Stopped in for lunch after an appointment in the area. Had the two sushi roll maki lunch specials. Reasonable price. Peter our server was nice. He checked on us twice. The miso soup was good for a drizzly Friday afternoon. The salad was the typical ginger dressing and tasty. The sushi was very good. The restaurant has an outside door and a door into the strip mall area across from stone oven. It is a simply decorated place. Recommend for a quick tasty sushi lunch. read more

Pacific East has been around for years. My opinion is it's ok. I have friends who love it, but i don't think their sushi is as good others, especially Shuhei which is fresher and more adventurous. Good for lunch is your close to one but not a regular fan. read more

Very bad experience ... I ordered a noodle and chicken dish and the chicken tasted spoiled and I asked is they could take it back and bring me a fresh meal.. he took it back and claimed they made a new one but brought me out the exact same one. I told him that it is the same spoiled chicken and he denied it'. I said just take it off the bill I can't eat it and he refused to. So shady and to add insult to injury the sushi chef was shooting us nasty looks the entire meal for sending Back rotten food . Who ever said that the customer is always right ? read more

I came here for lunch while the Cleve. Hts location is being renovated. I immediately noticed the menu is different and abridged. I asked the waitress about it and she claims it's a totally "different company", "different owner". Not sure if that is true or whether it was just a misunderstanding. Regardless, I had the Sashimi Bento box. Everything was excellent. It did not have my favorite though...smoked tuna. The Soba noodles I ordered for my daughter was OK, cooked fresh--you could tell--but had the predominant flavor of asian 5 spice which was kind of odd. I added some soysauce to it and my daughter loved it. Overall, a nice place although I miss the other menu items of Cleveland Hts Pacific East. read more

Although the restaurant is small, the food is fresh and delicious and the staff is wonderful! Everyone was extremely attentive and friendly, they even offered sushi recommendations. They have a variety of rolls that they make fresh and all of the ingredients were great, but could have had a more expansive menu. Definitely a great lunch spot, we will be back! read more

I'm from Los Angeles and pride myself on having a good taste for fresh fish. I was told to try this chain and have only visited the Chagrin location but was immediately hooked! Fish was fresh and rolls were YUM! The nigiri was sort of hit and miss, but I understand this is not a coastal city and that means they don't have the luxuries a city in CA might have. I ordered the Bomb roll several times and it never failed. The Empire roll is also amazing if you like spicy tuna (also somewhat inconsistent w freshness but overall really GOOD!) I don't know why the reviews are so low. On one occasion I went with a group of coworkers, the service was fairly slow, but it looked like there was only one server. We were very understanding and still very pleased with the experience. Times are tough right now and this is a business that deserves some appreciation. read more

I not sure what complaints are. It's a local short drive. The sushi always tastes great. The service is always good. Sushi takes time. It's expected there is always a wait. Especially as place fills up. This is our local go to. And price wise it's always been fine. It's gone up per our last visit, but so has everywhere else. Bonus, you have little Eton square to walk around after you've filled up. read more

We travel all over the country and eat sushi frequently (especially on the west coast) so I have become a bit of a sushi snob--sorry, not sorry! I have had amazing sushi in Cleveland frequently. We ordered 4 rolls and the basic Philadelphia was my favorite. The fantastic tempura roll would have been good without the tablespoon of "special" sauce on top. We chose eel as our fish. --the sauce was sweet and would be good if drizzled. Reminded me of a dollop of sour cream on a potato! The empire roll was OK, it also had too much sauce though and felt like something was missing from the filling for flavor combo. The bomb roll was not bomb. The cucumber was incredibly over powering, this would have been delicious in a traditional wrap. Oh and the calamari was completely over cooked ‍ The service was good, she was very nice. Got the ocean roll last night, don't recommend unless you want to be hugging a toilet all night! Got some severe food poisoning, almost meriting an ER trip. Server was rude and purposefully sat us by the door in overflow seating while other seating was available, probably because we are teenagers and she expected low payment. Ambiance would have been nice inside the actual restaurant but we didn't get to experience that! read more

