My grandmother has been living here for about seven years and we all love it! My kids and I visit often. The staff all know us by name and are incredibly friendly and helpful. They take such great care of my grandma! The food here is great! We love visiting for meals. And they just held a family carnival that we all enjoyed. My kids call Byron Park "Oma's Castle." Recently I visited and toured Byron Park. Cheryl Laven was most welcoming and hosted us for a good three hours--lunch and tour of the facility. In that time our small group was able to get a good feel for what is offered in Byron Park.It was truly ALIVE with people conversing, eating, playing "balloon tennis", reading in the library..... wonderful art work covered the walls, the apartments were all bright and cheerful. It offers everything and more. What impressed me the most was the positive and stimulating atmosphere.....a large self-contained world in which one could thrive yet a small "old-school" feel of friendliness and caring. I am very unhappy about the lack of security my husband and I experienced when we were in assisted living at Byron Park. All of my jewelry was stolen. If a small safe had been provided this could have been prevented. The nursing care was adequate, although I had to get my disabled husband to the bathroom at night. We recently visited Byron Park and had a great experience. Maria Petrescu showed us the entire community and spent a long time answering all our questions. In addition, she called my in-laws, who live out of town, and walked them through the whole community via Zoom. She went above and beyond and was professional, warm, and positive showing us Byron Park. After a few visits, we found that the rest of the staff were just as positive, warm and friendly. We are impressed with the activities, beautiful outdoor area, happy hours, music, and more. My mother has been a resident at Byron Park for 2 months. She has a beautiful apartment that was completely renovated before she moved in. The staff is wonderful and cheerful. It is expensive. Residents have a lot of opportunities to participate in activities. My mother enjoys bingo and chair volleyball. Music is performed often and the room is packed. The building and outdoor patio areas are perfect. My mother needs more care than Byron Park can provide and will have to move. We are sad about that since we thought we had found the perfect place for her. read more

A couple of months ago my brother and I found ourselves looking for an assisted living care facility for our 105 year old mom. We were very positively impressed, and the good impressions started outside the large and modern building. We were greeted warmly and shown potential rooms, all of them bright and clean. The staff was uniformly gracious. We shared a lunch with a resident couple, and even our very fussy mom found the food excellent. One of the things that struck us most was the level of activity. People were out and doing things, involved, active, and engaged. We visited a number of facilities in order to find the best one for our mom, and Byron Park was heads above any of the others. read more

We went on a tour with Maria Petrescu and she gave so much information on the community and living environment. She took time with us and let us ask many questions and view many of the apartments. You could tell they were like a family there and the whole place had good vibes as soon as you walked in. Maria told us she knew everyone's names and stories and had amazing relationships already with the staff and the residents from just a few months of working there. The experience was truly one of a kind but to go beyond that is to speak on the consistent, family environment. The staff often go above and beyond for the residents and the residents often reflect their satisfaction through happiness--which is a pleasure to be a part of and see. GET INVOLVED WITH YOUR COMMUNITY ~ VOLUNTEER! I recently spent an afternoon at the Lafayette Reservoir for wonderful volunteer clean-up effort to celebrate Earth Day. The 3rd annual lunchtime cleanup was organized by with Hunsucker Goodstein PC and the Lafayette Chamber Green Committee. Byron Park provided lunch for all of the volunteers. They also provided a TON of volunteers! Byron Park is an assisted living community in South Walnut Creek. Residents may live independent of assistance or with varying degrees of assisted lifestyles. I talked to several of the seniors participating in our clean-up and thanked them for the lunch they provided. Fresh sandwiches on croissants, large, soft cookies, bags of sweet apples, and a variety of chips. It was thoughtful to include vegetarian sandwiches as well as all the other great ones. They spoke highly of their home community. At the end of the 2-hour clean-up I returned to the tables set up with ice cold beverages. Thank you for this, B.Park! We were so HOT and thirsty. My mom has lived here since September . Very $$$ they seem to have a lot of maintenance issues that they need to address. Boiler failure paper plates and silverware for weeks , now gas line break and again no oven foods etc . Given what the cost is and the age of the population they need to get it together and if they don't families will have their parents leave for sure . Overall disappointed in the property maintenance for sure !! read more

This review is based on the food served in the dining room and to tenants in their apartments. I have eaten there at least 50 times, my grandmother lives there and the food is horrible! She always complains about the food, it has no flavor. Half the time she and her friends don't eat it and have to end up drinking an Ensure meal shake so they don't starve. The people living there don't have much time left to live, eating is the only pleasure for most of them but they don't even get to have that! Drinking a meal replacement shake is a terrible way to have a meal. They charge the tenants $15 per meal, can't they at least give the food some flavor so these people can have a little enjoyment??? read more

