Really authentic Korean food from someone who lived in LA for 10 years! Pricing is average. Went for lunch with friends. Would go again.

I stopped here 2 nights ago for dinner by myself. For no reason in particular I had Korean food on my mind and I happened to find Woori on Yelp. This is a non assuming restaurant in the cute town of Arlington. I actually ended up entering through what may have been the wrong side of the restaurant to find a clean looking place with avocado green walls and seating for ~35. Almost all of the tables were full and everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves so I was happy with my pick. On this evening I decided to go with the Spicy squid bimbimbap. My banchan came out first and was comprised of 5 small dishes. Of the ones I recognized were some cucumbers and Kim chi along with a few other pickled vegetables. Meanwhile my bimbimbap came out not too much later consisting of mushrooms, bean sprout, carrot, spinach, rice and squid all topped with a fried egg and maybe some seaweed. They also brought out some chili paste which I was thankful for. The first item that I ate ended up being the squid and I was disappointed to find it overdone. Thankfully the rest of the bowl was cooked nicely and with the addition of the chili paste I really loved it all. Of course my favorite part was the crunchy rice that came from the bottom which I had to scoop off with a spoon. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. The food was good, but they might be better served keeping their menu traditionally Korean. There is a small plate menu, but the small plates all add up. We tried the spicy rice cake skewers and the mung bean pancakes. Both were good, but I especially liked the crispyness of the pancakes. The pork belly was tasty, but you had to get past the top layer of fat. I don't mind it, but my two sons (who usually like pork belly), were turned off by it. We also ordered bibimbap, which arrived in a steel bowl. It wasn't the stone pot, but had some mild burnt effect to it. One and done - will not be back. We were searching for a go-to Korean restaurant, as our favorite local Korean restaurant sadly closed and were excited to try Woori, given the good reviews and proximity. We recently dined here and it will be an experience that we will never forget, in a bad way. First, the food. I understand that these are difficult times, but there's a lot of nickel and diming here. Banchan is not included, which is a first for us and being Korean-American, we've dined at Korean restaurants all over the country. We decided to order the banchan ($5 for 5) which included fish cake strips in mayo (not good), seasoned broccoli (pretty good - my favorite), Western cabbage kimchi (ok), and another which I can't remember (they ran out of the fifth one, so we had to double up on one). We love cucumber kimchi, so we ordered that as well, which was not good. It seemed like they just coated cucumbers with bibimjang rather than preparing it the typical way. We were not fans of this variation. For appetizers, we ordered fried mandu with meat (good) and the fried seaweed roll, which was sweet potato noodles wrapped with seaweed and deep fried (not good). For the mains, we ordered kalbi (ok - lacked seasoning) and japchae (ok). Next, the service. Our waitress was fine, our real issue was with the other server (male). We just placed our order and he came up to us with this irritated and angry look on his face and said our daughter was being too loud while pointing at her very rudely. She was just talking in a normal voice. There was a table with a crying baby near us, and he said nothing to them. We were totally shocked and almost left right then. We didn't want to make a scene in front of our kids and ultimately continued with the meal since we already ordered. Thankfully she and our other kids were oblivious to what happened. However, the Mr. and I were furious and this ruined what turned out to be a very lackluster and disappointing meal. Excellent food. My family got the beef bibimbap, Kalbi, bulgogi and all was great. The kalbi had a good amount of short rib meat to it. The flavors were nice also on the chicken skewers. Mung bean pancake was sub par (too thick and lacked the bean sprouts). But otherwise definitely recommend. read more

We love their food, but was very very disappointed to see how very unclean the restaurant was today, at 7:30pm on a Saturday! The floors, the tables, the chairs, everything was dirty. Good Korean food is hard to find in the Boston area, but Woori definitely eases my longings for Los Angeles Koreatown. The bibimbap comes in metal bowls, not stone. Don't be fooled though, the bowl will definitely burn you if you touch it. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to hold heat long enough to dear the bottom of the rice. Other than that, the bibimbap is excellent, with a good balance of egg, tender meat, cool, fresh, vegetables, and rice. I've had the lunch vegetable bibimbap (the lunch specials were a good discovery- nice portion and price). Fresh and tasty. Add sauce to taste. Runny egg on top (tell them if you want it cooked more). The spicy crispy chicken is awesome. Prepare yourself for the heat! Prices are a little on the higher side, and the food takes about 20 mins to be prepared for take out. read more

