Chicken was very dry, didn't expect it to be like subway where you build your meal. Mine was bad as I had a wrap with plenty of garlic sauce, but my wife had a a bowl and threw more than half of hers away. I've been working in the west side of Lansing for quite some time. How in the heck I've missed this place for so long is a mystery. Corner business, easy in easy out, lots of parking space. Ordering is kinda like a Qdoba restaurant. If you aren't familiar with that here's the basics..... 1. Choose a bowl with no bread, a sandwich wrap on pita bread, or a sandwich on panini bread. 2. Choose your filler like meat (shawarma) or vegetarian (falafel). 3. Choose up to 5 toppings like hummus, turnips, garlic sauce, tabooli. They also have premium toppings like feta cheese or hearty toppings like extra meat. A few desserts and drink options round out the menu. Prices are pretty average for middle eastern food. $6 - $7 for a sandwich, sides are $3 - $4, and drinks are $2. I got a chicken shawarma sandwich, side of chips and hummus, and a large drink for $11. I barely finished it all and it tasted better and was healthier than my usual $10 lunch. Place was clean, not busy, and food was fresh. One of the better shawarma sandwiches I've had in the area. Lots of seating inside or get it to go. The only reason I left it a 4 star was because of the staff. The manager was great but the other workers would have been better flipping burgers. They don't know much about the food and are just making what you order. They were polite and tried their best but you could sense their lack of knowledge about middle eastern food. Don't Blame the Customer Before I redeemed the voucher from restaurant.com, I called Tabooli on Waverly to ask if they participated. They said yes and it was ok come in. I arrived and ordered food. A young lady rang me up and we validated my coupon. She asked her manager what to do next and he said we don't accept Restaurant.com. I proceeded to tell him that I called and asked in advance before I purchased the voucher and drove all of this way. He said well you didn't talk to me. I said I spoke to one of the employees and he said well she is NEW. So I said I don't want any of the food and walked my daughter to my car. I wasn't essential going to pay $90 for fast food. He followed me out to the car to tell me I was scammed and I shouldn't take the word of a minor over the phone. I replied that she is a representative of the company. I cannot tell if a person is a minor over the phone. He said true, but she is a minor and she can't make decisions and walked away. It wasn't the fact that I was out of $25 dollars. It was the fact that it was my fault for calling to verify with them before I purchased the voucher. Minor or not. Don't blame the customer. I will just stick to SULTANS or ALLADINS but first I will verify that they are not the same family that owns Tabooli's. read more

Ugh. Maybe I am expecting too much but this is the Subway of Mediterranean style dishes. I have no idea what the issue is but I am going to say with much prejudice that I don't want two high school kids with no cooking experience making my shawarma. Everything is watered down. Everything. The hummus, the tabbouli, the baba. This is a disgrace to real mediterranean dishes. If you like flavorless and salty food with a "foreign" flare this is your place. The lack of quality of my wrap is what upset me most. This kid grabbed a stale pita and when it was tearing instead of making it over or using the same contents on a new piece of bread he wrapped it in TWO more pieces of bread. Not only was that wasteful, he completely ignored my protest of adding more bread and the quality of my sandwich. Then I tastes nothing but onion, that was the strongest flavor overall, onion. Just wanted to add an extra "WOOHOO!" for their feisty feta. The crew member gave me two scoops of hummus, which seemed like a little much...until I got into the feisty a little more. Mixing that with the hummus and the regular feta (plus the shawarma, of course) took the edge off and put the entire dish on the right side of spicy for my tastebuds. The one on Grand River Ave was where we went. The prices read $8.99 for entree and $3.99 for side. I asked are those the prices and he nodded. Then when he rang it up, he rang up $9.99 and $4.99, so he charged us $2 more. I said those aren't the prices on the board. He said "Covid prices". Well, they should tape the correct price over the board, not trick people. I should have walked out for him adding $2 extra. So just beware that he is going to ring you up for more than you think you're going to pay. As for the portion -- it was not even $8.99 worth. Pretty small. Four grape leaves, about 2" long and around 3/4" diameter. So -- go to another Middle Eastern restaurant if you want that type of food. I really did not like being tricked at the register. It was my first time here and the menu was a lot to look at. Luckily, the employee that helped me recognized it was my first time and walked me through all the options. He knew exactly what everything was and told me what was in each item. I ordered the chicken shawarma bowl with rice. With the bowl you get a choice of 5 toppings. My toppings were tabooli salad, house salad, cucumbers, baba ganoush, and a potato garlic sauce. It also comes with choice of chips or pita bread. Pita bread was okay, kind of dry though. They offer a handful of sides that you can get for a .75 cent extra charge, in my opinion that is a lot to charge for an extra side. Maybe I've been spoiled when it comes to Mediterranean food, I usually eat at Zaytoon (West side one, not that garbage in Holt). But wow, Tabooli is like a step up from roach coach food. The ingredients are not fresh, the seasoning is light if at all and the staff at this location doesn't seem to have the experience or desire to do their job. Bowls are prepared dumping ingredients into separate piles over rice, not distributed at all. I've seen more care taken at Subway. Pita chips are burned, pita bread is stale and hard. Garlic sauce is soupy and hardly taste of garlic. Rice is dry. Meat is deplorable, chicken kabobs are spongy in the interior and dry on the outside. It's a weird texture, like rubbery fish. Beef Kafka is a unseasoned hamburger log. Chicken kafta was made to throw in the trash next to the beef shawarma. Mediterranean "salsa" is questionable at best, very strong olive and decomposition flavors. I really haven't found much that I care for here. Another thing that bugs me, even if you show up right when they open, you get the impression that the food has been sitting around for hours. This is not the subway of Mediterranean, it is like a bad Mediterranean vending machine that serves warm food. read more

Stopped here on a whim for my lunch break and wasn't really sure what to expect. The woman working was incredibly helpful and even offered me samples of the meat options. If I had to describe their menu, I'd call it 'the Chipotle of Mediterranean' because you can choose a wrap or bowl and then all of the toppings for it. I chose a bowl and started with rice and ratatouille. I was then able to choose five side items to add to my dish so I chose cucumbers, pickled turnips, banana peppers, hummus, and pickles. The combination was actually a little strange so I ate each item separately, but everything was very good on its own. I also tried their baklava and it was very tasty. I had gone to this particular location a good half dozen times and was always pleased. The restaurant had been closed for a month or two as they switched ownership. So, I was pretty excited to see that they had re-opened. I was let down, big time. The bowl had absolutely NO flavor whatsoever. It's as if the new owners hadn't discovered "seasonings" to flavor the food. Everything was lukewarm and my lettuce was still dripping with water. This experience was terrible. Huge disappointment. The staff has no idea what they're serving. I had to help a client since the staff didn't know what was in any of the foods they were serving. I had to repeat my very simple order several times. And it tasted terrible. And it was so expensive!!! I give this place another couple months before they have to close for good.
