The bad: the policies and practices here are awful. I made meal requests to multiple people about my dietary concerns, and got absolutely no response from management. Nobody informed me about the program to made me healthy again. I was kept in the dark, and found out they planned to keep me for a month, even though the only reason I was there was to improve my legs. It felt like a prison, where you're kept in a confined space. My wife had to come and take me out of there covertly. That's why I said the policies and practices suck.

I asked her eye drops and a Tylenol and I was told by the nurse tonight that she wasn't going to give it to me for whatever reason! I told her I was in pain and she said no. I'm signing myself out I can't be here. I've had no care. The food is awful I have diarrhea. I've had no attention I got antibiotics for my kidney infection so I'll take the antibiotics on the prescription with me home. I have no products to take care of myself and no clean clothes. This place is a monster prison. There been three people that even talk kindly to me. The staff has been abusive verbally and emotionally I believe they are delighted to be evil and cause people pain. I need to accept that people work with the elderly to dump their anger. So tired of this place.

But I could not have asked for any better place for her to be than Rossmoor Post Acute. The staff was so attentive and kind to her. Getting her medication adjusted was tough, but the staff really stuck with her. The CNA's always came when requested. The nursing staff was professional and kind. The therapists that we interacted with were skilled and seemed so devoted to their jobs. I would highly recommend them.

The deciding factor was simple but important: Rossmoor felt like a true medical care facility, while the other location felt more like a modern senior or retirement center. Given my father's condition, he needed real medical care--not just a nice environment--and Rossmoor clearly fit that need. From the very beginning, the level of service exceeded my expectations. Steve Stock, the General Manager, was outstanding. He gave me his mobile number and told me to text him anytime if something came up. That alone speaks volumes. I did my best not to reach out unless it was truly necessary, but whenever I did, he addressed every issue promptly and thoroughly. Not a single request was missed. I honestly don't know how he stays so organized, but he does--and it shows. One thing that really mattered to us was consistency with medications, and Rossmoor delivered. All medications were always administered correctly and on time, without exception. That level of reliability brought a lot of peace of mind. The food was also decent--better than expected for a medical facility--and whenever there was an opportunity to make things a little better or more comfortable, the staff consistently went the extra mile. The staff across the board were excellent. Every single person we interacted with was professional, kind, and clearly well trained. Special thanks to nurses Nadia, Carly, Roxanne, Marielle, and Gia--each one was outstanding and made a difficult time much easier for our family. The PT and OT staff were also fantastic--thank you Erica for your patience and care. Thanks to the laundry staff and the front desk team as well; their work doesn't go unnoticed. Bottom line: I highly recommend Rossmoor Post Acute to anyone who needs true post-acute medical care. Our experience there gave us peace of mind during a very stressful time, and for that I'm extremely grateful.

I have emailed and spoken directly with Sara, Leslie, and another administrator, and absolutely nothing was resolved. This public reply from Lily is purely to save face for the business. The facility billed my 101-year-old uncle $1,425, claiming he had remained two days beyond his Medicare-covered stay. However, a Kaiser-affiliated physician had extended his stay for an additional two days of observation after he returned from the Kaiser Walnut Creek Emergency Department. What should have been a simple correction became a lengthy ordeal. Despite numerous phone calls, emails, letters, and other communications with both Kaiser and the facility, neither organization initially acknowledged that the physician had authorized the extension. The matter remained unresolved for more than three years, including an extensive complaint process with the California Department of Public Health. Although the Department initially did not substantiate my complaint, it later reversed course and ultimately confirmed that my complaint was substantiated. Sadly, my uncle passed away in May 2024 at the age of 103 before the matter was fully resolved. More than three years after the disputed charges were incurred, Kaiser finally paid the $1,425 bill. While I received verbal apologies from Kaiser, I never received any acknowledgment or apology from the facility. In my view, no family should have to spend years correcting what should have been a straightforward billing error involving an elderly patient

But I made a promise to the staff at La Casa Via that I would share our experience, and I wanted to make sure I followed through. My parent was recovering from a broken hip and was in a very vulnerable, emotional state throughout the stay. Between dealing with pain, a language barrier, feeling tearful and overwhelmed, and having a lot of hesitation around medications, it was a stressful situation. The staff showed exceptional patience. The wound care nurse was remarkably skilled, the attending doctor was attentive, and the CNAs and nursing team handled the emotional stress and hesitancy with real care rather than frustration. Cat in administration was also very understanding and helpful with the logistical side of things whenever I had questions. The rehab industry as a whole has plenty of room for improvement and faces major systemic challenges, but the five stars here go to the staff on the ground. Despite the inherent difficulties of the system, this team worked through every obstacle with us and provided very good care. I am grateful for their support and would recommend them to anyone needing post-surgery rehabilitation.