We contacted Edrienne Baebler at Byron Park over a year ago to arrange a tour with our father and his girlfriend. Our visit there was pre-pandemic, so my very much-belated review of this spectacular facility will be reflective of that. While deciding on a time to visit, Edrienne remembered from our initial phone conversation that both our dad - as well as his girlfriend - are musicians, so she suggested coming to tour on a Friday afternoon, as Byron Park features a Happy Hour, along with live music on Friday's. Upon arrival, Edrienne took us to a private area where we could talk...we discussed what our father's current situation was, what he liked and did not like about it, and what would be important to him in planning a move from the home that he has built, and lived in for the past 60 years. (Our mother suddenly passed six years ago, so he has been living alone since.) His girlfriend's daughter was also in attendance, and we then talked about what she would be looking for. After a bit more conversation, she then took us around the facility - noting some of the amazing amenities that Byron Park has to offer residents there. Our father commented that he felt like he was "on a cruise ship", given the number, as well as the variety of all the offerings. He also noted that he liked the fact that you could choose to take part in the activities one day, and on other days, spend your time just enjoying the beautiful space. As we meandered down the hallways, on our way to look at one of the 2- bedroom units, we were greeted by not one, but EVERY SINGLE RESIDENT that we passed. The amazing and positive energy throughout the facility was undeniable. By the time we passed and were greeted by the fifth resident, I jokingly asked her (the resident) if Edrienne had slipped her $20 to be so happy and friendly...it was truly unbelievable how everyone - both staff and residents alike - made you immediately feel 'at home'. And that was the feeling we all shared, from the moment that we walked through the front door. The unit that we looked at was on the backside of the complex, backing to open space. Edrienne told us that it was quite common to see many forms of wildlife - all types of birds, deer, raccoons, wild turkeys, etc. - passing by at all times of the day and night. There was a private balcony that faced the open space, so our father really liked that, as he is used to enjoying privacy in the backyard of his current home. (Edrienne had also remembered that our dad very much enjoys the birds, as he currently has two large feeders in his backyard that he refills daily.) Edrienne's attention to detail and listening skills are second to none...she remembered things from both our first and second phone conversations that I had already forgotten. After we had finished looking at the unit, we then headed downstairs for their Friday Happy Hour. Again, many more "Hello's" and waves along the way. The staff at Byron Park was professional, yet also both very warm and friendly...it was obvious that they all took great pride in their work. Sitting on the patio outside, we were all admiring the beautiful flowers, landscaping, and impeccably maintained grounds. The live music that evening happened to be piano, which our dad's girlfriend particularly enjoyed, having been a concert pianist - as well as a piano teacher - for over 50 years. Looking around the room, we saw everything from a subtle toe tap, to others practically dancing in their chairs...again, the amount of positive and upbeat energy in the room was overflowing. Having enjoyed Happy Hour, we then headed to the dining room for dinner. That was the biggest, and the most unexpected surprise...it felt more like a restaurant - with servers, and even MENUS - our dad looked over and again said, "Wow, I really do feel like I'm on a cruise ship!" We each ordered something different (so as to try as many things as possible), and all agreed that the food was phenomenal. After dinner, Edrienne rejoined us and we went back to the private area to talk about our experience. She asked us several open-ended questions - what we liked, what we were impressed by, what our general feeling was - to which we shared the aforementioned. It was refreshing that there was nothing 'salesy' about any part of our interaction, no pressure to make an instant decision...just more caring and thoughtful discussion about what they were looking for in consideration of their move. Edrienne then explained that this was going to be "a process", and boy, was she right! Our father? Still in the same house, and has yet to make a move...yet, on more than several occasions, he fondly recalls our incredible experience at Byron Park. We can now only hope that when it is his decision to finally 'make the move', that he, too, will choose Byron Park. The staff that answer the phone are ditsy and not very bright. Recently, they informed me that an individual was in the building,but they were not sure where? The resident was actually (IN THE HOSPITAL)!!! I reported this immediately to one of the director's Theresa and she did not even bother to get back with me after she had her meeting with the other director or apologize. Don't be fooled by the attractiveness of the building. Its not a "beautiful place at Byron Park" as their initial greeter states if they can't find Grandma. read more

We are looking for a happy place for mom to live. She is still quite active, but keeping up her house is getting more difficult. I love that this community is centrally located in Walnut Creek. It will allow her to go out to her favorite restaurants. Mom will love the beautiful Mountain view's along with all the great activities. She will be thrilled to be able to continue her water aerobics classes and yoga right at the community that is a big PLUS! We both thought the outings looked like fun and its nice she won't need to drive. I really enjoyed talking with the employees I met. It seems like a great place to live! read more

The help and waitstaff at Byron Park are friendly and professional. They greet each resident by name and I witnessed first hand an extremely respectful kitchen worker. One of the residents called to order two meals brought to their room and the woman on the kitchen phone was very patient, repeated options several times and waited quietly while the resident made their choice, this all happened at the peak of the busy lunch hour. That incident showed a lot about the consideration of the employees, especially the kitchen staff. read more

