They are very communicative, responding quickly to emails and questions and are helpful with insurance issues. The hygienists are friendly and thorough. Dr. Bae does my exams and recommended a crown replacement based on what she saw on the X-rays. She was not pushy and patiently explained to me exactly what she was seeing on the X-ray. I decided to move ahead, and they pre-authorized with my insurance and gave me a pre-pay discount, so I knew exactly what I was going to need to pay. She was very patient and gentle throughout the procedure. So far so good with the new crown! The offices are clean, modern and well located with a parking lot just next door (and street parking in front) - however it is metered.

I'm in my 50s and have no problems with my wisdom teeth other than a small cavity in the upper one. I went for a consult at Natich Family Dental and met Dr. Bhalla, their oral surgeon who recommended I have them all pulled. The experience was absolutely horrific. My expectation was either full sedation or at least gas. When I expressed that, I was told "well, this is how we do it." I was led to believe it would be "fine." It was NOT fine! Never should you do a procedure like that on an adult fully awake. I think I left in shock. Covered in sweat, shaking and white as a sheet. I will forever tell everyone I know not to have their wisdom teeth pulled as an adult and if they do, to go full sedation. I also called and sent pictures about a concern I had and Dr. Bhalla couldn't be bothered to call me back. I'm also mad at both my dentist and the surgeon for encouraging me to have them out at all. The top one had a cavity - that's what started it all. I ended up removing 3 perfectly healthy teeth and one that had a small cavity and really just needed a filling. If given all the info and if I could go back in time, I would NEVER have agreed to this course of action. It feels barbaric and like the whole thing was just to get money rather than taking care of patients.

However, multiple fillings I had done have cracked within 12 months. The new dentist I think perhaps is trying to market to a different clientele...while I was in the chair having a filling fixed, I was accosted to sign something on an iPad saying I would pay the bill lol. Every bill for the prior dentist I had paid immediately upon receiving. Also, how are you positive what my insurance is going to reimburse? I just felt it was tacky. I had a filling fall out and made an appointment to have it fixed. I show up, wait past my appointment and then am told that they were just going to look at my tooth, not fix it. After pointing out the girl on the phone assured me I could have it fixed, the dentist begrudgingly agreed to fix it. It was the most painful dental experience of my life. I also cannot chew on this tooth ever since. Lastly, I was told I had several teeth that needed fillings and was going to have those done. I switched dentists and my new dentist in Lynnfield assured me my teeth are healthy and do not need fillings...odd. I'm sad that I have to change my review because I did personally like the previous dentist, but based in the quality of the work of multiple broken new fillings, how the buyout was handled and quality of the practice since the buyout I wanted to update my review to more accurately reflect my experience

She too was on her game getting back with any concerns. The stay at Sturdy was longer than expected due to blood pressure but the nurses were so caring. They responded so quickly to the call button and were helpful. I was blessed to have Jakki, Marie, Richard, Liz and also Ashley. They are an outstanding group of nurses, CNA's and phlebotomist. I had a friend visit who is a RN and she commented on how well the floor seemed to work together and everyone was smiling. Impressive! Last but not least, the PT department shines. Will is such a warm, encouraging attribute to Sturdy. He was patient and truly cared about me while I was in his care. Thank you Will. His helper Tye was also very sweet. Overall I could not ask for a better team of caring professionals and would recommend Sturdy to anyone needing medical care.

Unfortunately, my interactions with her were uncomfortable and unprofessional. Throughout the discharge process, I felt talked down to and repeatedly corrected in a manner that came across as condescending rather than educational. Instead of making me feel supported as a new mother, I was left feeling uncomfortable, embarrassed, and as though I was being treated as if I were incapable of understanding basic instructions. One interaction that particularly stood out was when she demanded that I sit down while she stood over me to review the newborn medications and shots. The manner in which this information was presented felt intimidating rather than respectful and collaborative. Additionally, she repeatedly commented on how inconvenient it was that we were being discharged early and made several remarks implying that we should not expect to leave anytime soon. These comments created unnecessary stress during what should have been a positive and exciting transition home with our newborn. What is most concerning is that this was not my first experience with this staff member. I encountered Joyce B. two years ago following the birth of my first daughter, and I immediately recognized her when she entered the room. Unfortunately, the same negative demeanor and communication style were present during both experiences. Labor and delivery staff play a critical role during an emotional and vulnerable time for patients and their families. Compassion, respect, and professionalism are essential. While many members of the Sturdy Hospital team were wonderful, this particular interaction left a lasting negative impression on what should have been a joyful experience. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used to improve patient interactions and the discharge experience for future families.

Made us feel like a doctor with a soul who cares for their patients. Except the front desk staff were impatient! Then, I went to the main hospital on Mt. Auburn....front office, excellent. Administration staff, who record(ed) first-time visit to the hospital, wonderful too! Personable! Oh! The woman who did my blood work --Horrendous! She persistently dismissed my being combatively (and I hate to say this about a Black given the racial connotations loaded onto us), but she showed complete disregard for me and cut me off when I tried to speak. She was thoroughly dismissive of what I said, even when she pretended she wanted to apologize (to protect her job). I tried to explain to her that I wanted to prepare her for my squeamish behavior when getting shots so she didn't feel daunted by a grown woman screaming over shots . I also tried explaining that I always try to create a safe space with new social interactions. I also get excited when I meet another black woman like me in practices where they are very rare --particularly true where I live! Plus, considering that black women's health is statistically underprioritized and mostly neglected, having a black medic attend to me boosts my hopes of "being seen, heard, and attended to with courtesy"; how wrong! This woman/lab tech was awful! She focused on reminding me she's been doing this work for umpteen years, and nobody has ever complained about her, "I'm very nice." I tried to explain to her, as a teacher, kids are not all the same, and I do not treat kids the same." Oh! She decided to explain my profession to me, like she knows it better, "That's a classroom. It's different...kids are not going anywhere..." Anyway, nothing was left for me but to tell her, "Have a great day!"

I was able to have some people help me keep my insurance and went to lahey for my regular yearly check ups, consequently incurring a balance two different times. They have an option for financial assistance which I have applied to and both times, I have been denied. The financial or business office keeps asking for the latest paystubs or my old taxes which I have made clear I am not working so I do not know where I am supposed to get that documentation. My two bills come to under $300 which is a small amount for all the money I have brought to them. On the contrary with my scraping for pennies, that is a huge amount I cannot currently afford. it is sad that for once, they cannot forgive or let go of a bill that will not even break their bank. Anyway, this hospital has truly deteriorated through the years. PS: I know my post will probably be removed.
