Wifey and I wanted Jjangmyeon but noticed they do a combo with a couple of other dishes. One is a spicy Korean seafood ramen (jjjambong) and the other is tangsuyuk, a batter fried meat in a sweet and sour sauce and veggies. The Jjangmyeon was fine, not the best but not awful. The jjambbong was really good, if you aren't a spicy person, then become one because you won't be able to handle it. The spice level is more medium than mild, but def not hot. The tangsuyuk wasn't very good. read more

On a Tuesday evening at 7 p.m., I decided to get a quick dinner before shopping at H-Mart. This time, however, was anything but quick. It took 25 minutes to prepare my order - quite unacceptable for a supermarket cafeteria hall. My order was also automatically put into a to-go container; usually, the cashier asks. The jjampong itself remains unchanged. The soup base had the distinct flavor of wok-sauteed vegetables (wok-hei / 鍋氣), contained enough seafood stock, and had a filling portion size. I can see where they cut costs - namely, using small shrimp (the sort normally used for pasta salads). The price has gone up considerably in the past year, from $12.99 to $15.95. Initially, my opinion of this place was that of a solid no-frills dining option next to a supermarket. Nothing special, but it got the job done quickly and affordably. This is my go-to place whenever I visit H-Mart food court. We usually visit on weekends and the lady that's always there is so friendly and nice. Very willing to provide extra pickled radishes or to go boxes, or whatever else we might need. It is a food court, and it can get busy, so I'd suggest getting here earlier if you want a table fast as it's first come first server, like any food court. We always get the half and half, whether it be jjajang-tangsooyook or jjamppong-jjajang or whatever else. The portions are great, as you can see in the photos. But the flavor is really good too. Especially on the jjamppong, we love the soup and the noodle. The soup has a kick to it without being overly spicy and has all the flavors of the ingredients infused into it. The noodle soaks up the soup nicely too. And there's a ton of seafood in it as well. Whenever we can, we always get the fried dumplings or goonmandu as well and they are amazing. They are so crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. They pair really well with the food. The tangsooyook is also really good in that the sauce isn't too sweet or tangy and the fried pork in it are also very crunchy. We like this place much better than the one down in Boston, which works out since we can just shop at the H-Mart too (and pick up some delicious egg toast from Oh-K Dog to go). read more

Craving black bean noodles, I wanted to try it here since I had some shopping to do. I ordered it to-go since I was still numb from a prior dentist appointment just minutes before. The food was microwaved the next day because I ended up getting distracted and eating something else for dinner instead. All leading up to the noodles being not so satisfactory when I finally got to it. It tasted like caramelized onion with tiny pieces of what I presume to be beef in it. Overall, it wasn't bad but not great. I definitely advise to eat it fresh and go for the option where they add seafood or beef to it. Given it was $12, I think it was fairly priced. Might come to try other items from their menu. read more

This place is really a 4.5 star place but thats not an option. I eered on the side of 5 full stars...read on to understand why. Ambiance: This place is in the food court of HMart in Burlington. It get very busy here, especially on weekends. Finding a seat for 2 is difficult, nevermind seating for our party of 4. Thats not their problem though. The restaurant stall itself looked organized and the menu was clear and easy to understand. Service: It was good. The lady took my initial order of the King Buns and the credit card machine had problems. She put my order in and let me pay later after they reboot it. I ended up coming back to order 2 other meals anyways. Food: It was excellent! I started with the king buns, hoping they were juicy buns like xiao long baos, but she said no, they are just meat buns. I ordered it anyways and the size was worthy of the "king" moniker. I wouldn't say they had any juice inside, but a there is a tasty piece of meat mixed with glass noodles and other ingredients. A little on the dry side, but its only like $6.99 for 2 of them and it was worth a try for me. The sweet and sour pork is $20 with no rice, but it was so good to me. They put the sauce on the side, which is really appreciated as it meant every single piece of pork was crispy! Really looking forward to ordering this again. We also got this other dish which is a combo of jia jiang mian noodles and a seafood noodle soup. Both of these were excellent as well! The wife thought the seafood soup was on the spicy side, but I thought it was perfect for those that like some kick in their soup. Other thoughts: - Food takes some time to cook here...understandable for anyone that has worked in an asian restaurant and know that fried pork takes time. Its definitely something you want cooked well and not under cooked. - To get a table here for dining in, you almost have to stalk and hover over others as they are near completion of the meal. You need to watch out for other hawkers who may try to claim the table you've been waiting on. - The sweet and sour pork is pricey at $20 and comes with no rice, but its large enough to feed at least 2 adults. read more