This place is just SSSSOOOOO bad nowadays. Based off of the texture of the sashimi escalor, it has clearly been frozen and thawed and frozen again. Maybe then blanched also? So mushy, I immediately gagged it out. I keep saying to not go. Maybe my family will finally listen to me. And even worse, how are they gunna fix this? Offer a credit..? So I can eat more mushy fish? Unfortunately for this location the gal at the cashier is nasty. The food is good, not inexpensive. We meet up at the mall every Tuesday usually spend 20.00 a person not including tip. I actually stopped tipping due to her rudeness. Today my friend asked for extra soy sauce I don't imagine soy is that expensive. They have it stacked up at the register she argued and said I put 2 in your bag. My friend said I'd like 2 more it was 2 orders. Begrudgingly the woman handed her 2 more solo cups. When she got back with the bag there was no soy in the bag. I went back she argued with me stating she put 2 in the bag and gave us 2 more. I said there were none in the bag she refused to believe me. Trust me I'm not a soy sauce thief there are better things to argue about. If I ate there the soy would be on the table I could drink it. I thought this pacific east would be better than the one on Coventry in Cleveland Heights. Sadly, they are both pretty bad. The taste of the sushi is probably one of the worst I've had. Something just always tastes off, no matter what roll I get. They also use way more rice in their rolls than any other sushi place I've ever been to. It's the closest sushi spot to me though, so whenever I crave sushi I'll still cave because of the convenience of location. I pretty much always regret it though. read more

I used to love Pacific East. They had amazing lunch specials and it was one of the better sushi places across the Cleveland area. However, my last experience here was extremely poor mainly due to the service, and I learned it's because they recently changed owners. They definitely have a lot of learning and improving to do to get it back to what it was. We ordered: the agedashi tofu & potstickers as an appetizer, a bunch of sushi & rolls to share, and my brother got the pork katsu as a main. The first thing that comes out is the pork katsu, even before the appetizers come out. When we asked the server about this, he came up with a bunch of excuses about the kitchen shift changing, before eventually admitting that the chefs just forgot to make our appetizers. With all of that, he never once offered to remedy the situation. We ended up waiting about 30 minutes to get our tiny tofu dish. I was also watching the sushi chefs make our sushi boat. They did it at such a glacial pace that some of the rolls had been sitting out for over 30 minutes before the boat was complete and ready to be served. I thought that was a little gross. The only redeeming factor was that the toro (fatty tuna belly) was surprisingly fresh and melted in my mouth. It's hard to source that cut in Cleveland so kudos to Pacific East for getting that in! read more

Easy-peasy ordering and pick up. Fresh and good. I like having a lunch menu option. I wasn't able to finish, I drank the soup (no spoon) and ate my salad first. Great service and great food! I thoroughly enjoyed the food here. Our table got sushi, eggrolls and dumplings for appetizers. As an entree we had the barbecue chicken as a meal to share. Not a comfortable restaurant with ineffectual service. We had to ask for menu explanations, real silverware, tea refills and other requests multiple times. The special blackboard features listed ten names which no verbal explanation about what these were. They only offer white rice, no brown rice. Nothing special about their offerings and every price on the menu had been written over in marker. The miso soup and a single six piece roll was unexciting and not at all filling for a dinner meal. But the waitress didn't encourage anything else to try. I like good quality sushi and this restaurant doesn't seem to feature it. read more

We have now enjoyed a few excellent lunches at Pacific East and found a new favorite place for our family. The food was delicious and the service was the best we have experienced in some time. The first time we went, our group tried Manhattan Roll, Crazy Tuna Roll, grilled scallops, Chicken Teriyaki, Chicken and Vegetable Tempura, and I had the Chicken Udon. For our second outing we tried the Manhattan Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, Green Dragon Roll, Chicken Katsu Agemono, Soft Shell Crab and Vegetable Tempura, and the Chicken and Vegetable Tempura. The restaurant is comfortable and delightfully cozy that allows one to take a welcome break and enjoy a meal. You can't go wrong with the sushi, but you may run out of space to try everything. The entrees are delicious and a lot of food, too. The staff is very helpful explaining the menu and often widening one's ideas of what to try. For instance, the Green Dragon Roll has eel, and was excellent, yet we never would have tried it had our waitress not recommended it. We always have some extra food to take home, but that is never a bad thing. Bon appetit! read more

This place is SO petty. Be ready to spend more than $100 on a meal for two. They recently increased prices and just wrote the new prices with sharpie on the menus...wow, talk about petty. Great sushi, great service! I ended up choosing the bento box with sashimi for lunch. The sashimi was very generous portions and very fresh. We were served by a very accommodating waitress, Mandy.
