And I was left singing Woop, I did it again I went to Beachwood, got lost in the Mall Oh baby baby Woop, you think I'm at home But I'm sipping Bubble Tea at Woop I'm not that innocent! 2.5 star average? Are you kidding me? I was going to give 5 anyway but definitely now. Holy underrated Boba, Batman! Cleveland is a city that doesn't really have any good bubble tea. Nothing remarkable anyway. Koko might be the best one. Or Phusion. But honestly, Woop is as good as anything else. Specifically the honey tea which is great. I can't vouch for the others, but I will definitely give it a nice healthy 5 star rating because I did enjoy it and we'll be going back to try it again at some point. Me and the girl that did the mall tour with me. Woop has really yummy honey tea, which is as good as anything at Koko or Phusion, the top spots for BT in CLE. The only negative comment I have is the long, argumentative response to the 1-star review. I agree, the 1-star reviews of this place suck, and may even be fake in a couple of cases. But this business is forgetting the golden rule. Do not call out your customers in public. Do not say their review is "written inappropriately." Do not get into public arguments with them. Ever. At all. Why? Because, nobody is really going to read that silly review anyway, or take it seriously. But you know what they will read and take seriously? A business owner response. If you sound argumentative or aggressive or annoyed in a response, it can (and will) really put people off. Remember. There are 1,000,000 clueless customers out there and some will write Yelp reviews. But there is only one owner of a business (or so). And you want to make sure that the personality you put forward publicly has class, confidence, with zero drama and zero negativity. My advice to business owners is either do not respond to negative reviews, or, if you must, then be like Gandhi or Martin Luther King or Mother Teresa when you do. Peace and understanding. One of the only bubble tea places at Cleveland along with Kung Fu Tea. Woop bubble tea is just a simple stall located inside of a mall at Beachwood. It's cloyingly sweet, and I would rather support a chain like Kung Fu Tea than come to a local bubble tea place like Woop. I ordered the Rose milk tea without tapioca. It was super sweet that I imagine I grew a cavity when I drank all of the tea. My boyfriend on the other hand could not even finish the bubble tea he ordered because it was too sweet. The staff were unfriendly and sullen. Watching them work would make you want to drag your feet too. The bubble tea from this place was awful. From the service to the drink, I was highly disappointed. Both my drinks were Luke warm. I was not expecting a refreshing mango tea to be warm. 1 star for both product and customer service. Awful and not worth the $4+ for essentially sweet milk with no discernible flavor whatsoever. I ordered a matcha and right away I was worried when it wasn't even green. Truly, it was white like milk. I took one sip and asked the associate to make me another one when my suspicions were confirmed. She didn't say anything, chucked it and then proceeded to do the exact same recipe. So I ended up with the same terrible drink. And she didn't speak to me the entire time, ask if it was any better, or just generally make any effort to acknowledge me. Cleveland has been slooooowwww in catching up with this trendy Asian drink phenomenon that's been so popular in both coasts and some of the more diverse inland metropoleis. It's been introduced in limited fashion as an "add-on" menu item by more and more businesses - mainly Asian restaurants - within the past few years to try and satisfy the increasing demand for it and capitalize on its popularity... but NONE have really put any serious effort into producing a proper and quality boba or bubble tea drink... until recently by a certain establishment in University Circle's Uptown. After many trips to the West Coast and Toronto, I personally had the idea of pioneering real boba in Cleveland over ten years ago. I didn't end up taking the thought seriously enough as I did not believe CLE was ready for it back then. The increased diversity coupled with the resurgence of the downtown and uptown areas within the last couple of years, Cleveland certainly is ready now. A couple of years ago, I revisited my idea and made several trips to the West Coast and NYC to research boba cafes and met with consultants and potential distributors to introduce this to Cleveland. I visited MANY cafes and sampled MANY drinks, accidentally becoming sort of a boba connoisseur. Having trouble finding the right partners, I put my idea on hold again. Was excited to find another Bubble Tea joint pop up... in Beachwood, of all places. Upon sight, of course, I had to try it. I tried two of their drinks: a taro milk tea, and a coconut milk tea. What I liked: Their pricing includes 2 toppings. What I didn't like: They ran out of pudding. Although I've had worse, the consistency of the boba was a bit hard, like they were not fresh. Definitely not the best bubble tea that I've ever had. The teenage worker is appropriately apathetic for someone working inside of a mall in the early evening. Didn't really have any suggestions from the menu. I ended up choosing the Taro milk tea with tapioca bubbles because it's usually a pretty safe bet for me. My views on the tea stand with most other reviewers - it's sickeningly sweet. Like overwhelmingly, wow I have diabetes now, sweet. I don't think there was any sweetness options like many bubble tea spots, so take that as the default. I'm sure some people like it that way. I definitely don't. But underneath all of that, the taro flavor was alright. The bubbles were somehow off as well - strange in texture. Not quite as firm as I'd like them, and a little film-y feeling. For a quick fix on the east side, I think that this place is okay overall. If you're in the mall, it's convenient and not terribly priced. My daughter and her friend ordered bubble tea yesterday from Woop! and was told it would at be least 30 min for their drinks because they ran out of the tapioca pearls. When I was told this, I went up to the store and said that we cannot wait that long. I recommended microwaving the bobas like some other stores do. After the employee microwaved them for a while ( not sure how long) and said "we cannot sell these to you" even though we said we'll take them (as we had already paid for the drinks) and proceeded to throw them down the drain . The good thing is they agreed to give us our money back. Now if I was Woop! and wanted to get good reviews, they should arrive early to start cooking their bobas so they will be ready from their customers. Here's the thing, I've read the other reviews and I'm gonna say this, it's a kiosk in the mall, that is staffed by what I assume are part time seasonal employees, they are looking to make money not a career, could service have been better? Yes, seems like they didn't enjoy being there and didn't want to engage with customers, however i'm not there to make friends i'm there for less than 10 minutes and moving on with my day, does it bother me, no, some people I guess it does. My drinks were made correctly, and good, so I have no complaints. The wait time was rather long with only two people staffing. Was it worth the wait? Eh. My Thai tea had about five tapioca pearls since they ran out. I come here quite often, they make some of the best bubble teas in the city (want to give them 5stars for that) usually I am met with courteous and friendly service. This past Friday was an atrocity. I walk up and the usual girl is there which is great I'm excited I love the way she makes my drinks even if I'm being a bit picky. There was someone new there, I've never seen this girl before. She walked about the stand as if she was the manager, reprimanding and complaining about everything. It brought the mood of a few of us customers. Got the Regular Milk Tea and my friend got the Matcha Milk Tea - both of us agreed that this was far from a decent standard of bubble tea drinks. First of all, the tapioca (which in my opinion is the most important part of a good bubble tea) was a little too hard, and definitely had not been soaked in sugar long enough, if at all. Tapioca itself is supposed to be sweet and chewy, and both of these characteristics were missed. Second, my milk tea was a little too diluted. It tasted like sweet watery milk. On the contrary, my friend's matcha didn't taste like matcha at all - it just tasted like way too sweet watery milk.
