I added two falafel and one samosa to my meal and both were tasty. I also enjoyed their garlic sauce with my chicken. Ooof. Definitely skip this one. The food is ok. Not great, just ok. It is to Mediterranean food what Taco Bell is to Mexican, but whatever. Its in a half empty food court in a dying mall, so expectations were low anyway. The biggest problem, though, is that the price on the menu board is not the price you'll end up paying. There's a little service charge for EVERYTHING, and soon that 13.99 meal combo will cost you 19.00. But, they don't tell you that. They'll tell you the total from the menu board, but when you go to sign the receipt, the total on the receipt is higher. And it's not broken down by items, it's just the new, higher total at the bottom of the receipt. It didnt even say "combo meal." I think they're counting on you not noticing. I noticed. When I asked why the total was different than what the girl had said 20 seconds earlier, "Oh it includes the fee for this and that." THEN TELL ME THAT TOTAL. Don't just run my card for a different amount. Thats FRAUD. And a great big "NO" from me. read more

I despise mall food but was super excited to find this restaurant inside the food court. I probably won't be returning and here's a list of reasons why. 1. I got rice, tabbouli and hummus. My bf got the Chicken Shawarma plate. The total was $19.85. Why? Because he charged each of us $8.99. 2. The tabbouli and Marcus' salad weren't fresh. Wilted veggies soft and some mushy. The rice was old. How are they closed on Monday, today is Tuesday and the food isn't fresh? I'm mad at myself for not taking pictures. 3. I asked for a receipt and he said he's not allowed to give me one. I should've replied "well I'm not allowed to give you my money". He made me take a picture of the receipt while it was still on the roll in the register. 4. We're still in a pandemic and his mask was "on" but how is it that I can see your nose and lips? Ugh. All in all, I doubt I'll ever return to this underwhelming, less than satisfactory establishment. There are WAY better Mediterranean restaurants in Lansing. This is a solid option if you find yourself hungry in the Okemos Mall, and you like Middle Eastern fare. I have eaten here quite a few times over the past couple of years and always come away satisfied. First, and foremost, the chicken shawarma is fresh off the spit...which seems to be a rarity in the local Middle Eastern food scene. I typically get the chicken shawarma plate which includes rice, humus, house salad, pita bread, and a drink for a reasonable $6.99...you can upgrade to the salad with feta for fifty cents. I have also tried the falafel, the kibbeh, and the warak dawali...all have been satisfying. If the optional sides are fresh, you definitely have to try any of the above at least once. Yousef, the owner, is really down-to-earth and will walk you through the cuisine if you are unfamiliar. My mother-in-law has spoiled me when it comes to authentic Middle Eastern food. Absolutely amazing Mediterranean food. Family owned and run, they have a great menu. On top of that, if you ask they can make almost any dish you want in whatever style you want it prepared. It's run by the kindest, most sincere people I have ever met. The whole experience, especially the food, keeps me coming back for more - and I don't even go to the mall. Now, I just go for the food. It's difficult to find new places and dishes in this part of Michigan that taste both genuine and rich. Much of the Mediterranean food between Lansing and Okemos is bland. This food has depth. Ahlan Mediterranean Cuisine is a hidden gem in an otherwise unauthentic market/area. They understand how food should be prepared. I felt like Neo when I first tried it. Also it's one the first Mediterranean place within 30 miles that knows how to make spicy Mediterranean food. None of them do a good job. The other Mediterranean places are fine, but Ahlans is better. Most other places compare to real Mediterranean like how White Castle compares to an angus beef/ bison burger freshly prepared by Gordon Ramsey. I eat a lot of Mediterranean food and I think that Ahlan is the best tasting in the greater Lansing area. The chicken shawarma (doner) is fantastic. The owner, Yousef, is a very nice and friendly man. Make sure to try this place out in the Meridian Mall food court. It's the best restaurant in the entire mall. read more

As a first time customer, I have to say that the service and the food were excellent. On the suggedtion of the man behind the counter, I ordered the Chicken Dorner (Shawarma). Not sure what has happened to this place but I just threw my to go dinner in the trash. The tabouli was warm and smelled bad. The chicken shawarma was not as seasoned, moist or tender as I would expect. I am an occasional patron but this will be our last visit. Food was terrible. I had ordered my food through EatStreet, their online ordering company and it was all downhill from there. My food took almost an hour and a half to be delivered (which could have been their delivery companies fault) so I called their delivery service and it doesn't even ring, it just stays quiet for a few seconds and then says, "goodbye." After starving for an hour and a half, my food finally arrived. I ordered the kafta meal which came with bread, a soufflé cup of garlic sauce, hummus, rice, kafta, and I upgraded for a $1.50 to the fattoush salad. I also ordered a side of fried kibbeh and a Mountain Dew and a Coke. The issues with my food and drinks are as follows: 1. I ordered a Coke and a Mountain dew (which were obviously both options on their menu) and the delivery guy gave me a Coke and a Sprite and said, "they don't have any Mountain Dew." Not quite sure why it is on the menu then, whatever though, not too big of a deal. 2. I opened up the bag and received a note that said, "Hello, we are all out of kafta, so I substituted it with our beef kabob. Enjoy! Sorry for the inconvenience. - Ahlan Meridian" A restaurant cannot just change someone's order without contacting their customer. I would have gotten a chicken shawarma. 3. The beef kabobs were 4 pieces of DRIED OUT, COLD, and BLAND beef that were, I kid you not, the SIZE OF A QUARTER. My sister's hamster would have still been hungry after eating that beef. 4. The white rice was COLD and PLAIN. I had to season it myself. 5. The hummus tasted like DOG FOOD. 6. The garlic sauce was WATERY. 7. This is the first time I've tried kibbeh and it was god awful. I would definitely try it again somewhere else because the fried kibbeh here was BLACK, DRY, and BURNT TO A CRISP. It was like taking a bite out of a burned out fire log so I still have no idea what it tastes like. 8. I upgraded to the fattoush but got the house SALAD which was WARMER than the kafta or the rice. It was probably about a HALF CUP of salad, the leaves were WILTED and OLD and there was barely any dressing, yet for some reason the salad was really WET and SOGGY. I really wanted to love and support this place but it just wasn't cutting it for me. The falafel had an off-taste and that says a lot from someone who is a falafel-freak and is not picky at all. Maybe it was the frying oil, or maybe it was a spice that didn't belong? We had the chicken shawarma as well which was not freshly cut up from the stand-up shawarma grill thing but was stored in a container as it was pre-cut. And it was mixed with what we can only refer to as italian seasoning! I mean maybe it wasn't but there were definitely some flavors that again, did not belong. The tabbouli salad was the good part of the meal and even that was just okay. Super disappointed and felt ripped off. Despite the friendly service, I unfortunately can't say I would ever eat there again. read more