How did it get 4 stars? Maybe im spoiled by the tofu pots from Allston and Chinatown? 1. The wrapping for pick up is poor, got soup spilled over everywhere and polluted my car 2. Menu have some changes, not all items are available... the potato pancake with seafood is really good, chewy and tasty but kind of overprice because the pancake is smaller than other pancake. Nothing special about the crispy rice cake, but crispy at all except chewy. The love fried beef is really crispy, even you fried the golden brown, the beef is not dried at all, its juicy and crispy. Kimchi stew taste good when you mixed up with rice but when drinking the stew itself, it just like drinking the spicy sauce itself. read more

I haven't tried many Korean restaurants in the Cambridge area yet but this place is legit. The food tasted very authentic, like my grandmother is in the back conjuring up a storm of goodness. The menu is in all English.. quite weird for a Korean establishment. I really think they should write out the dishes in Korean as well since I had to ask what every thing on the menu was in Korean, I mean spicy beef stew could be anything, right? The ban chan was really good, seasoned well, not salty and just tasted good. I ordered the pork katsu and my sister ordered the beef tofu soup and we had no complaints about either. The service from the young waiter was good, very friendly and attentive. They've only been open for a little more than a year I think but they have a good thing going. Be prepared for the higher costs though, kinda expensive for Korean food. read more

This is my family's favorite Korean restaurant. Their side dishes are homemade and always fresh and delicious. I'd recommend that you check this place out for lunch and come back for dinner. As a Korean, I can be very picky when it comes down to Korean food/restaurant and I have not been disappointed with this place. Pretty much you can order anything on the menu and expect it will be super tasty. A lovely little family business with such delicious food. I especially love the bibimbap and the potato pancakes, but everything I've gotten has been quite tasty. Had the beef bulgogi, I picked it up today after waiting a few minutes at the restaurant. My food was not particularly flavorful, portion was pretty tiny, and my food was lukewarm. I'm not sure why this place has such good reviews, I'm not sure that I'll go back despite living a stones throw from it. read more

This is not the first time we came to this restaurant. Last time we were here was about three years ago. I do not know what, maybe we have been to so many very good Korean restaurants since then and our standards become so high, or maybe they have changed the chef. The dishes we had were not as good as what we expected. We ordered soft tofu stew with seafood, Kalbi, and spicy pork. They were not too bad. However, the egg in soft tofu stew was overcooked. This is by far my favorite Korean restaurant. They call it Korean fusion which means unique appetizers and banchan (those awesome small side dishes that come with Korean food) and traditional Korean dishes done to perfection. Expect al the usual favorites: bibimbap, bulgogi, stews (kimchi, soft tofu...) chicken, salmon and Kalbi. The quality of food is outstanding and everything is always fresh and delicious! The service is always top notch, friendly and attentive staff,the owner seems to always be there making sure everything runs smoothly. The value is incredible! By far the best place to get lunch in Arlington. Their lunch specials at $11 include rice, lettuce leaves (to use as taco shells) a mini-appetizer and their famous banchan appetizers! My current favorite is the salmon lunch combo with the crispy rice cake! It's so good. On cold days I often order the kimchi stew with pork. And their bibimbap never fails to deliver. I have meant to give this place a great review for a long time, as I've been coming here for several years -- they deserve five stars for sure!! read more

Overall a descent experience but the food is not all that exciting. The restaurant is very casual to the point of looking like a kindergarten classroom with kids toys and finger paintings on the wall. Great for families but not the place to bring your date on the weekend. Kimchi pancakes were delicious but not offered with seafood which was disappointing. The bibimbab and bulgogi were good but needed more seasoning and wish the bulgogi was sliced a bit thicker. Not terrible food but if your looking for exceptional food and a sophisticated night out, I'd try some place different. read more

This is the only place in the Boston area that I've tried that does bon chon right--always at least 5 types, with some classics and a couple experiments. It's a tiny bit fusion-y and hip, in a way that would be right at home on a back street in daechii--it's definitely proudly Korean food but it is highly aware of western sensibilities. Spicy pork sauce scratches the itch, and the kimchi jeon has the right tang, just make sure you toss it in the skillet and crisp it back up if you're getting takeout. Tasty, but a little pricey. I had an enjoyable dinner at Woori. The kimchi jjigae was on point. All the the banchan side dishes were very tasty, though the servings were surprisingly small. You can always order more for free, so maybe the small portions are good to reduce waste. The stir fried pork belly was not prepared in a traditional way, but it was still very enjoyable. The food was good and I'll be happy to go again. The only downside is that prices are not a bit high for Korean comfort food. read more

