This location isn't as good as their new location on Trowbridge, but the service is quick if you're in Okemos. I only come for dinner and the food good, but sometimes inconsistent. Last night, I enjoyed a nice fresh salad combo with two chicken kabobs and hummus. Everything was perfect, the chicken was hot, moist and tasty. The salad was really fresh. I ordered a chickpea salad, was given a chicken salad the chicken salad had 4 pieces of lettuce all which was wilited and I paid $10 for pretty much a half of a salad 98% meat... I'm a lucky girl because I've been frequenting the various locations of Woody's Oasis for years now. This location is new-ish and near my parents house in Okemos. I visited this location twice this week! I'm all about the health factor, as well as the affordability factor when it comes to most Middle-Eastern places. Woody's is no different. Their slogan is actually "a healthier alternative to fast food" or something to that effect. I think it is right on. You can eat here, get full and not feel a bit of guilt. That is personally my favorite kind of eating. I had the garlic chicken and spicy chicken sandwiches on my last two visits. Both great choices, although i wish the spicy chicken was a bit more spicy (whats new...). I also enjoyed the tabbouli on one of my visits. I was a bit surprised by how pricey their salads are when ordered a la carte. Woody's is a solid joint that I'd go to pretty much any day. They're on to their third location in the area- now I'd just wish they'd build on in Arizona for me! read more

I was starving for a falafel sandwich. So I went to woodys other location in okemos instead of east Lansing. Big mistake. First time and now will be the last time i go back there. I asked for a falafel sandwich which was heated up in a microwave and took forever to make. It was over cooked , hard and lacked seasoning. Woody's is awesome, and this was one of my staple lunch locations when I worked in Okemos... I came here with coworkers every week, sometimes twice! Minor downsides: - a bit on the pricey side compared to alternatives nearby (although not too bad) - if you come in at dinner time, sometimes the food seems like it was sitting out for a long time. They seem to get almost no business at dinner hours, but at lunch (business days) it's always packed and always delicious. read more

This is NOT the sit-down chain. The food (spicy beef shawarma, hummus and tabouli sandwich, and a side of hummus) was okay, but filling. The beef was quite dry and barely spicy. The hummus sandwich was fine. The hummus was good, but the pita that it came with was cold, limp, and bland. What really bugged us was that it was just two people on staff yesterday evening: a 17-21 yr old who was training a new person, who also doubled as the chef. I don't mind training, because we all need to do it, but when the trainee asks what falafel is, and the TRAINER has no idea, then you might not be in a well-run Mediterranean restaurant. read more

I come to this location every time I'm in the area. The Fattoush salad is the best I have had and I travel frequently to the Metro Detroit area where there are several options for Middle Eastern Cuisine, I also like the Chicken Schwarma sandwich and their humus is always top notch. I have been to the other Woody's locations and the food isn't as good as it is at the Okemos Rd. location. read more

Great food. I thought some of the items were a bit pricy, i.e. $1.30 for a single falafel but everything was very fresh and tasty. We had many guests, vegan, vegetarian and omnivores coming in the night before Thanksgiving and wanted to be able to feed a crowd without massive prep. Everything was great. This location is nothing compared to the trowbridge one ... they do not serve lamb or beef kabobs, just chicken (keep that in mind). The meat did not taste as fresh, you can't go wrong with the rice and hummus. The staff was fine so not blaming them for the awful food. They microwave the food. Yum! Woody's! I at least grab some hummus each time I'm in town. I love the food at Woody's and I think this location has much better food than the EL location. I always enjoy the mujaradra, fattoush salad, and, of course, hummus! My only gripe: there isn't much comfortable seating at this particular location. Tonight we got a felafel sandwich, some samosas, and a couple other items. The felafel was hard and dry, not "hot and fresh". Truly awful - perhaps the worst ever. The samosas were also stale. Plus, we were over charged by $5 on a $25 order. I was not given an itemized receipt so I didn't realize the error until I got home. Other locations are ok, but stay away from this one. Not sure chicken is supposed to be that color but it taste great and the service was friendly and fast.

