're getting more than just another sandwich shop when you walk through the door. Overall, I enjoyed my visit. It was a bit on the dry side and would be skipped next time. My friend got a BLT and wasn't impressed. One piece of bread was soft while the other was hard, almost stale.