I don't live here nor any of my elder family but what I am is a would have been a weekend employee. I applied and got accepted and I told the interviewer that I just got a brand new full time job and I only needed a weekend job and she said it's fine but i needed to do the background / fingerprint print ( the normal onboarding stuff) within 72 hrs but the operating hours of The office to do this was Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm which was on the paper that they gave me. I told her right away I cannot do it in 72 hrs because I am still training at my new regular job from 9am to 6pm. so I asked my brand new boss and was told I could come to work late the following Wednesday. I communicated this with Byron 's HR. but they receded the job offer cuz it's over the 72 hrs -eventhough I have called and left the HR multiple times but I totally understand- but what I don't understand is the tone that Christina the HR person used. I mean jeez if you are the " HR" and you talk like that? Can you Imagine how management talk to their employees here? I'm here for is to tell future employee DO NOT apply here CHRISTINA the HR in this place is the rudest person who ever talked to me - her tone is very condescending- by the way this job is $16.50 an hour and she'll treat you just as cheap. I have a very good paying full time job but needed something to do on a weekend and wanted to be around elders as I grew up with my grand parents. There's a lot of assisted living in the area but PLEASE do not apply here or you will have to deal with their HR who is th rudest person ever to talk to me. I believe things happen for a reason and I'm happy that my job offer was receded cuz I cannot imagine having to deal with Christina . read more

I needed to find a residence for my 90 year old father pretty quickly as he was moving up to be closer to us. Byron Park was able to show me 3 apartments within 24 hours of my request and made arrangements for my dad to move in 3 days later. They were flexible, patient and so kind to all of us, especially my Dad. The residence is very well maintained, the apartments are clean with all the modern touches. Food is yummy and all the staff from cleaning to food service to front desk and to management are exceptional. Thank you BP! read more

This is an update to the one-star review I wrote on 6/10/2018. Byron Park did send my $5,000 refund to me via overnight mail (which I received on 6/13/2018) and promised to look into why my refund had been delayed. Thank you Yelp, and Chris C. and Jennifer. If not for the refund issue, I would have given Byron Park four stars, because the people that work at the front desk, the wait staff, the maitre D', the activities coordinator, the bus drivers, the janitors and handy-persons are all extremely helpful, professional and courteous to the people who live there. The facility is also very nice and well maintained. My mother-in-law was there for three years (ending in 2016), and I was impressed enough with the aforementioned employees and facility to want to send my own mother there had her health not deteriorated. The reason I would not have given Byron Park five stars, even without the refund problem, was the food. While my mother-in-law was there, the quality of food worsened from okay/good to okay/poor. They had some sort of corporate reshuffle that impacted kitchen staff, and the new menus were not as tasty or as varied. My wife and I ate there every two or three weeks, and we did not enjoy the food much after the reshuffle. And my mother-in-law, who was a vegetarian and who was promised vegetarian options before we moved her into Byron Park, was often limited, after the reshuffle, to a garden burger or a grilled cheese sandwich for her entree. I do not know if they have improved the menu since 2016. read more

Our aunt has lived at Byron Park for many years. She was just recently moved into assisted living after a health crisis. We were able to quickly move her because of all the wonderful assistance we received from the acting director down to the front desk help. It was truly amazing how much we learned so fast and if we needed someone to help in the interim, the staff had great recommendations including how to find the movers. The atmosphere is charming. We are so glad that our aunt found this place years ago through a friend. read more

OMG! This place I just cannot thank enough and I want everyone to know how special everyone living here is treated!! I just attended their New Year celebration and it was amazing! The activity manager Kate is just an incredible asset to this place!! For the New Year celebration she played the piano and had her daughter sing. It was a very personal touch as Kate knows all the residents on a very close level! They hired a casino crew for Black Jack, Poker, and Roulette! I played next to several residents and everyone was treated well and had lots of fun!!! The dinner was stake and lobster and that was amazingly good! The chef came out and introduced himself and the personal touch was given. The food is always great but this special dinner was just perfect! Every meal taste great and the staff is genuinely polite and treat all the residents on the highest level! Should I say any more? Our mom loves the service she gets living here!! The food, activities, extremely kind mannerism, excursions, and the how well ALL gusts are treated when visiting their family resident! We are all extremely pleased with all. Thank you Byron Park for your great management, staff throughout, chef, and everyone I did not mention! If you are thinking of having a family member live here look no more! They have a Happy Hour on Friday nights and all the residents look forward as many are dressed up. It is fun as music is usually played and then the residents get their personal service for dinner! PERSONAL SERVICE is what Byron Park offers!! It is located in the perfect location for easy access to all freeways and Downtown Walnut Creek!