My wife went to this location today and was treated horribly. She ordered a chicken kabob meal to spilt with our son, and 2 drinks. Her total came to 25 dollars. She didnt realize the mistake until she sat down to eat. When she went up to ask about the overcharge, waiting in line and not cutting in front of people, she was harrased and questioned by the man at the counter for waiting too long to ask about it. Instead of dealing with her, he acosted her and told her to wait while he helped 3 people behind her. When he talked to her again, he decided to tell her that the credit card slips close out every 2 hours, what would she do if the slip closed?! Doesnt matter that she paid cash...he decided that instead of making it right with a customer that he would talk down to her about taking too long to kindly come ask about her overcharge. When he decided to look at his recipts and help her, he did realize that he made a mistake and finally decided to giver her her correct change, but only after telling her that she was wrong multiple times without looking into the matter. A shame because we enjoyed the food there and until today, the service. Bad form. read more

Rude. I live right around the corner, but I went to the Trowbridge location after trying to order take-out from the Jolly Road location.

This is my favorite place to eat. I tell people if I had to choose one meal to eat for the rest of my life it would be the veggie grape leaves combo from woody's oasis on jolly. We just used Woody's Oasis on Jolly Road in Okemos for my daughter's open house and it was a great experience all around. We ordered food for about fifty people, including both meat and vegetarian options. Ordering was easy, staff was helpful and accommodating, the food was ready for pickup right on time, and it tasted great. We got rave reviews from our guests. I would definitely recommend using Woody's Oasis on Jolly in Okemos for an event such as an open house. read more

I have been eating at this location for over two years. I go there for lunch at least once a week. The service has always been good. The food is fantastic. I usually eat the chicken over rice and get the yogurt salad and spicy hummus. MMMMMM the BEST. I occasionally eat the Spicy Falafel sandwich and I love this sandwich. So filling and a great price. This is defently a place that I would recommend to anyone that is in the mood for some healthy, tasty food. read more

Wow, never have had worst customer service. My family and I went there tonight for dinner at 6:20. The sign on the door said they close at 7. When we went to place our order they told us it would have to be to go because they were closing. I said that is in 40 minuets and they looked at me like I was crazy. We then walked out. Well i thought i would give Woody's another try at this newer location. It will be the last time i will give them a try. Microwaved chicken is not good eats and even if you think it is, you don't get much of it in their sandwiches. Way over priced for what you get. If you want a sandwich and have $5 to spend go to subway where at least they microwave an adult size sandwich for you. Oh and the employees seem like they are there as a result of some kind of punishment, try a smile once in awhile folks. I'm a student at Wayne State and eat middle eastern food all the time. This place was gross compared to the stuff I'm used to getting in detroit. The spicy chicken pita was basically hummus mixed with franks red hot, topped with chicken, not the delicious spicy garlic stuff most middle eastern places have. My husband and I tried this place for the first time and will never be back! The customer service is awful and we had to stand in line for over ten minutes because there were only two people working during the middle of lunch. I had a few questions about the menu and the lady looked at me like I was completely crazy and she could not answer my questions and did not offer any suggestions. We ordered the chicken and beef schawarmas and we couldn't tell if they were supposed to be hot or cold sandwiches and mine was drenched in dressing. We had Woody's at the International Cafe a few months ago and really enjoyed it. On our way to visit our daughter at MSU, we brought dinner from Woody's on Jolly Rd thinking it would be just as good. We ordered a few dishes, and left with a few cups of water. First thing to go wrong was our misfitting lids for our water. Five minutes after we left, we noticed that the water was leaking from the cups of water. I did not have them stacked, and had them sealed correctly, but the bottom of our bags were soaked (as was the surface underneath where they were placed) and we had lost almost a half cupful from a couple of cups. I was thankful that I had not ordered pop instead or it would have been a real mess. We sat down at my daughter's dorm to eat some sandwiches, and dinner plates of chicken kabob and kibbe. My son said he saw them microwaving the sandwiches before we got them, which would explain the pita falling apart while trying to eat it situation. The kabob wasn't anything to order twice, and my husband said the kibbe wasn't as good as what he had at the cafe before. The salads were alright, and the hummous was good. If we ever eat at Woody's it won't be at this one. Maybe they don't get enough business to provide freshly prepared foods and it shows. The workers were friendly.
