I liked the treatment I received in Rossmoor faculty very much. They responded to my needs pretty quickly and that's A-OK by me

This is a clean place but most of the staff members aren't train nor capable to treat and help the needed and sick patients.

The entire staff made a difficult time so much easier for our family. Everyone--from the front desk to the nursing team--was incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely compassionate. The therapists were outstanding and played such a huge role in my mom's recovery, always encouraging and tailoring her care to her needs. The nurses and CNAs went above and beyond every single day, treating her with dignity, patience, and warmth. It's clear that the team here truly cares about their patients, not just medically but emotionally as well. I'm so grateful for the support and dedication they showed my mom. I highly recommend Walnut Creek Rehabilitation Center to anyone looking for top-quality care and a truly compassionate staff.

The bad: the policies and practices here are awful. I made meal requests to multiple people about my dietary concerns, and got absolutely no response from management. Nobody informed me about the program to made me healthy again. I was kept in the dark, and found out they planned to keep me for a month, even though the only reason I was there was to improve my legs. It felt like a prison, where you're kept in a confined space. My wife had to come and take me out of there covertly. That's why I said the policies and practices suck.

I'm signing myself out I can't be here. I've had no care. The food is awful I have diarrhea. I've had no attention I got antibiotics for my kidney infection so I'll take the antibiotics on the prescription with me home. I have no products to take care of myself and no clean clothes. This place is a monster prison. There been three people that even talk kindly to me. The staff has been abusive verbally and emotionally I believe they are delighted to be evil and cause people pain. I need to accept that people work with the elderly to dump their anger. So tired of this place.

Not only is the building new and well-maintained, with private rooms and bathrooms for each patient, but the quality of care truly stands out. The Director of Nursing makes a point to round on patients regularly, remaining visible and available for questions, concerns, and feedback from both patients and staff. That leadership presence carries over to the frontline nurses, who consistently treat patients with empathy and compassion--qualities that can be lacking in many other SNFs. The food is also impressive. It may not be a five-star restaurant, but even as a family member, I found the meals enjoyable and something I wouldn't turn away. Like any facility, there are opportunities for improvement. Therapy services at times seemed to be provided at a minimal level, likely reflecting staffing and workload challenges--an issue I recognize is not unique to this SNF. That said, I'm grateful my family member was able to maximize her rehabilitation. Her extended stay following an acute stay helped build her endurance, and she received excellent nursing care before being discharged home. As a family, we felt more prepared and better equipped to care for her. Now, she's slowly but surely thriving again. Thank you, Shadelands team, for being part of our journey!

This is a very mixed review. I would give Gene, the nurse…read morefrom the first floor a 10star. This man is so caring and amazing. My dad was there for several weeks and Gene knew my dad wasn't comfortable with female nurses bathing him. So whenever a female nurse was assigned to bathe my dad, Gene would volunteer to take my dad on top of the patients he was assigned to that day. Not many people volunteer to take on extra work. We are so grateful to him and this made it so much easier for my dad to bathe regularly. Otherwise he would refuse to bathe if it was a female nurse. Gene always greeted us with a smile. For patients, it's so important to see a smiling face when in a facility like this. God bless Gene and his kind heart. Another nurse who was hired towards the end of my dad's stay- (I don't remember his name but I remember he was from Afghanistan). He too was so kind and caring. He would check on my dad noticeably more than what we were used to, and hewas so attentive. It felt like he was family. The downside: They don't have an after hour number to call. You call the main number and NO ONE ever picks up. Once I was on FaceTime with my dad around 10:45pm while he was at this facility. He began having a seizure during our call. Between my husband and I, I think we called maybe 60-70 times from 10:45-4am. No one answered. We were out of state so we couldn't just drive over. Even if you drive over, at that time the front doors are locked and you call the same number for them to open the door... so if they aren't answering, it didn't matter if you are outside or not. I came back to CA the next day because I was so worried about my dad. I brought this to the attention of the nurses and was told that they don't have another after hour number to give me. They said they would leave a message for their supervisor to call me back... no one ever called me back despite me following up several times. My dad could have fallen off his bed and really hurt himself that night... and not being able to get through is a major concern and consideration if we ever need to put my dad in a rehab facility again. This is why I'm giving it a 2 star because not being able to get through to a nurse is concerning and puts patients at risk. We were lucky that nothing happened to my dad when he had his seizure but I basically didn't sleep that night and flew back the next morning at 6:30am, which could have been avoided if I was able to get through to someone when I called (& my dad didn't answer the phone either (because his phone had dropped to the floor) which made us think of the worst possible scenario). If something had happened to my dad, they would have been 100% liable, therefore, I just don't understand the reason behind it having an emergency number to call the nurses after hours... or make sure someone is assigned to the phones at all times. I doubt during the time all patients are supposedly sleeping, why phones aren't answered as nurses are more likely to be sitting at the desk than all of them being with patients the entire time (from 10:45pm-4am). Another issue is the constant ringing sound which is patients trying to get the nurses attention. I don't know how they sit there and just ignore the ringing for hours. The you hear people screaming for help which is very hard to witness. It is very concerning that patients can be yelling for help and no one shows up for a while. I know brings nurses at such facility is a very difficult job but these patients are basically relying on the nurses... as some can't even get out of bed by themselves. I am writing this because no supervisor or anyone ever got back to me. Hopefully this will bring it to their attention.