I've been meaning to come here for years now! My daughter is taking coding classes in Arlington Center, and so we decided to come here for lunch. The kimchi jjigae was decent, standard, nothing extraordinary. I've tried making kimchi jjigae at home twice now and have been unsuccessful. Glad to know Woori makes a good one. What really stood out to me were the banchan. Honestly, that's my benchmark on whether a Korean restaurant is good or not, if they offer you enough banchan and how well they are made. My friend and I ordered Kalbi, seafood soft tofu, and miso eggplant. All very delicately delicious! The Kalbi is tender, juicy, and not over or undercooked. For the soft tofu dish, I ordered a non-spicy one to share with my friend, and it has been the most seafood-flavory soft tofu dish I've had in a long time! If there is something I wish to see, maybe the small dishes could be served earlier with faster refills. read more

It's billed as "fusion", but the menu is primarily Korean standards -- grilled meats, soups, noodles. The innovations are mainly on the appetizer side of the menu, with more unusual small plates such as thrice- cooked dumplings where the last cooking is being stir fried in spicy sauce. Meat is flavorful, portions are reasonable. Two major detriments. First, their gochuchang is very mild. We ended up asking for extra spice for our food, which was answered with ordinary sriracha. Second, no liquor license. The "street foods"in particular practically demand beer. This would be a three star review except that they're also very family friendly. There are toys and a play area so rambunctious kids can attend without disturbing a meal. A big help on this rainy night. Now get that beer license and we'll have a reason to come back! read more

Great spot in Arlington Center. The staff are really nice and attentive. The food is on point. I've been twice so far - once for dinner and once for lunch. I would definitely recommend lunch. The prices are great for lunch and is a huge portion! More limited menu but still a lot of variety. I've tried the: Potato Pancake (pretty good but probably not worth the $10) Soft Tofu Stew Soybean paste stew Beef bibimbab All were very good and hit the spot on a cold day. I love the fact that they give you endless side dishes and that they change every day, the waitress said. The bimbimbap was delicious! HMarts come in clay pots with crunchy rice on the bottom, a little cheaper and serve you much more but you only get two side dishes and they are the same always. It is $11 for this bowl. It is served cafeteria style so it is not as traditional. I saw many Koreans eating here, the decor was great and staff was super sweet. The cucumber limbo was delish as well as all the other side dishes. Will def come back. read more

The number of times I've been here is both embarrassing and indicative of the quality of this restaurant. Pretty sure the servers recognize me at this point. Cute local joint for actually good Korean food. I like the vibe of the place - very homey and casual, great for low-key lunch dates and dinners. The decor is really cute. The portions may not look large at first, but they are filling and delicious. The last time I was here (two days ago haha) the waiter offered to refill our banchan, which was nice and does not come at an extra charge. My favorite food picks include the crispy rice cake (SUPER Q and crispy/chewy texture I have yet to find elsewhere), dumpling soup (I really like sesame oil), soft tofu stew, kimchi stew, spicy pork, and kalbi. Their lunch sets are a good deal. I like that their side dishes are a little different each time I go - it shows that they care enough to change them up, which makes it more likely in my opinion that they make it themselves. The service here is always good. They are nice and accommodating, and take the time to explain and answer questions if you ask. They also put in heating fans during the colder months, which is very convenient. I'll probably be back here soon as per usual. read more

For full disclosure, my girlfriend knows the owner here. However, as an unbiased yelp reviewer, I am not letting that alter my review. After being disappointed with a few Korean places in Allston and Somerville, I decided to check out Woori because i was told the food was solid here. My AirBnB host in Arlington even recommended the place. We ordered the mungbean pancake with pork, crispy rice cake and kalbi. The mungbean pancake was a bit overcooked (dry) but still okay. The crispy rice cake was really crispy on the outside (yet still gooey on the inside). The sauce wasn't too spicy nor too sweet; it was just right. In terms of kalbi at restaurants, maybe i'm a snob, but i'm used to boneless kalbi. It seems like all restaurants in the Boston area serve LA Kalbi (with the bone). I don't mind it. Actually the kalbi here is better than your typical LA Kalbi places, which tend to slice it thin. The kalbi here were thick cuts, so it was still juicy on the inside. I'd def come back for the kalbi and rice cake. The banchan here is fresh and tasty too. Def tastes like it's homemade. read more

Love this place! The radish roll was so delicious especially if you're an all things pickled lover like myself. The spicy squid isn't too spicy and delicious. Their bibimbap is solid and is served in a metal bowl that still gets the rice nice and crispy on the bottom. The service was kind enough. The house banchan had a sweet cabbage kimchi, pickled beet/celery/radish, plain steamed broccoli, and very strangely pasta salad which was perplexing and relatively unappetizing. The best part of dinner was how clean the restaurant was including the restrooms and the spicy kimchi. One thing to possibly improve is maybe bumping up the heater. Couldn't feel my toes.