This restaurant is pretty good for being in a food court. All their items are displayed on a board over the ordering counter which makes it easy to decide on what you want to eat. We got the Jjamjaamyeon and it was a half and half of the black bean noodles and the spicy seafood soup. The black bean noodles were well seasoned - mainly they weren't super salty. A lot of places make it WAY too salty and you end up with no black bean flavor. The spicy seafood soup was extremely spicy but had a nice amount of seafood, including whole shrimp which a lot of places skimp out on. We also got the tangsuyuk and the portion was very large. Went there with an old school friend who works in the same company. We shared "Bokum Jambong". It far exceeded my expectations for a food court. Furthermore, my friend kept on pointing out the ample seafood ingredients used (Large & Small Shrimp, Muscle, Squid, ...). Definitely will go back to try other dishes based on this experience. It's my favorite place for jajiang, black bean sauce, noodles. The noodles have a nice chewy texture and the sauce is very flavorful. Their homemade king dumplings are delicious and a must try. The lady who worked there was very friendly and attentive. read more

we got the Ja Jang ($7.99) and Jjamjaa Myun ($10.99), which is half ja jang/half jampong and a Poland spring ($1.00). they use MSG b/c my stomach told me the next day. Ja jang is watery and the noodles tastes cheap The jampong tastes like ginger (on 2 separate occasions). doesn't taste good. they took about 10 mins to make it and they didn't have other customers so i expected something special. Might be some of the worst Korean food we've ever had. The woman tried to upsell my husband from the chicken to the shrimp. He thought it was for both. She actually said it was. It was a plate of fried shrimp, but not battered in breadcrumbs, just cornstarch. Gummy and gross. I would describe the flavor as "vinegar." The meal was about $28 and barely edible. Kkanpunggi is is spicy garlic fried chicken stir-fried with vegetables and a sweet, sour, spicy sauce. No sweet, only sour, no vegetables and the rice was extra. A waste of time and money. read more

I ordered Yang Jang Pi the other day. The prices went up about a year ago and I understood why, but the portion has been cut in half from what I could tell recently. For $28 plus tax and a total of $32 the amount of food was disappointing. I think they are under new management. My boyfriend loves the ja-jang noodles! I usually order it to go for him. The black bean sauce comes in a small container separate from the noodles, you just pour it on top of the noodles and stir when your ready to eat. It kind of looks like humungous worms. I'm personally not a big fan of it. Its good, but nothing I would ever crave for. I made my friend try it once and he said "it tastes like an asian version of chef boyardee". This is a hidden gem inside the food court of H-Mart , which is amazing in its own right. If you want a proper meal even after all the H-Mart free samples (on weekends only), this is the place to go. The owner specializes in flour-based foods (I swear this sounds much better in Chinese), such as noodles and buns. There is something to be said about an owner who proudly displays his craft for all to see. The owner makes these pork and vegetable buns right behind the counter and they are absolutely delicious! Also worthy of mention is their jap chae, which is cooked fresh each time. Even if I'm not hungry, I order the buns and jap chae to go because they're that good! read more

Went there because of the raves. The brown sauce carried the rancid aroma of burnt fatty grease from the bottom of a pan. Not a big deal... the guys must have rushed and put the flame on too high or forgot to use the heat diffuser. The manager brought back another bowl and gave me a puzzled look when I gave him the same complaint. He told me that this time, he 'scooped from the top'. :) LOL . . OK, so he tells me that he'll make me a fresh 'gan jajang' instead. Great. Comes back with the SAME burnt aroma. Clearly, the cook tossed some fresh onions and scooped the same sauce from the communal 'burnt pot' instead of making it fresh. What's the point? Lots of effort but . . . not really. I don't need the smiles and the shuffling around. If you BURNED your sauce, take the short loss for the day and make a fresh batch. Is this really a big deal? It was surreal to watch a bunch of families just dig right into this burnt mess. read more

I came here for a quick lunch before doing some grocery shopping. It's been awhile since I've had Ja Jang noodles and coincidently, the last time I had them was in an H-Mart in Vancouver. Ja Jang noodles may not be the most visually appealing dish but it is simple & delicious. The noodles, which according to the restaurant sign are homemade, are covered in a black bean sauce with small bits of pork, onions and peppers. There aren't a lot of veggies in this dish as it's mainly noodles & sauce but it's really good so I thoroughly enjoyed it. read more

One of my favorite joints to grab Ja jang noodle - black bean noodles. After watching all the korean dramas, I DROOL for jajangmyun. **slurp slurp. Even my dog is IN LOVEEEE with the noodle (yea, I give my 9 year old dog human food lol). I've recently tried "jengbanja jang" which is the same as jajangmyun but with seafood. It is delicious! I was expecting it to taste fishy but nope, it is YUM YUM. The seafood tastes fresh too. Another new dish I've tried is "bokumjam pong" which is sort of similar to the previous dish, but instead of using the blackbean sauce, it's SPICY. There is also seafood in it. If you guys like seafood, you would really enjoy these dishes! The guy who works at the cashier during dinner would bring the meal to your table (very kind), but during lunch there is a woman working. She doesn't, you have to pick it up yourself. read more

I love the HMart food court and this place has very good food. I tried the combo with the spicy seafood noodle soup and the noodles with black bean sauce. It came in this cute deep soup dish, with a partition in the middle for each entree. The soup was delightfully spicy with a decent amount of seafood that didn't taste rubbery or frozen. I am generally not a fan of black bean sauces but this one had an earthy thickness that was addicting. The noodles were chewy with a great texture and the sauce covered them well. I would probably order it again actually. The price was a bit higher than expected but the quality of the food is there. I will be trying other dishes such as the fried chicken and the dumplings. read more

I tried the Jjam Jja Myun, which is half ja jang and half jampong. It was pretty good. I like the jampong more as it is spicy, but not too spicy. They gave me plenty of seafood. I think ja jang is ok, as I like spicy more than sweet. The food is fast too. read more
