They've become not just caregivers, but friends--often their main source of daily interaction and connection. It's clear the staff care deeply, and it shows in every small, thoughtful gesture. After 6 months we moved him to Anna's Retreat where he was well cared for, we were informed on a regular basis of his needs and care. My mother lives in Anna's sister in laws care home, Bethel Care Home in Walnut Creek because it is easier for me to go to and also an excellent home for your loved ones. If you have an elderly parent and you are in need of good care, I guarantee you will be happy with either care home. Only 6 adults live in each home.

Getting her medication adjusted was tough, but the staff really stuck with her. The CNA's always came when requested. The nursing staff was professional and kind. Our family had serious safety concerns during my mother's stay at Rossmoor Post Acute. She was…read moreextremely weak and a known fall risk, yet at one point she was placed in a wheelchair without proper leg support. When staff attempted to move her, our family had to physically hold her legs up because she was unable to do so herself. We eventually had to ask staff to locate the proper leg rests. We also had concerns about fall prevention. My mother had been trying to get out of bed, yet when we asked about an alarm-equipped bed, we were told one would need to be ordered. When we asked what could be done in the meantime, staff had to locate a floor mat. There were also delays in responding to changes in her condition. She was complaining of feeling sick and being in pain, and it took more than 24 hours for a chest X-ray to be obtained. Our family repeatedly advocated for imaging and bloodwork to be made STAT. Her condition ultimately worsened and she had to be transferred back to the hospital. I understand that skilled nursing facilities care for medically complex patients, and a hospital transfer does not by itself mean a facility did something wrong. My concern is specifically about what our family personally witnessed leading up to that transfer: significant weakness, complaints of feeling sick, wheelchair safety concerns, fall-prevention measures that did not appear readily available, delays in diagnostic testing, and how much family advocacy it took to get attention to those concerns. I shared these concerns on another review platform. The facility responded, but the response did not address the specific incidents we described or explain what corrective action was taken. Families entrust facilities with people they love during some of their most vulnerable moments. Based on our experience, I strongly encourage families to be present, ask questions, understand the care plan, and advocate closely whenever something does not seem right. Our experience at Rossmoor Post Acute is why I am giving this facility one star.

Everyone has been incredibly kind, attentive, and compassionate toward my mom. They are very responsive to her needs, and I truly appreciate the effort they make to care for her and help with transportation to her doctor appointments. What means the most to me is that my mom loves it there. She feels comfortable and cared for, and that is priceless to our family. My dad was there for several weeks and Gene knew my dad wasn't comfortable with female nurses bathing him. So whenever a female nurse was assigned to bathe my dad, Gene would volunteer to take my dad on top of the patients he was assigned to that day. Not many people volunteer to take on extra work. We are so grateful to him and this made it so much easier for my dad to bathe regularly. Otherwise he would refuse to bathe if it was a female nurse. Gene always greeted us with a smile. For patients, it's so important to see a smiling face when in a facility like this. God bless Gene and his kind heart. Another nurse who was hired towards the end of my dad's stay- (I don't remember his name but I remember he was from Afghanistan). He too was so kind and caring. He would check on my dad noticeably more than what we were used to, and hewas so attentive. It felt like he was family. The downside: They don't have an after hour number to call. You call the main number and NO ONE ever picks up. Once I was on FaceTime with my dad around 10:45pm while he was at this facility. He began having a seizure during our call. Between my husband and I, I think we called maybe 60-70 times from 10:45-4am. No one answered. We were out of state so we couldn't just drive over. Even if you drive over, at that time the front doors are locked and you call the same number for them to open the door... so if they aren't answering, it didn't matter if you are outside or not. I came back to CA the next day because I was so worried about my dad. I brought this to the attention of the nurses and was told that they don't have another after hour number to give me. They said they would leave a message for their supervisor to call me back... no one ever called me back despite me following up several times. My dad could have fallen off his bed and really hurt himself that night... and not being able to get through is a major concern and consideration if we ever need to put my dad in a rehab facility again. This is why I'm giving it a 2 star because not being able to get through to a nurse is concerning and puts patients at risk. We were lucky that nothing happened to my dad when he had his seizure but I basically didn't sleep that night and flew back the next morning at 6:30am, which could have been avoided if I was able to get through to someone when I called (& my dad didn't answer the phone either (because his phone had dropped to the floor) which made us think of the worst possible scenario). If something had happened to my dad, they would have been 100% liable, therefore, I just don't understand the reason behind it having an emergency number to call the nurses after hours... or make sure someone is assigned to the phones at all times. I doubt during the time all patients are supposedly sleeping, why phones aren't answered as nurses are more likely to be sitting at the desk than all of them being with patients the entire time (from 10:45pm-4am). Another issue is the constant ringing sound which is patients trying to get the nurses attention. I don't know how they sit there and just ignore the ringing for hours. The you hear people screaming for help which is very hard to witness. It is very concerning that patients can be yelling for help and no one shows up for a while. I know brings nurses at such facility is a very difficult job but these patients are basically relying on the nurses... as some can't even get out of bed by themselves. I am writing this because no supervisor or anyone ever got back to me. Hopefully this will bring it to their attention.

I can wholeheartedly say that this agency has been a true blessing. I have had patients discharge home with little to no notice and Always Best Care has started care for me within hours of a patient going home. I've received nothing but good feedback from the families regarding the care and wellbeing of their loved ones while under the care of Always Best Care!

Absolutely terrible experience, beware of using this company! Our 91 year old mother who needed…read moreovernight care in her final days was left lying in a soaking wet bed by the caregiver, and the rail on the bed was found down by the facility CNA in the morning after the caregiver left. The primary reason we hired an overnight caregiver was to assure she didn't fall out of the bed! This was sheer negligence. In addition, the company has no formal method of providing updates to the family. I asked early in the day for a report from the overnight staff and was told by Bill Kammerer that a report would be provided to me. Never heard another word until the CNA from her residence told me the condition he found our mother in when he started his shift. This has caused considerable stress to me and my family during already very difficult times. The lack of professionalism from the poor staff training to the absence of communication is below a one star rating- it's criminal. Bill's comment about HBSC finding the complaint unsubstantiated doesn't erase the fact that his staff left my mother lying in soaking wet clothes and the bed rails down when they left their shift in the morning. The only reason it was "unsubstantiated" is because records showed his staff had been through required training, however, licensing could not confirm the violation of my mother's rights because according to their report to me, they hadn't witnessed the neglect. However the Nursing Director of my mother's residence DID witness the neglect by the staff of this agency and she was also appalled and as disturbed as my family and I were.
